Since then, we've learned, and explored new possibilities, especially through developing Frostpunk 2 on Unreal Engine 5. That experience showed us the immense potential of this powerful tool... and sparked an idea. What if we brought the original Frostpunk back in a new, exciting form? Thanks to the amazing feedback from our community and the advancements of Unreal Engine 5, we’ve officially started work on a new version of Frostpunk. It’s more than just a visual upgrade. When working on Frostpunk 2 in Unreal Engine 5, the limitations of our own Engine became that much more apparent but it also made us realize we could finally go back to when it all began – the moment the Great Storm came over New London in 1886. With that in mind, we’re extremely excited to announce that we’ve already started development on a new Frostpunk project – one that recreates the experience of the original game in UE. Our goal is to expand upon it with improved visuals, higher resolution, and all the other possibilities Unreal has to offer. We don't want to simply recreate the first game in a new engine – it’s to build upon the original experience. That’s why we plan to implement tons of new content, new mechanics, new events, technologies, and buildings – all with the aim of creating new ways to shape your society, including a completely new Purpose path in addition to the existing Faith and Order paths. UE also gives us the opportunity to expand upon the world of the first Frostpunk with completely new content in the future, such as DLCs. That means that the game's now old enough to cover its first emergency shift in the coal mine. Here are 6 facts highlighting those 6 years: Around 3% of the players have over 100 hours on their record. On average, people play the game for 24 hours. More than half managed to save every person in Frostland playing The New Home scenario. The most popular track from the Frostpunk OST is "The City Must Survive". It's been played over 6.4 million times on Spotify and over 1.3 million times on YouTube. The rarest achievement, unlocked by only 0.6% of Steam players is "Endless slave driver".
