Update 1.2.0 now Available!Jun 28, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsWe've come out from hibernation to bring an update and some news! We've are collaborating with Musical Range, a game where you play music with guns, has just released an update with the music from Flynguin Station. To celebrate this news, we've pushed an update to the game to improve user experience and offer more agency to the player. As well as a reducement in game file size. Full Change Log Reduced the required experience to level up by almost half --- Specially noticeable in levels above 10. Leveling up should feel much more natural, faster, and gratifiying. --- This can create a weird case for existing profiles, which have experience above this threshold. The first launch post update, will level up your character normally. But the extra experience will be lost. --- Unfortunately, there is no bonus level or extra leveling for existing profiles. --- Let us know how this new leveling experience feels, so we can make future adjustments Adjusted flight camera rotation. --- New angle allows you to see what is coming up ahead, so you can take preemptive action and use your necklace, rocket, or wing items. --- Let us know how this camera angle feels. Our intention is to reduce the RNG aspect of the game, and give players more agency in getting better flights and to react to what's up ahead. Greatly reduce game file size, from 2.5GB to 700MB. This update focuses on small changes to reduce the amount of grind required to level up. Changes in this update: The necklace will also remove Ice Friction when active. Survival Bonus Increased. 10% Base, and it increases by 1% every 5 levels for Penguin Levels, and 1% for every 10 Science Levels. (See Example) In game Friend Leaderboard Score will lower it's opacity when flying above 25 meters for improved visibility. Added two new promo codes. Be sure to use a promo code every day! An example for the Survival Bonus Increase. If your penguin is level 32, and Science Level 18. Then the final Survival bonus is a base of 10%, plus 6%, plus 1%. Giving a total if 17% survival Bonus. There are a few changes to the level progression from level 4 to level 20. We found that players often didn't learn quick enough about the existence of purchasable objects, so this change should let this information known better. This means that the early progression is now faster, as you can get the early game items earlier and for less money! Changed to level 4 ramp obstacle addition from level 5 Tier 1 objects are now purchasable at level 5 down from level 10. Items at Tier 1 are also cheaper to reflect this change. Tier 2 objects are now purchasable at level 17 down from level 20. Items at Tier 1 are also cheaper to reflect this change. This change is going to be negligible for players at high enough level. However, if you want to maximize your efficiency, and are only low level, around level 15 or level 20, then starting a new game could be best for your. Other changes in this update Added a button in the Science Camp to toggle Science Rank's description tool-tip On and Off. It's ON by default. Fixed Achievements for level 50 and Level 100 not being rewarded. If you should have this achievement, you will obtain it next time you level up. Fixed camera being fixed at the wrong position if the player missed the explosive during launch. The player's own leaderboard is always visible during gameplay. Fixed the Profile Record Approach HUD element not updating the distance to break record in some cases. Fixed known spelling mistakes. For beta testers, creating a new profile will ensure that achievements trigger as you would expect, as some checks are only done when you beat your profile's best score. A very tiny update is out to address some spelling issues as well as to update the Help window with current information. Corrected all known spelling mistakes. Updated help windows with current information. Check it out to learn more about the inner workings of the game. Added a base leaderboard list of 10 penguins for players playing offline without a Steam connection. The offline list will be loaded by default. If the game can't fetch a list from the Steam Leaderboards, then this offline list will be shown. It has 10 penguins, with distances getting harder to pass each time. Known issues. Displays as build 0.2.26 in the main menu. A few spelling mistakes. We'll release an update soon to address this issue. We just pushed a new update to fix some small issues and extend some features now that the leaderboard list is growing with more entries. Changed how the Leaderboard menu works. Added 'Pages' to the Global Leaderboard. You can now press the next or previous page to go watch the other players in the leaderboards. This pages load in sets of 20 entries Selecting 'Find Me' will fetch the leaderboards of the player and the 10 players above and below him. Selecting Friends will fetch all leaders for friends in your list. Added a musical sound for the thick snow in the downhill stage. Added a musical sound for energy oil in the downhill stage. Fixed colouring widget not capturing the mouse correctly in some screen resolutions. Fixed equip object menu displaying not displaying the text for the object menu. We are excited to share this update with you as there have been several enhancements to the game's look as well as some optimizations and some gameplay adjustments. We invite all our closed beta testers to try out the changes! You might want to create a new profile in order to take advantage of the extra income available from picking up the Fish Power Up and saving you'll get when buying items as costs are cheaper! The full change log is below. Launch level now pre-loads the track before launch, so you can see the world ahead with it's interactive objects before starting your penguin's flight. Added sound effects to Fish Power Up. Includes a sound 1 second before it ends to let you know it's about to run out. Fish Power Up will also double your income while active. Updated the Icon file. Adjusted lighting in all levels to be more consistent and more Antarctic-ish. Adjusted color correction on all levels. Fixed Reset Default Key-binds not adding Left and Right Arrow Keys to Move Penguin Left and Right action mappings. When mousing over the Penguin to rotate him, the base will light up. You can click on the penguin in the Penguin Designer window to spin him around. You can click on the penguin/Explosive in the Shop Menu Loadout windows to spin him/it around. You can click on the penguin in the Base Camp top menu to spin him around. Added Gameplay Music. Music will dynamiclly play transitioning between Flight, Space and Sliding themes as your penguin flies. Added color unsaturation effect upon death. Added color and vignette effects when passing through objects. Added ambience sound effects to Main Menu. Added ambience sound effects to the Base Camp. Added ambience sound effects to the pre-launch stage. Adjusted Slow Time effect when interacting with objects. Fixed a bug where hitting a Boost-Pad or snow bump while landing, would prevent the penguin from bouncing back up. Pressing U while in the Main Menu will bring up Unit Stats. Changed cloud positions to not be on top of the track any more. Performed game optimizations for CPU and GPU Reduced the amount of dynamic lights in the Main Menu and Base Camp Menu. Removed unnecessary tick calculations in some of the game classes. General algorithm cleanup/optimization in functions which are frequently called. Optimized the track fog. We figured in order to keep better track of changes for our growing play-testers and for future players to learn more about the game, we'd start posting patch notes about changes to the game starting now. We'll be implementing this click-to-spin feature to the Shop window. You can learn the game version you are playing by looking at the lower left portion of the main menu.
