Let's take a closer look. New training levels Since it can be a little overwhelming to patrol a full scale house in your first game, we've added a smaller training yard at the fire station. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/29971737/6066d02f1f9bba61ee18cf8fd30566ec9324ebd4.jpgTraining Yard 1 - Two quadrant training level Once you've mastered this first level you can try out the full size training level before heading out on a real call. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/29971737/07f7a13bbbc8e383e3399fb55336bd388dfc7f70.jpgTraining Yard 2 - Four quadrant training level Selecting Difficulty We've had a wide range of excellent feedback on the difficulty of the game with newcomers reporting that they are unable to finish the first level and veterans lamenting that it's too easy. As a first step to addressing this we've added the levels of difficulty to the Experienced Game as they are defined in the board game. Since the board game does not specify levels of difficulty for the Family game we've had to come up with some starting conditions that makes things a little easier in the early game. Commendations Commendations add some interesting challenge to each level by imposing implicit restrictions on the options available to you. You will need to adjust your tactics in order to successfully complete the level and earn the Commendation you're chasing. Can you complete the game without using the deck gun or chopping a wall? https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/29971737/39a88491f060707e2f7f4244d117cd704074bed3.pngCommendations - Rank up your commendations by completing them on higher difficulties. New features Added 2 Training levels with reduced difficulty Added Recruit, Veteran and Heroic difficulty levels Added Commendation badges that show the highest level of difficulty achieved on each level Added cell occupation markers to highlight survivors and hazmats Added footsteps to survivor movement Added system time label to HUD Actions with insufficient AP now show as locked Added text hint for locked actions https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/29971737/cd5ab76542be6a6ee970012f39f58e1e1b515c56.pngCell Occupation Markers - Highlights the location of Survivors and Hazmats Zip play Reduced delay before POI and Survivor response during Call Out Action Reduced delay on Firefighter extinguish Reduced Roll time on Deck Gun Shot Reduced Startup delay on Deck gun shot There should not be a delay between the draw and extinguish animations Rule Corrections CAFS should only be able to save 7 AP Generalist should now be able to save 9 AP Bug fixes Achievement Priorities should no longer be granted on a loss Fixed Argument out of range exception in Paramedic.DriveRoutine Fixed Argument out of range exception in VictimAnimationBoar...Wot I Think Flash Point: Fire RescueMay 1, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunFlash Point: Fire Rescue is the digital adaptation of a board game about rescuing people from buildings on fire. The basic premise is simple: a house is aflame. You command a squad of firemen and penetrate the place, trying to rescue as many survivors as possible before the building collapses. Big question marks randomly appear on the map. Some of them hide survivors, other are false alarms. Once you find a person, you need to drag them outside the building, possibly avoiding catching fire during the process. This faithful recreation got successfully funded on Fig last year, and now is here for us all to enjoy. Who is it for, though? (more…) Flash Point: Fire Rescue kicks in the door on SteamApr 4, 2018 - PC Gamer Flash Point: Fire Rescue is a fantastic co-op board game that just made its way onto Steam. Think about a tactical maneuvering game like XCOM, but with firefighters, who are probably braver than alien hunters anyways. In any given scenario your team's job is to save people from a burning building—not put out fires. You're the people who go inside. The PC game is built a lot like the board game, with local co-op being a major feature. Each player takes on a specific role, like Paramedic or Driver, that has unique abilities or advantages—then you get to the hard business of saving lives. The digital adaptation includes both the Family ruleset, which I find fast and fun, and the sometimes painfully difficult Experienced rules, which include such real-life firefighting joys as flashover .  The original game , published by Indie Boards & Cards, is beloved in the board game community for providing a challenge to a range of ability levels and its rather good expansions. Developers RetroEpic are making the digital adaptation, funded via Fig , and it's going to adapt several of original designer Kevin Lanzing’s expansions to the game as DLC—here's hoping for Tragic Events. Beyond that, RetroEpic has hinted at a rather curious idea: that it's adding an update to the game so that you can tweak and add your own House Rules, which I'm wholly on board with for tabletop adaptations. Beyond that, online multiplayer is forthcoming, though couch co-op is available now. Flash Point: Fire Rescue is out now on Steam . Personally, I won’t be buying it until they add the rescue dog expansion. Flash Point: Fire Rescue is live! What's next?Mar 29, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsFlash Point: Fire Rescue is now available on Steam! We teamed up with Indie Boards and Cards to port Flash Point: Fire Rescue to Windows, MacOs and Linux. This first release represents the content and features of the base game box with a few extras exclusive to the digital version. http://store.steampowered.com/app/654220/Flash_Point_Fire_Rescue/ Planned Updates The launch is only the beginning, we have a number of updates lined up for Flash Point: Fire Rescue. Here's what we're currently working on: Fig Backer Update Development was partly funded through the generous support of the backer community at Fig.co. The Fig Backer Update will include content submitted by the backers as part of their rewards. This content includes new locations, a new specialist and some features specially requested by the community. Fire Academy Challenge Update Understanding the strengths and limitations of your specialists is key to a successful rescue. The Fire Academy Challenges are designed to test your understanding of each member of your squad and how they work together. House Rules Update One of the benefits of a table top game is that players can easily modify the rules and experiment with interesting combinations. In the House Rules Update we're introducing options to mix up the rules of the game and up the challenge for yourself. Online Multiplayer While the game already has local multiplayer available it's not always possible to enlist a squad mate or two. Online multiplayer will enable you to find players when you're not sharing a couch. Future DLC The board game has a number of excellent expansions available. We will be bringing the specialists, locations and extra features to the digital version. The line up includes the Second Story, Honor and Duty and Extreme Danger expansions. In the mean time you can start enjoying the game and help support development by buying your copy now.Flash Point: Fire Rescue is live! Lets dive into some details. The backers and play testers have been playing the Family ruleset for some time now. As fun as this basic ruleset is, Flash Point really comes to life when you dive into the Advanced rules. Fans of the board game are itching to get their hands on it and put their tactics to the test. The good news is that if all goes to plan we should have the last remaining elements of the Advanced rules in place. All the Specialists, Vehicles, Hazmats even the insidious hotspots will be ready for the first round of testing and feedback. The advance features use the same established methods we’ve introduced in the UI update of the Family rules so hopefully it would be easy enough to pickup as you play. Please do let us know your thoughts here in the community hub or on Discord. While first impressions are very useful when trying to streamline the interface for people new to the game, don’t forget that we would also like to hear about any improvements we can make for the veteran players. With all the game elements in place we will be shifting our focus to the online multiplayer functionality as we build toward release. We’ve been working with the Fig team to try narrow down the final release date and will announce the date as soon as we have confirmation on it. Until then we will keep posting updates while our backers help play test. Be sure to add it to the wishlist to keep up to date with the announcements. It is still possible to get involved with the development by backing the project through Fig. Hope you can join us ;)Major update coming this week as we narrow down the release dateNov 6, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsWhile we’re preparing the next major update to Flash Point, releasing later this week, all indications are that we’re set for a early 2018 release.
