Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location

Five Nights At Freddy's creator is funding some fans' spin-off gamesAug 24, 2020 - Rock, Paper, Shotgun I hope you’re ready for a huge animatronic horror-fest, because Five Nights At Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon has launched a project to help fund a bunch of the games made by fans inspired by the series. The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative will invest in some of the more popular fan games that have appeared over the years, including a remake of the first FNAF. “There have been some great fanmade spinoff universes created in this community, and I want to see them keep going,” Cawthon says. (more…) Five Nights At Freddy s future includes more free, VR, AAA and movie scaresNov 12, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunThere’s a long, dark future ahead of Scott Cawthon and his Five Nights At Freddy’s series. In a blog-post on Steam today, the creator of the teen jump-scare horror phenomenon announced everything he could speak about regarding the future of the series. There’s an upcoming VR game made in collaboration with Steel Wool Studios, an Augmented Reality game (presumably only for phones), and a new free game planned called FNAF: Into Madness currently on the drawing board, but still, nice of him. Plus, a big-budget game, although still also only in the planning phase. (more…) Horror phenomenon Five Nights at Freddy's is getting a "AAA" game, console ports progressingNov 12, 2018 - EurogamerScott Cawthon, creator of the phenomenally popular Five Nights at Freddy's series of horror games (and novels!) has unleashed a veritable heap of new updates on the franchise, including early details of a new "triple-A" game, further news on console ports, and more. First things first (as outlined in a very busy blog update over on Steam), Cawthon confirmed that the Five Nights at Freddy's console ports, as unveiled in August, are still in the works. Cawthon originally announced console versions of the series back in 2016, only to later cancel them "due to concerns about the deal", so their continued existence this time is encouraging. These newly announced HD ports of the original Five Nights at Freddy's games are being handled by developer Clickteam and are currently, according to Cawthon, about 20% complete. The finished versions will be heading to Switch, Xbox One, and PS4, and will also be getting an airing, in their improved high-definition guise, on iOS and Android. A Five Nights at Freddy's movie was first touted back in 2015, when Warner Bros. revealed that it had acquired the rights to produce a film adaptation of the mindbogglingly popular horror game property. At the time, producer Seth Grahame-Smith said that the studio was looking to make "an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie" in conjunction with original game creator Scott Cawthon. However, in January last year, Cawthon posted to Steam announcing that due to "several delays and roadblocks, some involving problems within the movie industry as a whole", the Five Nights at Freddy's movie was "back at square one." As far as Cawthon was concerned though, this was a positive: "it's good because I want to make sure that the right movie gets made, and things are on track right now for that to happen." On the surface, it's a retro-themed tycoon game where you run your own pizza restaurant. But, as players have discovered, it's actually something more sinister. Yes, just five months after placing the FNAF franchise on hold and cancelling FNAF 6, it sounds like Cawthon has brought back the hugely-popular YouTube-baiting jump scare horror franchise. This was originally intended to be a fun little game for the community, and even though I was already expecting lots of comments about the "poor quality" of the screenshots, I figured everyone kind of knew my style when it came to for-fun types of games, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. But maybe I should have been more direct from the beginning about this. This wasn't supposed to be a "major release", this is just a game for the community, something lite and without much consequence. I've just really been busy this year and just haven't had much time for game making. I will probably just release the game today rather than tomorrow, but just accept my apology in advance if this was hyped to be more than it was. This should be viewed as something fun for the community, and just something to pass some time. :) Thanks guys.Pizzeria Simulator UpdateDec 4, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, I just wanted to give an update on the Pizzeria Simulator. First of all, I know that I promised movie news soon, but I guess that news will have to wait. It had to do with an exciting cast/crew addition, but things are not quite finalized yet so I'll give that some more time. In game-related news, I REFUSE to let an entire year go by without a game release, so I'm putting together something fun for all of you for the holidays. I'm not sure if I'll release it on Steam or Gamejolt yet, but I'll let you know. Hopefully it won't take much longer to wrap it up. That's it for the update! Stay tuned! EDIT: I'll get the Steam page up within the next few days for the new game, so be watching for it!End of November Update!Nov 26, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, I just wanted to make a quick post with some updates on current projects. And that was before the jumpscare ’em up series really took off. Several games (and one troubled spin-off) later, creator Scott Cawthon has confirmed that he was working on a Five Nights 6 of sorts – but confirmed this by announcing its cancellation. The pressure of fan expectations was too high, he says, so he’s stepping back to spend more time with his family and make something else. Sounds sensible. … An Update on the ProjectJun 30, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, I wanted to give you all an update on a project of mine. For the last month or so I’ve been dropping hints about a new game; and it’s true that I’d been working on one (call it FNaF 6 if you’d like.) But after forcing myself to keep working on it day after day, I realized something- I just don’t want to work on this. With each game's release, I think the expectations get higher and higher for the next, and rightfully so. Each game SHOULD be better than the last! But that pressure starts to mount, and I fear that I've been neglecting other things in my life for the sake of trying to keep up with those mounting expectations. So, after giving this a lot of thought; I’ve decided that I’m going to stop working on it. I’m not going to reveal anything else about what the game was, and I’ve asked other people involved to never divulge anything either. It’s just not going to be talked about. Does this mean that I’m going to stop working on games altogether? No, that’s not what it means at all. It just means that I want to get back to what made game-making enjoyable in the first place. It also doesn’t mean that I’m abandoning FNaF. In fact, the first game that I'd like to make would be something for you guys. Remember Foxy Fighters from Update 2? I loved working on that game. It was a lot of fun, and it took a lot of the pressure off me knowing that it was just for the fans of the games. That’s the kind of project that I'd like to work on again. Maybe I’ll try my hand at a pizzeria tycoon game, who knows. The point is that it would be something for fun, and something for the fans. :) There are some big things in the works elsewhere. The movie is in amazing hands with Blumhouse. I’m also still working to get a VR title out at some point (because that would be awesome). And of course I can’t leave everyone hanging with the cliffhanger at the end of the second book. ;) But as far as the games are concerned, I think this is where I step back. I actually have a lot of catching up to do myself when it comes to fan-games. I still need to play FNaC 3, TJOC, Popgoes, ONaF, and some others too. I’m way behind! I hope you can respect and understand my decision. I want to spend more time with my family, and get back to what made me enjoy making games in the first place. I’ll give you all more updates as things happen! :) As always, I appreciate your support. ----------------------------------------------------------------- PART 2 OK, as usual, despite my best efforts, things don't get conveyed as clearly as I would like. So let me try to put out a few of the fires. 1) If a game's completion is in question, I would rather just say that it's cancelled, rather than say "I may get back to it at some point.", because the second just puts people on hold indefinitely. If I ever did start work on it again, I'm not sure if I would pick up where I left off, or if I would completely start over. 2) Yes, I need a break. 3) No, it's not a troll. However, keep in mind that there are still some very important discussions in progress, so the amount of information that I can share is extremely limited. In fact, even the information that I can share will have to remain somewhat cryptic. The reality is that last year the FNaF movie was met with several delays and roadblocks, some involving problems within the movie industry as a whole. As a result, as of right now, the movie is back at square one. However, depending on your point of view, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's bad because the movie is in its early stages again (so don't expect a trailer anytime soon), but it's good because I want to make sure that the right movie gets made, and things are on track right now for that to happen. I'm also going to be involved with the movie from day one this time, and that's something extremely important to me. I want this movie to be something that I'm excited for the fanbase to see. So there you have it. I know that this news might come as a disappointment to some, but there are going to be a lot of great things happening in 2017! :)Movie News!Jan 31, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, I know that I promised some movie news by the end of the month, so here it is.
