Monthly event packs Every month we will upload a Fhtagn! event pack (downloadable mod) with interesting event stories, beginning with March. You can now download the first event pack, which contains 8 backstories that will feature in cycle one of Fhtagn!’s intro stories. These stories will give your character a randomised backstory, with a unique new flavour. Each backstory is a wildcard that will give you massive starting strengths and weaknesses. Will you be the corrupt politician, the twin sister with a dark family secret or a lovestruck loafer on an African adventure? The backstories will not only entertain and make you laugh, but more than one might creep you the hell out! Finally, you can sacrifice your friends and summon an Ancient Horror in the new Dark Young expansion. The expansion includes a new cult, new Ancient One, now with useable items, more stories, new game mechanics and more investigators. There is a new cult in town – The Thousand Young (selectable from the Cult Select Page). These sycophantic backstabbers are devoted to the All-Mother and Mother only wants the best and the brightest. You have 6 rounds to build up the required stats needed to use the ritual items in the final ritual, but you also need to outwit your “friends” and make sure it is them on the chopping block and not you. The Dark Young expansion is now live and you can find all the fixes, changes and additions below. The expansion includes: New cult New Ancient One Now with useable items More stories New game mechanics More investigators In its first instalment, this party/boardgame-esque game saw the cult of The Dreaming Eye trying wake the thing of the idols, that green, sticky spawn of the stars (can you guess who?) to claim the world. Now, there is a new cult in town – The Thousand Young. These sycophantic backstabbers are devoted to the All-Mother and Mother only wants the best and the brightest. You have 6 rounds to build up the required stats needed to use the ritual items in the final ritual, but you also need to outwit your “friends” and make sure it is them on the chopping block and not you. For every successful round you complete, you get ‘Not It’ stacks, which you use in the end of the game to determine who will be sacrificed to dear Mother. The player who receives the most votes will become the juicy glazed ham on the altar in the Dark Forest. Or will they? Content Creator, the idea was to empower players to create their own content and become actively involved in content they were playing in the game. If you wanted stories that are more sinister or about a certain topic, you could either download a mod or write it yourself. The game really shines in co-op with friends, so how about creating a campaign or fun stories for you and your friends to enjoy! There are so many possibilities. Okay, okay, we admit we could have chosen a subtler name and if you know anything about Lovecraft, it will be no surprise to you who the new Ancient One will be, but we just couldn’t resist! So without further ado … Iä! Iä! Let’s get this party started! What can you expect: The Dark Young update includes a new cult who worships the All-mother. This cult is far more back-stabbing than the Dreaming Eye, since Mother does not look kindly on failing and her children know that she will not suffer the weak to live. To help even the most altruistic player embrace their inner backstabber, the game mode includes two new mechanics. “Disappointed Mother” will cause the player to spawn Dark Young across the map and let’s just say they didn’t come to congratulate you on a job well done. “Survival of the fittest” gives players stacks of “Not it!” whenever they pass an event or complete special objectives. At the end of the game players will use their stacks to determine which of them will be the sacrifice, but beware, Mother will not be happy if there are no snacks for her little babies. These are just a taste of what you can expect! We're in full swing with the Dark Young update, but have not forgotten about those nasty bugs and nice-to-haves! Thank you all for your patience with the growth process, we really appreciate it! Features We really wanted to give credit to our modders for the excellent work they have done, so from now on when you play a mod, you will be able to see the mod and the modder's name at the bottom of the story area. Fixes Can now scroll through the mod list using the controller's right stick. Controller stick threshold checks were faulty. Thresholds being checked correctly now, and change to controller threshold increased. Moving down on Mod screen with top button selected jumped to bottom button. Now correctly flows from top, to mid, to bottom. Content Creator fix: Partial destruction of buildings should now correctly only destroy the correct option, instead of the whole building. The way forward As we mentioned before, we are hard at work on the Dark Young update and we will be sharing some of the progress shortly. We also have some special plans for modders, which we will reveal soon. Other than that we will be sticking to our patching schedule, to fix any of those annoying bugs, as they creep out of the Depths. Thank you all for your support! Stay sane!Updates, Features and Fixes - V1.0.8Jun 1, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsThank you to everyone for playing Fhtagn! and for the incredible feedback we have received so far. It has been a week since Fhtagn! launched and all kinds of Yrm-Tahl worms had come out of the woodwork. Don’t worry, we have maxed out our Sanity and Animal Husbandry and we have wrangled up those troublesome critters (bugs) and banished them for good! This update focuses primarily on the way Fhtagn! deals with user created content, specifically in the way new mods are uploaded and updated on the Steam Workshop. For modders, please look at the updated Content Creator document, for changes. You can see what has changed in the revision history, on the first page. To all the achievement hunters out there, we added 16 new achievements for you. Finally, as we mentioned, we tracked down a few bugs and implemented fixes for them, details below. Features Investigator can now become a part of the ritual – Every ritual needs a pesky investigator, don’t you think? Added “how mods work” info and “how to create mod” infographic to the mods screen. We don’t want you to miss out on all fantastic and insane stories created by the community. Steam workshop update - Mods must now have a preview image. Because everything looks better with pictures. Steam workshop update – Existing/published mods can now be updated. If you wanted to change the love interest in your story from a Shoggoth to a Mi-Go – now you can! Added 16 new achievements. Oooooh, shiny! Fixes Elder signs are now correctly awarded for stats at or above 10 on the score screen. Can no longer open the elder sign unlock confirmation with controller, if you do not have enough elder signs. Spending riches on event option is now reflected in the event summary. Button active state no longer removes button side images. Steam cloud data now being loaded when the game starts to avoid syncing issues when playing on a different PC, or with multiple accounts on the same PC. Fixed an issue with character anti-climaxes, where anti-climaxes based on stats showed too frequently. This was balanced out so that anti-climaxes based on role and stats have an equal chance of appearing. Fixed an issue with follow-up events which didn’t trigger properly and the events will now trigger more consistently. Found and fixed a few typos. The Haunter of the Dark mod has been down-scaled slightly to make the first couple of follow-up events a bit easier (it is still very difficult though, so BEWARE!). The way forward We are hard at work on the Dark Young update, which will include more investigators, a new Ancient One, with new game mechanics and plenty of backstabbing. We will also continue to improve the game and Content Creator based on the feedback from the community. Thank you for all the support and we hope you’re enjoying the game. Announcing the end of the world with the release of Fhtagn! on 22 May 2018!May 21, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsWe are excited to announce that our story-adventure mini-game, Fhtagn, is releasing on Steam tomorrow, 22 May 2018! The time is finally at hand to perform the great ritual and everything has been meticulously prepared. The sacred spoon of Scoo’p has been polished to an evil gleam, the Shoggoth was given a juicy bone and the altar was sprinkled with ketchup (the Ancient One’s favourite). All we need now is for you to fulfil your ritual role and to end the world for good… or evil in this case! To help you prepare for your fiendish role, we’ve created a gameplay video that will provide you with a sneak peek of what to expect. You will need all the help you can get when you battle investigators, corrupt cops and Ancient horrors, as you traverse the unsuspecting town of Arkham. The story-adventures don’t end when you’ve completed the game, you can download playable mods from the Steam Workshop or you can create your own Lovecraftian events (or any story you want) with our content creator. At Design Imps we strive to release a product that is as bug-free as possible and a game that we feel excited about playing – and most importantly, that you will feel excited about playing! Unfortunately, we cannot in good conscience release the current version of the game as there is still much testing and polish to be done, to bring it to a standard that we feel happy with.
