Permanent 90% off multiplayer Space shooterSep 6, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey gamers, It has been a while since we have posted an update. It has been hard for us making the game a success. It has one clear reason: We have a multiplayer game, however there are not many players due to the price. Since the only thing we want at this stage is to let people enjoy the game on which we have worked on for many years. We know that we are not getting much worthy revenue, however that is not important for us anymore. We just want people to be able to play the game with others and enjoy their time. Therefore I've decided to make a permanent price change to the minimum amount we were able to choose. We hope that with this decision, people are more willing to take the leap and be able to enjoy to play this multiplayer space shooter! Hope you all like it, With kind regards, EricWinners known of the first tournament (Cash-prize, keys, giftcards and more)Jul 12, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHey all, Good job everyone! However strange, I've heard some of you guys like it so much that some of the community suggested to make a Void map. That is why I've started the development of the experimental map in which nearly no objects present to flamboyantly crash your ship in (basically for noobs ːsteammockingː). For map reference and orientation I've added a massive asteroid in the middle of the map. Also to make the void more dark and mysterious I've chosen to create and add a very cool fog effect. I am busy finalizing some things and I hope soon we can have a test-run on the map. The idea is quite cool. It gives a new dynamic since most of the space battles will be in open space. So some special tactical manoeuvres might come in handy to win from your opponent. I will let you guys know when it is ready. And ofcourse, let's keep in contact via Discord. Hope to see you in the Void soon! With the kindest regards, EricCorona special releaseMar 19, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsDear Hoarders, The future of real value is obviously in POOP paper. We just launched our Corona special where the new currency is Toilet paper. Do you want to buy a new spaceship? Sure! Just gather some TP! With this event we also introduced a XP multiplier and Toilet paper multiplier! Since it has more value you are able to gather a lot more! Be sure to look out for other hoarders, they probably shoot you for steeling their loot. Contact me via Discord and the rest of the growing community! Good look out there and have fun! Kind regards, Eric PS. With this release we have fixed some bugs and updated a few things. e.g. In-game UI is updated. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25939822/8dceac0b8a5868f8aebdf3b2b95c91b7b3527472.pngStaying at home discountMar 18, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHi there Aliens, How’s staying at home? I'm sure you are bored as hell and am interested in spending your time casually shooting everything you see in space with massive explosions, lasers, mines and chaos. Luckily I am here for you. So I've decided to give a massive discount so you guys are able to try the new release of the game! Have fun! It was time for a rebrand of Evolvation. I have just updated Evolvation to version 3.0. With this version I would like to give Evolvation a new start! I am proud to say that with 3.0 released, the game has gained a performance increase of over 40%, package size is reduced by 200% and nearly all known bugs are fixed. The Rebrand of Evolvation also means that I am producing new content! For instance, I have planned to release two new maps, a new gamemode, Official Linux support and more! To celebrate this new release, I am nearly giving the game away for free for the upcoming week. Because it is a multiplayer game I will make sure to frequently update and give discounts. Let's stay in contact via Discord. I hope you like it! Hope to see you floating by soon, Eric Ruts PS. A lot of reviews state that the game is good, but that not many players are online. I have developed this game together with one friend and invested nearly all our savings in this game. There is sadly no way that we have the capacity to get near the attention or players that is required for a multiplayer game. With the current course of actions I hope to establish a player base so we are able to play together, which is the intend of this game. We can only do this together! So all help is appreciated. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25939822/07c8a2254c8c9c19685609e1b1e819cb670863a6.jpgThe new Evolvation Launched - Time for a free weekend!Jun 21, 2019 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/25939822/d2f6bd81195534831d5f847b830ab4864aea1cad.jpg Dear Aliens, How’s space? So all help is appreciated. Experimental release competitive gamingFeb 18, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHello there community, A few months ago I started with overhauling Evolvation. First step for me was to revise the keys in the circulation. This led to the accidental ban of activated keys. As you all know, this was never the intention. To fix the mistake I made the game free to be permanently added to the library. Crazy enough this had lead to two million downloads within a couple of days and overloaded our servers. This unexpected explosion of the game was never intended. We were not ready at all and the game was far from finished! Unfortunately this had led to some negative reviews which I hoped to avoid since we knew that there were some improvements needed (which were planned to be overhauled, however we were not able to do that because of the unexpected commotion). However, the upside of this story is that we were able to gain a great community which is currently setup via Discord (https://discord.gg/qWkaTGQ). With the community we organized events and discussed a new gamemodel. Based on the input of this great community we started our planned overhaul of Evolvation. So after a couple of months of hard work I am happy to announce the experimental release of the new gamemodel! Of course, it is not done yet. We are releasing this experimental branch to test if out with you guys and gain new input to optimize the game. So, what does this new gamemodel mean? If you are interested in the proposal accepted by the community you are able to find it here: https://docs.hyperreuts.com/public-files/Evolvation_GamemodelProposal_3.0_HyperReuts_v1.6.pdf The most important changes of the experimental release includes at the moment: • New UI (With full credits of the design to @CaptainLel) • Finetuned the game for competitive gaming o Completely overhauled all ship statistics o Overhauled complete upgrading system. There is no upgrading system, only predefined weapons and unlockable weapons, skins, perks etc. o All weapon statistics are overhauled o Weapon weight added: different bonuses and penalties of the weapon based on weight and class of ship. E.g. heavy weapons have more effect on the maneuverability and speed on light and less powerful ships than ships with a heavy engine. o Class system overhauled: We now have 5 classes with natural opponents. Each class has a much stronger unique presence and abilities than before. This also includes a complete overhaul of each class statistic. o Class abilities overhauled: e.g. Backwards teleport (Highspeed), homing EMP (Support), Heatseaker (Tank) etc. o Class abilities are now energy based. Not based on cooldown. • New weapons: Shotgun and flakgun are added. • A new map, Planetary Combat, is added for experimental testing, it is finetuned for very intense combat • And a lot more! But I will not try to bore you with all the details for now. There are still a lot of things to be done before we can actually release this branch for instance: • We have problems with our login server. It sometimes take a bit longer t...Update on new developmentsFeb 17, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHello there, Small update here: Since the last couple of months we have gathered a lot of feedback from our community setup on Discord. Based on the input of the community we have redesigned the game and will publish a new experimental branch tomorrow for testing purposes only. If you would like to help test the game out, feel free to join our Discord community and participate within the community developments! So you will hear more from me tomorrow. After gaining a massive amount of very positive feedback and great suggestions about the proposed gamemodel, Jacob and I started today with designing and implementing the new model! We do not know how long this will take since we have to change a lot like setting up new datamodels, change the UI logic etc. etc. but ofcourse we will keep you up-to-date. When we are ready we want to share this experimental branch with you guys to test it out! We want to thank you guys graciously for all your extensive support and feedback. Without you guys we would never have come so far. There is still a long road before us, however, we truly believe that we can make this game really awesome together. Happy flying:Spaceship_Ride: Kind regards, Eric Party! Evolvation 2.3 releasedOct 21, 2018 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/25939822/74b744dc6bbaaef52de3598dc2405fa1cb7bddd6.jpg Bonjour les pilotes, We have two huge features this release which were requested a lot by our community: Joystick support and support for several languages. Read below for a more in detail update. Main features: * Joystick support (experimental) - Still experimental, since we feel this still has to be tuned. Please test it and let us know your ideas on how to improve this further. - Default bindings for Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas included - For other joysticks keybinds can be set in the options menu. If you like to get the keybinds for your Joystick added by default, please contact us on the Discord. * Localisation support - Added support for French language (see options menu) - Polish, Russian and Dutch translations are in progress Improvements: * Improvement to sounds (engine and rocket trail make less noise, while flares are louder) * Improved 3rd person camera, it now moves more smooth. * On the scoreboard spaceship names are now displayed instead of "fighter 1" etc. * Menu now scales better (was required for localization support). There is still a lot to be done here (we are redesigning the UI) - Bot strength increased - And a lot of small other things Bugfixes: * Fixed an issue for certain maps where other players were initially not visible and became visible after first respawn. * Fixed a bug with the support ship: lasers would sometimes bounce seemingly randomly when shooting. * Chat now properly scrolls down in case multiline text is added. * Fixed hosting of Free For All Matches * Negative count when flying outside of the level boundaries is now fixed * Bots no longer die at the end of a match * And a lot of small other things I would like to give a huge shoutout to all the people from the community that helped us for this release: For instance with the French translations (Colonel Mustard) and Extensive bugreports from a lot of people via the Discord Community (they keep us very busy :)) The community is currently working hard on further improvements of translations (Russian by mrlol and Polish by Blu') and a complete redesign of the UI (by CaptainLel). Next to those we are discussing a redesign of our current game model with a large group of people. I got a lot of questions about how people can get in personal contact with me or how to contribute to the game. In order to keep in contact and establish a great community together I have created a Discord Server. Here we people talking about creating new 3D models, Compositing Music, Translating the game for Localization, Filling bug reports and suggest new features and of course have fun an play together! So if you want to get in casual contact with the developers (Jacob and me), get in touch with the community, contribute or whatever, feel free to join our Discord channel. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/25939822/272c23ec3439068a3996f5dc57dfff6291748362.jpg Here is the invite link: https://discord.gg/qWkaTGQ Hope to see you guys there! I tried to listen to it as much as possible and just released a massive update on the controls. For instance, the mouse now has drag in it and does not instantly stop. Also, all spaceships are being upgraded with improved rotation speeds and maneuverability. This update also includes some bug fixes here and their like a bug wherein configurations could not be properly selected. Please let me know what you think. Greetings, Eric PS. I got a lot of request to make the game 60FPS, so I did. I hope you guys enjoy it. Furthermore we solved a lot of bugs like issue with map loading and crashes during map switching. These are fixed now. We also encountered focus issues with the mouse. As we tested and community confirmed, these are all solved. Besides that I upgraded the servers a bit so we are able to handle more requests. It is however still possible to encounter issues due to overload. Hope this makes you guys happy! I am going continue to work on multiple things like better controls and movement, more lightning, Linux support and more! With the kindest regards, EricThank youOct 9, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHi there supporters, My name is Eric Ruts. Together with a good friend I have created a game called Evolvation. During this exciting, but also exhausting two year development period, we finally launched the game out of early access. This is when we started to realize that the gaming market is undergoing an "indiepocalypse". There was sadly no way that the game would get anything near the attention and the amount of required players for a successful multiplayer game. This was a major down set for us since our only goal was to let people enjoy themselves by playing a fun multiplayer to play with friends. Since my motivation is purely to create a game which is fun to play with friends I decided to not monetize the game by introducing game-destroying features like pay-to-win concepts. This however did not work since I am not able to reach a large audience. The large part of our reviews are really positive and rewarding! Nearly all the negative reviews are about not having enough players online (and about how difficult the game is for noobs, haha). What a shame. I really wanted the game to succeed so I asked my friend Jacob if he wanted to help me out with rebranding the game. So we worked hard to optimize the servers, reducing the game from 16gb to a quarter of that, testing new controls etc. We wanted to show this on the gamecon Firstlook to test out the Evolvation 2.0. I once tried to boost the game by giving away 10.000 copies on SteamGifts. We chose to do this since we prioritize players having fun with our game instead of monetizing on it. We are just hobbyists. However, instead of playing most people used the keys for other purposes. I admit that I wanted to start our rebrand of the game with a clean slate so I made the stupid mistake to revoke the unredeemed keys and accidentally got the redeemed keys revoked to. I was spammed with hateful comments, negative reviews and accused of things like being “money hungry apes” and “scammer developers”. In minutes reddits and steamgifts forums exploded with these kind of things and I did not now what to do since it was never my intention to hurt anybody. I choked up and saw our work being destroyed in a matter of minutes… However, as soon I started to explain things and showed I wanted to do everything I possibly could I also got support of a lot of people which appreciated my honesty above all. Thank you very much for your support in this. However, after multiple tries Steam did not provide me with new keys to resupply or help to release the pressure. So what to do? I already had chosen that I find it more important that people enjoy the game than to monetize it. So to solve the problem I made the decision to make the game completely free with the knowledge that I would not be able to monetize. So I contacted Steam to make this happen for me and they came through. With all the negativity I encountered and have to deal with I really choked up and it made me feel very sad. However, I never expected that ...An indie developer misclicked, got review bombed and now their game's servers are "exploding"Oct 9, 2018 - EurogamerRemember the saying "there's no such thing as bad publicity"? Following the events of the last few days, at least one indie developer may disagree. Evolvation, a space flying shooter made by two people, was originally released in February 2017. Earlier this week, it had an average concurrent player count of one person. Fast forward to today, and there are currently 53,487 people in-game, with a new all-time peak of 172,870 set yesterday evening. Unsurprisingly, the sudden influx of new players is breaking the small indie game's servers. How on earth did this happen? Unbelievably, it apparently all began with one misclick. Read more… Servers overloaded, cannot loggin or select spaceshipsOct 8, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHi there, Concurrent logins are exploding!:Explosion_Blast: My server is not made for 180k people logging in at the same time so the servers are overloaded. You will encounter issues like not be able to log in (or long login times). And if you are logged in you probably cannot see any spaceships since they are loaded from the datebase. I am sorry for the inconvience. In the meantime we are upgrading the servers but we cannot act in a matter of hours. We hope this is fixed within 24 hours! I also expect a lot less concurrent logins at that time. I do not have the money (or receiving any) to setup a server which is able to process 180k concurrent requests. So bear with me and try the game in a couple of days :) Hope to see you soon in game. Game made temporarily freeOct 8, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsUpdate: 17:56 GMT 8 October: Hi there Pilots, I've had contact with Steam and we decided to make the game temporarily free of now regarding the accidental key ban. So you are able to add it to your library. Hopes this helps you guys out and solves the issue. I am losing big time here, but I did this so the issue is being solved. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Feel free to add the game to your library! Hope to see you guys in game soon! Greetings, Eric Just a hobbyist PS. Tutorial does not work, forgot to include the maps in the package. Currently updating the game. Also, making mouse controls default. Another PS. Server is overloaded due to unexpected amount of logins. Another update: Just improved the server and is now able to handle much more request. Also, the small bugs are fixed and mouse controls are set by defaultAccidental revokes keys explanation, please view my updates here:Oct 1, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsNote: Latest update last First update after couple of minutes after accidental revoke: Hi there! The developer here. I am trying to rebrand the game, have a lot of updates ready etc. But a lot of games are being sold illegally. So i just tried the "ban keys options" but it was a mistake that also some activated keys got banned (Just happened). I want to make it up to you guys. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it? Honest mistake, Eric ---- Update 10 minutes later: - I have setup the mail: [email protected] where you are able to request a key. - I have asked Valve for new keys -- I have asked Valve to undo the ban - I will contact SG admin if they are able to sent new keys to the winners list, -- Already in contact with SG I have developed this game together with one friend and invested nearly all our savings in this game. There is sadly no way that we have the capacity to get near the attention or players that is required for a multiplayer game, unlike the major publishers. With the new updates coming I hope to establish a player base so we are able to play together, which is the intend of the game. That is also why I did give away 10.000 keys. In order to get a playerbase or people who would love to help an indie to reach some audience and just develop a fun game. It was very sad to see that a major amount was sold illegally. This sucked since our total revenue of our game in all time was never even larger than 100 dollars (Excluding taxes and cuts). However, it a a quite good game besides there is no player base. That is why I am trying to re-brand the game. The first course of action was to ban the unused games which are being sold illegally. This actually had led to this forum in a couple of seconds. I am deeply sorry that I made a honest mistake and want to fix it immediately. I love the irony that nobody plays the game, however the moment I made a mistake I reach an audience bigger than I have ever got. Thank you all for responding this fast! This gives me the strength to develop further and make even more games, even though I make mistakes. Love, Eric ---- Update 19:45 GMT 30 September 2018: Done everything I can for now: - Contacted Valve and SG about the mistake of the ban of the keys - I am waiting for a response for a fix. I asked steam to un-ban, made sure that SG knows that it was not your fault and you get un-banned - In the meantime I work on redundant solves (if needed) such as asking Steam for keys to re-give and asking SG to re-give them ---- Update 04:13 GMT 1 October 2018: - Valve denied my request of new keys without explanation. Requested again with better explanation... - Evolvation is whitelisted on SG, this should solve the ban i guess? --- Update 19:05 GMT 1 October 2018: - Still waiting on response of Steam. Request are being denied without explanation. I even requested to make the game completely free for a week so the problem can be solved. I am just an indie which is trying hard. In the mean time...
