Era of Combat: Boxing

Patch 0.858 (Bug fix - Observer Mode)Apr 25, 2024 - Community Announcements- Fixed a bug where sometimes an observer leaving the match could end the matchUpdate Notes (0.857) - Hit SpamApr 17, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsThis update tackles and limits additional illegal hits during PvP sparring.Update Notes: 0.856Apr 15, 2024 - Community Announcements- I took a close look at wrist and knuckle alignment and believe I have solved the issue of backhands, hammer fists, many other illegal blows etc... so as of the coming update these hits will result in little to no damage during combat. It will be interesting to hear how that affects matches moving forward. - Additionally, I noticed a problem when throwing hooks on the bag, sometimes the hit wouldn't register when it should, and made the experience feel a bit broken at times. Players have been reporting this bug as the feeling of "ghosting" through your opponent. This has been addressed and shouldn't pop up any more. This should result in more satisfying hits landing in matches going forward as well, especially when it felt as though you missed and should have landed a blow. - Enjoy! We're working on guard next.Update 0.855: New Venue - The VoidJan 17, 2024 - Community Announcements- This update adds a new venue, The Void, a high FPS venue for those interested in a no distraction high quality fight. - This update also open up weight classes for crossplay matches.Update 0.852 - Regional PvP Crossplay LobbiesDec 19, 2023 - Community Announcements- Networking rehash - this isn't obvious right away but took 98% of the time. It allows faster development moving forward - Faster disconnection detection with options to return to home gym after disconnect using controller button press - there still might be instances of getting stranded, so if you find them, drop me a note with the context and I'll patch it up and get it back to you - Voice chat for AppLab and in crossplay matches - you need to enable it in game AND, on your Quest2/3 headset you MUST enable you mic either during game installation or by going to the app settings in your Quest hardware menu and toggling to ON. Meta is pretty strict about this and devs cannot force it on from in game. It's a good idea really, but means a bit more work for you. - Regional lobbies for crossplay: Quest players can now select to use the best region based on ping when hosting. NOTE: when a player is trying to join your lobby, they will NOT see it unless they select the same region as you list your lobby in. This will drastically improve the ping for AppLab players in the same region (IE Japan). - Quickmatch and Invite a friend options have been removed from AppLab. I found that wireless connectivity issues plaguing the Quest2 really interfered with these modes. I'll probably add them back in down the road, but functionally, lobbies seemed to be more popular anyway (and much more stable).Major Update 00.850 - CROSSPLAYOct 7, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsCrossplay Lobbies & Observers! - THANK YOU for your patience while we released the Quest2 Version of EOC! Crossplay is NOW available between Steam and Quest2 players! Also, Steam players may now OBSERVE crossplay matches! - We'll be back to regular content releases now that the crossplay work has been completed and the Quest2 version is live.Update 00.842 - Crossplay Networking Infrastructure Ahead of Quest2 ReleaseApr 7, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsThis update contains significant network updates including the larger part of the infrastructure needed to support crossplay with the standalone Quest2 platform. Note that the Quest2 standalone version is about 85% complete at this point. I have also completed the new/updated scheduling server and am working on the crossplay server at the same time as I work on the Quest2 version. Lots of new players coming into the game, not sure what is driving that influx, but it's exciting! Thank you all for your patience and support!Update & Patch 00.841 - Venue Optimizations and more...Jan 7, 2023 - Community Announcements- Close lobbies that do not allow observers and already have a competitor (ie. no room to join) - Disable with a reminder, the ability to join/create a lobby using the regular guest/host method for scheduled match hosts and guests to limit confusion about how to join (using the big new button). Just during the scheduled match start time of course. - Crowd dynamics and venue structure optimizations to save framerates in large venues - All venue load times reduced drastically! Update 00.840: Web-Based Match Scheduling and Email RemindersJan 4, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsThe Match Scheduling Web Portal is it's own system, and contains the following features for players: - View your upcoming match schedule from anywhere you can reach a web browser: - Withdraw from these matches - Create new matches requesting a competitor - Accept new matches that have been listed - Get email reminders one hour before matches - Get email notifications when someone joins/withdraws from your match *If you already signed up you do not need to again. How to use it? - Head into the game and the Match Scheduling section on the wall menu (big chalkboard) - Enter your PvP alias if you have not yet done so - Click on the Web portal - Enter an email and a password for the web portal - Choose to receive email reminders or not - Submit the info and wait for a validation email (check your junkmail and spam filters because it could end up there) - If you don't get the email within ten minutes or so you can resubmit your details which will generate another validation email for you, same process to change your email or password - Click the link in the welcome email which validates your email address - The link also takes you to the match scheduling portal where you can login after validation - Log in! Notes: The service can be slow. Please be patient with it, and as more people start using web scheduling I'll upgrade the service hardware so it will run faster. Often the requests are instant, but sometimes they hang for 5-15 seconds depending on how bogged down the system is. But you never need to spam click, doing that resets your button presses and you'll have to wait longer. So one click does the trick and leads to better results 🙂 As always, please let me know whenever something seems off and I'll look into it as soon as possible. As with all things game dev, expect hiccups as the service matures. Very best to you all!Update 00.835: Interface tweaks and web portal support structureJan 1, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsPatch 00.835 going up. This is likely the last patch before web-based scheduling and match email notifications release - it's mostly back end but adds a lot of stuff like automated time zoning so you don't have to do any calculations to figure out match times online etc. I also added a bunch of warnings about the state of solo play. It's absolutely incredible to us how many people buy the game without reading any of the warnings and then post reviews without trying multiplayer. I've put more warnings in the Steam store AND in-game. Solo mode will come, but it's just never been the focus, so it lags far behind PvP and will for quite a while as PvP gets the attention. Happy New Year everyone! 2023 is upon us! First update of the brilliant New Year!Update 00.834 - Match Scheduling Web Portal RegistrationDec 29, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsAdds a new button in the match scheduling menu to register for the web portal and opt in/out of email notifications about your match schedule. Quick note that the web service isn't live yet, but moving to finish that now.Patch 00.833Dec 28, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsCompatibility patch for upcoming match scheduling web portal serviceSmall Patch 00.832Dec 27, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsBug fix in Match Scheduling (scheduling would not reconnect when coming back into main gym after a match)Match Scheduling Patch (00.831)Dec 24, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsChanges coming shortly for the match scheduler. PLUS, match history now uses a page system instead of a scrollable window (blue chalk arrows beneath match history will nav multiple pages). This should clean up the lower framerates for boxer's who have extensive match histories. - Note that all scheduling and withdrawing for match scheduling is still done on the main wall/global menu. But now all match join functions have been broken out and show clearly in their own mini display. The button unlocks for the host at the time of the match, and for the guest when the host has begun the scheduled match. - A few other notes: You can't schedule a new match closer than three hours away (the idea being that people need time to see the match and accept it, so those time blocks will not be available to you to book (within three hours of your current time). Very open to changing this after the system is ironed out. - You can however accept a match that has been posted up until an hour before (it will be cancelled after that). Large Update: Match Scheduling System / 00.830Dec 18, 2022 - Community Announcements- Open beta of the large match scheduling system. Check Discord for more info but here are the highlights: - Reputation: you start with 50 and max out at 100. - Your reputation goes down for missing matches, you lose more rep points the closer to a match you cancel / don't show up for. - You gain reputation by showing up on time for scheduled matches you accept - Reputation is used to schedule matches and accept scheduled matches offered by other players - Players can schedule/accept more matches every week if they have higher reputation - Matches can be scheduled with a minimum reputation threshold to join, so you can limit unreliable players from accepting your scheduled matched if you want to - Your list of scheduled matches will appear in the global section of the wall board/menu - From there you can withdraw from / join your matches as they become live - There is no need to set up a lobby, this is all done automatically for you (observers can join when live) - You have 5mins to join your match at the scheduled time (matches can be scheduled every 30mins), if you miss your match, your reputation takes a hit - Players receive notifications in-game when their match is about to begin / in the future you will be able to sign up for optional email reminders / book online/via phone - Matches without both opponents confirmed are cancelled automatically within an hour of scheduled start time - Matches must be booked at least 3hrs ahead of time and can be booked up to a week ahead - A sparring/match calendar provides the weekly schedule for you and you use it to accept and create scheduled matches Update 0.828 / Scheduling Framework AdditionsDec 13, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsStill pushing up the match scheduling framework - just around the corner now!Update 00.827 / Opening Up Pro MatchesDec 7, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsIn -game cash is being dropped as a requirement for Pro matches. The reason for this is because I don't want to force a bot grind. So cash will now only be used for the solo game, though I'll play around with some ideas like betting on matches down the road and maybe just earning (instead of spending cash) during PvP pro matches. I want to get the scheduling system and Oculus port done first though - Venues now will be completely host choice. So you won't be forced into a bigger venue for your pro matches. - You'll need to choose your PvP Pro Alias before playing pro matches so that leaderboards and the ranking system can kick in - Fixed OTS shots in the observer modes as wellUpdate 00.826 - PvP Alias AvailableDec 4, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsYou can now reserve your PvP alias ahead of match and tournament scheduling. Do so in the global wall menu.Update 00.825 - Server FunctionsDec 4, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsTransport updatesServer Function Compatibility Update (00.824)Dec 3, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsUnder-the-hood function pack for the upcoming match scheduling expansion.
