Element TD 2

Next Version UpdateMar 16, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsWe hired a couple of performance consultants for our other game, Axon TD: Uprising. Thankfully some of the findings there can be applied to Element TD 2! Of particular note is an algorithm change for the unit search function. For those who get low FPS late game, especially in co-op, you will see huge FPS gains. That algorithm change slightly alters the balance of the game. So we will take the opportunity to do a few tower balance changes (leaning towards buffs). As a result the leaderboards will be reset. We'll also start a new season of Ranked play. One quality of life change is very noteworthy. This is a long overdue feature that we're lifting from Axon TD. Singleplayer will be able to submit to leaderboards without having to be online. That means no latency when going for leaderboard runs. And also no disconnects. The update is a few months out so please join the balance discussion on Discord to contribute your feedback in the meantime!Small HotfixFeb 22, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsThe Challenger achievement has been expanded to top 30 on any leaderboard. This version was built with a new build of Unity (our game engine) hence the download size.Language Update, Performance Update, Network UpdateDec 26, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsA small update for the holidays! Turkish now fully localized Setting change to shift some CPU workload to GPU New and improved servers for South America, South East Asia, and East Asia regions Also, we hired a performance consultant to analyze Axon TD: Uprising and a major recommendation coming out of that in theory should be applicable to Element TD 2. If all goes well, there will be a major performance improvement patch Q1 of next year that should, as a result of improving CPU performance, also reduce desyncs.Last Element TD 2 Feature UpdateSep 30, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsIt's been a long time but there were a few things that we still wanted to add! Fixes Path Hover has been added to the game! Simply hover over any spawn portal to see where the creeps are going. Massive localization improvements. Virtually complete coverage. Only Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Swedish, Italian, Russian, and Portuguese at the moment but more languages coming soon. Texture resolution of most creeps and a few builders upscaled. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/5d32b762a9bd9edf96fa270e5f9239f6436bffa9.gifCaption. If you're fluent in Japanese, Turkish, Korean, Czech, German, Italian, French, Russian, Romanian, Portuguese, or Dutch and willing to help translate please let us know on Discord or DM me. This will be the last feature update but there are still hotfixes to come that will add more language support. We hope that you continue to enjoy Element TD 2!Our next game, Axon TD, is in Early Access!Aug 2, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsWe've just released our next game, Axon TD: Uprising, into Steam Early Access! Check it out here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2296550/Axon_TD_Uprising__Tower_Defense/ Choose from an arsenal of 32 Towers & Traps and extend the path by adding Tiles directly to the map itself. We'll be running it through our Discord (check #tournament-discussion and General Voice), so hop on there to check it out! We'll be starting at the following time: 10am PDT (US) 1pm EST (US) 7pm CET (EU) 1am CST (Asia) 2nd Non-Mazing TournamentMay 10, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsWe've got another Element TD 2 Tournament coming up, this time for Non-Mazing Pick! Sign-ups start now. Though before we move on to the rules, let's address a little something... Why isn't it Mazing? For those of you on our Discord, you may recall us doing a poll sometime back asking if you'd prefer this tournament to be Mazing or Non-Mazing, and the response was majority Mazing by a long shot. We want it to be Mazing as well, but unfortunately, there's a bug that we have no explanation for that only happens in multiplayer. Numerous folks have reported this issue where, in Mazing, creeps will spontaneously just ignore the grid. Sometimes it involves walking through your towers, and sometimes it involves walking over the terrain itself. The weirdest part about this bug is that it doesn't happen in Replays, meaning that on the client, it's working perfectly fine. Because of that, we've decided we cannot, in good conscience, run this tournament as Mazing. Should we ever find a fix for this bug, then we may consider running a Mazing tourney in the future, but for now, this one in particular will be Non-Mazing. We apologize for the false promise. Now without further ado, let's move on to sign-ups and rules! How to Sign Up Sign-ups for the 2nd Element TD 2 Tournament are now live! We'll be organizing the tournament through the Discord. That said, here's how to enter: If you haven't already, join our Discord. Next, there's a channel on there called #tournament-signup. Go there and comment with your name in that channel. Please note that the name you enter here should be the name you use on both Discord and Steam during the event. Signups will close on June 3rd or when a maximum of 128 participants have entered. When and Where? The tournament will be played online, and it'll run June 17th-18th. Each day of the event, we'll start at the following time: 10am PDT (US) 7pm CET (EU) 1am CST (Asia) On the first day of the event, players are expected to check in half an hour before the first match starts. Depending on the number of participants, the number of matches per set may vary. Each day is expected to run upwards of 4-6 hours. Rules All matches shall be played in accordance with the established rules of a Ranked Pick game: Map: Random, Non-variant Difficulty: Very Hard Element: Pick Length: Short Paths: Standard Game Speed: Turbo Lite (x1.5) Interest: Enabled Tower Ban Phase: Enabled Conditions: Anything possible within the bounds of the game mechanics is allowed. The winner is determined by which player lives the longest before the boss waves, or scores the highest if the game reaches boss waves. At the end of a match all players must submit a screenshot of the results, along with a replay of the match in the dedicated channel or thread on the discord to confirm the results. In the event of a Desync, the following applies: The one with the Most Lives before the Desync wins that match. If lives are identical, we go by number of First Wave Clears. Using t...Version 1.9.1 - Ranked ResetApr 28, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsRanked has been reset, moving us on to Season 6. This will likely be the last reset for a long time. Enjoy climbing the ranks again! Fixes & Improvements Slingshot Bosses no longer yeet each other indefinitely. Fixed Mazing Campaign M11 not giving you the achievement properly even if you had an Level 4 Single/Periodic. FYI, we'll be posting up details of our next Tournament next week. Lastly, we'll be hosting an AMA on Reddit on Saturday, April 29th, at 12pm CST. We'll be posting the link on our Discord. Bring on all your questions!Version 1.9 - New Co-op Mazing Maps, Balance, FixesApr 21, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsIt's been a little while in here, but we're back, and we've brought Version 1.9 with us! Contained within are a couple new Mazing Co-op Maps, fixes, and the last balance update for a while. Read on for more info! 2 New Mazing Co-op Maps For those of you that have the Mazing DLC, we've added a pair of new Co-op Maps! Gemini {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/d00fa4dcaa400ba23fba552cdf348614e5ecf28f.jpg A map composed of 4 large islands, each containing two spawns. For those of you that love the abusable nature of checkpoints in the Space map, in Gemini, creeps head for a checkpoint before proceeding to the end. Enjoy breaking this map! Mega Spiral {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/d44b913f0463de7255d37ff9b6244e286c00595a.jpg A massive spiral connects each area. Each player's spawn goes through their area + the next player's area before they reach the end. Except the last player, theirs teleports to the middle area. While not quite as abusable as Gemini, it has a lot of flexibility for building your maze how you please. Fixes & Improvements Unity Version upgraded from 2020.3.21 to 2020.3.42. You now start the Campaign with 1 extra point. Fixed "pink portals" on Mission 25 of the Campaign. Fixed Jinx effect not applying to creeps that have been split by Shredder Tower. Fixed Polar effect not working on creeps once they reach a high enough HP. Balance General Tower Build Times have been increased by 0.5 seconds per tier. This should make building/upgrading towers a bit riskier and easier to push. And in Random, this will also make Buy/Sell spam much easier to punish. Interest Upgrade increased from 0.6% to 0.65%. You are now granted two freebie Essences: one after clearing Wave 50, and another after clearing Wave 55. Essence Upgrade can now only be picked once, and grants 2 Essences. Tower Balance Light Level 4 damage increment for consecutive hits increased from 1296 to 1404. Darkness on-kill HP removal increased from 9% to 12% Water Level 4 damage reduced from 38880 to 35640 Fire Level 4 damage increased from 12960 to 14040 Damage gain per second increased from 432 to 468 Nature Level 4 damage reduced from 41040 to 37620 Earth Level 4 shockwave damage increased from 15120 to 17640 Lightning Level 3 bounces reduced from 6 to 5 Bloom attack speed recharge rate reduced from 1 to 0.9 per second Mushroom damage reduced from 490 to 450 Poison damage-over-time reduced from 65 to 60 Solar debuff duration from 5 to 6 Flooding damage increased from 470 to 500 Root damage per second reduced from 100 to 90 Muck damage reduced from 1000 to 900 Obelisk AoE increment gain reduced from 50 to 25 Archdruid attack speed increased from 0.33 to 0.4 As usual, Score Leaderboards have been reset. We'll be doing a follow-up patch next weekend to properly reset Ranked Leaderboards. This may be the last time that Leaderboards are reset for a long, long time. A few weeks ago, we announced Axon TD: Uprising, and at this point, just about all of our efforts have shifted over there. As thus,...Axon TD: Uprising - New Game AnnouncementMar 30, 2023 - Community Announcements"It was supposed to be a simple mission. Get in, defend the colony, and get paid. Instead, I found myself trapped on the planet, caught in a war between mankind and a robot uprising. In the end, I'm not sure who I should be fighting for..." Axon TD: Uprising What is Axon TD? Axon TD is a mazing-centric tower defense where you manipulate the map layout to your advantage. Build towers, make the longest maze, and survive against an onslaught of enemies! In the Campaign, you'll play as a defense contractor on a routine mission. But when you arrive, your ship is shot down, and you're attacked by a robotic force called the Axons. Your only way off the planet now is to fight. Build towers, secure each location, and push back against the Axons! And perhaps, find out the truth behind the war... {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/7aef87a9cc0eb077a592aa477ecedfd9ec5c102b.gif Be free of your restrictions and maze how you please! Ways to Play Outside of the Campaign, there's three major modes: Quick Play: Pick a level, choose your Tower Loadout, and try to beat it! Survival Mode: A longform mode that has you start with minimal towers and space, but throughout the course of the game, you'll receive randomized expansions that you can place where you please, and slowly grow your loadout. Just beating all the waves is a challenge in of itself. Online Co-op: These are larger levels designed for 2, 3, or 4 players. Each of you chooses your Tower Loadout before the game begins, and then you're free to build where you please. Coordinate with your team, transfer resources, and try to clear each level! All three of these modes support Global Leaderboards. When will it release? Axon TD will release in Early Access in Q3. By then, it will contain the following: 32 Towers, Traps, and Mines 8 Castable Abilities Chapters 1 & 2 of the Campaign Numerous Quick Play Levels Survival Mode Co-op with up to 4 Players Leaderboards for Quick Play, Survival, and Co-op And an actual Tutorial How does this game differ from Element TD 2? The speed, scale, and style of the game is very different, even from Element TD 2's Mazing Mode. You choose your Towers at the start of the game. You've got unlimited time between each waves. You have a limit to how much you can sell, making each placement really matter. And you can directly manipulate the map to add pathways that didn't exist before. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/3f014796e95a2e8cf18ceb336f34576382e8b7e3.gif On some levels, you can even change where the "end" is. Will there be Workshop Support? Hypothetically, this would include the ability to create custom maps for Quick Play and Co-op. We don't know when it'll happen, but we're making Workshop Support a top priority for this game. Wishlist Axon TD https://store.steampowered.com/app/2296550/Axon_TD_Uprising__Tower_Defense/ Arriving in Q3 2023. Hop on...Element Studios Plans for 2023Feb 4, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings! It's been a little while since we last posted. 2 months ago, we released the Mazing DLC, and it's gotten overall positive reception. Player counts for the game have been up since then, and we've seen a good influx of new and returning players. As for us, we've been working quietly in the background, both on Element TD 2... and maybe a new project. Below is a list of upcoming things we're working on: Version 1.9 Coming on Friday, March 31st, we'll be releasing Version 1.9. This will be the last major patch for the game (for the foreseeable future). Contained within it will be 2 More Mazing Co-op Maps, one last round of Cosmetics, balance updates, resets for Ranked & Score Leaderboards, and various fixes. Speaking of those Co-op Mazing Maps, we're looking for designs to implement. If you've got a cool idea you want to see added to the game, hop onto our Discord and post it in #map-ideas! Some things to consider: People really like the Space map, especially due to how open it is plus how abusable the Checkpoints are. We want to make use of Checkpoints for at least one of these two maps. Path lengths can only go so long before it imposes a framerate drop. So for example, if all the paths are capable of circling the map twice over, that's unfortunately a no-go. We'll be locking in which designs we implement within the next 2 weeks. Another Tournament! Sometime during Q2 2023, we'll be doing another Tournament. This time, the settings will be: Map: Random, Non-Variant Difficulty: Very Hard Element Selection: Pick Length: Full Paths: Standard Wave Order: Normal As for whether it's Mazing or not, we'd actually like your input on that. On one hand, the game is not balanced around Mazing. On the other hand, it's fresh and seems to be the preferable game mode. Be aware that Casual will not be on, meaning you can't immediately go for the longest maze and stall a ton of interest. That said, comment below which you'd prefer! We'll also be running a poll on our Discord. Next Project Announcement! By the end of Q1 2023, we'll be formally announcing out next game project! We've been silently working on it on the background for some time now. For the time being, know that it's a Tower Defense, and it's not related to Element TD 2. When we announce it, expect a short trailer, some info, and a release window! Fret not, although our resources are shifting to the next project, Element TD 2 is not forgotten! We've got a few more things to look forward to over here. Just to clarify, we'll continue updating Element TD 2 throughout the year, it's just that after 1.9, the fixes will be focused on bug fixes and quality of life. Otherwise, that's what we've been working on lately! Apologies if we've been quiet on that front, but with work split between two game projects, we've been quite busy. Look forward to our upcoming stuff this year!Version 1.8.8 - More Fixes and Performance ImprovementsFeb 3, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsFixes and Improvements Towers now instantly build in Campaign wave breaks. Health bars have been optimized for performance. Fixed Casual mode toggle not being remembered when creating multiple lobbies in a session. Fixed the Casual mode Scoreboard Creep column not accounting for game length. Fixed an issue where going into a ranked game and then playing single player would result in you being unable to quit out. Fixed an issue where playing Mega Survival Online resulted in a single lane instead of two. Fixed an issue where Co-op replays were displaying the wrong starting gold. Version 1.8.7 - More Fixes, Localization, Tournament, Co-op MapsJan 10, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsFixes and Improvements Fixed Mazing Campaign not saving progress across different devices via Steam cloud. Fixed Mission 14 of the Mazing Campaign not ending when all the bosses were killed before creeps were done spawning. Fixed "Avalanche Avenger" achievement being impossible to unlock. Fixed Balanced Paths in Co-op not being reflected correctly in replays. Fixed "No Blocker Limit" option not listing that it made the session ineligible for achievements. Updated Russian Localization News We will be holding another tournament before the summer! We plan to add two more Mazing co-op maps. We're looking for map layout ideas so please visit #map-ideas on our Discord if you have one. Fixed Mega Survival only using 1 Path Fixed Tropical Teams Mazing creeps not coming from both portals Improved German localization Improved Spanish localization Also, for the Steam Winter Sale, you can acquire Element TD 2 for 50% off, so gift it to your friends, family, enemies, and everyone in-between! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1018830/Element_TD_2__Tower_Defense/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/2177070/Element_TD_2__Mazing_Expansion/Version 1.8.5 - More Mazing FixesDec 9, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsFixes & Improvements Fixed an issue with being unable to fail the achievement in Mission 3 of the Mazing campaign. Fixed an issue where the achievement in Mission 6 would display as being failed when it wasn't. Fixed an issue where the Campaign Loadout wouldn't remember that you had had turned Recommendations Off. Fixed an issue where the No Blocker Limit option didn't toggle for other players in a lobby. Fixed an issue where the No Blocker Limit option wouldn't properly deactivate when you toggled Play Offline in Survival. Fixed an issue where loading a Checkpoint in the first 5 waves of a campaign mission would put you at wave 2. Fixed an issue where Loading a replay of Autumn, Temple or Space on the Mazing Leaderboard would load Forest Mazing instead. Fixed an issue where watching a Mazing replay would give you achievements. Fixed an issue where the buff indicator from Blacksmith, Well, Trickery and Life Altar would not display in Mazing. Fixed an issue where you could not sell allied blockers in Teams and Co-op Mazing after they had disconnected. Fixed an issue with the 500 and 1000 score map achievements in Mazing Korean and Swedish Localization updated Version 1.8.4 - Mazing HotfixesDec 4, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsFixes & Improvements In Mazing, creeps speed up each wave. Players were noting creeps were speeding up too fast, especially in later waves, so we scaled it back by roughly 5% to 10% (depending on the stage of the game). In Casual Mode, what wave each player is on is now listed on the Scoreboard. Attempted a fix that may reduce the chance of missed events/inputs in Multiplayer. If this works, this may reduce desyncs. Fingers crossed. Fixed creeps would suddenly ignore the laws of physics and bypass the mazing grid entirely. Fixed Mazing Campaign unlocking out of order. Fixed Damage Chart not working for Current & Previous. Fixed selecting Random Map in Singleplayer Mazing resulting in a Non-Mazing Map. Fixed shorter Lengths not accounting for the scaling Blocker Gain. Fixed trying to build a tower on a Trickery Clone while at Max Blocker Cap would prevent you from building the tower. Fixed Mazing Teams Map Previews showing up as blank screens when zoomed in. Fixed some error log spam on Winter & Temple. Fixed camera bounds on Temple cutting off Players 4 & 8 from accessing their maps properly. Fixed Co-op Entries on the Leaderboard not showing up. Chinese, Japanese, German localization for the Mazing DLC applied. More languages will be applied over the next few weeks, as well as the updated Specialization tooltips. We're also aware of the price of the DLC being higher than intended in certain regions; we've submitted the request to Valve, hopefully they'll get it fixed soon. If you've reported a bug that hasn't been fixed in the above patch, worry not, we're working on them internally. There'll probably be a Version 1.8.5 with more fixes later this week. So far, reception to the Mazing DLC has been fairly positive. The game has been a lot more active, and a lot of people have been telling us personally they enjoy the game, even directly after reporting a bug, which has been really energizing for us. If you can, leave us a review on the DLC Store Page. The more reviews, the more visibility, and the more players we'll likely have!Incorrect DLC Regional Pricing - Edit: FixedDec 3, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsEDIT: Regional pricing has been fixed! It has come to our attention that in some currencies, particularly South American, the price of the DLC is more than half of the price of the base game. This is not intended. We have submitted correct pricing to Valve and as soon as they approve it this will be fixed. I really apologize for the inconvenience.Mazing DLC Out Now!Dec 2, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsAt last, the time has come. The Mazing Expansion has finally released! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2177070/Element_TD_2__Mazing_Expansion/ From now through December 9th, you can get the DLC on sale for 20% off at $5.59! We've also got a fancy trailer for it, courtesies of community member wadebbqwall2. Check it out below! For the full details of what this expansion entails, read on for the full notes! Mazing Mode How Does Mazing Work? Located on the left of your Build Bar, you have access to the Blocker. This is a limited resource that costs no gold, meant to make the path longer. https://i.imgur.com/k61zZE1.gif As you place Blockers, the path will automatically adjust. By default, you'll start with 20 Blockers. Each wave you clear, you gain 1 Blocker, and every 5 waves, you gain 2 Blockers instead. The bonus you get every 5 waves increases over time. The number of Blockers you have also acts as your Tower Limit. In Co-op, you start with 30 Blockers. However, these aren't just for increasing the path length. They also let you build Towers directly on them. Selling a Tower will always leave a Blocker behind. This way, you don't accidentally open up a hole in your path. Changes made to the maze mid-wave won't cement in place until the next wave starts. This prevents you from accidentally opening a hole mid-wave, or routing creeps through an infinite loop via buy/sell abuse of Blockers. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/fc8c56fd49d6c3153b6ea8eff50a924680700f69.jpg What are those yellow portals? What's in the Mazing DLC? The expansion contains the following: A Mazing Campaign featuring 14 Missions This has its own Loadout & Progression, separate from the Main Campaign 10 New FFA/Teams Mazing Maps 4 New Co-op Mazing Maps Mazing Leaderboards for each of the new maps With 10 Pick + 10 Random + 10 Teams + 4 Co-op Leaderboards, that's a total of 34 Mazing Leaderboards! Tack that on to the existing leaderboards, and we've got 72 + 34 = 106 Total Leaderboards New Achievements specific to Mazing To be precise, including multi-tiered Achievements and "clones" for each map, there are 174 Mazing Achievements. Happy hunting! In order to access any of the singleplayer content or host games, you need the expansion. However, you do not need the expansion to join Mazing lobbies online. You're also not restricted from getting Mazing Achievements or getting entries on the leaderboard. It's just going to be a lot harder to practice any of that relying solely on others to host lobbies though. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/01ff11eff947df4a2f7703fedc4786b6073866cb.jpg Check out this magical Railgun snipe that perfectly avoids clipping the terrain or architecture. Mazing Q&A Below is a list of questions and technicalities we've seen people ask about over the last few months. What are those yellow Portals I see on certain maps? Those are Teleporters. When creeps pass through one, they appear through a different Teleporter. You'll be able to see based on how the path line goe...Version 1.8.2 - Campaign and Ban FixNov 27, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsImprovements & Fixes Fixed an issue where you couldn't ban or use the tower table in ranked pick or war Fixed an issue where the final boss of the campaign got stuck and gave out pathing cheat codes to the creeps Improvements to localization across multiple languages Mazing DLC - Date, Price, and MoreNov 24, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsAlright, let's get straight to the point here: The Mazing Expansion launches on Friday, December 2nd for $6.99! You can go ahead and Wishlist the DLC by clicking here. On top of that, you can get the base game for 40% off, so if you know any friends you'd like to turn into enemies for a discounted price, now's the best time! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/7717d59230e4a88556cd67cfea4eb89505169dbb.jpg Coming soon to a Steam Storefront near you! What is the Mazing Expansion? This is a DLC that adds a new mode to the game called Mazing. Here, you build directly on the path, and your towers act as blockers that obstruct and extend the path that creeps must travel to reach the end. This mode is fully supported in both Singleplayer and Multiplayer. What's included in the expansion? Mazing Campaign featuring 14 Missions, each with their own Achievements 10 New FFA/Teams Mazing Maps 4 New Co-op Mazing Maps Mazing Leaderboards for each of the new maps New Achievements specific to Mazing Do I need the expansion to play online? In order to access any of the singleplayer content or host games, you need the expansion. However, you do not need the expansion to join Mazing lobbies online. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/1825325eea6bd9426cabbe4cd0bcb3de78d59c3c.jpg Mazes in Co-op can get pretty ludicrous. That's it for our last info dump before the DLC releases. Thank you to everyone that participated in the Open Alpha / Open Beta and assisted in testing and feedback. Just over a week remains till it releases. Look forward to it! Thank you to everyone that participated in the Tournament! Our first Same Random Tournament was held this past weekend to great success! 40 people ended up participating in it, helping to give a resurgence in the game and community as a whole. Congratulations to our Top 3 Winners: _Tobias_ YOYO Scamper9 In all likelihood, we'll be running another Same Random Tournament in a few months, probably following Version 1.9 and another host of balance adjustments. We will also likely do something to make buy/sell abuse riskier in Random in that version. In the meantime, Version 1.8.2 (to be released with the Mazing Expansion) will see Ranked Random starting from Short Length. The first 10 waves are basically unpushable and too good for "farming", so cutting them should help for now. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36711703/63fc92098e3de86e9c78259769675a5cecdd247d.jpg See that horrible use of mazing up top? Don't maze like that. You'll make our designer cry.
