It's so good to meat you! (Dang, what a bad one... So sorry, but I couldn't help myself! 😅) But in our defence, I have to say that it's really a state of emergency here right now. In a figurative sense, I mean! Because tomorrow (finally!!!), Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine will see the light of your hard drives, and that's why we might be a teensy bit excited. But really only a very little bit... That's why we can't give you a longer text update post today. And that's why we'd like to use today's update to tell you openly and honestly what you can expect from Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine. So, let's go! Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine in a nutshell: Genre: action puzzle game Number of worlds: 6 overall Number of levels: 120 (20 levels in each world) Number of clones: 16 Number of evolutionary stages of the clones: 4 Number of bosses: 6 (1 boss in each world, you might know them from the Meat Boy games...) Average estimated playtime for a single playthrough: approx. 6-9 hours Average estimated playtime for all levels rated A+: approx. 1 1/2 hours (in the case you never die!) Have you ever wondered what Dr. Fetus does when he’s not trolling the internet and just generally being angry at Meat Boy? Well, as super-fans of Super Meat Boy, we asked ourselves the same question and came up with a wacky response … in the form of Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine. A while back, our team wanted to do something cool in the Meat Boy universe, and being friends with Team Meat; we figured they’d be ok with that, right? Well, we came up with an idea for a Match-4 puzzle game, secretly grabbed some meaty assets from online sources, even more secretly crafted an entire game, then showed it to Team Meat. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43807843/ff4cf78ad8f84de8c6ffcc22cbe71657b90c0f3b.png The very early days of "Dr. Fetus' Mean Machine" anno 2019 They ended up saying something like,” …this is weird. Go for it!” Or maybe they just told us we were crazy and weird, but they still gave us the go-ahead for Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine, and Tommy, head of Team Meat, even wrote the game’s backstory for us! Inspired by classic matching puzzlers like Columns, Puyo Puyo, and Puzzle Bobble, Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine is a match-4 game with a twist - and grind - and mash - and shred. That’s because each puzzle level is built around Dr. Fetus’ insatiable hatred for Meat Boy and his desire to keep feeding home-grown clones of the latter into meat-grinder puzzles until he creates the mightiest Meat Boy clone. And then he wants to kill that clone because, well, it’s Dr. Fetus. Your goal is, as a Meat Boy clone, to survive each level by avoiding the traps (Sawblades!? What are sawblades doing on a puzzle board!?) liberally sprinkled about each board, while matching four clones of the same type to clear the board. Easy, right? Those hazards get exponentially more dangerous as you go, and you’ll need all the match-combo skills you can master to make it past all 100 of the game’s levels! So, what’s not to love? There’s classic matching gameplay, challenging puzzles, and Meat Boy, er, Dr. Fetus! It’s a match made in a meaty hell. And the game will already be out on June 22. The Super Meat Boy universe is growing: featuring Meat Boy’s archnemesis, Dr. Fetus. Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine is a match-4 puzzler given a unique twist by the nefarious Dr. Fetus! With buzzsaws, missiles and a host of other deadly hazards cooked up by Dr. Fetus in play, Mean Meat Machine brings the hardcore challenge Super Meat Boy is known for to this blend of puzzle and action gameplay. Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine takes place right after the events of Super Meat Boy Forever. After meticulously analyzing Meat Boy, the nefarious Dr. Fetus now has all the data he needs to create the perfect Meat Boy clone! There’s just one problem: The DNA sample he’s collected isn’t a perfect specimen, which in turn yields some…less than perfect clones: Dr. Fetus’ solution is to create a bunch of ruthless test chambers to weed out the crap clones from the good ones. The specimens start out looking nothing like Meat Boy, but over time that grotesquely lovable face that Dr. Fetus hates so much starts to emerge.
