I am proud to announce Doomsday Room has been selected by the Game Development World Championship! This week, fans of the game can go vote for the game on their official website, which in turn will give Doomsday Room a chance to win the Fan Favorite category. If you are a fan of the game, please take a moment to cast your vote here: http://thegdwc.com/vote IanFixed all the text overflow issues + French typosMar 4, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsThe French version introduced a few visual issues. (cut off text, a few typos, etc) Today, I decided to push all the small fix I've been doing in the past weeks to the official build. I'd like to thank all the French players who took the time to write and help polish the localization. Doomsday Roomis a pretty big / text heavy project using Unity Localization and Fungus Localization which itself is cut into different pieces.... It can become quite a task to cover everything...so your help is truly appreciated! Have a great week end!French LocalizationFeb 17, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsFrench Localization For the last two weeks I’ve been focused on the French localization which was a major task. Not only the translation itself but also learning the new Unity Localization system and setting up the fungus localization. I had a few bumps along the way...but, great news...all the work paid off and we now have Doomsday Room in French. ( Pour tous ces joueurs français! ) Fixes. “Using nuclear threat as a deterrent” needed a code revision as it was failing in some cases. This is now fixed. (Some nations could still launch a nuclear strike even when the player matched the Nuclear Threat. Thanks to the players for catching this one!) Adjustments. It was hard to get a good reading of the conflict levels in The Jazz Ambassador scene. This has been fixed by using a different tint for the world map. ( Again from player feedback, thanks guys! ) Additional stuff? While working on the Jazz Ambassador color adjustment, I added a fun little visual bonus there for you guys. :D That completes the latest update. Thank you for supporting this game! As always, if you have feedback send it my way. Update 01-27Jan 27, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsGreeting all! For the last few days I’ve been busy preparing the next update and today, well, it’s ready! Some players mentioned the need for additional visual feedback to better keep track of their progress. This was definitely a must and with this update, you can now better track the Space Race, your Covert Operations and finally Treaties between nations. Additionally, you now have the power to enact ( whenever you need it) the Borealia Plan. (More on that below.) New Visual Feedback Added Factbook checkmarks informing you which Treaty/Mutal-Act are active. Added Factbook checkmarks informing you which covert operations have been successfully completed. Added Factbook winning Space Race nation name display. ( So you can keep track of who is leading. ) New Functionality Ability to Enact the Borealia Plan. Now the player can Enact the Borealia Plan when he needs it. This is great when Norland and Urasia decide to gang up on you! Fixes Fix Jazz Ambassadors missing Armbands when in cahoots with the player. Fix covert operations UI display appearing in supreme leader voting scene. Fix erroneous dictator UI star at the end of secret service scene. Updated/UI and Art Secret Agent sitting – character update with nicer newspaper. Added Doomsday Device display on the main screen when players have unlocked the Doomsday Device. Last but not least! Added more dialog to Ted (Ministry of Propaganda). That’s it for this update! As before, if you see a typo, or if something looks out of place, please send over a screenshot – I’ll make it my priority. Thanks to everyone who added Doomsday Room to their wishlist, thanks to all the players who contribute to keep indie game development alive, and a special thanks to everyone who contribute to make this game even better!Update 01-18Jan 18, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone, Based on the feedback I received so far and other items I had on my to-do list, I’ve prepared the first update for Doomsday Room. Here is the list of fixes and enhancements it includes: • Covert operations completed on the 48 months didn’t register as completed. Fixed! • Issues with the Narrative Log which broke some UI text. Fixed! • Fix additional nuclear test display after “Nuclear Leaking” scene. • Fix Outer Space testing flag vs Rocket Scientist additional star. • Fix Covert Operation factbook star slow update. ( it had a weird delay...now it’s in realtime! ) • General UI enhancements. (Because there is always something to realign or a letter missing somewhere…) Some additions Nova Amerca now joins the Nuclear Race unless it has an arms deal and it will leave the arms race if the covert operation is successful. Added more information to the Factbook – Cheat Sheet. (This was a must!) I’m keeping my eye on the community hub for Doomsday Room so don’t be shy to use it. That’s it! Have a great week.Steam Store Screenshots!Jan 17, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone, it’s been a busy month...My mind was so focused on delivering the game...I forgot to update the game screenshots on Steam! Now if you would like a better overview of the game head over to the store page! I will follow this by adding a Game Play video this week. Thanks for all those who have bought the game or added it to their wishlist! Have an amazing week! Launch Announcement – Doomsday RoomJan 15, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsLaunch day is finally here! The Release It’s been an incredibly busy two weeks leading up to launch day, but we finally made it. (When I say we...I really just mean, me and my cat). Seriously, it’s been an amazing experience putting Doomsday Room together. This is my first truly complex solo project. Thankfully, I was surrounded by talented programmers who could help me along the way. In those two weeks, steam achievements were added, volumes sliders, additional music, UI animations, more dialog…the works! Let’s go! Now the game is truly ready for your enjoyment so pull up a chair and take your seat at the (fictional) United Nations during the (fictional) Cold War era and start your four years as Ambassador to Borealia. Welcome to Doomsday Room. PS. Releasing an indie game in the current market is quite a challenge, so if you can, want to, and would totally enjoy sending a link of this game to all your friends, please do. :) ...and if you have feedback, please send it my way.Devlog December 31st – CharactersDec 31, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsBefore we all walk into the new year, I’d like (again) thank everyone who added Doomsday Room to their wishlist, those who reached out with feedback and those talented coders who have been helping with the last efforts to deliver a solid game early 2021. Thank you. So...about those Characters? Beside all the coding and intricate logic behind the game, there are also a handful of characters which were not revealed in the current trailer or in any screenshots. (That’s because I was still working on them a month ago...) But today, as I am revising each line of dialog, I decided it would be a great moment to introduce the cast. Here they are: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/39225806/26a59477c7d41ddbf9150b1fefa4f5c9a20d1d21.jpg Jack, from the Secret Intelligence Service will guide your first steps as Borealia’s new UN Ambassador. Jackie, the Secretary of State will coordinate worldwide peace conferences. Theodore will help with domestic propaganda. (...or as some naysayers often call it...psychological warfare.) John, the rocket scientist in charge of Borealia’s Space Program, who, of course, will burn through your space program funds like there is no tomorrow. The highly decorated, Neo-fatalistic Chief Commander sent from the Atomic Energy Commission to supervise nuclear testing. ...and Murdoch, the head of Covert Operations, who will...eh...guess this one is still above your clearance level. ..and the release? Factoring in everything on the to-do list, it appears we will hit the release date. Half the text is in the hands of the proofreader, the testing / balancing of the game is progressing nicely, the UI elements are almost all completed. This means, I could, potentially, take New Years Day off... ...and on that note, I wish you all a happy New Years day! Let’s welcome the new year with cheers and laughter. IanicDevlog – Upcoming Doomsday Room Release.Dec 13, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings (fictional) Cold War era geopolitical enthusiasts! First, I’d like to thank everyone who added Doomsday Room to their wishlist! It’s great to see interested for the project after all those months of developing the game (slaving away) behind my keyboard.. This weekend I’ve planned on finishing all the core mechanics to be ready for launch...and...it’s done! We now have a totally playable (but unbalanced) game in our hands! What’s next? Starting Monday, myself and a small group of testers and proofreaders will go through the game and try to break it, find all my typeos typos, debate the balancing and exchange feedback. Additionally, I need to clear my to-do list of fun items such as... Resolution support. Code optimization. Additional animations. Add game world information.( Factbook ) General UI enhancements. Option menu functionality and design.( save, volume, reset ) and...revise all the text. Regarding the release. With the testing and general polishing of the game, I decided it would be beneficial to move the release date and put the game in early access first. This will give me time to gather valuable Early Access feedback and make some final adjustments before the official release. ( My last project, Tales of the Black Death (mobile game) benefited greatly from this clemency period). In the mean time, you can follow the progress on @instagram or @twitter What that, I wish you all a great week! Ianic
