DLC Out!Jun 19, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsAlrighty then, DLC is now finally available! Grab it now with a 20% discount! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2685580/Doomsday_Hunters_Boss_Rush_Mega_Pack/ Here's the list of all that's included: 50+ new items including cool new relics, along with those that give you cool new familiars. All unlocked by default, so you don't have to grind to unlock them. Boss Rush mode with some new locations you haven't seen yet. 40+ Completely New Bosses with some cool attacks and patterns - more than double the original content, these will be available in classic game mode as well. 10 new guns to add to your arsenal. We're also have been spending about 20% of the time working on DLC-2 - it's a bit easier to make, since making new bosses is such a huge effort, The focus of that one is new GUNS - we felt these repeat quite often, so we need like a hundred more or so - how does that sound? Of course there's going to be more stuff too. Update 1.10 Finally, also DLC Coming Out!Jun 18, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello guys, sorry for delays, but we've been working hard on making that DLC we promised some several months ago - so if there's nothing really new to write about, we don't! We felt the DLC lacks something crucial so we took our time and continued working for months and months. The initial idea was adding some new items and a new "Boss Rush" game mode. However, it felt a bit boring, so instead we also decided to add "some" variety to bosses so it would feel new and unique. And so we did, in fact we added at least 40 new bosses!! DLC will be available soon, but in the meantime we're updating the game to a cool round 1.10 number. I can't provide you with a list of all new features - there's just too many to even remember, but we've been working pretty hard trying to fix issues and make everything balanced. Some of the things we did are: Improving older bosses, fixing bugged items and meta perks, balancing character's jumping abilities, fixing some visual effects, reworking universes a bit, and much more. But the more important change is this: we're introducing Level Editor. So you can now make a copy of all levels and make your own variants - you could even design new biomes. It's an early "beta", and also important is that it's our internal tool which wasn't supposed to be distributed so it's very "internal", i.e. no documentation and you need a lot of time to figure out how everything works. Consider joining our discord server if you want to get involved with this. There's also no "share" function at the moment, however if you make something really good you can send the files to us and we might include it in the base game. To enable game editor press "E" in the main menu. DLC?Feb 15, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHi! Yes, I know we promised DLC in January. However, we've decided that we don't have enough to justify the release, so we've chosen to take an extra month or so and add a huge amount of additional content. In addition to 100 new relics and a new game mode, we're also planning to add at least 30 new bosses - some of which are entirely new, and some will be rehashed (hugely!) variants of the older ones. These new bosses will be available in both the "classic" and new Boss Rush mode. We've also been working on a custom level designer for our community to explore. This is our external tool, so expect it to be a bit ugly and not very convenient, but if you desire, you will be able to build your own levels. This is an experimental feature that will be available in the base game once we release the update that enables DLC and it will not yet support Steam Workshop. (You will be able to share these levels manually of course).DLC Incoming!Dec 7, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, it's been a while since our latest update, so let me tell you what we've been up to. What it was is this: we've been working on a DLC for Doomsday Hunters! We're pretty confident in the state of the game right now, so maybe it is time to add something extra? So we'll try and do that. Here's what we're planning for our first DLC: 100+ new items, mostly relics but some consumables too. New Game Mode: Boss Rush. Which is exactly what it sounds like: you fight just bosses all the way, getting crazy powerful. We're also adding variations to some of the bosses and adding new ones: available to both Boss Rush and normal modes. Many new Familiars. And we plan to release it in January, so stay tuned! Overall, our next big aim is enabling editing and adding new user-generated content, but that's a biggie, so we're still thinking how it can be done exactly.Update 1.0.8 is Here!Oct 4, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsWe're continuing to work on improving the game, making it accessible and fun for everybody. One thing we thought is important is replaying earlier universes once you conquer them: they may look way too simple, but now we have a solution for that! Resurrection will only restore 20 HP, not the full HP Added 2 new "Extra" difficulty modifiers "Impossible Mode", which will severely increase difficulty on any universe. So if you wanted to replay Universes 2 or 3 but it was too easy, you can now turn these on (one or both) for some extreme challenge. Added another "Extra" difficulty modifier: "Mad Clock", which increases game speed by 25% (used to be a standard universe 6 modifier pre-1.0) Some earlier universes will have somewhat simplier enemies, while for universe 6 (max difficulty) some enemies will be replaced by an elite version of the same enemy. This is currently work in progress, we'll try to add more elite enemies as time allows. Adjusted the way enemies grow in power in later biomes, this scales with the universe (so very little changes on universe 1 and max changes on universe 6) There was a bug with how Perks are generated (choices you get on level up), they should be "properly random" now. As a result, you should get a much better variety now. Some of the perk icons are missing, we're working on them. Nerfed passive energy generation (meta upgrades), you should no longer be able to use your special energy non-stop. Update 1.0.7Sep 18, 2023 - Community Announcements1.0.7 update is here! We're continuing to work on a game balance while fixing bugs, including some we introduced when we fixed other bugs. Sad but true, this happens. Here is a list of chances, please let us know if these made the game better or not. We'll continue improving various things, of course. However bigger dream is making our tools available for community so that you could modify the game yourself. They are messy, so we're still thinking how to do it. Since the last update you're getting more meta currency if playing on higher difficulty universes (5 and 6), so we added the text saying exactly how much you're getting. Slightly increased difficulty on final Boss: Mega Draculing. Slightly increased difficulty on Hell biome (replaced weaker monsters by their stronger versions). Possibly needs some more adjustment, we'll keep an eye on a feedback, reason being: players are usually quite overpowered when reaching this late stage and it's hard to keep things challenging without being unfair. Changed some parameters on final (6th) Universe, this should probably make it harder: We reduced amount of enemies but powered them up. Fixed some Relics (Hopefully) Restored broken "Doom Minigame", you now have a chance to find it in the Desert biome. Fixed Meta Progression perks which didn't activate unless you manually visit Meta Upgrades gadget in the hub. (Shroom effects, extra inventory space) (EXPERIMENTAL) Killing enemies no longer destroys all enemy projectiles. This was one of a major changes we made for 1.0, however it made the game significantly easier and maybe sometimes even trivial. So we're rolling back this change for now to see the feedback. Update 1.0.6Aug 26, 2023 - Community Announcements1.0.6 update is live! This is mostly a balance related patch. Here's a list of changes that we managed to remember (there's probably more): Rerolling sidearm now properly produces random sidearm When you run out of items to unlock in the Hub, they should be replaced by purchasable items for your run. This was supposed to be fixed in 1.0.5, but we missed one important issue and it was still broken. Hopefully finally works as intended. Fixed some endless money exploits. Slightly increased the difficulty of universes 5 and 6, changed the parameters on universe 5. Nerfed some OP meta upgrades and items. Significantly increased the difficulty of most Fury stages. Fixed some rare bugs where items would disappear from inventory. Update 1.0.5Aug 19, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, we already have a new 1.0.5 update! Some changes are: Hub unlocks were bugged: once you unlock all the items of certain type, you were supposed to be able to purchase one for your run. Instead they disappeared on purchase, this should have been fixed. Added consumable unlock in the Hub, lowered prices for weapon and consumable unlocks there. When reaching final location, you can now unlock something, this only cost 4 meta coins. Final boss now drops some meta coins on kill Both meta coin and ancient coin drops were increased if you play on higher difficulty universes (Fury rank is still ignored for now) Hax's hero abilities are now properly assigned (instead of being copies of Drakoh). So, as you can tell, this is all about making unlocks easier and less "grindly". Enjoy! Update 1.0.4Aug 15, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, a lot of good changes in this one! Patchnotes: Completely reworked inventory system: You can now directly equip and unequip items from the inventory. There is now a separate button for each action. There is a hint to show where the item will be installed when equipping it. There is some text info when dropping items from your slots. Because this system was completely reworked, we might have introduced some bugs, so we need further testing. You will now be able to see if you completed a certain universe with a certain character. No progress have been kept however, because we didn't keep it before. In the choose character menu, there are icons on top that indicate your completion status. Also, there is a tiny number that tells you what the maximum Fury Rank for this win is. (We are still figuring out a better UI for this.) Slightly more currency (both types) starting from Universe 3. If playing on Universe 6, you get a little extra. We'll continue improving this in future updates, as we still believe unlocking progress is a bit slow. Fixed some relics that were too strong. Fixed extremely low cooldowns on some skills. Many smaller balance changes. Update 1.0.3Aug 1, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsOk guys, some news today! We've released a patch fixing many of the bugs, some of which are big and some are small. Let me tell you we're listening to your feedback, so we hear some of you say unlocking stuff can be a bit "grindy", so next time we'll try to fix that. We don't have a huge amount of testers, so please report if anything is wrong this time. Here are the patchnotes, there might be a few things we forgot though. Adjusted some NPCs prices "Extra" panel is now controller-friendly, also you now see what you picked after you exit that screen Fixed some meta currency exploits Adjusted enemy max HP modifier so it wouldn't go below 0 and would consider modifiers picked up after enemy spawned already (Very rare case right now) Perks are no longer bound to specific hero. Unlocked some perks previously locked because of this logic, and also some perks that were hidden, they all need to be retested now. Some new perks missing proper icon (TBD). Some of these newer perks need further testing too. -Fixed some perks that would exploit endless jumps. -Mjolnir Perk no longer equps, just fires instead Fixed softlock: when you add item into inventory in the unlock room instead of picking it up or scrapping, the game will softlock. Next StepJul 24, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHi guys, thank you for all your support, we really appreciate it. Because our 1.0 launch was a success, we're going to continue working on the game non-stop! Let me explain our priorities. First, we want to fix all the new bugs of course, especially some game breaking ones. These are super rare, but they still happen, so we're trying to figure out what's going on. If you encountered some of those, please let us know about the circumstances, this would help to nail them down. Then, we'll try to improve the gameplay. So, things we're gonna improve next: Firstly, Inventory management seems a bit wonky, so we'll try to fix that. We had some suggestions it should be drag&drop, but that wouldn't solve anything for controller players. Secondly, there's gonna be a huge patch regarding hero Perks - which are upgrades you get on level up. For some reason not all are included right now, and plus we're adding some more. Also, there was a system to bind certain perks to certain characters, this is gonna be removed for now. Local Coop is a huge consideration, but that's a huge chunk of work. We'll see how things are going. I'm going to go and review each item to see if there's something standing out - i.e. it is useless, overpowered, or just boring. Thanks again everyone! Stay Hard! :)Release 1.0 !Jul 19, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone, finally after all these years we are finally satisfied with the state of the game, and ready to release 1.0 version. The release date is tomorrow, July 20th, 2023. We're also releasing on Nintendo Switch if that's what you've been waiting. There's still a number of possible features missing, but its a fully playable deep games where you can spend 100s of hours unlocking stuff and discovering new items, monsters, guns. Here's some of the changes since the last update: Completely reworked how your run progresses in difficulty. You can take much more damage on earlier stages, but reaching to the end can be tricky. Reworked universes (basic difficulty setting) to be more balanced in terms of difficulty and fun. Finalized all the artwork on guns at all possible angles (we manually draw 16 angle positions for each enemy) Hundreds of small tweaks here and there. Improved localization subsystem, there's still only two languages but we're working right now on adding German, French and Spanish in the next few weeks. The game's most extraordinary feature is this: nobody actually knows about it. It's a most extreme case of a "Hidden Gem". So if it's in your power to make it "less hidden", i.e. you know some influencer or are one yourself, any help would be highly appreciated. Good luck you guys, and thanks for all these years in Early Access. We're not stopping the development, however the progress will wholly depend on sales. Regarding State of the GameFeb 1, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello guys, so there's been a lot of discussion (not really, because our community is very small, but I still feel obliged to point out a few things) on the future of the game now that we announced another game in development (It's called Doomsday Fodder and you probably missed due to how Steam organizes announcements), so I will try to clarify a few things here. Let me begin with the fact that it's been more than 8 years since we have started the game. It's been a long road that cost us a lot of hardship, health issues, relationships, burnouts, depression, and so on. This is ok, that's life and it goes on. There's been a em.. "Conflict" in our country (Russia) which you might have heard of, this didn't help either, and it's going on for a year now. Yeah I know, you don't wanna hear about it. The game was in Early Access for almost 3 years now. I wish it had gone better, but the harsh reality is that it didn't. There might have been faults on our side communicating all that stuff to you, but the truth is that we tried our best to fix the game so that it would be as perfect as it can be. And well, if we failed then we did fail -- but I personally believe its in a decent state now. We didn't want to publish all the changes right away and leave nothing for actual 1.0 "out of early access release", so it's currently locked in BETA BRANCH, but you can go ahead and look there. There are major issues with the game which cannot be fixed at this point. Isometry sounds like a cool gimmick that would interest people, but we cannot do anything with the fact that it makes harder to aim, and we didn't want to dumb it down to autoaim like Hades did (which did it fantastically btw). There are many design decisions that feel weak now 8 years later, but back then we didn't know better and there weren't many examples - in fact there were almost zero gun-heavy 2d roguelikes when we started. And now that the game is complete, changing things like that mean months of heavy work. I didn't like how Special Weapons work, so I tried to redesign it several times. Same for Skills. Unlocks. Difficulty balance. Universes. Anomalies. Minigames. Those things literally took years to fix, and while I see change I'm not sure it was worth it. I still don't know if there's a roguelike shooter on a market as heavily filled with different mechanics and stuff (can be good or bad depending on your perspective). We have literally hundreds of unique monsters (around 200 maybe? IDK). I know games that have 6. Hades literally had around 6 or 7 when it first launched into EA. We have hundreds of guns. Hundreds of items. I think we did a pretty decent job. There's like a gazillion things that can be done to improve it, but the problem is - we don't have enough manpower. I will eventually try to make a way for you guys to edit stuff - add levels, change variables on guns and items, stuff like that. But are you really invested in trying that? So, in the end, the game is ready to be launched in ...Announcing Doomsday Fodder - a new game in Doomsday Hunter universe!Jan 30, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsWe are now happy to announce the development of another game, this time a SQUAD-BASED roguelike survival with huge emphasis on autochess-style upgrades, synergies and cool combos! This time we'll be making 30 heroes and each one of them will have his own personal upgrade tree, so you could experiment endlessly with different builds and items and guns and spells. You can try the demo right now and give us feedback on how to improve it: we're very passionate about this one, it's really addicting, I promise! And of course we're not forgetting the Doomsday Hunters. it's currently feature complete and is overgoing final testings for PC and Switch, so get ready for 1.0! You can switch to Beta Branch to see what we've been cooking, there's a lot of big changes here and there. Unfortunately, we weren't able to implement some of the features we wanted, so that will continue after the initial release. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1506550/Doomsday_Fodder/Update 15: New GunsApr 22, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone, here's a next update. So, you asked for it and so we listened: you can once again obtain classes before the fight - look on the first island. We also hopefully fixed a number of nasty bugs. But most importantly, we have finished adding all the guns we planned for this game with all the graphics including all 16-sided rotations (huge work!). Peace! Update 14Mar 22, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, here's finally an update we postponed due to sad events in Ukraine. We feel quite depressed about this whole situation so I won't be trying to express my happiness which I have none. Still, the work is going on albeit slowly. This update has two major new things: another playable character and some meta progression tree. Update 13: Getting Close!Jan 21, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey folks, buckle up: new update is finally here! There's no extra content this time, but we put a lot of work into making everything more polished and perfected. So, full list of changes: Completely new "Extra" panel with many more extra options to spice up your run. You can now re-equip weapons directly from your inventory. All starting weapons are now weaker. Replace them sooner! DPS calculations were completely wrong and didn't account for modifiers, this should be fixed now. It still is not perfect, so you should not rely on this number alone. Try before you scrap! Classes have been moved to your first ship after completing world 1. Underground and Hell areas will now contain unlocks for items, weapons, alientechs and skills. They also cost some ancient coins to unlock, but you will not die if you fail. Also, these fights should now be significantly harder. Basically, you will no longer be purchasing these unlocks from the hub area, instead you need to fight for them. Fixed many bugs that happened on your first run. Slayer Achievement should now work as intended. Special weapons should be more consistent (rebalanced a bit). Fixed even more bugs. Let's go! Meet Doomsday Hunters and new new stuff!Oct 28, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHello guys, it's been a while since we posted some news, sorry about that! This changes now, since we have a lot to talk about. We have decided to make a big shift and rename I, Dracula: Genesis. As you have probably got used to an older name, we believe that change is for the best since it much better characterizes what the game is about. Also, we finally decided to make our big mega update available on a main branch. The changes are HUGE since we never stopped working on it, only updating the beta branch. Let me try to reveal some of the bigger ones: New heroes with some cool new abilities. Universes completely rebuilt from grounds up, making difficulty much less of a concern on lower stages, but still providing a plenty of challenge to experienced players. There's now 6 universes overall. Removed many hazards on early stages and reworked many individual islands. Reworked most skills. Reworked many weapons, added missing artwork. Reworked how Special Weapon work: You only get one charge at most, but the charge fades with time. However it will not fade below one full charge once you obtain it. Reworked how metal boxes open: you need keys now. Unlock system have also been reworked, but it's not finished yet. Reworked how upgrades and weapon slots work: you can no longer install more that one but this can be upgraded between levels. Inventory: Store up to 6 items/weapons for future use. Adapted game palette to be little better on your eyes. So much more we don't even remember about - test and discover it yourself. Basically it's a new game with old graphics if you never tried Beta. We are aiming for full release in the beginning of Year 2022. I, Dracula Genesis: Update 11 Story On!Feb 2, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, it's been a little while since the last update, but that doesn't mean we rested - it just means we needed some time to work on internal systems - primarily, a localization. We have now added Russian language, but it will probably take a little before we start adding more, because we're planning some big changes and that would require rewriting all texts in all languages. So, full list of changes: Story intro! Changed how screenshake effect works (you might want to tune down screenshake in options) Added option to disable gamepad vibration Reworked many Curses and added new ones All weapon drops now come with full ammo. Changed how Preloaded trait works Reworked how Skills work (experimental): There's no longer "free" skills, they all cost mana, but your mana is replenished whenever fight ends Most Skills are now unlocked by default Arman's Jump improved No more bad gun modifiers (Heavy, Antique, Damaged, Inaccurate, etc) Aim assist settings, can also be turned on for mouse ("easy mode") Russian localization (Options->Languages) Good luck and have a nice good 2021! I, Dracula Genesis: Update 10Nov 12, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsThis time a smaller update, mostly maintenance and stability. But, there are some important changes still, so here you go: *First two universes are harder but should go full length once you unlock the first and the second. (this wasn't working in the previous update) *Bosses in world 2 and 3 are harder, and you can no longer meet same boss twice on these first 3 worlds *Hopefully fixed areas in underground (world 4) where you could get stuck with your hook hitting unbreakable column. *Halloween Bonus enemies are no longer available. Just wait another 350 days or so.
