The Nameless Mod 2.0 ReleasesSep 12, 2023 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/bd716ab2a3608ea53febf84404673d3b23b9f805.png What is The Nameless Mod?The Nameless Mod is a period piece of a Matrix-like world that occurs within a forum. The basis of TNM is specifically the forum of www.PlanetDeusEx.com back when GameSpy ran "planets" for popular games. Each forum is influenced by the game it features, so Forum City for PlanetDeusEx looks like assets from DeusEx. Goofy concept to be sure, but a welcome one to make some fun things throughout the game. Red greasels that shoot fire? Why not. Sentient cleaner bot? If that's what you want your avatar to be, sure. A gun that expands the fatness of someone until they explode? Madness, evil science, yeah... that fits. Every facet of TNM is based on something within Deus Ex, from the conspiracy side of things, strategies you use in Deus Ex, to technical aspects of the game being represented within the world. What Does 2.0 Mean? The Nameless Mod 2.0 is a revamp of the original The Nameless Mod from 2009 on the same engine. The 2.0 update aims to update the visuals of the mod. Speaking as the lead level designer on the original team, and now the project leader of the 2.0 project... things get tiring. There was a lot of disconnect due to level designers of varying ability, and a lot of fatigue presented in the maps. 2.0 aims to unify the maps in quality, and add a lot to the gameplay aspect in regard to creating multiple paths where there were none (despite it being Deus Ex), and interesting flare to keep it engaging. As the 2.0 team grew, so did the scope, and it also includes a multitude of bug fixes and quality of life. This primarily consists of:All 58 levels redesigned to be up to a higher standardAll levels designed with stealth and combat in mind.Multiple routes and solutions added for every obstacle. Some levels are more compact but with more material to interact with, leading to approximately 80% less time solely running from point to point in some cases. Some levels have been expanded to have more memorable sections and gameplay mechanics, including some levels doubling in size.Improved visual design to have a cohesive vision. Two brand-new secret levels and one not-so-secret new level to be found.New side missions integrated into some levels.Quality of life features from Deus Ex: Revision and Deus Ex: Transcended. An additional 7 years of bug fixing and refinement.Trailer:Changelog:Chapter 20: Added a note for the notepad about the noobz. After six years I feel like I've accomplished all changes and fixes I've wanted to make. Content in these patches has dying down over time to the point where hardly any changes have been made in the past year. With that, I may call it the final update (not guaranteed, I've thought this for the last few years, and will still fix bugs that are reported). That said, I want to focus on some other aspects of Revision and the Deus Ex community. Revision v1.6.3 Modifiers: Ammo - Halved Ammo pickups will give half as much ammo. Ammo - Lethal Bias Lethal ammo pickups give 50% more, but non-lethal pickups give half as much. Ammo - Non-lethal Bias Non-lethal ammo pickups give 50% more, but lethal pickups give half as much. Augmentations - Allow Replacing Like in Shifter, augmentations can be swapped out for another. Augmentations - Duplicate Upgrades Like in Shifter, duplicate augmentations can be used as upgrades. Smaller DTS DTS is reduced to a realistic, unbalanced, 1x1 item. Weapon Kill Stats Weapons show their total kills/knock-outs in their stats.Gameplay: See v0.5 section. Lowered the reload time for the railgun when used by Simons. Misc: Increased lip tween time. Fixed a broken chapter 8 achievement. Fixed Biomod 'On Site Procurement' challenge. Fixed Jonas Wæver's name being misspelled in credits. Fixed some options being broken when not using English. Fixed the railgun not showing the correct damage in its info. The text for skill names/descriptions when starting a new game now uses the color theme's proper text color, instead of button colors. Revision v0.5? Personally, I've always felt that the heart and ultimate point of Revision was its maps, because of that I haven't felt the need to try making the option for vanilla maps a thing, it just seemed to go against the spirit of the mod. However, since people keep requesting it I decided to give it a go a few days ago. The option can now be accessed in Settings > Game Options > Map Style > Vanilla. Note that many Revision exclusive features like a large amount of achievements, Revision/PS2 music, some modifiers, challenges, survival, etc, won't be available in this mode. It also won't be compatible with current playthroughs, only new ones. Please do not recommend this mode for new players either, instead, please recommend the Deus Ex: Transcended mod (see below). In addition, this mode uses whatever files are found in the base Deus Ex\Maps folder (Not Revision\Maps), so it may be worth overwriting these files with Transcended's versions if you want vanilla map bug fixes. Along with this, these maps will use the non-Revision conversation packages, so translations can be installed on the base game and used in Revision. Revision v2.0 - ECHELON? Revision's 2.0 update titled 'ECHELON' was planned from at least 2017,...The Nameless Mod (2.0) - Day 2 Update ReleasedAug 11, 2021 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/bd716ab2a3608ea53febf84404673d3b23b9f805.png{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/a49620a8c3ce58f05559b3b186759e1325973a1a.pngIntro: Disabled idle animations/sounds for the guards in Scara's office during the intro. You thought you shot them in the face, but you actually shot them in the torso. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/bbbd1912bd3590a60e9708e11bf202d799ddb0c7.png But why does this happen? Let's take a look at the MiB's collision from above: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/5d3b888c8dd77cfd463a30f5e62b66bc00e43a2c.png So where is the head defined for a headshot? Wrong Wrong Right {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/f4ffb3065a36b87131d1e897797124e5f26221c4.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/7ea9b8e6203dc2f59d3e77ffbf6ea9b74dc339f9.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/9395bf71457b2a0809deeecc8d9c17217bf78ed1.png You might expect the area defined as the head to be here, right where the head is. Or even here, right in the middle of the collision. But the correct answer is this cross. Due to your shot always landing at the edge of the circle (unless you shoot them from above) even if you shoot where their head is visually you'll end up hitting the torso if shooting from a diagonal. You always had to hit front/sides/back directly to count as a headshot. Issue #2 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/4130f68da762eb042065d87320f2dee37c2a946c.gif You aim right at someone's head, you pull the trigger annnnnnnd... nothing. They take no damage, your shot somehow went through their head and still missed. Why does this happen? Look at their collision box: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/5f4011178a697970488346bd68ea6a42cefa5510.png The top of their head has no collision, no-one's forehead has collision, this applies to every person in the game. This was done by the developers to fix issues with models floating. With female characters it's even worse, nothing above their eyes has collision: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/d1a7de19a3425982b45ffd3b4c9a22b668a25f55.png Fixing these Issues Regarding issue #1, the next patch will have all headshots in the head area do head damage, regardless of angle. Unless I get some help to make headshots even more accurate and only hit the visual area of the head. Regarding issue #2, in the next patch all characters will have their collision increased in order to give their foreheads collision. The side effects of this are obvious, the game will become easier due to the more reliable headshots, but when the previous difficulty came from hidden jank, I believe this is fair. The other side effect from increasing the collision is that people have become an inch or two taller, JC will no longer look down on people as much.Patch 1.5 - FIVE-EYES is LiveDec 25, 2019 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10466849/f6e3934538407495811d32c1d1c5ce3fab40f68a.jpg Merry Christmas, today Revision releases patch 1.5 FIVE-EYES. As its name implies, the city is the physical embodiment of Internet forums and bulletin boards. It's more like The Matrix or Tron than Second Life, however, as the troubles of the city are no laughing matter. Embracing the style of Deus Ex, Forum City has as much crime and conspiracy as the world of JC Denton — but most citizens would have it no other way. The lust for power seems to come easily to those who call the city their home; everywhere there are factions scheming to increase their reach, or even wrest control of the city itself. Were it not for a peacekeeping triumvirate of invulnerable Moderators the city would quickly plunge into chaos. This has been the way of things for as long as most care to remember. But now, the balance of power has been upset. Unthinkably, a Moderator has disappeared, and panic is gripping the city. With the remaining Moderators spread far too thin, the lawless have found themselves with the freedom to prey upon others, and formerly suppressed rivalries threaten to explode into open conflict. You are called upon to silence the discord. Throughout the course of the game, you take on the avatar of Trestkon, a former intelligence agent whose reasons for leaving the city are mysterious, at best. Negotiating for his return was an act of desperation, but having known him personally, the remaining Moderators trust that he can find their missing colleague before it is too late. Two years can change a man, however, and Trestkon's loyalty is not set in stone. Now imbued with legal authority, he could tip the balance of power in virtually anyone's favour, and the multitude of factions are well aware. Corrupt corporations, religious fanatics, cyber-terrorists, and even deadly computer programs will stop at nothing to gain Trestkon's allegiance. Your task is simple: Save the world. The rest is up to you. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/10466849/6651b54e862eee4da2508d1bde971d12fc22702e.png Features: An imaginative new setting unlike any game you've played before (yet very familiar to any netizen). 59 levels of gameplay plus a new training mission, 6 intro and e...
