Early Access Hotfix #89-1Jul 3, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings, Adventurers. We’d like to inform you of the latest changes applied in this update.IRONMACEBugfixes:Fixed an issue where Sorcerer's Water Bolt could cause damage incorrectly.Fixed an issue with the base primary attribute of the Phoenix Choker item.Early Access Hotfix #89Jul 2, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHi Adventurers,One of our key goals for this season is to improve the experience of solo players while trying to find a solution within the current mixed matchmaking system. One of the big advantages a squad has over a solo player is the ability to quickly discern vital information for their allies through the in-game HUD, thus reducing the communication/coordination overhead that naturally occurs when a team increases in size and thus amplifying the numbers advantage. We want to test if we can slightly improve the odds for solo players by turning off some of the in-game HUD features for teams, thus putting solo and squads on a more even footing when quickly analyzing a situation. We understand that this change can add too much pressure to an already high-pressure game and so we will be testing it in the High-Roller dungeons as it aligns with its more hardcore nature. We also have different combinations of in-game HUD we can turn on/off and will be testing different variations. This hotfix also improves the loot drop rates for all three dungeon modes as the previous rates made progression in the lower dungeons too extreme. We’ve also polished the in-game party system and slightly improved several blocking issues with weapons. We will continue to carefully re-introduce elements as we make progress one step at a time. Thank you and see you in the dungeons.IRONMACEBugfixes:Fixed an issue where the Ranger’s Back Step might not activate when crouching in mid-air.Fixed an issue where the animation could appear glitchy when continuously holding the block stance with weapons capable of counterattacks after blocking.Fixed an issue where some weapons could penetrate shields.Fixed an issue where Deathbloom's effects could be obscured depending on equipped gear.Fixed an issue where monster attacks might not be properly blocked with weapons like the Longsword and Spear.Fixed an issue where certain melee attacks during the Lich's attack patterns could be blocked unexpectedly.Fixed an issue where if a Demon Centaur was being healed by a Demon Imp and the healing was interrupted, the Demon Centaur might not die even after taking fatal damage.Fixed an issue where some of Ice Harpy's attack effect timings did not match the actual hit timing.Fixed an issue where being too close to an Ice Kobold Archer could cause its arrows to deal no damage.Fixed an issue where the Ice Giant Spider could fall to the ground while stuck in a suspended pose after being hit by a Sorcerer's Windblast.Fixed an issue where players could become trapped when spawning in the Crypt Gated Rooms module.Fixed an issue where players could become stuck at specific locations in the Ice Cavern Hut A module.Fixed an issue where downed players in spectator mode might not be reported properly after the match ends.Fixed an issue where the Achievement window might not close properly.Fixed an issue where player statuses in the player list could be displayed incorrectly.Fixed an issue where long nicknames c...Dark and Darker lead apologizes for "inconsistent decisions" as the RPG slumpsJul 2, 2025 - PCGamesNDespite having already navigated some major obstacles like platform delistings and court battles, extraction RPG Dark and Darker is finding itself in one of its toughest spots yet. All your previous items and gold have been reset. We have also reset your triumph level, so you have the opportunity to earn additional Bluestone shards until the start of the next season. The Adventure Rank leaderboard has concluded for this season and the new leaderboard will not start until EA Season 7. Quest progression has not been reset with this semi-wipe, so we have added a guest merchant with several all-purpose quests to keep advanced players busy for the remainder of this season. Finally, the new Arena Rank season will start on July 11.This semi-wipe is not a wipe to introduce new content, but a mid-season reset of specific balance parameters to introduce a substantial shift in the design direction of the game. The actual content-specific wipe is scheduled to occur a little later this summer with the start of EA Season 7 in late August. Instead, the semi-wipe focuses on addressing balance with modifications to data and supporting features, with a specific focus on the following five points:Power Gear Gap – Battles shouldn’t feel hopeless just because of the difference in the grade of gear.Loot Value Balance – At the same time, upgrading to higher gear shouldn’t feel worthless either.Combat Feel Balance – We want skills and tactics to have a little more influence on the outcome of combat and fix things that feel “off” in combat.Class Balance and Build Viability – The outcome of battles shouldn’t feel hopeless based purely on class matchups.Dungeon Party Composition and Dynamics – Finally, there should be ways to survive, either through combat or strategy when a person doesn’t have the luxury of entering the dungeons with a full party. We also want the dungeons to feel dangerous for everyone, not just the casual or outnumbered players. The semi-wipe introduces the basic systems that begin to address the above points. We have currently removed the previous random modifiers from items, as they were the largest contributor to the gear gap. Please note that although the random modifiers have been removed for the start of this semi-wipe, we may consider a different iteration during the many tests we have planned for the remainder of this season, if we feel we can make them work within our balance confines. We’ve also adjusted the curve formulas of the attributes so that the primary modifiers on the items make them feel like an upgrade without going too far. A large-scale adjustment to the armor and damage curves have normalized the durability of characters, leading to less extreme and baffling combat results. Changes to the hitbox modifiers also give greater emphasis to attack precision, giving much improved combat feedback. A rework of the underlying blocking system also significantly improves the precision of shields and parrying. This rework of armors and weapons, along with adjustments to several perks/skills, makes it so more class matchups are viable across wider combat situations. To better suppo...Dark and Darker will be purged from Epic Games Store libraries later this year, but it's still available on Steam for nowJun 17, 2025 - PC GamerThree months after removing Dark and Darker from sale, Epic Games is going a step further to erase any trace of its existence on the Epic Games Store: An email being sent to owners says Epic will remove the PvPvE dungeon crawler Dark and Darker from their libraries on November 1. Ealry Access Hotfix #86May 23, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHi Adventurers, This update introduces our community assisted enforcement system to help clean up the dungeons. Suspicious players that receive too many reports from highly reliable community enforcers will receive a temporary ‘Outlaw’ mark on their account. Outlaw accounts will be spotlighted for intense investigation by our anti-cheat team and eventually have modes and features restricted once this system is finalized. The best way for the community to help us improve this system is to continue sending accurate reports when encountering a cheater. This update also consolidates the matchmaking queues. The pools have been simplified into just a single pool each for Adventure, Normal, and HR modes. The continuous matchmaking system has improved our ability to help keep dungeons feeling populated. However, even with that system in place, the current population cannot sufficiently support the excessive amount of match types. The removal of the lower gear-score pools also symbolizes a return to the more brutal and hardcore roots for the PvP-enabled dungeons, where not every fight is supposed to be fair. In the same vein, Normal dungeons are now focused on trio parties. We are aware that the current item power gap pushes this brutality to the extreme and we will be working on a future overhaul to make the gap more reasonable. In the meantime, we will be considering ways to make it a bit easier to close that gap with the improved loot drop rates and enhancements to the gem socket system. We thank you and see you in the dungeons! Bugfixes: Fixed an issue where the knockback ignoring effect could ignore the airborne effect. Fixed an issue where spell costs were not shown as doubled when using the Warlock's Torture Mastery. Fixed an issue where Soul Collector would not work when killing a target with Flame Walker. Fixed an issue where Warlock's Power of Sacrifice could stack infinitely when cast on opponents in Adventure mode. Fixed an issue where devil wings were visible in the afterimage when using the Wizard's Haste or Invisibility. Fixed an issue where movement speed reduction immunity was not applied when hit by a Goblin Mage while using the Breakthrough. Fixed an issue where players' items could sometimes be rolled back when extracting or going down a level. Fixed an issue where candles placed in the boss room would not display properly. This update brings several large balance changes including a move away from the gear-score system. Game Modes are now limited by item rarity rather than a gear score range. This is done to make it easier for players to gauge and predict the relative strength of the players in a pool. The normal dungeons are now separated into two starting gear limits of ‘Common’ and ‘Rare’ grades. The ‘Common’ grade dungeons allow for quick access to PvP centric matches with super low investment costs. The ‘Rare’ grade dungeons allow players to customize their characters within a specific range and wager their loadout against opposing player builds. The High-Roller ‘Epic’ dungeon ratchets up the heat where the builds are taken to the next level. Finally, the High-Roller ‘Unlimited’ dungeon is meant for the biggest risk takers where the sky is the limit. We have also readjusted the cutoff points for each of the Arena ranks based on actual player distribution from the previous season. The original cutoff points resulted in the lower ranks being underrepresented while too many people were lumped into the uppermost ranks. This significantly reduced the reputation we wanted associated with the higher ranks. The new cutoff points should see a more normal distribution across the ranks with a much smaller percentage of players achieving the ‘Contender’ rank and only the most elite players achieving a rating of ‘Vanquisher’ or ‘Warlord’. We have also relaxed the party MMR restrictions so that it now only applies to parties with a member of ‘Veteran’ ranking or higher. We thank you for your support and see you in the dungeons! Bugfixes: Fixed an issue where a crash could occur upon entering the lobby. Fixed an issue where certain classes could fail to enter the lobby. Fixed an issue where the game could become unplayable after the loading screen when re-entering a dungeon. Fixed an issue where the game could crash when changing characters after playing Arena. Fixed an issue where the game could crash while attempting to join an Arena match. Fixed an issue where the Fighter’s Weapon Mastery penalty was not correctly reflected in the UI. We have also decided to remove the Fog of War to enable players to make more high-level strategic decisions weighing the risks and rewards of POIs and extraction points. Although we enjoyed the feelings of exploration added by the Fog of War, the feature led to lowered engagement from newer adventurers who we had hoped to protect with this mechanic. We’ve also added two new artifact weapons, the Catice and Bloodthirst which introduces some spectacular new effects. Now that we have our main game modes set, we plan to focus on adding more content for the dungeons in the upcoming season. We thank you and see you in the dungeons!
