Golf Pins are a new mechanical addition to Cursed to Golf. You will be able to choose one from three random Pins at the start of each Round and then purchase them in a new section at each Eterni-Tee! Each one can have a large effect on the way you approach each Hole or even each Shot! You will be able to equip up to a maximum of three Pins during each run. Play to your own strengths and choose Pins that compliment your playstyle! Want to start every tee shot in a Hole with a Rocket-ball? NOW YOU CAN! Explode all Shot Idols when entering a Hole? THERE’S A PIN FOR THAT! Control the Angle Meter and make perfect shots each time? WHY NOT! Choose wisely and master the Course your own way! The Cursed to Golf team here at Chuhai Labs has been hard at work since we last spoke! We have been collating feedback, tackling through the forums and listening to all of your comments. A big thank you to all the players who have experienced Golf Purgatory so far and a special thanks to all players who have taken the time to review, comment, give feedback and help us to make the best darn GOLFLIKE we possibly can! Presenting to you the PURGATORY REMIX update! A free update for all players that introduces two additional game modes, Practice Round and Remix Round as well as a host of quality of life updates. Allow me to explain each new mode in a little more detail! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41143415/cc4e597918a308d559a471a65dbb4453d356f59a.png Practice Round: Practice Round is a new mode we've created to help players with the perils of Golf Purgatory! In this new mode, you will be able to start a blank 18-hole run through the Purgatory, Oasis and Caverns biomes while setting your own custom rules! Through Practice Round you will be able to familiarize yourself with the various dungeon-like holes of Cursed to Golf and practice making your way through the various hazards in hopes of being able to take on Classic mode and finally Ascend! Set your starting PAR Count. Enable "Hole Restart" option. Enable "Cursed Holes" option. Set your starting Ace Card deck. Set your "Shot Idol" options. Set your starting biome area. Enable "Cursed" rewards each hole. If you're struggling to make it to latter biomes, use Practice Round! (Note: There is no story progress or achievement unlocking in Practice Round) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41143415/cb671fc289c53925f42c1f8e9a0f274afc3c1d72.png Remix Round: Remix Round is a brand-new daunting game mode for those experienced Cursed Golfers who have already made the Ascension (or close to)! Cursed to Golf is a golf game for those that want a bit of randomized hellish masochism thrown in for good measure. We've always described it as a "Golflike" in reference to one of the genres we have been inspired by: Roguelikes. You'll start every run with some Ace Cards and a randomly ordered 18 hole course. No, we did not procedurally generate the holes. We figured out pretty quickly that randomly generating a fair and completable golf course wouldn't quite make the CUT. It’s a golf game for those that want a bit of randomized hellish masochism thrown in for good measure. I guess our twisted idea has worked, as the powers that be over at Valve have seen it fit to include Cursed to Golf in the Going Rogue: A Festival of Persistence… festival. Well, we couldn’t be happier to be a part of it, AND it gives us yet another chance to plug our lovely DEMO, yay! So please, download the demo if you haven’t already and start smacking some balls, you will feel better. Probably*. We’ve always described Cursed to Golf as a Golf-Like in reference to one of the genres we have been inspired by. So in celebration of this festival, I’m going to dive into those ‘Rogue’ elements that make Cursed to Golf so brutally addictive. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41143415/f386969bb94f93c155ec298ab4f2cf591273dd45.jpg Randomness?! Don’t we all love randomness? That feeling that no run will ever be the same because fresh stuff will pop up in new and exciting/infuriating ways. That thing you tell yourself every time you start a new run: “This is the one. This run will go well, praise be to the RNG.” We can’t get enough of it. So in Cursed to Golf, you’ll start every run with some Ace Cards and a randomly ordered 18 hole course of beautifully hand-crafted levels/holes. Yup, we did not procedurally generate the holes, I just designed a ton (over 70?!) and gave them all a difficulty rating that scales across 18 holes, so that we can keep the challenge going all the way to the end and randomly pick from a pool every time you start a fresh run. We figured out pretty quickly that randomly generating a fair and completable golf course is not a good idea 😅. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41143415/99d689478b304a37b039b161b7885cb8e5957247.jpg Ace Cards Every roguelike needs some loot and Cursed to Golf is no different. You get money of course, but what do you spend it on? ACE CARDS, of course! These nifty cards allow you to turn the tide back in your favor. Game Director, Liam Edwards here :) Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has downloaded and played the Cursed to Golf demo so far! The response has been quite overwhelming with lots of you sharing your shots, playthroughs and game content via YouTube, Twitter and Twitch. It's been wonderful for myself and the team to see! We are so glad that many of you have been having fun with the demo and our game even in this small slice. GOLF FACT: Over 60 budding Cursed Golfers have taken down the Scotsman already! A big thank you to those of you who have engaged with us in the discussion threads here on Steam and helped track down issues, suggest updates for the future and given us great feedback! It's all incredibly appreciated. As part of the response we wanted to give back a little more - we have been asked by many to extend the demo period for longer, So... we've done just that! As you may have seen, we have released our first ever limited time demo of Cursed to Golf as part of the Future Game Show: Spring Showcase. That’s right, any budding golfers can cross the astral plane and spend the next few days honing their skills on the ghostly greens of Golf Purgatory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4GgrP-O4qg From now until March 27th at 8pm CET, you all have access to the first biome of Golf Purgatory. This includes access to the Eterni-Tee Shop, the Practice Range, 4 randomly selected holes, an optional Cursed Hole and more. Grab your golf clubs, jump in your golf cart and get swinging! Who knows – maybe you can make it all the way to the 5th hole and first boss: The Scotsman! This burly bloke loves hitting epic drives that fly across the course. He’s the first true test of Golf Purgatory, so good luck against him, you will need it! One thing is for sure - there are also some really tricky holes awaiting you on the way. When every shot counts, mastery of the key mechanics in this ethereal spin on golf is needed. While the course may be devious, your Ace Cards are always on hand to even the odds, use them wisely! Plus, because I’m such a nice guy, here are a few helpful tips for you - straight from the factually ‘Best Cursed to Golf Player in the World™’. I expect that won’t be the case for much longer… 😅 Ball Spin - The tutorial section will introduce the ball spin mechanic. Due to the astral influence of Golf Purgatory, spin has more powerful effects than IRL golf. Controlling where and how the ball will bounce with careful use of spin can make all the difference, especially when you’re close to the flagpole. Practice Shots - The Practice Shot isn’t just for practice! This Ace Card can be used in loads of different ways. Is a totem behind you or out of the way? Use a Practice Shot to smash it and the extra shots you earn from it will still count. Out of TNT cards and you notice a load of TNT blocking your path or concealing an awesome shortcut? Use a Practice Shot to explode it and it will stay that way. The Practice Range - Speaking of practice, don’t forget to visit the practice range to hone your skills. Over there you’ll have infinite shots and Ace Cards to try out all manner of daring shots. Maybe try using two cards in one shot and see what happens? Assess the Environment - Whether it’s propeller fans, TNT shortcuts or teleporters, each hole is filled with different routes to the flagpole. Use Birdie Eye to survey the environment and check which routes you want to take, just watch out for the hazards, too! Use the Binder - In the Eterni-Tee shop, you have a card binder.
