Major Update (New Boss, Nightmare Challenge Mode, New Skills)May 30, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHi friends. We have a big new content update for you and an announcement! Here's what's in the update: A New Boss Encounter: The Mad Maestro (and his frog quartet)! Defeating the High Priestess of Creative once will unlock this as an alternate boss encounter for the second floor. Nightmare Challenge Mod. You wanted a tougher challenge beyond Corporate Hell? We heard you. This mode is so dang tough that even we can't complete runs most of the time. Enabling it (without other mods) and beating the game will unlock special trophies for each character in the Milestones section. Good luck! You'll need it... New Skills. Four brand new skills have been added: Chomp, Meat Shield, Mind Palace, and Energy Swap! These were designed to pave the way for new build strategies (e.g. Max Health, Rethink/Cycle). New Random Event. Look for a new zombie-like horde event on the first floor. Will you crawl under a smelly dumpster or run for it? Additionally, the "community award" event now features an option to pawn the trophy. Other Changes: Charge and Paint skills now display expected total damage in parenthesis. These skills now calculate damage normally and only apply Power once (effectively a nerf to Fia, but she's still plenty strong). Brainstorm skill has been reworked (including an updated visual effect). New Talent: Meathead. Capitalist talent has been reworked. Blockbuster skill changed to deal 1x/2x damage (down from 2x/3x). Slightly increased damage for some CEO and Taskmaster attacks. Well Prepared talent changed to give 3 Rethink (down from 4). Chairshot skill changed to deal 10/15 damage (up from 9/14). Catharsis talent changed to restore 2 Sanity (down from 3 Sanity). Minion Manager talent can now level up to 6. It takes quite a few more consumables to reach this final level, but it should feel better scaling into late game. Added a pulsating effect to the Rethink glyph and tooltip. This disappears after a player has used Rethink a few times. Various bug fixes. Several late additions (including another event and several talents) just missed the cut, so there's more to come. Expect hotfixes and smaller updates in the coming weeks. Now for that announcement: we'll be featured by Sodapoppin (on Monday June 2nd) and Kripp (Tuesday June 3rd) next week! We can't wait to watch them try the game and would love to watch it with you. We'll be sure to update everyone in our Discord channel when they go live. Additionally, Crush will be on a big 40% off sale next week for the Turn Based Thursday Fest on Steam. That will kick off Monday morning. We'd love your support and help with getting our game noticed. On that note, I want to thank our dude Frost Prime for all of the support he has given us over the past two years. Check him out if you haven't already. Don't know if he'll read this and it's probably not the right place, but I don't care. If you like the gameplay and humor in Crush, you'll probably love his stream and community. That's it for now. Thanks for pl...Minor Update (Random Starting Talent, localization update)Apr 30, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHi friends. Just a bog-standard minor update here, unless you happen to be a sentient padlock (then it's kind of a life-changing event). Added a "Select Random Talent" option to the starting talents panel. Added a skip button to the Unlock screen. The lock people are rejoicing and hope that you will leave a nice review now that they may occasionally live past the horrors of this screen. Checkmate (skill) damage increased to 40/50 from 35/40. Creative Spark (skill) pure damage (to player) increased to 4/6 from 3/4. Dissolve (skill) damage increased to 5/9 from 4/6. Focus Fire (skill) Burn value increased to 3/4 from 2/3. Localization file updated for several languages -- much appreciated to our contributors in the Discord channel for working on making this better. More to come. Thanks for playing and giving us your feedback in the Discord channel. Travis & ZafiMinor Update (Unlock All Content & Delete Save File features)Apr 26, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHi friends. Another small update, adding two requested features: "Delete Save File" and "Unlock All Content" buttons now exist on the character select screen (with a double-confirm popup to make sure nobody accidentally nukes their progress). "Unlock All Content" will unlock all characters, difficulty levels, skills, talents, consumables, boss variations, and starting talents. Note that enabling this will not affect achievements or milestones (tracked stats). So if you're a bad enough dude to take on Corporate Hell without climbing the ladder... now you can! A "Select Random Talent" option for starting talents just missed the cut here but will be in the next update. Have an excellent weekend. Travis & ZafiMinor Update (Game Balance, Bugs, Accessibility)Apr 21, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHi friends. Just a quick update that's mostly bug fixes and minor balance adjustments: The 3 Toxic Players/Slimes encounter on the first floor can now spawn a Micro Micromanager instead of a Toxic Player or Slime. Corporate Hell difficulty modifier (enemy damage) increased slightly. Fixed a bug with upgrading an existing skill resetting cycle rate to base value. Changed the "Hard Times" achievement to trigger when achieved at any difficulty above Hard. Wondershot (Talent): random damage range increased from 0-200% to 0-225%. Fixed a visual bug with enemy death animations not completing, specific to certain MacOS versions (much appreciated to anyone playing on Mac reporting bugs). Charged Shield icon now displays correctly. Fixed several translation inconsistencies/errors. Updated Japanese, Spanish, and French translations. Unbalanced Mechanic attack pattern changed to 40 Poison and 30 Burn (down from 99 Poison and 33 Burn). Macho Badman is now slightly less impotent. Lovestruck Knight attack damage increased to 3 (from 2). Risque Influencer attack damage increased to 23 (from 22). Toxic Slime attack damage increased to 9 (from 8). Sally has been working out and now has 35 Health (up from 30). CEO first attack damage increased to 9x3 (from 8x3). Decreased volume on the player insanity sound effect (the pitch-shifting ambience). This is now muted when "Reduce Insanity FX" is enabled in the game settings. Added Turn Decay, Contact Decay, and Contact Poison to the help panel. Modified visual FX for several skills to be less glaring/fullscreen. Player damage cap increased to 9999 (from 999) because people like big numbers. Big thanks to the players who helped with refining our language translations in the Discord channel. Happy to include anyone contributing in our credits. Also want to thank any players who took the time to leave a review on our Steam page or share feedback/bugs in our Discord channel. A short list of what didn't make this small update (but will be coming soon): Adding a win streak counter. Adding an "unlock harder difficulties" option for experienced players. Adding more battle encounter/enemy variations. Adding a Low Contrast Mode display option. Adding more new enemies, talents, events, etc. Thanks for supporting our full release! Travis & ZafiHotfix (Game Designer Moles Encounter)Apr 16, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsFixed a bug with the Game Designer Moles locking combat actions when Contact Decay triggers under certain circumstances. Fixed minor Japanese and Spanish localization inconsistencies. As always, the best way to report bugs, give us feedback, or reach us is through the Discord channel. Look for a bigger content update in the coming weeks. Thanks for supporting our full release! As we near the end of Early Access, we're excited to share the last major content update prior to full release. There will still be smaller content updates before then (more on that below). What's in this one: New Character-Exclusive Skills: 15 new character-specific skills have been added! These will show up in the normal skills pool but are exclusive to each character. They are: Balance, Hustle, Hedge, Superkick, Chairshot, Burning Hammer, Checkmate, Psychic Special, Poisoned Pawn, Icebreaker, Scream, Legendary Call, Turbo Graphics, Block In, and Watercolor. Shop Reroll: A once-per-visit option to reroll shop items had been added to both Tweaky's Cafe and Gabe's Hot Tub. Shop Sales & Easter Eggs: Both shops will now feature an item with a 50% off tag and some easter eggs for the adventurous... New Talents: 4 new talents have been added: Head Eraser, Soldier, Turtle, and Stress Response. Skill Cycle Rate: A "Show Skill Cycle Rate" toggle has been added to the skills screen. This will display a % value for a skill to be cycled/drawn. Extra context for stat crunchers: this value isn't fully guaranteed but is normalized over roughly 25 skill cycles. New Random Event: A new random event has been added to the third floor. MacOS Support: MacOS is now officially supported. Several fullscreen visual effects have been toned down. Some core skill animations have been modified or reworked. Sally and Stacy now behave quite a bit differently if Pro Gamer is defeated before them. Meeting Blob now only changes intent when taking damage on the player's turn and always switches to a different attack pattern. Bug fixes. We hope you enjoy the new content. Let us know what you think and what else you'd like to see in Discord channel. What's left for smaller updates before release: a few more talents, consumables, unlockables, achievements, skills (saved some of the best for last), additional enemy behaviors/randomization, and a full pass on game balance. Some of these may go live without an update announcement. A quick recap on what's been added to the game since launching into Early Access: Over 50 skills (from ~64 to 117) Two new playable characters (from 3 to 5) Over 80 talents (from ~40 to 122, including discovery/starting talents) 9 Difficulty Levels (from 3 to 12) Over 50 unlockables (from ~12 to ~70) 8 random events (from 8 to 16) Localized in 10 different languages Boss variants and an additional final boss encounter Character endings, game mods, starting talents, discoveries, reroll options, improved save/load functionality, accessibility & battle speed options. Over the next few months, we will be devoting more time to promoting and marketing...Update 2.3: New Bosses, Unlockables, Talents, and Corporate Hell!Dec 2, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! We've got a Kingsley-sized content update for you just in time for the holidays! What's on deck: New Unlockable Final Boss: A new boss encounter can be unlocked by defeating the CEO. This encounter features three new original enemies that will put your skills to the ultimate test! Unlockable Taskmaster Deluxe Encounter: You've fought the standard model - are you ready for the deluxe version? This new encounter features the new explosive status effect and should be approached with caution. Game Designer Moles: These cute little guys are lurking somewhere on the third floor. Over 20 New Unlockable Starting Talents: These offer new build paths and ways to play. Want to be a Zombie, Chef, or Ninja? Now you can be! Of special note is the "Minion Manager" talent which features an evolving pet dynamic. Corporate Hell Difficulty: Beyond the nine circles of Hell awaits the worst fate for any office worker: Corporate Hell! This can be unlocked by completing the Hell 9 difficulty level. This is a beta version of sorts (a more complex implementation may happen in the future). Bug Fixes: Fixed a bunch of em. We hope you enjoy the new content, and would greatly appreciate any balance feedback on the new encounters, talents, and difficulty level. Our Discord channel is the best place to let us know about any bugs or balance issues. What didn't make it into this update: character-specific skills. They will be in the next one. We'll also be digging into MacOS support and rounding out more content for release. Expect one more content update before we transition out of Early Access. Come hang out with us in Discord and add us on Bluesky if you haven't already. Thanks for sticking with us. Stay frosty. Travis & Kara Update 2.2: Localization, Events, and a New Playable Character Appears!Aug 8, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! Getting this done was a lot more work than expected, but Crush is finally available in 9 new languages, courtesy of the fine folks over at Level Up Translation! And there's a new playable character! Feedback or bug reports on the new features are very much appreciated. I playtest and QA extensively before releasing these updates to the wild, but a few bugs are bound to slip through the cracks. What's new: Localization (Language Support): Can be accessed from the settings menu. Translations include: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, and Korean. Extending support for other languages in the future is always a possibility. New Playable Character: The artist Fia introduces some colorful new mechanics to pair with her unique playstyle. Unlock her by defeating the second floor boss and let your creativity run wild! Erase negative stats and paint your way through the workday! (editor's note: she's probably OP) New Random Events: Two new random events have been added. These also include 6 new exclusive consumable items, such as the powerful Bug Spray and Kingly Sword. Bug Fixes: Fixed some bugs with Flow State interactions. With localization out of the way, the next major patch will be all game content. We'll be focusing on filling in all the gaps to prep for full release. At minimum, you can expect a true final boss, the Corporate Hell difficulty level, a third floor boss variant, and a bit of everything (more skills, events, talents, enemies). Expect minor updates/hotfixes in the coming weeks and the big one sometime later this year. Be sure to join the Discord and consider leaving us a Steam review if you haven't yet. Thanks for sticking with us! Travis & Kara Crush the Industry Dev LivestreamApr 8, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! In celebration of Turn Based Thursday Fest, come watch our High Priestess of Creative (Kara) livestream a run of the game! We'll be showing off some of the features and balance changes added in the recent updates, so check it out and let us know what you think! Travis & KaraUpdate 2.11: Improved save/load, battle speed options, UI updates, and more!Apr 4, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHey dudes. We skipped over an update announcement (2.1) like it was Windows 9, so this will include some stuff you've probably already noticed if you've been playing lately! Improved Save/Load: An oft-requested feature is finally in - you can now save anywhere/anytime on the schedule! If you notice any bugs with this, please let me know so I can squash them. Reworked Sanity Attacks: Enemy sanity hits now only occur as their own intent (rather than alongside damage). The previous implementation was a little cluttered/confusing, so this was done to simplify things and make battles flow more smoothly. Enemy Balance Changes: Lots of encounters have been adjusted. A few new attacks/behaviors were added. Many encounters should feel a bit less punishing or difficult now. UI Changes: Armor, Block, and Sanity Shield now appear next to their respective resources rather than in the status bar. Fonts have been changed to accommodate localization and readability. Random Event Art: Random events now have art. I don't know what else to put here. There's art. It goes with the events. Art is cool. Battle & Text Speed Options: You can now adjust text and battle speed (skill animations/delays) to be slower or faster to your heart's content! These new options are available in the settings menu. Bug Fixes: Of note, several controller/gamepad bugs have been fixed. Two new random events didn't quite make the cut. Expect those to be patched in within the next week or so. What's next? We'll continue on localization prep work, the 5th playable character, the post-CEO boss, and adding more encounters/skills/talents. But tell us what you want to see. Come hang out in Discord if you aren't already, add us on Twitter, leave us a witty Steam review, and all that good stuff. Till next time. Travis & Kara Crush the Industry Dev LivestreamMar 25, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! In celebration of the Steam Deckbuilders Fest, come watch our High Priestess of Creative (Kara) livestream a run of the game! We'll be showing off some of the features and balance changes added in the recent updates, so check it out and let us know what you think! Travis & KaraUpdate 2.0: Tons of new skills, talents, modifiers, and more!Jan 26, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! It's been a while, but we've got something to show for it: one big whopper of a game update! Here's the full rundown: 27 New Skills: Lots of these feature fun new mechanics and open up new combinations and synergies. Maybe some new bugs, too (please report any in our Discord!). Try combining While Loop with Target Function, or Copy and Paste with Focus Fire. Experiment and let me know what you think! 12 New Talents: Some of these should pair nicely with those new skills. Or just grab a Teddy Bear for some extra defense. 3 Game Modifiers: Offering more customization and options for each run. Want your runs to be a little easier or more chaotic? You're in luck. More will be added in the future. Note: these currently do not disable achievement progress, but that may change eventually. 20 New Unlockables: Unlock more content by taking down bosses and completing tasks. Some of the less newbie-friendly skills and talents will be locked until you've got enough work experience under your belt. Note: if you've already beaten the game, you'll be boosted farther along here to compensate. Stat Tracking: Expect an entire tab dedicated to this soon, but for now some of the more important stats are tracked & displayed on the character progress screen. Note: if you've already beaten the game, these numbers will be boosted to compensate. Achievements Tab: You can now view your Steam achievement progress from the character screen. Reroll Skills: You can now reroll "learned skill" options on the battle victory screen. Gabe 2.0: Gabe has received a bit of a makeover. He's still as steamy and weird as ever. The +Max Health option on the battle victory screen has been replaced with an option to receive bonus wages. Because money is more fun than max health. Bug fixes and other stuff I forgot to write down. Phew. So with a content update this big, I'm relying on players to help me test and balance all this new stuff. Don't be shy - tell us what you think and what you wanna see! What's next? Expect small updates in the coming weeks. I'll be focusing on getting the game ready for localization, which looks to be a big project. We'll be marketing as best we can, dangling our game at press and influencers (if that sounds like you or anyone you know, let's talk). More talents, enemy encounters, and boss variations will be coming. Have fun with the new stuff! Travis & KaraBest Game You Suck At? Nominate us for the Steam Awards!Nov 21, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! The executive fat cats and illustrious robot workers over at Steam have informed us that our game can be nominated for an AWARD! We think "Best Game You Suck At" fits our game like a glove. What do you think? While our chances of winning against the likes of Realistic War Shooty Game #397 and Marvelous Beetle Boy 4 are probably pretty slim, we'd sure appreciate your vote anyway. In offline news, Kara and I (along with our 3 year old daughter) have completed our cross-country move. Staying true to my neckbeard roots, I've set up shop in the basement. I'm already back to the development grind, aiming to bring you one more big content update before we wrap up 2023! Thanks for your continued support. If you haven't already, pop a squat in our Discord Channel and follow us on The Twitters. TravisUpdate 1.5: Controller support beta! New enemy animations!Sep 30, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! Ever wanted to play using a controller from the comfort of your living room sofa or hot tub? Well now you can! No more hunching over your computer desk like a cave troll (editor's note: currently doing this). So kick back, crack open your favorite beverage, and grab that gamepad... Keep an eye out for a few slick new enemy animations, too. Here's a full list of the changes: Controller Support Testing: Controller support is in! This shouldn't be considered "official support" just yet. Feedback and bug reports in our Discord channel are greatly appreciated. Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Sony DualShock 4 controllers should work. Other controllers may work but haven't been tested yet. Expect hotfixes in the coming days as I continue to refine controller support! New Enemy Animations: a few enemies gained some new moves... Hell Balance Adjustments: adjusted several Hell difficulty modifiers to be a little less severe. Most notably, many summoned enemies (e.g. Microtransaction Eggs) are limited to 1 random buff on the harder Hell difficulty levels. Display resolutions that are not 16:9 aspect ratio should properly letterbox or pillarbox now. Dynamic resolution support is planned for a future update. A whole lotta bug fixes. So with that gargantuan heap of controller support work out of the way, what's next? Another endgame boss is still in the works. A rework of unlockable content and much-improved character endings will be coming soon. I'd also love to get more new talents, new skills, and new events in the game. What would you like to see? If you haven't already, consider joining the Discord channel to tell us! Travis & Kara Update 1.4: New boss variants, talents, and more!Aug 18, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! We've been working through the summer heat to bring you another sizzling update! Get hot and bothered by these scorching new boss variants, chill out with 8 new talents, and keep these bad temperature-related puns on ice! Here's a full list of the changes: Added two unlockable new boss variations! Taking down the Foul Overlord and Countess of Creative might require different tactics than their normal counterparts. Added 8 new talents to the game: Death Stare, Infectious, Lean, Maniac, Manipulative, Supersaver, Viral Marketing, and Wondershot. Added a new enemy intent: Reflect. Added new status effects: Contact Poison and Contact Decay. Updated art & animation for Community Overlord. Minor bug fixes. The first of many additional endgame bosses should be coming in the next update. If you haven't already, consider joining the Discord channel to tell us what you'd like to see and stay up to date! Travis & Kara Update 1.3: Nine levels of Hell, new starting talents, and more!Jun 19, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! The road to Corporate Hell just got repaved. Nine circles (difficulty levels) have been added. A Smug Senior Developer has provided the following context: the intent behind this change was to make difficulty progression feel less shallow (the previous implementation leaned heavily on random enemy buffs) and more rewarding for players. The final Corporate Hell difficulty level will be added soon. Additionally, new customizable starting talents have been added to the character select screen! The extra layer of customization allows for even more build variety and experimentation. Expect even more unlockable starting talents to be added in future updates. Here's a full list of the changes: Reworked game difficulty levels. There are now nine circles of Hell to traverse before reaching Corporate Hell! Each new level adds challenging modifiers that stack with lesser difficulty levels. Added 13 new customizable starting talents to character select. All character-specific talents have been rebalanced to compensate for the additional starting talent. Several skills rebalanced (Poison the Well, Charged Shield, Fan the Flames, Trial By Fire, Train of Thought). Reduced intensity of insanity visual FX. Minor bug fixes. Boss variations, more starting talents, and additional endgame bosses are all being worked on. Work on gamepad/controller support has also been started. If you haven't already, consider joining the Discord channel to tell us what you'd like to see and stay up to date! Travis & Kara Update 1.2: New skills and talents! Pure Damage, Decay, and more...Apr 29, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! We've had an unexpectedly busy month outside of the office, but we've got some new content for you anyway. The focus for this update cycle was mostly on filling out underrepresented build paths. Defensive, Decay, and Pure Damage all received some upgrades. Self-Burn skills/talents were toned down slightly. Additionally, Dodge was reworked to be more strategical and beneficial to the player. The new Purge skill provides an alternative to Dispel for countering negative status effects. Snap becomes stronger if your Sanity is low (more of this to come). Here's a full list of the changes: Added new status effect: Turn Decay. Added new talents: Pure Power, Guarded, Beefy, Last Gasp. Added new skills: Code Rot, Crop Dust, Stonewall, Purge, Rest, Snap. Purist talent reworked. Dodge status effect reworked to only trigger after Armor/Block. Added a "Go Back" button when upgrading or adding skills. Out of Touch talent adjusted to be less out of touch. Fart skill now deals Pure Damage, just like real farts. Burn values adjusted for Trial By Fire, Macho Madness, and Midnight Oil. Adjusted Health roll to be more forgiving when ending battles at close to 0 Health. Lots of minor bug fixes. In the coming weeks, I'll be working on expanding the Corporate Hell difficulty level, adding boss behavior variations, and more. If you haven't already, consider joining the Discord channel to tell us what you'd like to see and stay up to date on what we've got in the works. Travis & Kara Update 1.1: Bug fixes, accessibility options, and more!Apr 7, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! Your resident Code Monkey has been hard at work since the game launched last week. A summary of the changes (includes several small updates over the past week): Save system now checks for file integrity and creates a backup file (as a safeguard against file corruption in the event of an unexpected crash, power outage, etc). Fixed several bugs with saving/loading. Added an option to view your schedule anytime (located in the character panel). Added "Reduce Insanity FX" option to settings menu. Added Music & SFX volume sliders to settings menu. Added "Disable Vsync" option to settings menu. Macho Badman now sticks his foot in his mouth on his second turn. Ominous Figure now gains power over time (but starts off weaker). Adjusted Multitasking Pure Damage from 5 to 4. New Consumable: Frost Primed Fizz. Insanity audio and visual effects toned down slightly. If you haven't already, consider joining the Discord channel to tell us what you'd like to see and stay up to date. Final Prerelease Update: A New Character Appears!Mar 27, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello friends! We are less than a week away from release! Our army of Code Monkeys (i.e. one dude, who is also writing this) have been hard at work refining the game and adding fresh content. A short list of what's new: Saving & Loading. Progress now autosaves at the start of each new floor, so you can resume a run whenever you want! Several new talents & skills. Try using Corporate Speak to generate Buzzwords, or harness your own insanity as a Mad Scientist! New Unlockable Character. Zeke uses his own unique "Hype" mechanic and timed hits. Can you make it to the top with this sharp-witted shoutcaster? ...and more. Be sure to join our Discord to get the latest detailed updates. Thanks to everyone who has played and offered valuable feedback during the beta. There's plenty more to come. The game releases this Friday at a discounted price of just under $10. That's like the price of one cheeseburger in 2023... We appreciate your support. If you think the game is cool, please tell your friends! Especially if your friends happen to be popular influencers or fat cat journalists. Tell your cat and/or dog about it. Tell your crazy aunt on Facebook who thinks video games are the devil's work. As a humble indie studio, we'll take all the help we can get to let gamers know that our game is out there! It's in a solid state for Early Access, and we'll continue to make it even better. More talents, more skills, more enemies - more "final" bosses. We hope you have fun playing. -Travis & Kara
