New Neighbears contains the following: 4 new bears. Their stories are longer than any of the game’s original bears, but also designed to take less calendar time to complete – i.e. less waiting in between story beats, and no “waiting for one bear to give you something that another bear needs.” (See, we’ve been listening to you!) These bears appear on the island once you have ascended certain of the old bears. A new type of critter – Butterflies – to catch and collect during the Spring and Summer seasons. A new option (once you’ve completed a certain quest, we won’t say more than that) to bring all the bears together in one place with you for a special group moment. A new song added to the background music collection Unique new clothing that you’ll automatically receive upon purchasing the DLC Bonus: some free expansions for your clothing closet, as an extra “thank you” for supporting us. Bonus: a free, special house cat. The Spring Update brings Ms. Carouse back to the island, and with her: New festival items you can earn. Dyes, which allow you to change the color of decorations Orchids, which are a Spring-only source of special dyes Ducklings, a temporary Spring pet that will follow you around the island once you've unlocked them! A new gold storage chest you can buy from Pandam, if you're a late game player with way too much gold in your inventory. ... and more, including some nice bugfixes and balance tweaks. Thank you, all of you, for your support and encouragement. As always, we are very grateful to you, and we hope you enjoy these updates. :)Update 4.2Feb 16, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHowdy Scouts! This is intended to be the last update before our major Spring Update and New Neighbears DLC. It's a rollup of bugfixes and QoL that we don't want to make you wait for: Added an additional row of slots to the default backpack size (increasing it for everyone) Fix for issue where cats were not visually appearing hungry, even though they were hungry Canceled animal yoga class (animals won’t appear bent out of shape anymore) Sped up the animal feeding animation sequence Allow players to select what items to give in all delivery quests, not just some of them Fix for getting stuck when scrolling in inventory/filters Fixed issue where the game could freeze if the player drops a large stack of decorations Allison’s photo quests require less food Quest turn-in UI stays visible when quest log is open Quest log and backpack UIs auto-hide when you’re moving an item New solution that will hopefully prevent players from borking their save files by accidentally time travelling backwards. (No guarantees here, but we tried our best.) Speculative fix that will hopefully stop chaseable imps from sometimes getting trapped inside objects and thus becoming uncatchable by the player Add support for future premium DLC! Pandam no longer sells snow sculptures Updated catbox button UI to make it more obvious how to convert hairballs into other essence. Fix for issue where the dowsing rod might fail to detect new targets at the start of a new day. Cleaned up some technical debt. Various minor performance improvements. Update 4.1Jan 5, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHappy new year, Scouts! This was supposed to be a "minor" update, but it has some pretty significant performance improvements and QoL changes, in addition to some important bugfixes, that perhaps make this a "medium" update? We're pleased to release our third major update to Cozy Grove! Here's a list of the highlights for the "Winter Update": The Winter Festival begins December 23rd and runs for 6 whole weeks. It includes: new snowfolk characters you can craft and speak to, special gifts you can make for some of your island friends, and lots of fun with snow! Most collection, crafting and storage UIs now have filters, to help you quickly find the item you’re looking for. When you buy a hint from Charlotte, you can now choose which quest to buy it for. The new Wishing Well now appears on fully-expanded islands. It allows you to buy the rarer recipes you might still be missing, if you can rustle up enough coin... New background music track. There is now one more tent upgrade (and 5th interior room) that can be purchased via Flamey. New "complete the pattern" minigame that spawns randomly in the world. Pandam now sells greens and roasted roots, in addition to his usual things. Clothing closet default size increased by 30. You can buy more space for it, too. Improvements to photography quests and hints to make them less confusing / difficult. Perishable items left on the ground inside your tent will no longer disappear over time. Bears will generally avoid wandering on top of hidden objects. Darla and Ms. Carouse will not request clothing that's awarded by a quest and thus not immediately obtainable. Blue clams once again give essence when you hit them with enough skips. When bears step in front of major landmarks (thus hiding them), the hidden landmarks will be slightly less transparent / more visible. Fixed issue that was causing Darla to give out more than the expected numbers of clothing items like tichels. Various performance improvements/optimizations. Various other bugfixes and minor improvements. We have already started work on our Spring update. We'll share more details next year!v3.2.0 is now available!Nov 4, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsAs of now v3.2.0 has been made available on PC and is being submitted for certification to Apple Arcade and consoles! The changes include: Have you been wondering what cat hairballs are useful for? We're finally ready to tell you! Hairballs are the meta essence - they can now be converted into any other essence via your catbox. :D Improvements to selecting an item when there are multiple nearby/overlapping objects. This will hopefully reduce frustration some folks have reported feeling when they are trying to click or tap on a specific animal or object in a crowded space. We've upgraded our game engine, which should help us better support old and new devices while adding new features and improvements. Improvements to info panels so they don't extend off-screen on some devices Radar will point you at nearby rocks that you can harvest Fix for cat beckoner recipe for ultra rare demon cats Darla won't ask for hats you can only buy with wolf coins Darla wont request clothes that can be locked by quests Jester mask is now correctly tagged as a full face mask, not a hat Fixed a number of bugs/issues with photography quests Ursula will give you some decorations you might need to do her photography quest Fix one-off patches of ground surrounded by beach Improved inventory sort ordering Fixed bug preventing animals from getting increased happiness from ultra-rare and legendary decorations Removed old obsolete berry jam and sunflower items Automatically remove old/deprecated items from collections that shouldn't be there Fixed issue where Flamey wasn't aware of spirit logs in chests Hungry imps shouldn't drop unnecessary excess quest items Jack-o'-lanterns can now be sold for a small amount of coins Fall lamps now limited to Ms. Carouse's store. Fixed a memory leak that could cause game to crash over time. Fix bug causing some pinned crafting recipes to display unreadable code instead of a description of the recipe. Fixed a bug that caused some recipes to drop at the wrong times Other minor fixes and improvements As always, these changes were driven largely by the community's feedback. Thank you as always for helping us make Cozy Grove a better game. The major Autumn Update is now live!Oct 7, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi Scouts! We're pleased to release our second major update to Cozy Grove! Here's a list of the highlights for the "Autumn Update": If you've upgraded it enough, you can now go inside your tent and decorate the interior! As you further upgrade your tent with Flamey, more rooms will be added to the interior (but not every upgrade adds a new room). You can decorate your tent's interior to your heart's content. When you enter for the first time, there should be a small housewarming gift waiting for you within. You know what enjoys hanging out indoors with people? Cats do! Lure them into your tent with the mysterious Cat Beckoner. Experiment and see which cats you can attract, and share your recipes with others. Note: you must leave food in the Beckoner overnight in order to attract a cat, and your odds of attracting a rarer cat will increase if you use at least one high quality prepared food. New Halloween event, coming to Cozy Grove from 20 October till 1 November. Who knows what spookiness might descend on the island... Don't miss it! We know that many of you have so many plants that it takes you forever to harvest them, so we've added the magical Accordion tool to the game! Use it to harvest many plants simultaneously by playing them a sweet tune that makes them sway with delight. Note: the Accordion will appear in Kit's store once you have revealed Bruin on the island. New Photography minigame! Join Arjun in his favorite activity to capture the magic of the island and your decorative scenes. Bunnies will now be available to join your outdoor birds and deer. New background music. Improved stone skipping activity. New clothing options, including some Halloween-exclusive outfits. Lots of new decorations for the new tent interior and outside. Improved decoration placement and movement. Added 20 slots to clothing closet. Improved sorting to merge items. Don't show happiness flyups when an animal's happiness has not changed Joyous and happy imp essence can be recycled Many other bugfixes and improvements. We are already starting work on our Winter update, which will be smaller than this one as we can't keep putting off addressing some of the technical debt that has built up over the life of the project (technical debt makes it hard to add more to the game without causing perf and loading time problems, and just generally slows down development). We'll share more details on the Winter update later this year!v2.3.0 is now available!Aug 17, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsAs of now v2.3.0 has been made available on PC and is being submitted for certification to Apple Arcade and consoles! The changes include: New chests that you can use to store items in! Buy them from Mr. Kit's fully-upgraded store and place them on the ground to start using them. Optimizations for faster autosaving that should help further reduce some of the frame hitches. New menu option to reduce the frequency of autosaving, for those who want that. New menu button to manually save and continue playing. Fix issue where some mementos in Charlotte's book could be missing. More optimizations for critters to further reduce some frame hitches. Improved item descriptions to clearly indicate that rarer lamps have a wider reach for their light. Fix info panel saying cooked food takes 1 hour when it actually takes 5 minutes. Fix for Ted incorrectly using ascended quest speech when he should not. Shortened the time that passes between Bruin's quests 5-10. Converted Seagull Q21 to a hidden object quest instead of making the player wait for an item from Charlotte. Adjusted some quests with Seagull, Lee and Pius so you can hand in rarer items than required if you wish. More fixes for getting stuck on a quest where imps expect flyers. Fix an issue where the Signet Ring item could be given to the wrong quest first. Fix photobooth standees in Jeremy's territory not spawning enough. Shortened item descriptions of harvestable happiness, to avoid overly long item panels. Fix bug where some items could be floating in the air and inaccessible. Fix issues with iCloud where some saves could get partially corrupted, or it could ask you which save to keep twice. Fix bug where some saves would fail to load. Animal essence can now be recycled into lower tiers. Made the animal minder badges easier to get. Fix for bug that was causing crafting costs to be way higher than expected when they were paid partially from inventory and partially from other sources. Fix for drag & drop into quest UI causing items to sometimes get deleted. Add Francesca special gossip that teaches about growing orchards and their benefits. Fix for Seagull's final story quest being inaccessible for some players As always, these changes were driven largely by the community's feedback. Thank you as always for helping us make Cozy Grove a better game.v2.2.0 is now available!Jul 21, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsAs of now v2.2.0 has been made available on PC and is being submitted for certification to Apple Arcade and consoles! The changes in v2.2.0 include: Fix some issues that could cause fewer critters to spawn than expected, and generally increased their spawn rate Performance improvements (optimizations to critters, and optimizations to animations in general) Possible fix for some save issues on Steam and Apple Arcade More robust saving system that will try recover if there are any saving issues Fix some errors in German and Dutch translations Reduced memory usage for some textures on iOS, tvOS and Switch Update some Turkish translations Workaround for an issue where players could get stuck on a quest where imps expect flyers Fix for "Farmer Salad #3" being requested much too frequently by animals Fix for new crafting recipes in the crafting UI not showing the attention symbol Visual fix so it's easier to see where the cursor is during multi-select Burning bag bugs now gives you nothing, as opposed to one coin, as originally intended Mythical flying critters are easier to catch Tweaked decoration sort order so chairs and stools are together Remove lost lore recipe from random drops, so you have to piece together bits of lore as originally intended Spawn Darla O'Hare in the same place as Pandam (on different days) to prevent issues with Darla in the sea As always, these changes were driven largely by the community's feedback. Thank you as always for helping us make Cozy Grove a better game.Version 2.1.0Jul 1, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsAllow feeding animals directly from tent storage Increased the stack size of certain quest items & raw foods Reduce the mushrooms required for mushroom salads Fixed Alison quest that had the wrong speaker name Fixed critter name being broken in Portuguese Adjustments to stone skipping targets so they can be further from the shore Fixed new rare hats that should be unique (but erroneously had color variations) Fix some issues where quest items were still highlighted in various UIs after they were no longer relevant Highlight closet items that are useful for fashion quests Fix bugs with animal happiness New rock-skipping loading screen tip Fixed some issues where the island was smaller than it should be Fixed continuity issues with Baker Q15 Sort the closet/wardrobe automatically Sorting for the crafting menus Fix bug with stone skipping clams after reloading Fixed some UI issues with selecting disabled items and keep selection when sorting Skipping stones can be crafted into higher tiers Fix so you can drag & drop into the world where the inventory used to be open after closing it Fix for bug where previous throw indicator on controller was not on top of the avatar Don't allow selection of objects that aren't rendering (like invisible spirit wells) with controller New hug speech response for Ted Add small tether radius to travelling NPCs so they don't block HO items Background music should only play each track once, without any repeats New animal hunger algorithm Potential fix for cursor flickering on some platforms Custom cursor as an option Showing an eye-catching animation when a HO hint indicator shows Fixed an iCloud threading issue Allow crafted deliveries when backpack is full Increased stack size for ingots, essences and branches Localization for new text Tutorial hints for drag-n-drop and item placement Amber is recyclable Fashion quests won't ask for specific haircuts or wigs Animal Crossing-inspired Cozy Grove now lets you hug the ghost bearsJun 23, 2021 - PCGamesNIf you've been stuck looking for a PC-based answer to Animal Crossing, Cozy Grove is right up your alley. It's a beautiful little life sim game about arriving on an island haunted by the spirits of lovable bears, all of whom need your help to find peace. Thanks to Cozy Grove's latest update, now you can give those bears a big hug. Bear hugs are just one of the many new features added in Cozy Grove version 2.0, even if it's the most heart-warming. There are a couple new characters on the island now, namely Ms. Carouse, who has shown up to kick off a celebration that's planned for some time in July, and Darla O'Hare, who will appear on Saturdays to sell consignment clothing. These include wigs that you can keep in your collection, so track down Darla this weekend if you're interested in jazzing up your hairstyle. The update also adds critter catching, which means you've got a whole island's worth of bugs to look for and catalogue now. Mr. Kit will sell you a net for all your bug-catching needs, and developer Spry Fox says this bug net (unlike some we could name) won't ever break. The bug selection will vary depending on the season, so now's the time to find all the summer species. Read the rest of the story... The major Summer Update is now live!Jun 23, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey, fellow Scouts! We're super pleased to announce that our first major update to Cozy Grove is now live! There's a ton of new features, activities and content in this update: New feature: Critter-catching Warm weather always brings the critters out, right? Summer felt like the perfect time to introduce critter-catching to Cozy Grove. A whole assortment of crawling and flying critters (with seasonal variation, of course) will now populate the item. You can buy a net from Mr. Kit to catch them – like the fishing rod, it will never break, and like fish, critters will spawn semi-continuously. Mr. Kit is fond of critters and will pay a reasonable amount for any that you catch, and some of the bears will express interest in critters from time to time as well. And of course, they’re collectible! Different critters behave differently, and rarer critters are somewhat harder to catch. Happy hunting! New feature: animal naming! https://i2.wp.com/spryfox.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AnimalNaming-1.png?w=869&ssl=1 So many of you have told us that you adore your spirit animals… so we decided to let you name them! No longer will your dear deer “Squishy-Poo” run around nameless and forelorn. New content: decorations and clothing There’s a bunch of new decorations (like the shell-based set, above) and hairstyles and clothing (see below) that we’ve tucked into various parts of the game. You’re just seeing a small subset here! Some of this will show up randomly, like most of the current decorations and clothing in Cozy Grove. Some is tied exclusively to certain events and/or bears that we’ll tell you more about in the future! New content: photo standees https://i0.wp.com/spryfox.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Photobooth_Teaser.png?w=548&ssl=1 We’ve noticed a bunch of you in Discord, Reddit and Twitter sharing screenshots of yourself standing behind Maker Bear’s photo standee, so we added a bunch more to his biome. Every time it regenerates, one will randomly be selected. New event NPC: Ms. Carouse https://i0.wp.com/spryfox.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/festive_summer.gif?resize=416%2C378&ssl=1 Starting sometime in early July, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with this delightful new spirit, Ms. Carouse! Who is she? What does she need or want from you? What new things does she bring to the game? We’re… not going to tell you that right now. 😉 You'll see for yourself soon enough! New feature: hug a bear https://i1.wp.com/spryfox.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/LanternHug.gif?resize=360%2C340&ssl=1 This is completely gratuitous. It’s never mechanically required of you and it doesn’t give tangible rewards. Do it because you want to. v1.8.0 is now available!May 25, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsAs of today (May 25, 2021) v1.8.0 has been made available on the PC and is being submitted for certification to Apple Arcade and consoles! The changes in v1.8.0 include: New Scoutmaster letters (added on to the end of the launch batch) A "close" UI (x) button has been added to many UIs in order to eliminate the accidental UI closing issues that many of you have reported. These UIs can no longer be closed by clicking outside of them; instead, please tap the new close (x) button, or use the Esc key. Added new buttons for +/-10% value changes in the "craft amount" selection UI Scoutmaster letters can now give decor other than Rustic, after the first few 4 new special Scoutmaster letters that you receive after Kit stops selling logs when Flamey is max level Stop showing Flamey in the quest log once they are max level Fixed sell price issues with a few odd shells Replaced ability to close UIs by tapping outside of them with close buttons you can tap. This should eliminate a variety of issues with UIs closing accidentally and frustrating people. Updated seagull Q12 to allow any rare or legendary fish Updated unique {item} badge values to fix unattainable badges "Select next" button now smartly prioritizes the items it selects for you. (i.e. harvestable pets first) Fix lamps not always staying lit between loads Hungry imps drop essence more often, coins less often. Remove colliders from small flora to make it easier to move around the island Removed colliders from some assets in Seagull & Veggie's domains (^ same reason) Add 'perpetual daylight' option to options menu, for people who only have opportunity to play at night and would like to experience the game "in the day" (or who have vision issues and find daytime easier to play.) Fix hanging on tool breaking bubble. New UI logic to more smartly display how many of an item you own New UI logic to more smartly display whether a plant produces something new to your collection Fixed a couple issues blocking quest progression for people who are time traveling Increased coin rewards from hungry imps and dirt mounds Fixed large sand dunes overlapping things they shouldn't Added spirit wood drops to a small handful of end game chats that were missing them Fixed water tile texture size issue resulting in visible gridlines The territories of bears that have ascended will now remain permanently colored Improved world generation performance Fixed cobblestone floor sprites overlapping water Change the tag 'unique' to 'mythical' since they aren't strictly unique, just incredibly rare Fix some prices not being listed in Pandam's store in Russian Animals stop moving when you start to interact with them Increased the amount of clothing storage for sale. Save Slot selection UI now shows campaign day Fix issue where using spacebar to harvest while having your mouse over a different harvestable would cause the info panel to pop up More reliable heartbroken imps and happiness calculations Adjusted the ownership stat info ...Steam's top new releases for April has remasters and some actual surprisesMay 24, 2021 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunThe time of the month has come for Steam to roll out their biggo blog post and sale page for top new releases on their store for the prior month. Not every month brings a terribly interesting bunch, but this does have a couple smaller surprises. The remasters you were waiting for nabbed a spot as expected, but there are also spots earned by games you might not have heard of—a retro-future hidden role game, for instance. Reduce the quantity of onions required by onion salads Fixed some visual bugs with imps Added variety to camp tiles Fixes for some non-English text display issues, including Arabic Tutorial triggered by player scaring fish will trigger less often Prevent clothing storage upgrade from appearing in store if closet size has already been maxed out (the max closet size will be increased in a future update) As always, these changes were driven largely by the community's feedback; thank you as always for helping us make Cozy Grove a better game! And a little extra news: going forward, we'll be splitting the dev team roughly 50/50 between the typical QoL, bugfixes, etc that we've been doing, and between new content and activities that we hope will help keep the game fresh and exciting for you all. This will mean that the updates we've been publishing so regularly might come a little slower or have a little less than you've gotten used to, but hopefully the payof...v1.6.2 is now availableApr 27, 2021 - Community Announcementsv1.6.2 is now available to all players on PC and is being submitted today (April 27, 2021) to Apple Arcade and consoles: Be able to craft a specific amount of an item, not just 1 or MAX Add option to purchase clothing closet expansions Add tutorial hint for harvesting rocks to help new users avoid confusion Various balance adjustments to Lee Berry quests Nerfed master shovel quest item requirements Decrease crafting costs for certain epic, legendary and unique recipes Higher level animals will not always require high level foods Reduce hardwood repair costs on pickaxe from 15 to 10 Holding shift will cause avatar to run even when navigating with mouse Up to 8 pets can become newly hungry each day, depending on how many total pets you possess Fix for doober items coming back to you if you place them via the inventory button Esc key won't open the options menu when inventory is open; just closes the inventory instead Increase sale and buy price of all shells by 5x. This game may seem "simple", but it is actually quite complex under the hood and already has many months of gameplay implemented, so sometimes seemingly small changes can actually require a lot of work to implement! We're grateful for your understanding.
