The video shows half an hour of the tester’s work accelerated a thousand times: they test each model to be included in the game. They check textures, LOD, and physics: so that the model looks good, both up close and at a distance, and does not let going through it. For your convenience, the questions are classified into categories. So we had to write the logs before we finished what we were talking about. Therefore, this log comes out, breaking the usual pace. We don’t want to leave you without logs, but, as they say, we need to “optimize our processes” :) After this log, we will return to our usual schedule – a log once every two weeks. For example, the “Select starting point” menu or the boundaries of triggers on the location. Also, while we are carrying out optimization, all car traffic consists of one car model. Soon we will show the game the way you will see it in early access. At the moment, we are adding various missions and challenges so that, even in early access, the game differs from the first CCD. And so that, due to changes in the game formula, it does not feel like a “step back.” Also, mechanics related to the transport ecosystem require polishing. They are all connected with the economy, and we want to make them simple but good. They are fully functional, however, the economic factor in the game requires tying everything into a single fabric. We remember our promise to show you a selection of bugs, but we think we’d rather show these after we share some gameplay videos. And while we are preparing the new layout of our Developers Diaries, we’d like to discuss the details from the previous diaries where we’ve mentioned something like “We’ll tell you later”. Let’s start with the main component of CCD, that is, Traffic Rules Control. We’ve already covered this in Diaries #4 and #12. We will be talking about one of the most unobvious elements of the game – the balance of the car simulator. If we sum up the log, it will sound like this, “How you can make an interesting game from many loosely connected elements based on a traffic rule simulator.” You may read complete Developers Diary on our City Car Driving 2.0 Steam page {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/26638552/45d984a986119449f271d88db7a67f17bcb4925a.pngHAPPY NEW YEAR!Dec 29, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsToday, we are posting a part of our roadmap, where we have marked the path we have traveled during the year. Part of the mechanics are implemented, but for now we are prioritizing transportation physics and traffic. Soon we will provide a roadmap detailing which game mechanics are included in Early Access. Only one of the logs was dedicated to how we started developing City Car Driving. As was noted in the tenth log, we came to creating the game gradually: we collected various build options, tested engines. In the teaser, which everyone is already familiar with, we used exported models from Fuse: for the chosen setting, pedestrians required different clothes, and the quality of the model was approximately at the level of the original CCD. Such systems should generate not only interesting gameplay moments, but also aesthetic ones. Basically, we demonstrated various mechanics of the project: how they were made, what they look like, and how they will be played. That’s why today’s episode will tell a little about how we started making CCD 2.0 in chronological order, without screenshots from the project in its current state. All materials used in these logs are materials accumulated during development. Just like cargo transportation, taxi driving has been significantly changed. In the original City Car Driving, this mechanics was one of the game’s two open-world activities. We’ve reworked delivery, turning it from a side activity into a full-fledged game mode. As we have stated many times, we are making a game, not an end-to-end tutorial, and a game requires smooth transition between learning and entertainment.
