Chronicon

What's NextDec 28, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! It's been a while. We'd like to thank everyone for another great year of Chronicon, and also give you a little hint of what's coming next. We've been working hard with a brand new game, which we'll be announcing properly sometime in the next year. Though for now, we can let you know that it's part of the Chronicon universe, and that it'll be something on a smaller scale than Chronicon. But we hope to make it just as fun! We know a lot of people are excited for the possibility of a sequel, but after 9 years of Chronicon, we really want to do some shorter projects, and try some new things first. After that, however... who knows? ːsteammockingː Thanks again for another great year. We want to wish you happy holidays, and a happy new year! Stick around for more news, and we'll see you next year! - Squarebit & MarruuUpdate 1.52.0 is live - The Final UpdateMar 2, 2023 - Community Announcementshttps://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2041857428756583217/999D5738D5F537AF878CE5F5B6F6A1444EADFD1D/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false Hey everyone! We are finally here. A little over a month ago we reached the end of our Post-Release Roadmap. Since then we have been working on various bugfixes, balance and QoL improvements, and looking at your suggestions - old and new - for things we want in the final version. This update is the last planned update, and with which the game is considered "done". There may be more updates further down the road, with fixes or minor tweaks. But as far as big content updates and DLC goes, we're done! This has been an incredible journey, which has spanned almost exactly 9 years from first prototype to where we are today! We are very grateful for all the comments, suggestions, bug reports, and support over the years. This community has turned out so great, and we are incredibly happy to have shared this journey with all of you. Thank you everyone. We hope you will enjoy this update. ...And we hope to see you on our next adventure! (We'll let you know when it begins!) 1.52.0: Complete Edition: Owning both DLC's will now unlock the new UI Theme for "Chronicon Complete". QoL: Rather than fixing the bug which lets you autocast skills by hitting Esc while binding the key, it has been extended to also work with gamepads. Enjoy :-) Buff display has been extended so that you can now see up to 30 buffs on the HUD. Debuffs were moved to be displayed underneath buffs (instead of above) because it made more sense. Buff durations are now fully paused during area transitions. Companions now have portraits on the UI displaying a counter for how many are alive and any timers (if they have a non-permanent duration). These portraits only show up when playing solo due to interface space constraints. Added a new entry to the Help Index with information on the Mechanist and her unique mechanics. Added a new entry to the Help Index with information on all enemy Affixes. Larger damage numbers should now display on top of smaller numbers. Items: Lucilla's Vision (TL Helm) buffed to using 100% of overhealing, up from 10%. Berserker: Frostwyrm set 3p bonus now increases the maximum amount of Frost Winds by 10, up from 5. Mechanist: Runes: Lesser Rune of Loaded Bombs now Greater Augments to 100% increased damage per Ammo, up from 50%. Lesser Rune of T-342 now removes the cooldown of MOAB entirely (was halved before). Lesser Rune of Rocketeer Bots now works with Entity's Inclination (Artifact that applies Weakness stacks on Satellite hits). Drone Pilot (Set) Now counts all Drones, including Turrets with the Drone tag (from the 2p set effect) for the 4p set effect. Mechalord's Legacy (Set) Mechalord's Legacy damage stacking effect is now displayed on your buffs, so they are easier to track. Skills: Added small visuals for Mechanist Ultimate abilities. Improved Mechanist's Whirl skills so that they ...Update 1.51.0 is live with fixes, tweaks, and some QoL improvementsFeb 3, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Thanks for the reports & feedback! This update should fix most of the recent issues, and also reflects on some of the recent suggestions & feedback. For the next update, I'm taking another pass at some Mechanist stuff, as well as looking at making some UI improvements based on recent (and some long-time) suggestions. Keep the bug reports, feedback, and suggestions coming! I very much appreciate all your engagement :) Thank you, and have a good weekend! Here are the full notes: 1.51.0: QoL: You can now right-click Bramley to go directly to the Expedition Tree. Stackable items are now marked as favorite if either the source or target stack is marked as favorite when transferring to or from the Stash. Runestone renamed "Blank Runestone" to further emphasize on the difference between the Dungeon and Elite Dungeon Anomaly rewards. Improved text display on the Anomaly Waypoint interface (mostly noticable for non-Latin fonts), and several other UI panels. Mechanist: Improved targeting of Rip Blade and Seeker Swarm, reducing the chances of it not hitting anything. (Keep in mind that if it goes off screen too far it will still disappear, so try and point it towards closer groups) Updated visuals of Bomb Bots explosion. Updated visuals of Misfire. Fixes: Fixed issue where Machine March (Mechanist TL Axe) would snapshot and count companions twice. Fixed issue where Magic Mags (Mechanist Mastery Perk) would trigger on the Drone Pilot 3p bonus, and then cause the Drone Pilot 3p bonus to immediately trigger again, consuming all ammo, effectively not making any difference. Fixed Drone Controller (Mechanist TL item) not granting an extra Drone when using Bomb Bots, and updates its description to be more clear. Fixed issue where Gunner's Toolbox and Lesser Rune of Pandora's Turret could both spawn the extra Turret(s) in the wrong location. Fixed Light Lance (Mechanist Holy Passive) always triggering regardless of listed proc rate or points spent on the skill. Fixed Restorative Tech (Mechanist Mastery Perk) not working. Fixed Dragon Leap (Berserker Fire skill) not being able to hit targets the player landed on, if landing on the exact same spot as the target. Fixed Ammo Find stat (Mechanist) not properly being affected by effects that increase all Minor stat, depsite being a Minor stat. Fixed being able to roll Ammo enchants on non-Mechanist characters while Enchanting. Fixed issue where when swapping from one Mechanist character to another, the Mastery tree would not reset properly and some points would transfer. Fixed the Fire and Physical Specialization expedition nodes for Mechanist being swapped (Fire increased phys skill damage, and vice versa). Fixed the Physical Specialization expedition nodes for Templar having the Sword Hurl and Shield Boomerang improvements switched. Fixed some tooltip issues when opening the Wardrobe or the Codex when using a gamepad. Fixed the Mythical Axe crafting recipe not having the correct icon and missing its name....Update 1.50.7 live with fixes!Jan 26, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! How are you enjoying The Mechanist? A few issues popped up and this update will take care of some of the more immediate ones, such as the Laser Drone crashing on boss death cutscenes. I am also working on another update to squash the rest of the bugs, and fix some weird skill behavior and such. I also expect to be doing a balance/tweak pass over the next few weeks, so if you have any feedback regarding balance and builds, please let me know! (I would also recommend joining our Discord and theorycraft and bounce ideas with the community! This is also the place where I am most active myself. Here is a link: https://discord.gg/nSKhPEA ) Anyway, I hope you're having a good time! Thank you! 1.50.7 Lowered volume of the M3D1C companion. Fixed Flame Zag adding ammo instead of consuming it. Fixed "+x Max Ammo" enchants not being translated. Fixed Power Bots not granting any Holy Damage when activated. Fixed bad offsets and some cutoff on tooltips in some languages (like French). Fixed Laser Drones causing a crash. Fixed The Mechanist having a Templar Holy Mastery node instead of her own Holy Mastery node. Fixed some set bonus typos. Fixed issue where any newly created character wouldn't show up on the Load Hero screen until the game was restarted. Fixed Lancer (Legendary gun) dropping earlier than its other element counterparts (was 5, is now 15). The Mechanist DLC is now available!Jan 25, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! The Mechanist is now available! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2206120/Chronicon__The_Mechanist/ We hope you will enjoy playing it as much as we did making it. Thank you for your support!Update 1.50.5 live with fixesJan 24, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Another small update as we are prepping to release The Mechanist. Which we will be doing... tomorrow! Thanks for your reports, and please let us know if you find any more issues. Thank you! Here are the full notes: 1.50.5 Prepared for Mechanist release... Added more stash tab icons (right click stash tab icons to cycle the image) - these additions may have shuffled your currently selected ones. Skills "Poison Arrow" and "Vine Shot" (Warden) are now Archery skills rather than Nature. Fixed several thrown skills not breaking breakable objects they pass through. Fixed some skills that can change behaviour with an item/power (like Screaming Skulls) not breaking breakable objects properly when changed. Fixed Gargoylantuan (boss) not being localized in the cutscene. Fixed several misc localization issues (including bad developer grammar and typos). Fixed issue with copying hardcore characters to the test builds. Fixed issue where the skill in the leftmost slot would require "force attack" to be held when using click to move. Fixed UI related crash that could occur when sending the Beast to sell items. Fixed crash on verifying older hardcore character save files. Update 1.50.3 is out to fix the launch problem (for real this time)Jan 13, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Thanks for being patient with us. We have finally got a fix for the launching issue introduced with update 1.50.0! This update runs on a BETA build of the game engine so there may be some unexpected behavior - please let us know if you encounter anything weird. We will be updating another time around the DLC release (still planned for later this month) on a stable engine release, so if there are any weird issues we are expecting to have them resolved by then. Also included in this update is another Shared Stash tab :) Thanks again - we look forward to releasing the Mechanist! Here are the full notes: 1.50.3: Added an additional stash tab for everyone. Fixed the game not launching issue. Fixed some bad tooltips and misc typos. Fixed several issues with localization where a game restart was needed to fully update the changed language. Fixed several instances of overlapping or bad padding in tooltips and UI elements. The Mechanist Arrives in January!Dec 22, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! We're launching the Mechanist DLC next month! We planned to do it before christmas but unfortunately we've had some last minute problems with the DLC, and as you may be aware the game itself is a bit finnicky with starting right now. So we're working on that and trying to get all that sorted out before we release The Mechanist. (Launching a DLC during the upcoming Winter Sale is also a pretty bad move if you're a small developer like us). We are sorry about the delays and recent technical problems, and thankful for your patience with us as we figure this out! Meanwhile, consider wishlisting the DLC so you are notified once it's (finally) out: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2206120/Chronicon__The_Mechanist/ We'd also like to thank everyone for another great year in the Chronicon community! Interacting with the community is by far the best part of the job, and we are very happy to have such a great one! What the next year holds for Chronicon is uncertain, though we are looking to start something new... it won't be Chronicon 2 - but it might just be related to Chronicon... so stay tuned for more news on that, in the next year. See you in 2023! Update 1.50.1 is out to fix the launching problemDec 16, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! There was an issue in the previous update which made it so the game sometimes wouldn't launch - this issue should now be fixed. Please let us know if you're still seeing this problem! We also fixed a few other things while we were at it. Thanks! 1.50.1 Added more shorthands for really large numbers. Items no longer roll enchants/stats that are exclusive to a class that isn't being played, ie no longer getting random Shadow Damage when not playing a Warlock or Ammo enchants when not playing Mechanist. Fixed some missing text in localizations. Fix for game not starting properly on Steam sometimes. Update 1.50.0 is live!Dec 8, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! This update is mostly about preparing for the next DLC - The Mechanist. We have also added full support for German, and there are quite a few tweaks, fixes, and other improvements as well! We now also support cross-platform cloud saving, so you can take your PC characters to your Steam Deck, for example! Here are the full notes. Stay tuned for more! 1.50.0: Notes: This update prepares the base game for the next DLC: The Mechanist. There are also some tweaks, QoL additions, and fixes for the base game. New Language: German. Controls: Added support for mouse side buttons. Events: Seasonal Events (Christmas, Halloween) are now repeatable each year on the same character. The Christmas event now runs from Dec 1st to Dec 30th (Was 15th-31st). Enemies & Combat: Slightly increased collision boundaries for Goblins so they are less likely to warp through doors. This also affects the Anomaly Bosses which are Goblins. Multiplied Dummy health by 100 since you guys keep killing them. Items & Loot: Beast Foods drops no longer play the crafting material sound. Tarot no longer gives you legacy items. Injectors and launchers now drop from level 50 and up and on Heroic or higher difficulty, where most rare special items & materials start dropping. Injectors and Launchers now also require you to have access to the Device Slotter (endgame area) before dropping. Masochist Set (Warlock) weakness stacking is now multiplicative with other sources of weakness, rather than additive. Interface: Monster health% display on the endgame interface gets converted to shortened numbers when it starts to get silly. Same for Largest Damage Dealt in statistics. Damage and Mana now also shorten to M,B, etc on the quick stat reference in the inventory rather than overlapping when you get high amounts. Added Ancient Forest loading screen to western expeditions. Added new DLC button to the menu. Updated Credits. Performance: Some rare stuttering issues should now be fixed. Audio-related performance issues have been improved. Combat performance should also be slightly improved in hectic situations. Skills: Masteries which increase proc rates multiplicatively should now properly go beyond 100% with Crown of Innate Possibilities, since this makes sense. Seeds (Warden synergy passive) now bases damage off Razor Tips as the tooltip suggests. Sound: Sounds that play super frequently should now lower their volume a bit in the most chaotic instances. Stats: Added a new "Parry" stat which works like Evasion. This stat is currently reserved for the upcoming new Class :) Fixes: Fixed some text errors in English and French. Fixed Elixir of Movement Speed giving half the listed amount. Fixed some starter items being flagged as Legacy items. Fixed some skills and satellites using incorrect targeting, and targeting things out of range (and therefore being unable to attack them). Fixed expedition passive "Prowler" not affecting the berserker "Chilled" weaken passive. Fixed Warlock not being...NEW DLC: The Mechanist!Dec 6, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Hope you're having a good time with the new update! Thanks for the bug reports and feedback on all the new things. We have decided to make Injectors and Launchers drop more frequently, and also to cap the Elixir Effectiveness stat as it would very quickly get out of hand, putting Elixirs in a place we did not intend. We hope these changes makes as much sense to you as it does to us - and please let us know if you find any more issues and we'll get right on that. Thanks, hope you enjoy! Here's the full notes: 1.40.1: Stats & Combat: Elixir Effectiveness stat now caps out at 200%. Removed the "Repulse" affix from enemies, as it would "shotgun" players when an enemy casting it was grouped up with lots of other enemies. (Repulse deals damage from each of the casters nearby "friend"). Added back the Surger affix (lots of lightning orbs). Injectors & Launchers: Now 30% more likely to drop. Now shows up on your map with their own unique icons. Fixes: Fixed issue where the proc rate of Avatar of Life (Templar) wasn't correctly affected by Crown of Innate Possibilities, as expected from the tooltip. It will now be able to proc 100% of the time. Fixed issue where Hallowed crits wouldn't be considered for the Judgement DoT effect from the Ayeela Set (Templar). Fixed Avenger (Templar) set working even if not knowing the skill. Fixed Enchanted Arms (Templar Synergy Passive) working without having the required skill. Fixed issue causing Astral Power (Artifact) + Mightcap (helmet) not granting the correct amount of companions from Soul Replication (Templar). Fixed Hydraloop (ring) not working for non-Berserkers anymore. Fixed Boulderfist (Berserker Rune) not properly triggering Strong Fists and Bruised (Stonefist passives). Fixed Heart of the Forest (TL Accessory) not working properly with Boulderfist (Berserker Rune). Fixed issues with the Ancient Beast nametag and shadow still following you around while its "away" selling items. Fixed the Codex not listing Thornbough and Woodwall unique foes in their respective areas. Fixed item duping issue related to the Device Slotting interface. Fixed enemies who were rooted or otherwise immobilized and fleeing at the same time getting stuck in an animation, unable to act. Fixed missing text for Vials in French, Spanish, and Chinese. Fixed the class elements listed when creating a new character not being localized. Fixed some missing special symbols. Update 1.40.0 is live!Jun 23, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Update 1.40.0 is finally here! This one is very large, introducing a lot of new things, a lot of balance changes, performance boosts, and finally an official French translation! We are working on a few more languages that will release this year too. We're also working on a lot of other things.. next month we will have not one, but two big announcements for Chronicon - so stay tuned for that! Anyway, as always we are thankful for all your bug reports, suggestions, and valuable discussions here and on Discord. It's always a joy to interact with this great community! Thank you, and we hope you enjoy this update! 1.40.0: New Language: French New Mechanics: Elixirs: Added 27 new Elixirs. Elixirs are now much more powerful and categorized in 3 different rarities. You can have 2 active Elixirs from each rarity. Elixirs do not drop from enemies, but are obtained via the new Elixir Shop found in Tinka's Domain and The Chronicon. Vials: Added 21 Vials. Vials are like reverse Elixirs, these are thrown onto enemies to debuff them, provide crowd control effects, or to deal damage. Just like Elixirs, Vials are categorized into 3 different rarities. Vials do not drop from enemies, but are obtained via the new Vial Shop found in Tinka's Domain and The Chronicon. Injectors: Injectors are a new Relic item (belt assignable). From a new device found in Tinka's Domain, you are able to slot Elixirs of your choice into Injectors, to be used all at once with a single key press. There are 9 different Injectors available, all with varying effects, stats, slots, cooldown, and usage. There are Injectors designed to make Elixirs last longer and/or have increased effect, and there's Injectors that accept Health & Mana Potions instead of Elixirs. You can get the base MK1 Injector from the new Elixir Shop in Tinka's Domain or The Chronicon. MK2 and MK3 Injectors will randomly (and rarely) drop from enemies. MK4 and MK5 Injectors are crafted via hidden transmutation recipes. Hint: You use the previous tier Injectors to make the higher ones. Injectors are never filtered in your loot filters so you cannot miss them. Launchers: Launchers are a new Relic item (belt assignable). From a new device found in Tinka's Domain, you can slot y our Vials into a Launcher to throw them all at once with a single key press. There are 9 different Launchers available, all with different effects, cooldowns, range, and throw patterns. Just like Injectors, you can get the base MK1 Launcher from the new Vial Shop in Tinka's Domain or The Chronicon. MK2 and MK3 Launchers will randomly (and rarely) drop from enemies. MK4 and MK5 Launchers are crafted via hidden transmutation recipes. Hint: You use the previous tier Launchers to make the higher ones. Launchers are never filtered in your loot filters so you cannot miss them. Items & Vendors: Legacy Items: The following items have now been moved to the Legacy category and will no longer drop: Health Injector MK 1 (Accessory). Health Injector M...Update 1.33.2 is live with more fixes!Mar 31, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Update 1.33.2 is now live with more fixes! Thanks for your reports, and please let us know of any other problems! Here's the full notes: 1.33.2: Fixes: Fixed rare loot creating duplicate nodes on the map if you had no room while trying to pick it up, and it moved. Fixed some passives and powers, such as Demonic Fury and Gaia (bow), mistaking Ancient Beasts as companions. Fixed some odd companion behaviour during the Eazima fight. Fixed Scramble info card being huge when using a gamepad. Fixed the Expedition difficulty slider not working correctly on some resolution settings. Fixed general issue with small sliders having a too large "hitbox" when interacted with, causing it to overlap nearby things on certain resolutions. Fixed issue where items dropped in Expeditions didn't folow the same stat roll rules as items dropped in Anomalies, ie they should now gain increased chances of higher base rolls as you run higher difficulty Expeditions. Possible fix for Tornados getting stuck during longer fights. Possible fix for some smaller bosses being able to teleport through walls. Update 1.33.1 - FixesMar 25, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! This update fixes the issues introduced with the most recent update. There's always something that slips through the cracks, and we are thankful for your reports! We are aware of some issues with the expedition tree interface and larger resolution monitors, and are working on fixing that as well. Thanks everyone! 1.33.1: Fixed Shrines not being removed from map when clicked. Fixed portals overlapping in Boss anomalies. Fixed some weird linebreaks in the enchanting interface for gamepads. Fixed crash that could occur from Wolf companions using bite attacks in certain situations. Fixed crash when shift-clicking items in the stash. Update 1.33.0 is live with fixes and lots of DLC improvements!Mar 23, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Here's a slightly larger update with a lot of improvements to the DLC content! We took your feedback to heart and have done our best to incorporate it in this update, everything from small UI changes and making the Expedition tree more accessible to new players, to larger account-wide progression saving and difficulty selection for the Expeditions. We also added some extra features, such as letting you send your beasts back to town to sell stuff for you! In the next big update, we'll be looking at build & balance feedback, and try to bring up some lacking builds up to date as well. As always, thank you very much for your suggestions, comments, and bug reports! We hope you enjoy what this update brings! Full notes below: 1.33.0: Artifact Changes: Eternal Servitude now also affects the cooldown of the skill used to trigger it. Elementalist's Boon effect reduced to 250% (was 300%). Companion's Calling: Now available to Warlock and Templar (previously Warden only). Now affects all skills with the companion tag, such as Living Blood, Soul Avatar, Dancing Blades, Wisp, etc. Ancient Beast Changes: Beasts can now be ordered to teleport to town and sell items in the same way you can quick-sell based on rarities. You can now Shift-click items to quickly transfer them between your inventory and your beast. Expedition Tree Changes: Added difficulty slider that lets you scale Expeditions into Endless Tiers. Putting the slider to the left sets it to "default", which resets all expeditions to the designed difficulty. Lowest step up is into Endless Tier 1, and highest is whatever you have unlocked on the Anomalies. You cannot advance tiers through Expeditions, this is still done via Anomalies, but now you can set them to be a challenge for your late endgame builds. Added a checkpoint system to the Expeditions: Reaching a checkpoint (Egg Unlock, Beast Growth 1 & 2) now unlocks all Expeditions required to get to that node on all characters. This lessens the grind for alts and reduces the time to get back into things on Hardcore. Optional Expeditions (those that branch away from the main path) are not unlocked with this system, and still has to be cleared on each character. NOTE: If you have already completed these checkpoint Expeditions, just load up that character, and they will be unlocked for all other. General changes: Added 3x Thorns% passives to the West Expedition tree. The first few resistance and elemental damage ranks are now much cheaper to buy. You can now attempt to buy 5x passive ranks at a time, like you would in the skill tree. You can now also remove points - but you do not get refunded the currency. Expedition Passives that are of max rank now have their rank text colored to be easier to distinguish at a glance. Expedition Passives now also have their ranks in a little box, making it easier to read. Expedition no longer list their rewards if they have been completed (as you can only earn the reward once). Completed Expeditions now a...Update 1.32.2 is live with fixes and improved droprates for Mythical crafting!Feb 26, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Thanks for all the feedback, reports, and kind comments! We are happy to hear you are having a good time with the DLC. Of course, a few issues popped up and we have now taken care of the most immediate problems. We have also got a lot of feedback about very varied drop rates for Mythical crafting materials. To improve the feel of this, we have added a small system that should make the drops feel a lot better - full details in the notes below! Please keep the feedback coming, as in the next week we will go through everything we have learned, and work towards making the DLC even better! Thank you! 1.32.2: Misc: Added a little checkbox to the DLC menu in-game that verifies if the DLC is correctly installed & recognized on your account. QoL & balance: Drop rates for Mythical weapon parts have been changed.. a sort of "anti bad luck" system is now in place: If you've never seen a weapon part, your drop rate is significantly increased. You should no longer get two of the same weapon part in a row - they should always alternate. If you do a lot of anomalies without any drops, your drop rate is slowly increased until you get one. In co-op, the Mythical weapon parts are now rolled for independently for each player. Fixes: Fixed some typos. Fixed crashing from expedition nodes (related to zooming). Fixed crashing from gamepads. Fixed attempting to load incorrect or partial translations. Fixed being able to click some Puzzle expedition end points repeatedly to spawn a lot of portals. Fixed issue where the "skip ahead" feature, letting your alt characters skip the tutorial DLC quests, didn't properly work for skipping the egg hatching quest if you had fully grown all beasts, causing the character to get stuck on that quest.
