We gathered some really good feedback over the past few months since Chronicle's 2.0 release and we're happy to bring a major update reworking and fixing a ton of bugs and content! Patch notes below! ADDITIONS New Translations! -> Simplified Chinese! Nano and Nina have a new attack! ---> Full barrage of indestructible bullets. Added a "Laser Pickup Required" message if you fire your laser without the laser powerup. Added a "Mouse Only" option in Game Settings where you can play the entire game with your mouse! Added new achievements. Language now can be chosen on the first time you load the game. Added a 3 second countdown delay to picking traits so you do not pick the wrong one on accident. You now receive a Trait Drop every 2 bosses killed in Boss Rush. Added a visual slider to the Dodge Roll to better understand the length of the cooldown. Added a wave number in Boss Rush's pause mode to see how far you are from the last wave. ADJUSTMENTS Nina's launch off speed to initiate her bomb drop attack is 30% faster. All minibosses now fly offscreen and de-spawn when you move to a side lane. Updated Russian font to fit the game better. Challenges now scale in XP (+25 XP per Ship Level). Boss Rush wave level scaling now increased by 3 per boss down from 5. Bob's Drones no longer drop powerups or health packs in Boss Rush. FIXES Fixed Russian translation errors. Fixed an issue where "Helping Hand" turrets do not rotate around you after trait level 1. Fixed a bug where Nano becomes untargetable if he joins together with Nina while Nina dies. Fixed a bug where Side Flying Drones would sometimes have transparent bodies. Fixed an issue where Traits that were Lvl 2 and higher were not displaying information correctly. Fixed an issue in the math algorithms for Traits Lvl 2 and higher. Fixed an issue where "Reinforced Forge" had an incorrect description. Fixed a bug where starting a new run from The Grid opens the options menu instead of the Start Run menu on default. Fixed a bug where all Bomb Drones had their missile targeter always on. Fixed sprite sorting and drawing issues for the Base Defense System. Fixed bug where Killchain counter in Arcade mode was breaking the entire level. Fixed a silly bug where none of the Dialog Voices were using the Dialog Volume Control. Fixed a bug where dialog was not playing for the Base Approach cutscene. Fixed a bug where picking the "Bomb and Take" trait was breaking the game on the next trait drop. Fixed a bug where killing Fionne too fast broke the game. Major Update / Re-Release!Jun 22, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! It's been a hot minute since we've said anything on here. Chronicle just launched a massive update changing a lot of the base game and we also added a ton of new content. Check out the patch notes below for ALL of the changes! Additions Dead co-op players now respawn before the final stage. Controller D-Pad now works. All controllers now have support. Menus can now be navigated via the D-Pad on controllers. White flash added to the laser recharger for a visual cue when the laser is ready to be used. Sound added to the laser recharger on ready use. Weapon drop odds reduced 8% -> 1% + 0.5% per missed drop. All bosses and midbosses now strafe. Some enemies can have armor and will flash blue instead of white. B button now allows for back to grid from the menus. All damage sources now show damage numbers. New start run screen in The Grid. The Grid's menu dots now flash red when something new exists in that section. Asteroids have been reworked and re-animated. Load game screen now shows your current ship level and highest completed difficulty. Pause menu shows current game mode. Added tutorial to challenges section for clarity. New mid-game cutscene added. New Voice Over for Operator 27. New Voice Over for Unit Eight's computer. Arcade mode now has multiple different voice lines. New achievements have been added. Death defy now shows as a notification when it triggers. Powerups! We've added a handful of powerups that drop more often than weapons to assist you against the constant barrage of enemies and bullets. Powerups expire after set amounts of time. 2x Damage - Increase all damage output by 2x. 3x Damage - Increase all damage output by 3x. Auto Fire - Constant fire without holding down the fire buttons. Max Fire Rate - Increased your fire rate to the max perk level. Ammo Crate - Gives a free pickup of all current ammo-containing weapons. Shield - Adds a player shield that blocks the first instance of damage. Bullet Reflector - Enables your reflector that ricochets bullets back at enemies using their damage. Homing Bullets - Turns your bullets into precision death bullet machines. Multi-Lane Room System! To give the game more of a roguelike feel, Chronicle now has 3 separate lanes that exist. The side lanes can be switched to at various times through the level and have different bonuses attached to completing those rooms. The enemies in this side rooms have increased health and damage. Health - Increases max health by 20%. Weapon - Grants a weapon and increased damage output by 10%. Scraps - Grants a whole mess of scraps. Bombs - Grants extra bombs and increases bomb damage output. Trait Star - Grants an increased rarity trait. Traits! Roguelikes typically have ways to modify the gameplay to make each run unique. Chronicle has 31 different traits that can spawn after a side lane and after a boss. Your current Traits are always visible from the Pause Menu and you can not have more than 9 different traits. Soooo, we fixed the progress bar issue last week on the same day as the 1.2.0 patch and then never pushed the hotfix to active on Steam. So here's that fix. Sorry! The game in it's current state is not forgiving and really makes you hate playing it. We're here to fix that in this update. ADDITIONS Speedboost powerups now grant invincibility for 1 second (roughly 30% of the full duration of the boost) on pickup! Scraps now auto-collect if on screen when you reach a boss. Added controller configurations for Nintendo Switch Pro and Sony Dualshock 4 controllers. Arcade is now locked until you play one run in Story mode. All bosses in Boss Rush now have health bars! Your weapons and ammo now transfers into the final level. ADJUSTMENTS Bob's turrets scale too hard, so we're making them easier. --> Health per wave level reduced from 1 -> 0.2 --> Attack speed per level reduced from 0.01 -> 0. Max Health perk nodes amount gained increased 3 -> 4. Hitbox reduced on the player by roughly 50%. Hitbox now reaches across cockpit to each gun, leaving each wing not damageable. Crashing into enemy ships damage reduced from Half of total HP -> 10 HP Scrap Tank spawn rate increases a small amount every time it tries to spawn and doesn't spawn. Player launched Missiles really feel weak and suboptimal. --> Damage increased from Perk Level Damage -> Perk Level Damage + Half of Primary Weapon Damage --> Damage increased per Perk Level gained from 2 damage -> 3 damage. --> Homing Missile Turn Speed increased from 2 units/sec -> 3 units/sec Laser damage perk upgrades increased per level from 3 -> 5. Time it takes to travel the final run to Zelos' ship reduced by half. You can no longer collect a speedboost mid dodge roll. Enemies no longer bounce back after the player reaches a fast enough attack speed. Missile Drones in the final level no longer strafe sideways while firing. BUG FIXES Fixed a bug where Scrap Tank would appear in Arcade. Fixed a bug where turrets would fire during cutscenes. Fixed a bug where Nova's arm in the Tetraknights would fire if he was dead. Fixed a bug where Aqua's arm in the Tetraknights would fire if she was dead. Fixed a bug where the Scrap Tractor Beam would not pull at an increasing speed to be collected. Fixed a bug where some of the Tetraknights would talk in the cutscene even if they were dead. Fixed a bug where the final level would have unoptimized level chunks, cutting off the player from finishing the game. Fixed a bug where ground units would "bounce back" when being hit by bullets. Fixed a bug where Tether Drones would have sorting issues. Fixed a bug where ammo count would sometimes be hidden behind game elements. ADDITIONS Nothing added! ADJUSTMENTS Enemy level now takes 20% longer to increase. All damage inside ship reduced by 50%. To increase clarity between ammo types, the single angled shots are now a pink powerup instead of orange. BUG FIXES Fixed a bug where a tether drone would break if one part of it was spawned offscreen. Fixed a bug where you could fire and cheese bosses during cutscenes. Fixed a bug where mechs would float during boss cutscenes. Fixed a bug where turrets inside the ship level would float during boss cutscenes. Fixed a bug that occurs when the player touches a Grabber Drone and a cutscene starts. Fixed a bug where the space base biome would try to place building assets in bad spots and break the game. Fixed a bug that makes Nina quick jump for a split second to Nano's position when Nano dies. Fixed a bug where The Tetraknights missile barrage attack would spawn in the wrong spot. We're so excited to share with you what content we have planned in the near future. Patch Notes: ADDITIONS Zoom out buttons in The Grid now toggle between menus while the menu is active. Added different rarity levels for nodes. --> Common (Gray), Rare (Gold), and Super Rare(Platinum) --> Rarity levels are now noted in the Perk info panel as well. ADJUSTMENTS Added 0.5 units of flying space on the left and right sides of the screen. Reduced the amount of time it takes for Scraps to reach their final floating destination by 50%. Removed the vine lash sound from The Tetraknights warning markers for the vine lash. Nina now drops more bombs behind her based on her missing health. Nina now shoots her lasers more frequently based on her missing health. FIXES Fixed a bug where bosses would randomly warp (hopefully). Fixed a bug where the Challenges Completed line in the Run Results screen would show 999 XP on your first run. Fixed a bug where challenges were not rewarding Scraps. Fixed a bug where closing The Grid's menu would not close the Verify Starting Run choices. Fixed a bug where the Verify Starting Run choices would stay up when switching to other parts of the menu. FIXES Fixed a bug that caused black edging to appear during screen shake in game. Fixed a bug where if you switch to Boss Rush, the game will always play Boss Rush until you restart the game. Fixed a bug where the The Grid's menu would say Boss Rush and you would load into a Standard run. Fixed a bug where speedboost powerups were not completing during cutscenes and giving you a disadvantage against the boss. Fixed a bug where The Tetraknights shadow sat on the wrong sorting layer. We're so appreciative with how this game has been received! The feedback has been awesome and we want to make the game even better for all of you to enjoy. Patch Notes: ADDITIONS Added some piping on The Grid near the Pulse Blast powerup for pathing clarity. The Enemy Difficulty Level perk now also increases your progression speed throughout the level by 0.4% for each perk level (up to 4% faster at enemy difficulty perk level 10). ---> This should make the time it takes to reach the beginning boss about 30% faster. ADJUSTMENTS Reduced the progress reduction speed after killing a boss from 20% -> 10% resulting in slightly shorter runs between bosses. Increased the Player's speed in the Interior Ship level from 4 -> 5.5. FIXES Fixed a bug that caused the game to unpause if you alt-tabbed while having the game be paused. Fixed some text spacing between Challenge information. Fixed an issue that caused challenge progress to always show as 0. Fixed an alignment issue between some of the piping on the grid. We've been looking forward to this day for a very long time! It's been an amazing 8 months, and we cannot thank you all enough for the generosity, the support, and the feedback that we've received! Launching out of Early Access does not mean the content is stopping, we have some New Game+ ideas and possible DLC in the future for even more content! Without further ado, here are the Release v1.0 Patch Notes! ADDITIONS Achievements are now live! You can login to the game to auto receive some of them based on your current save files. Good luck unlocking all 69! New Biome - "Zelos Ship Interior" - Traverse down the corridor without your ship and take out new enemies, turrets, obstacles and more! Captain Zelos now has voice / lip syncing. Tetraknight Gren and The Tetraknights both have a red warning before firing their vine attacks. Sound revamp for a lot of stuff in the game. Dialog now has a separate volume control . ADJUSTMENTS Base Defense System guns' Health Per Level ratio reduced from 3 -> 2.1. Enemies have 10% less health after killing two bosses in a run. Enemy damage is now reduced by 32.5% after killing one boss in a run. 100% -> 67.5% Splitter Drones' spawns can now be destroyed. Captain Zelos' voice over volume reduced by 20%. Some challenges will now only show after you've unlocked the content to be able to complete that challenge. Challenge - Kill Bob without Healing Him changed from Gold to Platinum. XP/Scraps increased to 350/200. UI sound effects no longer move between ears. UI sound effects no longer sound slightly different every time they're played. The Tetraknights laser eye attack now fits the eyes better. The Tetraknights arm attacks are now in unison if Nova and Aqua haven't died that run. The Tetraknights missile burst attack is now more bursty. BUG FIXES Fixed a large gamebreaking bug where the Static City logo would not load at the beginning of the game for AMD graphics cards, causing unknown crash to desktops. Fixed a bug whether the Tethered Drone were on the wrong sorting layer. Fixed a bug where the Splitter Drone shadows were on the wrong sorting layer after it split. Fixed a bug where missiles would be on the wrong sorting layer. Fixed a bug where the Space Base biome would disappear after killing 3 bosses. Fixed a bug where some boss ships were exploding too much. Fixed a bug where Driller Drones were sometimes not launching at the player when in range.
