Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is coming in 2026. Helmed by Creative Director SHUTARO and produced by IGA, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is an entirely new 2.5D side-scrolling RPG that will introduce exciting new lore, characters, gameplay and features to the Bloodstained franchise. THE STORY 16th-century England drowns in the shadow of the Ethereal Castle and its deadly inhabitants. All attempts to fight this evil have been met with failure and death. In a desperate, final attempt, two heroes rise together against the Demon Lord Elias’ reign of terror: Leonard Brandon and Alexander Kyteler. Leo is a young fighter with the Church's Black Wolves clan. GAMEPLAY At the center of The Scarlet Engagement is the Ethereal Castle, a massive new map that is the largest and deadliest created for the franchise. Exploration is a key part of Bloodstained and The Scarlet Engagement is no exception. Search the castle and fallen enemies for powerful weapons and armor. Gather special ingredients that can be used for crafting. Discover new magical abilities. You’ll need these to grow stronger and explore further into the castle. You will be in direct control of one character while the other will assist in combat. Switch at any time to best utilize each character’s equipped items and abilities. Lost and stripped of her powers, she begins with no items, no skills and no idea where to go. Her only advantage is her thirst for revenge. Driven by her goal, she must speak to the friendly demons, search Limbo for powerful artifacts, find useful equipment and acquire new skills until she is unstoppable. At the far reaches of the maps are dangerous dungeons that must be safely navigated and its demon lord defeated if Dominique hopes to gain the powers she needs to face Bael. Towns offer a respite from the dangers of the Field Areas. They are filled with friendly demons, merchants and temples where progress can be saved. But safety is always fleeting. When lit under the Dead Moon, even those tame demons become foes. Exploration Reveals Treasures Limbo is an extensive realm with multiple areas to explore as well as towns and dungeons. Each level is full of dangerous demons as well as powerful magic and mysterious items that can help Dominique on her journey. These resources and power-ups can be found in chests or looted from vanquished demons. Throughout the map, resources that have been collected can be traded with merchants in the towns or groundskeepers in the wilds for useful items such as healing potions, extra lives, waystones and more. The most powerful magic will be hidden within the dungeons. The mode includes local play as well as an online mode that includes the ability to invite a friend directly or challenge a random player. In local play, the game is played in split-screen with both players occupying their own area on the top or bottom of the screen. In addition to arms and armor, you can also spend souls to put your opponent at a disadvantage! Want to temporarily reverse their controls? How about taking away their ability to attack? Because you can see your opponent's shadow, you can choose to buy one at just the right time to have the greatest effect. You can enjoy this as co-op (includes online) or singleplayer. First, you will be thrown into a random room and have to find the exit. Versus Mode supports local and online play with friends or matchmaking with other players on the same platform. Please note that Chaos and Versus Modes do not support cross-platform play. This cosmetic pack includes everything Miriam needs to dress up as Shantae, everyone’s favorite Half-Genie hero! There are also items inspired by her pirate nemesis, Risky Boots! The Shantae games follow the plucky Half-Genie heroine as she tries to protect her hometown and Sequin Land from an array of threats and enemies. As Shantae makes her way through the world, she picks up new powers and items that allow her to fight ever-increasing threats...definitely a kindred spirit to Miriam! The Half-Genie Cosmetic Pack contains the following items: Half-Genie Outfit (Body Slot) Half-Genie Vest (Accessory Slot) Half-Genie Tiara (Accessory Slot) Risky Blade (Weapon Slot) Risky Pistol (Weapon Slot) Risky Bandana (Head Slot) Half-Genie Fireball (Directional Shard) Each of the cosmetic pack items can be individually equipped and each is upgradable! Once you find (and fight) your way through the cavernous maze, the final challenge awaits: a battle with the level’s guardian. Because this is a new, hidden area, it does not affect map completion percentages or achievements. Since Bloodstained’s launch we’ve added multiple modes, three playable characters, special crossover areas and other improvements to the game...so what’s next? With the Aurora now in the game, it’s time to update the Development Roadmap for 2022. Our overall goal since launch has been to complete the free content for the game before adding premium DLC. Now that we are getting closer to the completion of development, we can reveal what we have planned. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/33031726/758f0b3c821ec6247bb5993df4fb66ffbfc80785.jpg The next update will be a new crossover area based on a non-bloodstained franchise. The new area won’t appear on the map (nor affect your completion rate) so you will have to explore the map to find it. Following the crossover area will be the long-awaited Chaos and Vs Modes. These modes will bring online co-op and pvp action to Bloodstained! We are very excited to finally bring these modes to you! New outfits for Miriam will be added to the game with a mix of free and premium options. And finally, Classic Mode 2, a new premium mode! We received so much positive feedback from Classic Mode that we wanted to bring you more retro action. We have not finalized the release timeframes for the new outfits and Classic Mode 2. They may be released separately, together or grouped with Chaos and Vs Modes. We will make that decision later.
