Solutions for "Program Not Responding"May 27, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsRecently, we have received numerous reports from players experiencing prolonged freezing on the logo screen when running "BlazBlue Entropy Effect," followed by a "program not responding" message from Windows. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43561596/77a6e046fe95653c24ab1e59edc5d0cb3f0c55e0.png After investigation, we have identified that the real-time scanning feature of Windows Defender Antivirus (the built-in Windows antivirus software) continuously scans the game directory and processes during game startup, causing the game to time out. To avoid this issue, we recommend taking one of the following measures: Try using other antivirus software. Windows Defender Antivirus will be automatically disabled at this time. When Windows prompts that BlazBlueEntropyEffect.exe is not responding, select "Wait for program to respond." The game will eventually run normally after the scan is complete. Add the game directory to the Windows Defender Antivirus whitelist. If you want to add the game directory to the Windows Defender Antivirus whitelist, you can refer to the following brief tutorial: Locate your game installation directory. You can find it in your Steam library by right-clicking the game icon, then selecting "Manage" -> "Browse local files." The folder that opens is your game installation directory. Open Windows Security Center, select "Virus & threat protection" -> "Manage settings." Click "Add or remove exclusions," select "Folder," and add the game directory obtained in the first step. For detailed instructions on using Windows Security Center in Windows, please refer to the official Microsoft documentation: Virus and Threat Protection in the Windows Security App For system security, we do not recommend completely disabling your antivirus software. Couch co-op & Japanese Voice-over of ICEY is live!May 23, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Thank you for your patience and understanding, couch co-op is released at last! We did a mini-tutorial in Vlog to introduce this new function; you will also find the tutorial of how to set the LAN co-op up in this Vlog, because we still see a lot of players asking help on it. If you couldn’t watch video, here is a short instruction of couch co-op: How to launch it: As usual, you’ll start a new Mind Training session by stepping through the teleportation gate as the tiny robot. But this time, when you wake up in the familliar black room, you’ll notice a brand-new option: Local Co-op Mind Training. To begin, make sure you and your partner’s controllers or keyboards are properly connected. Follow the on-screen instructions to bind your controls. Once everything’s set up, you’re ready to go! Only Master Player, AKA the one who binds their controls first, can choose 2 EvoTypes. These Evotypes will determine the Legacy Skills available during the run, and the skills from both chosen Evotypes will apply to both players. During the run, each player can select their own Potentials, while only Master Player can choose which path to take, what to select in Exchange Rooms, which legacy skill to upgrade and more. Those choices affect both players, so make sure to communicate well—or just let the more bad-ass one between you take the lead! In battle, if one of you goes down, the run doesn’t end. You will revive once your partner clears the current room. But what happens if both players die…? Well, you tell me… As to LAN co-op: First things first, you’ll still need to go through the teleportation passage and enter the Mode Selection Room. From there, select Online Mind Training and confirm to connect to the network. Now, here’s the key part—Do not start the game yet. Instead, open the Online Settings Dashboard. On the left side, you’ll see an option called “ACE Connection Area.” Click that. At the top of this menu, you’ll find “Enable LAN Server.” Just turn that on! Once your LAN server is up, your friend should be able to see it and join you from the same screen on their end. Yeah, we know—it’s kind of buried in the menus. Sorry about that! The good news is the dev team is actively working on a co-op polish plan to improve the performance and overall user experience. It’s not dropping super soon, probably at the very end of this year, but we wanted you to know: we hear you, and we’re working on it. Japanese Voice-over of ICEY is out too! The voice-over in Japanese is performed by the original voice actor, Shimono Hiro, in ICEY. Thanks to his authentic performance that we can say the work on ICEY is finally completed. As some of you might know, our producer Michael likes to stream on bilibili (China's version of YouTube) to talk about anything new regarding the game from time to time. Due to limited budget, we're not able to translate the whole stream in English, but we will do a recap every time on X (Twitter) and Discord from now on (so now's a good time for you to follow us on X or join our Discord channel). In the last stream, Michael explained how we select new BB characters by considering several aspects: Will the mechanics of this character bring something unique and more playablity to the game? Is his/her combat style and weapon distinct enough from existing characters? How popular he/she is among BB players? And yes, we try to alternate between male and female characters. With that in mind, it should be clear why Bullet is making her debut now—and maybe you can even guess who might come next! ;) Naoto When? When it comes to the selection of characters, Michael also mentioned Naoto (I know, I know…). First thing first, we do know the game icon is Naoto not Ragna… In fact, Naoto should've been the 10th character. However, during Early Access, we gradually formed the selection philosophy and so Taokaka ended up taking that spot. After Taokaka, a lot of things happened (we even shut down the studio...), we failed in bringing Naoto back to the roadmap while Rachel and Hazama seemed a better choice for us because of their unique mechanics and combat style. So… Naoto when? We honestly don't know. But we do want to bring him in eventually. We'll keep trying! It’s been a month since our last update, and we've just finished our holiday break and returned to work for the past two weeks! During this time, we've been busy planning and organizing our schedule for the continued development of BBEE. It's been a challenging task because this is the first time we’ve had to create a full year-long plan after the game’s 1.0 launch. What will the future of BBEE be like as a game? Which parts of the game do we still want to improve? How can we bring more value to our players? These are some of the questions we've been working through. So let’s elaborate a bit more on a couple of points of this roadmap. New Surprise Crossover Yeah, we already started to plan our next crossover! But we still can’t say if it will feature a new character, or if it will be something different. The only thing we can confirm is it will be free, again! Global Mobile Version & More Languages “Mobile when?” “New language when?” We have seen these comments thousands of times since 1.0 launch and we finally have bandwidth (and money) to do them this year!!! Who is ICEY? She's a crossover character with another 2D Action Game called, you'll never guess... “ICEY”! In this crossover, we tried to integrate the aesthetics and character from the original game into BBEE’s structure, when it comes to the concept design and combat design of the character. So, for those who have played ICEY before, please let us know if it works when the update drops! How can you unlock her? Well, we specifically designed a series of levels for this, which are kind of a side quest that you access from the hub. You'll play as ICEY through these levels and discover her moveset then, once you finish them all successfully, you will unlock ICEY for Mind Training! Also, if you are a huge fan of ICEY, you'll definitely know there is one unique feature of this game - the narration system which has a 'meta' vibe to it. We've brought this to BBEE with some narration in the customized ICEY levels – let us know what you think when you play! I rarely present myself here, but as some of you might have noticed, it usually means there’s something big coming... Most of you have just finished the New Year holiday, but for us Chinese New Year is just around the corner! It’s not only the most important festival of the year for us, but also the most important period for BBEE as a game. But first, a little story about how our studio very nearly died just days after the 1.0 release, and how my team helped bring us back from the brink... *If you are not interested in our story, please scroll down to the end, there will be a small preview of the upcoming update & DLC. WHAT'S THE STORY? On 31st Jan 2024, just 10 days before Chinese New Year that year, we finished the Early Access and launched the 1.0 version of BBEE. For a studio that had spent 10 years developing mobile games, this was by far our greatest professional moment – creating an excellent PC action game was just an absolutely wild dream for us! It's still sometimes hard for us to believe it. But, we (well, mainly I and the shareholders) had to decide to shut down the studio on 5th February 2024, just 5 days after launch and only 5 days before the Chinese New Year holidays. You're probably asking yourself why? Why did we have to shut down the studio while the game was doing well? How are we still updating the game now? We've never told this story to players outside of China before, although some of you may have heard bits and pieces, but at this special point - the anniversary of 1.0 launch - we’d like to share our experience with you and express our unending gratitude of your support. THE BEGINNING Like most of Chinese developers, I began my career at big gaming companies like Tencent and Shanda. After a decade of experience in these companies, I needed to make something I truly wanted to make, so I took a leap and founded 91Act. Mobile gaming was, and still is, the absolutely dominant market in China, and my experience was mainly in mobile too, so 91Act actually started as a mobile game developer. Our first major success was BlazBlue Revolution Reburning, a mobile adaptation of the fighting game BlazBlue. I’ve always believed BlazBlue was the best work to come out of the 2D fighting era, so when we were thinking about the prototype of 91Act’s first game, I pushed to make a demo based on BlazBlue, which managed to get us a meeting with the producer of BlazBlue and the top management of Arc System Works and they let us make the game! {...
