As indicated in the 2024 March Dev Update, both the F-Ultimate Gen2 and the Stock Car 2024 already feature the V1.6 tire physics developments with adjusted hysteresis (but only partially revised thermodynamics & wear) - generally speaking the updates tires should feel slightly "sharper" and less tolerant to sliding than previously. Both classes feature their 2024 respective DRS and Push-to-Pass rule updates, with DRS being allowed after lap 1 for the F-Ultimate Gen2 while the Stock Cars feature a higher number of shorter P2P boosts with no activation delay. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/6bdaf9324a4dee2497f9c2522632a150d2a94483.jpg Still on the content front, following popular demand the Betonschleife (aka "concrete circuit") has been added as an option for the Historic Nürburgring , part of the Nürburgring DLC pack. AMS2 V1.5.6 also features a much improved water shader & 3D trees added near trackside for several circuits and visible dust clouds from cars running over dirtier parts of the track, all components of the visual updates in progress for the V1.6 milestone update a few months from now. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/4feacac58d6ee96a43040d08cbd17900b4c6e0e6.jpg A note of appreciation and apologies to livery modders such as @KRRTDustin, @TomLehockySVK and others in the community who had done great work with the old F-Ultimate Gen2 model that has now been retired - although we couldn´t justify retaining the old model given the lack of actual differences in specifications and inferior quality relative to more recent releases, it wasn´t a decision made without consideration and heartache for the impact it would have on your livery packs. We hope you find the much improved 3D model to be worth the trouble and that it proves a lot more fun to work with moving forward! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/9a6777dc73efabf854e346135690d44e912e28a4.jpg V1.5.5.6 -> V1.5.6.1 CHANGELOG {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/1374b6cdc27598d4cb59f64af838635e9c49d9bb.jpg CONTENT Cars Added Stock Car Pro Series 2024 season Added revamped F-Ultimate Gen2 (new 3D model & updated physics, sounds) Tracks Added Nürburgring 1971 Betonschleife layout (part of Nürburgring DLC) GENERAL Fixed some types of engine component damage not applying additional repair time in pit stops Fixed CTD on New Championship screen when a saved custom champ template contained content that is no longer available such as when mods are uninstalled Enabled offline dust particles Added high fidelity water shader (circuits featuring it listed under TRACKS below) Crowds near the track may slightly move now Fixed wheel visually sinking into terrain in some circumstances Added replay support for Track Flag Panels (new replays only) Added custom DRS rules for F-Ultimate Gen2 (available after lap 1) Added event preset, championship and points system fo...Automobilista 2 March 2024 Development UpdateMar 16, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings everyone! We are approaching the fourth anniversary since the initial AMS2 Early Access release on Steam - and what a roller coaster these four years have been! Some lows along the way but many highs, with the overall trajectory firmly pointing upwards and leading to our highest peak right after our last catch-up in December. Great timing then to go over some of the developments we´ve been putting together for 2024 - developments which we are confident will see AMS2 rising to a whole new atmospheric layer. Most of the team has been working on major new features and some exciting content due to arrive with our next milestone update - Automobilista 2 V1.6 is expected to come sometime in the Summer (or Winter for those of us in the Southern hemisphere) - this will be in many ways the biggest & more important update to AMS2 yet. We do have a smaller V1.5.6 update to deliver before that however, including some cool content updates and new valuable developments, which we hope to deploy before the end of the month. Let´s get into it then for a preview of what´s coming not only for this upcoming release but also a glimpse into the big one a few more months down the line! AUTOMOBILISTA 2 OFFICIALLY LICENSED BY IMSA {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/f825a3ed109b06e2238f3d2f97062b16c2bf5259.png We are delighted to announce that Automobilista 2 is now an official partner of the International Motorsports Association, the body in charge of several long-running racing series in the US, the premier of which of course being the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, featuring some of the most traditional Endurance events in the world such as the Daytona 24h, the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta and the Sebring 12h - the latter taking place just as we write this. Our goal through this very exciting partnership is to align the remaining agreements required to have the 2024 season - teams, cars and venues - represented in AMS2, a process that is already well under way with direct support from IMSA themselves. Such agreements don´t always evolve at the same pace, so as with everything else in AMS2 this is a project to be assembled in parts - some of them already feature in the current version of AMS2, and you may expect some major additions to arrive with the release of V1.6. Subsequent updates hopefully will bring most if not all the remaining pieces to complete this very large ensemble. In our last dev update of 2023 we mentioned that Endurance racing fans were in for an exciting year in 2024, beyond the then imminent release of Le Mans and the initial Endurance pack in December. The partnership with IMSA is a key step to deliver on that promise, with much more to come later this year. AMS2 V1.5.6 INCOMING - WITH SOME V1.6 BITS Before the big V1.6 update due to arrive a few months from now, AMS2 will receive a smaller update towards the end of this month, and in it users will get a glimpse into some of the developments we´ve been working on the past few months. A minor but notable adjustment to the tire modelling of both modern slicks and wet treads has been fastracked with this release, sharpening up the feel of the tires that received the adjustment - these are listed in the changelog below. The changes have no major repercussions on user setups or overall performance of the cars. On the AI front, adjustments to AI lateral movement rates, distances passing routines are triggered on and enabling of a function for AI in faster cars to "see" slower cars further up ahead have made line switches more flowing and also reduced hesitation both when passing for position as well as dealing with lapped traffic. Further improvements on this area are already in the works. AI also improved for several tracks with a new batch of fast line redos. MULTIPLAYER LOGS & REPORTS WELCOME! On the Multiplayer front, users that experience showtopping reliability issues are now welcome to post their session log files in our forum to provide us with valuable info towards debugging these remaining issues. It has also been its highest grossing year, almost four years after its initial release. To celebrate the end of this great year in style with old and new players alike, the very last day of the year brings a new game update as AMS2 hits v1.5.5 along with Le Mans and several state-of-the-art 2023 Endurance race cars. The two new DLCs will remain free for all at release and into the first few days of 2024 so everyone gets to enjoy AMS2 at its very best. We wish everyone a magnificent 2024 - we will continue pushing flat-out to keep it filled with great sim racing! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/667b017b560636fcf33cb5d068bb777db77cb86a.jpg IMPORTANT NOTES: Developments that haven´t made it to this release but that are in the works for future updates: 1- Developments to the headlight options - we have added a feature for AI to flash their headlights at incoming traffic as an immersion feature but there isn´t actually a high beam for the AI or the player yet - we are working on update is to improve visibility under standard lights. A higher intensity beam that you can flash coming up lapped traffic is for next cycle 2- More detailed LMDh ERS modelling - while the performance of PU unit and haversting / deployment overall is pretty accurate, the current model doesn´t simulate all properties of the hybrid system as mandated by the rules - likewise for the next cycle 3- Seasonal foliage and a few remaining trackside objects will be added to Le Mans in a complementary update 4- We are aware of some users regularly running into loss of controller input and / or calibration with the release of new updates, USB port swaps or controller driver updates. We have been trying hard to debug this for a few months to no avail. Usually just restarting the game resolves that, but if it doesn´t instead of creating a new profile, you may just delete Doucuments\Automobilista 2\savegame\\automobilista 2\profiles\default.controllersettings.v1.03.sav and that will only force you to start your controller configuration from scratch rather than all game configs. We continue pushing to find a definitive fix. 5- The Multiplayer Logging Report thread is going live later on today - please use it to post logs from Multi sessions where you might have had issues in; league / event organizers who are able to collect the logs from participants on a same session that ran into trouble will be especially helpful to debug remaining reliability issues. 6- Steam pages for the new DLCs will go live with a complementary update later this week. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/e68420b7b0d6e0e2384f05c3aae5ea9be74530ed.jpg V1.5.3.5 -> V1.5.5.0 CHANGELOG CONTENT Tracks Added Le Mans featuring Circuit des 24h du Mans, Bugatti layouts (part of the Circuit des 24h du Mans DLC, free for all for the first few days Cars Added LMDh class feat...Automobilista 2 December 2023 Development UpdateDec 24, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings Everyone! Here we are for our final catch-up of the year, just in time for Christmas! As hinted in the November Dev Update, we weren´t quite done with the year just yet with v1.5.3 - rather that was to be the platform for the AMS2´s 2023 grand finale. If you have been keeping track of the forums or our social media you´ll have an idea what it is about, but it´s in this Christmas Special Dev Update that you´ll get the full scope of what we have been putting together for the Holidays. Without further ado, let´s begin unwrapping! Circuit des 24h Du Mans & Endurance Pack Pt1 Incoming! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/d0b1b8c6253972630b5957eb73d4c5421d7760bb.jpg At this time last year we were on the verge the Brazilian Racing Legends DLC along with the first Historical Track Pack - both were meant to set the theme for a 2023 filled with historical open wheelers and historic tracks to suit them, and what an year it has proved to be for fans of those! The book isn´t quite closed on that front yet, but with the final update of 2023 we are setting off in a different direction as we begin a push to make AMS2 as compelling for Endurance racing fans as it already is for fans of modern and historic formula cars, and as strong for Multiplayer racing as it has become in Single Player. The first step in thar journey is nothing less than the introduction of the mecca of Endurance racing to AMS2 - as announced in the June Dev Update earlier this year, the license for the 24h du Mans circuit had been secured and the goal was to deliver the modern version of the track before the end of this year. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/6a4586eb23e8c5dbf68563bb79a14f1f0572b6c6.jpg Part of the track team has been dedicating themselves to the project ever since, modelling the main mesh with the aid of detailed laser scan data. The rest of team has joined them after wrapping the Historical Track Pack Pt2 last month, and in the last few weeks they have together made a grueling push to complete it in time for the Holidays. We are thrilled to confirm they have succeeded with flying colors, and the plan is on to release the track as a dedicated DLC at some point in this final week of 2023. The DLC featuring the modern 24h track along with its shorter Bugatti layout is estimated to sell for US$ 9.99 / 8.99€ . Beyond the ultimate Endurance race track, an initial batch of ultimate Endurance racing cars as together with Le Mans we will also be releasing Endurance Pack Pt1, featuring four new GT3 Gen2 cars along with three LMDh Hypercars. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35138208/731d3915b0f23c689b21b198f15348a2ecadd569.jpg Two of the new GT3 Gen2 are as per their names evolutions of the existing Gen1 models - the Mercedes AMG EVO and the McLaren 720S EVO. It´s been almost 5 months since our last Dev Update in June and almost 3 months since our last public release - not exactly a lifetime in game development, but a first for AMS2. Never since its original Early Access release has there been such a big gap with neither new game updates nor detailed news about them. This isn´t a sign of AMS2 development slowing down – on the contrary, behind the scenes this has been one of the most intense and productive development cycles we have had, the results from this especially long cycle soon to be shared with you all. Those of you used to following these dev updates will have read a lot about the challenges to develop and manage a game of this size – many cars, many tracks, many simulation variables, all of which under constant development with new features and new variables being brought in all the time keeping goalposts ever moving and making it harder to make it all work cohesively. The game by design been a constant construction site and some untidiness comes with the territory - the only manner we could tackle such an ambitious project was by leaving perfectionism at the door, and just keep building it one update at a time Deliver good first, then push to make it better - this has been the approach for every new car, track or feature. Sometimes that initial “good” wasn´t even that good, sometimes it was more than that but up to this point we never set out to make everything as good as we could make it to begin with – that would have to come later, once more building blocks were in place. With the release of v1.5 we have reached the point at which it´s finally time to focus less on creating potential, and more on fulfilling it. After the last v1.5.0.5 that has been the primary guideline for all dev fronts – polish everything, to the best we can within the window of time we have. As we dug into it, what was at first a development guideline became a bit obsessive – simply put, we would not have a new public release until we felt everything was as good as we could possibly make it, or at the very least heartwarmingly close to it as far as the core of the simulation is concerned – physics, FFB, AI, audio and all related functionalities. Under that approach and with no clearly defined goals, timelines became even harder to assess as the more we polished the more room for improvement we dug into, which then required further polishing, with then brought up further room for improvement in what seemed to be a never-ending loop. And as we went through that loop days became weeks which then became months, and ultimately we decided to merge what were supposed to be two separate development cycles into one, and now we are finally about to wrap everything up for AMS V1.5.3 release. This isn´t meant to overhype the new update much to less to pretend perfection has been reached, not least as we don’t believe that is an attainable goal in sim racing yet - everything can always still be made a little o...Automobilista 2 V1.5.0.5 LiveAug 18, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsThis latest hotfix includes a few more pressing fixes to v1.5 release, most relevant being Rallycross AI now is properly competitive.
