Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation

The Balance Update - Now AvailableMay 8, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsMajor Balance Changes Now Available We’re pleased to announce that a significant update is now live, introducing a series of balance changes aimed at enhancing your gameplay experience. This latest round of adjustments focuses on providing more strategic options and elevating the intensity of battles. With an emphasis on better differentiating the PHC and Substrate factions, these changes are designed to create a more engaging and dynamic environment for our dedicated players. Clearer Distinction Between PHC and Substrate In our ongoing effort to foster a balanced and competitive atmosphere, we’ve implemented key adjustments that give each faction a clearer identity. PHC units now feature heavier armor, boosting their durability on the battlefield, while Substrate units benefit from faster shield regeneration, allowing for greater tactical flexibility. Improved Unit Survivability We’ve conducted a thorough review of unit costs and survivability, ensuring that each unit feels impactful and rewarding to use. One significant change is the increased construction time for units, which enhances pacing and encourages thoughtful planning. Map Adjustments We’ve also made noteworthy changes to the game maps. Frosthaven has been updated with additional Radioactives, providing players with more strategic resources, while Italia has been reconfigured to increase the distance between starting points. Specific Unit Changes The unit adjustments are particularly exciting. PHC defensive buildings now have additional armor, making them more resilient, while the Artemis missile barrage has been retooled for more frequent strikes with a reduced cooldown. Key units like the Archer and Brute have received enhancements that improve their effectiveness and survivability in combat. The Hermies scout has also been given a boost with increased HP, and the Reaper now spawns more frequently, enhancing its presence on the battlefield. Perhaps the most significant change comes with Substrate units. While they no longer have armor, they now feature much faster shield regeneration and higher max shields, allowing for greater resilience in battle. This shift encourages players to rethink their strategies and how they engage with these units. We Value Your Feedback We’re eager for you to explore these changes and experience the new dynamics they bring to the game. Your feedback is crucial to us, and we look forward to hearing how these adjustments impact your gameplay. Together, let’s continue to improve and evolve our game! The DLC adds new asymmetrical maps based on real-world geographic locations and distributes resources to offset the geographical disadvantages on each battlefield. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1715480/Ashes_of_the_Singularity_Escalation__Core_Worlds_DLC/ Each map is of varying size and have metal and radioactive resources distributed in a way that offsets some of the disadvantages provided by the terrain. The asymmetrical design is meant to challenge the player to manage their units so that they are not bottlenecked or steamrolled by their enemies. Players should study the geography and strategize to use it to their advantage. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/fcb546ea98a74758ead93266100149e209c44a61.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/dc52b128fb8c09e3073d7ff82d59ce7bc19e33ad.jpg “We wanted players to feel like they were fighting in a real-world location,” said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock. “Since the geography was taken from places that do, in fact, exist, we accomplished exactly that.” Core Worlds New Maps Dubola: This medium map for up to 6 players offers few places to hide and tight maneuverability for your armies. There are plenty of metal and radioactive deposits for you to claim, but you'll have to defend them carefully to prevent your enemies from overtaking them. Gibraltar: There's hardly any room to breathe on this small 2 player map that promises almost immediate action as you fight your opponent for what precious resources are available. The temptation of a single Turinium reactor between you both is almost too much to resist - be careful not to waste too many resources trying to guard it! You might just leave your Nexus defenseless. Nantes: Up to 6 players will contend with one another for control on this medium-sized map. Each base sits on unique terrain, from plateaus to craters, and you will need to guard your surrounding resources carefully to prevent your enemies from gaining an advantage. Freising: Face down your enemies on this frozen tundra for up to 4 players. Each base is tucked behind a plateau, obscuring visibility, and other choke points are tactical places for setting up your defenses along the trenches that run through this landscape. Jigsaw: With winding trenches and vantage points for your base atop small plateaus, this small map provides a close-quarters challenge for up to 4 players. Your armies will need to fight for dominance on the combat paths - maybe a coordinated airstrike can turn the tides in your favor while your enemy is distracted. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/2aad9a0b0b4452ec2c59d0cf0589e635e698aa63.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/eb03e7caadbba8fc4a840cf9afcd2536c9a8eb57.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/600a80c8f61348f32cf9be59543a5d1578f3bf14.jpg v3.1 Optimizes Game with Faster Load Times and Major Balance UpdatesSep 8, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsAshes of the Singularity: Escalation, Now with Faster Load Times and Major Balance Updates Stardock’s massive-scale real-time strategy game received an update today that reduces load times and improves combat balance and visuals. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/b7227b5c2460d8ad5fbac36eeb1f82b81dc988c1.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/56f4b92c6cdc638530ba71b11b781cc8379eaec2.jpg Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation takes place in a post-technological singularity world where sentient AI, known as the Substrate, are in a war of annihilation against the Post-Human Coalition. "This update makes significant improvements in performance,” said Stardock CEO Brad Wardell. “We increased the number of CPU cores that can simultaneously interact with the GPU from 8 to 16 which should translate to smoother performance when thousands of units are on screen.” {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/b02b4cc93b33c7ce25c1478fbe0ea0542c03d586.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25992960/07313c9b7017fceb85c1385a2958b27c6d49bcde.jpg The Turtle Wars and Entropy scenarios have been re-balanced in order to implement changes from previous version updates.
