Ashes of the Singularity merges with Escalation expandaloneFeb 18, 2017 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunStardock’s standalone RTS expansion Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation is no longer an expandalone. Three months after launching Escalation, Stardock have rolled the original Ashes of the Singularity and Escalation into one game and pulled the original from sale. Having them separate was splitting the community, Stardock say. Better to realise that late than never. If you owned either of ’em, hooray! You now own both. If you bought both, well, you still have both (in one) and also a year of free DLC. … v1.5 is Now Available!Dec 15, 2016 - Community Announcementshttp://cdn.edgecast.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/4380481/733dc0e9ec4cf93bb593823723447369d985de40.png New Features, WASD Camera Movement, and Audio Alerts in v1.5! Check out the full list of updates in the change log below You spoke, and we listened! We are committed to providing updates for Ashes of the Singularity and we know this newest one will provide a lot of what you've been asking for. Some of v1.5's highlights include: WASD Movement: To make it easier to scan the map, we have added WASD enabled panning. Keep directing units and move into tactical positions without having to use your mouse to adjust the camera. Unlimited Storage Feature: The Substrate is now able to stockpile an infinite amount of resources (metal, radioactives) and does not need to research Quantum upgrades to increase storage capacity. Map Ping and Audio Notifications: Keep track of everything that’s happening all at once with the new mini-map “ping” feature. This ping, accompanied also by audio alerts, will tell you when someone has captured a region or an enemy dreadnought has appeared on the field, among other things. In addition to this update, we want to continue to add value to the base game. We are also releasing a free DLC containing a new unit for the Substrate and a new tactical building for the PHC. Check out the details for that here. v1.5 is now available and waiting in your Steam client. To see the full list of changes, please check the changelog below. For more information on Ashes of the Singularity, please visit www.ashesgame.com v1.5 Changelog: Features Added Unlimited Storage for the Substrate, in other words the Substrate no longer waste resources, they can stockpile an infinite amount of metal or radioactives for when they need them. If you own the base Ashes game, the DLC has been added to your Steam account Up your strategic game with the new Substrate Harvester unit and the new PHC Artillery Post building! We've added a little something to each side of the war to open up new strategic possibilities. Substrate Harvester Unit: This unit can gather resources from any region, regardless of who controls them, allowing you to send covert sneak attacks on enemy regions to snipe metal and radioactives. PHC Artillery Post: Build a Smarty System and upgrade to the Artillery Post to devastate enemy armies. This long-range turret can be used to bomb enemies from a safe vantage point, taking down portions of an army before it even reaches its destination. We are so excited for you to see the integration of your suggestions, ideas and feedback into the game. We'll have the full change log shortly but here are a few highlights: 1. The unit AI continues to improve. This is a big challenge in a game like Ashes because you can't use "formations" in the traditional sense. Your armies are supposed to take care of guarding each other and being smart on their own when you create them. This improvement should be immediately obvious. 2. Balance improvements. This is another area that should be pretty obvious, especially to top players. The Athena's primary weapon no longer targets buildings. It has a secondary weapon that will but it does relatively little damage. The Zeus has gotten tougher and the capital ships a lot tougher but also more logistics intensive. 3. The tactical unit AI, which is a different system, is smarter. This will be most obvious with the Destructor (Substrate) which not only does more damage but is much better about hanging back out of trouble to destroy buildings. These are just 3 examples of improvements we've done for this month's update. We are also working on new maps in preparation for Season 3. While most people (>95%) play Ashes of the Singularity as a single player game, the active multiplayer community is having an exciting time with season 2 top 3 players within a handful of points of each other. We are not ready to declare the end of season 2 yet. We will give a specific timeline shortly. Season 3's maps will probably be a bit larger than season 2's. Stay tuned.Ashes of the Singularity v1.32 ReleasedSep 19, 2016 - Community AnnouncementsHello, We've taken some time to fix some UI bugs and close some game exploits, and improve performance. Please read below for details: Improved the "game speed" functionality to prevent inconsistent gameplay behaviours in the campaign and skirmishes. All weapon modules now start with cooldown at 0. This means all weapons will fire immediately after being built. Players will no longer be able to build any unit by selecting another building and (very quickly) pressing the previous factory's hotkey. Aircraft no longer stop moving when issued a stop command. This addresses an exploit in which a player spams stop and gets the aircraft to hover over a target. Fixed a GWG issue that caused flashing lights and white circles to appear around buildings Optimized shaders to improve performance. Updated Computronium (resource lines) appearance to blend better with the environment. Holding between 4 and 6 players, each map provides exciting opportunities for free-for-all matches, large team matches, and more. The new scenario will leave you fighting for a planet's control against the enemy Substrate in order to hold onto your fortified plateau long enough to seize victory. NEW SCENARIO: Against All Odds Intruder, alert! You've hacked your way into the Nexus that controls both Turinium generators on the planet Qoshyk, but the 4 Substrate entities controlling the planet are now aware of your presence. Mac has subverted the nearby Substrate Guardian and the automated constructs swarms are being held in check for now, but how long will that last? NEW MAPS Anishanaa - This 6-player map contains isolated starting regions that funnel into epic battles along the map’s equator. Xenophile - All four Nexuses start in the middle, separated only by thin chasms. Expand out into the fields to claim all of the resources before your enemies do and seal the victory. Pinwheel - Endlessly turning one before the other, don’t become too focused on the fight in front of you - the fight from behind will sneak up sooner than you realize. Qoshyk - Two central starting points share a resource-rich plateau. The four outer players must break through to seize the resources - and the Turinium - that are guarded within. Safeire - Choose different teams and starting locations to change the way this map plays. An Eastern or Western starting point makes for a slower and more expansive game, while a Northern or Southern starting point will make for more immediate conflicts. Kursck - Keep your enemies out and your armies flowing by building up defenses on this large, radially symmetrical map. Observer Mode will allow other players watch your multiplayer games and the new "half-resolution terrain" graphics option will reduce gpu memory requirements. We also been hard at work fixing crashes and improved the game balance. Overview Observer Mode Check out the action in other player's games! In multiplayer games, the host can allow players to join as "observers" that can watch the action without actually participating. Half-Resolution Terrain This new graphics option reduces the graphics resources used by Ashes. While sacrificing very little in visual quality, enabling this option will greatly improve in-game stability on lower spec machines and on larger maps. MGPU Players: Please note that systems with 16gb or less of RAM may encounter stability issues if the graphics quality profile is set to "Crazy". For these systems, we recommend either disabling MGPU or reducing the quality settings. Change Log Added "Half-Resolution Terrain" graphics option that improves stability on low-spec machines and on larger maps Added "Observer Mode" to multiplayer that allows other players to watch games without actively participating. If you have a video card with less the 2GB of VRAM, the game will prompt you to play with low graphics settings. T3s given slightly more armor/shields The Avenger's weapon is no longer able to penetrate building armor. PHC Brute squad size reduced from 6 to 3, HP per unit doubled. PHC Falcon AA cannon fires more often and does more damage. Substrate Mauler primary weapon no longer effective against buildings (it works by super-heating the internals of a unit, buildings are hardened against this) PHC Archer now fires two rockets per volley instead of 1, damaged reduced PHC Brute primary weapon now fires 6 plasma bolts instead of 4 per volley Nemesis primary weapon no longer can penetrate building armor Zeus Lightning bolt can no longer penetrate building armor Updated the Cerius resource and region connection balance Prevent sound spam when a player joins/leaves a 3+ player games lobby Medic now prioritizes healing units over buildings. Using F3 to select idle ships is no longer creates a very loud noise if several ships are on the screen Pausing during nexus explosion no longer causes graphics artifacts Pausing no longer causes loud repeating sounds. The Substrate AI has better targeting for its "Avatar" orbital ability. Slight font size increases to increase UI readability. Fixed a crash in caused by a waypoint race condition Fixed an audio-related crash in the campaign missions The game will no longer crash if the player whose name includes invalid characters joins the global chat.
