Codemasters extends its F1 deal to 2025Oct 31, 2019 - EurogamerCodemasters has just announced that it's extended its rights on the F1 licence to 2025 - with a further option for 2026 and 2027. Coming off the back of two outstanding entries in Codemasters' series, it's fantastic news for fans of the sport, and it marks the longest extension in the franchise's history. Codemasters first signed up in 2008, with the first entry being Sumo's stopgap Wii effort in 2009, with the fully-fledged F1 2010 following soon after. There have been lulls - F1 2014 marked a low-point for the series as the studio prepared for a new generation - but since then it's gone from strength to strength, with F1 2019 an enjoyable, detailed and passionate take on the sport that's bolstered by an esports offering now going into its third seasons that's become part and parcel of the sport itself. Despite there being more HDR gaming monitors than ever before, the very s for HDR continue to be quite expensive compared to non-HDR monitors, and the situation around Windows 10 support for it is still a bit of a mess. However, provided you’re willing to fight through all that, then the next step on your path to high dynamic range glory is to get an HDR compatible graphics card. Below, you’ll find a complete list of all the Nvidia and AMD graphics cards that have built-in support for HDR, as well as everything you need to know about getting one that also supports Nvidia and AMD’s own HDR standards, G-Sync Ultimate and FreeSync 2. I’ve also put together a list of all the PC games that support HDR as well, so you know exactly which PC games you can start playing in high dynamic range. This year’s game will bring an old feature back to Career mode, add more classic cars, and… other stuff. Codies aren’t saying yet. They’re not even showing screenshots yet. But I will go out on a limb and guess that it’s broadly the same as last year’s game, looking a little fancier, updating liveries and tracks, and tweaking some bits. You know, annual sequel stuff. I’m not sure what else you need to read about it? You click a button and have a free forever game. It is yours. Like so many other Steam games you own, you never even have to install it. It can remain on a list that haunts you, reminding you of Steam sales gone by where you spent hard earned money for digital experiences you’ll never even find the time to touch; entire worlds you’ve promised to visit but will ignore, casting them into some electronic purgatory from whence they cry out to you in the night. Anyhow, this is a game about racing cars. They go real fast. ** NOTE: …and just as fast as the cars, this free game promotion and sale have already ended. Well. There’s that. ** (more…) 1.13 PATCH NOTESMar 28, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHi all, Patch 1.13 is due to be released at 10am BST this morning. Here are the patch notes for this update: - Fixed bug where the AI pits every lap after multiple weather transitions - Fixed bug where players will spawn on top of each other on the grid if posting the same time in an online qualifying session - Reduced chance of collision occurring when cars intersect due to network latency Thank you, Codies1.13 PATCH NOTESMar 28, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHi all, Patch 1.13 is due to be released at 10am BST this morning. Here are the patch notes for this update: - Fixed bug where the AI pits every lap after multiple weather transitions - Fixed bug where players will spawn on top of each other on the grid if posting the same time in an online qualifying session - Reduced chance of collision occurring when cars intersect due to network latency Thank you, CodiesYou can play F1 2017 for free until Sunday afternoon and then buy it for its cheapest ever priceMar 24, 2018 - PC GamerF1 2017 is the closest that games have come to recreating the real thing, and you can get behind its wheel for free this weekend. For the next 28 hours or so (until Sunday 1pm PT), you can play the entire game for free on Steam and if you want it for keeps then it's at its lowest ever price on both Steam and the Humble Store: $18/£13.50. That's a 70% discount, and the offer ends on Monday at 10am PT. I haven't played an F1 game since 2015, but reading back through Phil's review of Codemasters' 2017 outing has me tempted. The game came out just as the real Formula One's cars got significantly quicker thanks to changes in the sport's regulations, and that translates over to the game well, with vehicles that are simply more fun to drive than in 2016. The AI is more realistic than ever, too: your opponents will leave you a reasonable amount of space when you're battling it out, but if you stamp on the brakes too early or too late then they'll pounce on your mistake. Solid PC performance, a deep career mode and a roster of licensed cars round out an excellent racing sim. Once again, here's where to go for the free weekend. Here’s what’s 1.11 contains: Firstly, we know that the ‘team mate bug’ is something that’s affecting some of your careers, so we’ve had a look at how we can mitigate it for you. We know that this issue is particularly highlighted in the McLaren (because the Honda engine is down on power), so this patch updates McLaren’s overall performance, and changes the way your team mate at McLaren handles upgrades. - McLaren performance update in order to negate the effects of the “team-mate bug” in Career mode. - A frequent network crash - Crash when entering Multiplayer having played Time Trial. - Crash when re-entering Multiplayer after having disconnected via Ethernet. - Crash when loading into a post-race career hub with a specific save game. If any of the above don’t work in the way they should, or you notice any issues, please let us know in the new discussion thread for 1.11! Thank you, Codies Classic car in F1 2017 appears to be modder s workNov 8, 2017 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunGet ready for a copyright-related headache, friends. One of the most iconic cars in Formula One racing sim F1 2017 appears to be the work of a modder for a completely different racing game, Assetto Corsa. The car Michael Schumacher s Ferrari F2002 was reproduced by modder Somchith Vongprachanh last year for players of the Italian-made racing sim. But in May this year he saw a trailer for Codemasters latest F1 racer, which featured the same iconic car, and felt that the particular 3D model shown off by the developers had some troubling similarities to his own work. Below are the notes for this patch: Safety Car - Fixed the falling too far back system so it will no longer give penalties incorrectly. Safety Car - Lapped cars will no longer be able to overtake cars that have lapped them. (The terminal damage threshold is the speed below which you cannot terminally damage your car). Fixed a minor graphical issue on the Ray Ban sponsor on the Ferrari. Fixed a bug that caused the delta to stop working during a virtual safety car period. Fixed a bug that could cause cars to become desynchronised during multiplayer sessions. A red “disconnected” cross icon is now displayed next to the name of any player who has not sent network information recently to warn you that there is a connectivity issue. Something mentioned above not working as it should do? Let us know below!1.10 PATCH NOTESOct 30, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsHey all, Patch 1.10 is now out on PC.
