American Truck Simulator

Illinois: QuincyJul 4, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsNestled along the majestic Mississippi River, the city of Quincy is full of rich history, stunning architecture, vibrant arts, and beautiful nature. Let's see what it looks like in our upcoming Illinois map expansion for American Truck Simulator! The seat of Adams County is located on the western side of the Prairie State, right on the border with Missouri. Quincy is also called the Gem City, and it's no wonder, as it features beautiful parks, a scenic riverfront, historic neighborhoods with some of the most stunning houses in the country, and a vibrant downtown. We just couldn't leave out some of those wonderful buildings found in Quincy and decided to make them as landmarks, recreating them to faithfully represent how you can find them in the real world. These include the historic boat club building, the architecturally stunning church in the city center, the local community center, the museum, the marina, and the water treatment facility. As previously mentioned, the town is home to some lovely parks, so our map team has made sure to include Washington Park right in the heart of the city. And of course, both the Bayview Bridge and the Memorial Bridge which span the Mississippi River and connect the city to Missouri have also been recreated. Near those bridges, you can also come across a sculpture, a small detail breathing in a little more realism into our recreation of Quincy.Regarding the industries that truckers can find in this city, there will be plenty to choose from when you are looking for a job! You will be able to deliver in and out of a home improvement store, a parking lot construction site, a garden center, a factory producing superstructures for pickup trucks and similar vehicles, and a grain elevator. You'll also come across two other depots, one of them brand new and currently in development, specifically for this map expansion. We won't spoil the surprise just yet, so stay tuned for future blog posts! If you enjoyed this preview of the Illinois DLC, make sure to add this map expansion to your Steam wishlist! Remember to stay tuned for more American Truck Simulator news by following us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, and YouTube. We would also really appreciate it if you could sign up for our newsletter. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on some of these smaller communities you’ll be able to drive through or stop at along the way. Winnfield Located in northern Louisiana, Winnfield offers drivers a glimpse of classic Southern town life. Drivers passing through can spot local landmarks such as the Winn Parish Courthouse, a prominent building with traditional brickwork. Nearby, you can also find the town's Post Office and the First Baptist Church, which stands out with its tall and modern freestanding steeple. This town has long been shaped by its forestry industry and regional rail links, which once played a key role in its development. Mansfield Mansfield, Louisiana is a quiet town with deep regional roots, developed as a local hub for agriculture and trade and shaped by its position along historic travel routes. Drivers can spot several key landmarks along the way, including the De Soto School, the local bank, and the First United Methodist Church, established in 1847. The town is also known for its historical significance, with a major Civil War battle having taken place nearby. Oberlin Oberlin, Louisiana is a small town with big historical character. As you roll through, keep an eye out for the Allen Parish Courthouse, built in 1912 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, along with the Oberlin City Hall just down the road. Surrounded by pine forests and bayous, Oberlin offers a quick but memorable glimpse of classic Louisiana charm on your journey. Cameron Along Louisiana’s Gulf Coast, Cameron offers a striking shift in scenery. Located in an area frequently affected by hurricanes, this area has a rugged and weathered look. You’ll notice buildings raised on stilts, which is a practical solution for storm surges and flooding, along with visible storm damage in parts of town. Key landmarks include the Cameron Parish Library, a local school, and a bank set among shipyards and industrial lots. With boats docked nearby and storage yards along the road, Cameron has a coastal, working-town character that stands apart from inland settlements. Driving Academy - Truck Driving Proficiency This new Driving Academy module, called Truck Driving Proficiency, will introduce a set of much more challenging scenarios, which will test even the most skilled drivers to the limit. The most important thing is still to precisely complete a scenario by driving along the designated path and avoiding any collisions. Players will also be able to achieve up to 3 collectable stars in this module, which can be earned by meeting additional conditions such as only using the interior camera, limiting gear shifts between drive and reverse, or completing the scenario in the set time. We've also prepared new, exciting rewards that players can use on the same profile in the base game! As you may know, finishing the first module grants a blue traffic cone cabin accessory and a customizable Driving Academy truck paint job. Completing all Truck Driving Proficiency scenarios unlocks an orange traffic cone accessory, while earning 3 stars in every scenario adds a matching trailer paint job and a golden traffic cone, giving your truck and trailer the full Driving Academy look.Asynchronous Loading We have been hard at work implementing a major overhaul in the way our game loads and processes data, a new system we call Asynchronous Loading. Today, we're sharing a preview of this key stop in the upcoming Iowa DLC for American Truck Simulator - another look at what's coming for our #BestCommunityEver.Des Moines sits at the confluence of the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers. It began as a fort in the mid-19th century, but the community grew quickly and was officially incorporated as a city. In 1857, it took over from Iowa City as the state capital. From those early beginnings, Des Moines has grown into a major city with a population of over 214,000 residents. We've already teased Des Moines' most iconic landmark in the Iowa DLC announcement - the State Capitol, featured prominently in the graphic. This striking building, known for its golden dome, was completed in 1886 and showcases the Greek Revival architectural style. Make sure to admire its beauty when passing by! Of course, the State Capitol isn't the only landmark our map and asset teams have brought to life. You'll be able to drive through downtown Des Moines and spot several faithfully recreated locations, including the local sports arena, administrative buildings, bridges (such as the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge), and even some local art, all carefully designed to reflect their real-world counterparts. If you head north from the Capitol, you'll spot a local liberal arts university founded in the late 19th century. Its campus blends classical and modern architectural styles, making it a distinctive and eye-catching part of the cityscape. When it comes to job opportunities for truckers, Des Moines offers two main logistics hubs for pickups and deliveries. In the northern area, you'll find a construction and a shopping mall depot, along with a key local tire factory that features a unique office building suspended above the road. The southern logistics zone is home to a chemical plant in need of regular supplies. In addition, there's a grain elevator and train service depot in the city that both require your hauling expertise. We hope you are excited to visit this metropolitan hub in Iowa! Our next step is the Route 66 Rework, where we'll revitalize selected parts of this iconic highway!Over the past couple of years, our team has completely reworked California, one of the original states from the ATS base game. This massive project involved wiping it clean and rebuilding everything from the ground up to reflect the real-world Golden State more accurately, and to showcase just how far our game has come since its release. That rework was completed at the end of last year, and now our talented map designers have shifted their focus to the next exciting project. With the upcoming release of the Illinois DLC, the historic Route 66 will finally be completed. However, not all of it currently lives up to the standards of our current map design. That's why we've kicked off the Route 66 Rework Project, focusing on key segments in Northern Arizona and parts of New Mexico, especially along I-40.We aren't reworking entire states just yet, but instead concentrating on towns, roads, and areas along Route 66 that need the most attention - everything will be rebuilt from the ground up to be brand-new for a more immersive experience for you! While this phase focuses on areas tied to Route 66, our teams have multiple rework projects across the map up their sleeves. Today, we're happy to share that in our upcoming 1.55 update for American Truck Simulator, we're bringing a small free update to the Farm Machinery DLC that includes a new cargo! Say hello to the Windrower! If you’ve ever seen neat rows of cut hay or crops lined up across a field, this is the machine behind that magic. Windrowers are used to cut and gather crops like hay or grains into long, tidy rows called windrows. This process helps the crops dry faster and makes it easier for the next machines, like balers or harvesters, to come in and collect them. They're big, wide, and built for the fields, but when it’s time to move them, it takes a skilled trucker with a lowboy trailer to get the job done. It'll come in two color variants, there’s a green variant that looks right at home on any farm, and a yellow one that proudly features the logo of OWL, one of our in-game farming equipment brands. So whether you're hauling a Windrower between farms, or delivering one from the depot, we hope you’ll enjoy this new addition to our DLC. We can’t wait to see your screenshots from the road.We look forward to seeing you haul this new cargo on the road in the near future! Until then, make sure to keep upto date with all the latest American Truck Simulator news, by following us on X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook & Bluesky. Our teams are currently hard at work on...South Dakota for American Truck SimulatorWelcome to the Mount Rushmore State! Nestled in the North Central Region of the United States, South Dakota offers a beautiful site for truckers to admire. The state is dominated by peaceful, wide-rolling plains - its eastern region belongs to the Prairie Plains, while the western part forms a portion of the Great Plains. This part of the landscape transitions from flat river valleys in the east to plateaus, buttes, and a canyon-scarred terrain in the west. And don't miss the rugged beauty of the Badlands - one of the world's richest fossil beds and a haven for diverse wildlife. This striking landscape draws visitors from around the globe. Just west of the Badlands lies the breathtaking Black Hills, a dome-shaped mountain region filled with dense forests and picturesque scenic byways.Whether you're drawn to big-city hustle or the charm of small towns, South Dakota offers unforgettable sights at every turn. You can look forward to delivering in and out of Sioux Falls, Mitchell, and Rapid City, while also passing through beautiful settlements such as Deadwood, Wall, and Sturgis, to name just a few. Right at the heart of the state lies its capital, Pierre, located on the banks of the Missouri River. Though modest in size, Pierre boasts some impressive architectural gems - well worth a stop on your route! The Mount Rushmore State is mostly agricultural, with corn, alfalfa, rye, flaxseed, wheat, and soybeans being the most common crops grown there, but forestry and mining also play significant roles, meaning you can expect to haul a diverse range of cargo. Two major interstates make traversing the state efficient: Interstate 90 runs east to west across the southern half, while Interstate 29 cuts north to south through the eastern region, making sure your deliveries stay on schedule.Home to nine Native American tribes, South Dakota offers a unique opportunity to experience a rich diversity of Indigenous cultures. The state's natural beauty is equally unforgettable - from bison and other wildlife roaming the west, to the striking rock formations, expansive forests, and sweeping prairies that stretch across the landscape. This includes new accessories, updated interior and exterior options, and more. Let’s take a closer look, shall we? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9084219/c6afeafb7ec24656c4034a37c86a71d46e558221.jpg Several new accessories have been added to allow for even greater personalization of your Freightliner Cascadia. This includes a paintable airdam, a vertical exhaust system, chrome side mirrors and filter fins, and a paintable sunvisor for the sleeper variant. We hope these additions make it easier than ever to fine-tune your Cascadia’s appearance to match your style or virtual trucking company's branding! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9084219/53df5eab2ab9ddbe6a09963976e11fa0d0ace76e.jpg Inside the cabin, we've added a new black interior variant, while also updating the existing tan and grey versions. Drivers will also have the choice between a traditional gauge cluster on their dashboard or a modern digital dashboard layout. With these additions, each sleeper configuration now includes six unique interior variants, giving you more options for your cabin. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9084219/bfab7ddbf51b89379f4e7415e363722291860e82.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9084219/07cd1e701e90765e054c388aa0e6ae2fd73dd7df.jpg On the exterior, we’ve worked on improving the sleeper's details as well. The 72" sleeper side walls have been remodelled, particularly around the window area. Blind spot sensors have also received an update, allowing them to function correctly with both the traditional A-pillar sensors and the digital mirror displays. The camera arms have also been adjusted, with their marker lights now functioning solely as turn indicators, reflecting real-world behavior more accurately. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9084219/4b15b4747faaf6e768933546139338c9011d935d.jpg Alongside these updates, we’ve made several under-the-hood improvements, including various bug fixes and animation updates to enhance your overall driving experience with the Freightliner Cascadia. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9084219/02a3ead91da5493cf01a7e68777cd7091d669f79.jpg We’d like to thank our partners at Freightliner for their ongoing cooperation. Today, we bring you a preview of selected urban hubs that our map designers are recreating for the Pelican State in American Truck Simulator, so if you are excited for the Louisiana DLC, keep on reading! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/b28f5ba2534a901ae7bf93bb0010a9853f7cb194.jpg Lafayette This vibrant city nestled along the Vermilion River in south-central Louisiana has deep roots. First settled in 1763, it began as the village of Vermilionville before being renamed in 1884 for the French general, the Marquis de Lafayette. As truckers drive through this historic town, they'll pass by beautifully recreated landmarks like the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, First Presbyterian Church, Episcopal Church of the Ascension, and Lafayette Middle School - each one a tribute to the city's spirit and architectural legacy. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/3c329d96a2351fed92c9ac579e361a5690bb5ccc.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/deb390f0adadcef0de572a8aaf344e3fbe817d02.jpg Houma If you venture southwest from New Orleans along Route 90, you will come across the seat of Terrebonne Parish, the city of Houma. In its early days, the settlement developed as a fishing, fur, and shrimp port. Now it is known as a centre for seafood and lumber products. Our talented assets and map teams recreated some architectural gems there, too, such as the Terrebonne Parish Library, the Hancock Whitney Bank, and the Terrebonne Parish Government Office. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/392c22fa00100a03fee96ee162ac7b10474696a3.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/e62abb99584051ca0a8601b0e800f484cab6cd9c.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/5672d4a0031c828a3ba9644ba0ea6db3093e204a.jpg Monroe In the northeast corner of the Pelican State, truckers will find themselves delivering cargo to and from Monroe, a key hub of manufacturing and commerce for the surrounding rural parishes and the 9th largest city in Louisiana. And if you venture east, you'll find opportunities to service the local paper mill or a generating station. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/19ceaeaacd3cd1ad13e8eac15e20b5e66ddcd70b.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/45178b8fbd1a491808fbd71a4cc90ec04aaff70a.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/294edb911c9b4adcb5621c36678bed4360bd9039.jpg We hope you enjoyed this brief visit and will like the end product when this DLC is released. Along with us, Western Star Trucks, and members of the Star Nation community, two lucky American Truck Simulator players had the chance to win this all-expenses-paid trip, so let's meet them. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/194af43f93e26137e4b6a70bd0d5c0dea13328da.jpg Last year, we were honored to join Western Star Trucks for the 2024 Star Nation Experience - an adrenaline-filled adventure in Oregon's rugged wilderness. From off-road trucking and fly fishing to ATV thrills, it was an unforgettable celebration of the Western Star community. A standout moment was the behind-the-scenes tour and driver challenge at Daimler Truck's High Desert Proving Grounds in Madras. You can watch our SCS On The Road episode from last year's event below. And this year promises just as much excitement. Last week, Western Star announced the winners they selected - not just from their own community, but from ours as well, inviting two ATS players to join the experience. They're also bringing back two past SNE alumni, Casey LaDelle and Tatiana DeYoung, as coaches for this year's Get Tough Challenge. As mentioned earlier, we're excited to be part of this unique event, with Oscar and Beny representing us. They'll be meeting the incredible group of winners and the Western Star team while also capturing the entire weekend to create a special SCS On The Road episode. Now, let's meet the two participants from the #BestCommunityEver! Tyler Tyler works for a construction company that specializes in large-scale infrastructure projects - an industry where dependable, heavy-duty equipment is essential. Off the job site, he's an avid American Truck Simulator player, finding a unique connection between his real-world experience and his passion for virtual trucking. What stands out most to him is the level of authenticity and detail brought to Western Star trucks in the game. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/c2eed48df693d16a8b3448b2994cff70486e17dc.png "Western Stars feel like the last tough trucks out there. The new 49X is one tough truck that gives a comfortable experience," he says, having driven the truck in real life, he truly appreciates its power and comfort. Alex Alex is a dedicated fan of Western Star and American Truck Simulator, with a connection to the brand dating back to his childhood. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/117c133ae8bacf0d1b33e03f46b877fe0db6df4b.png "My parents met in Portland, and on a visit there as a kid, I saw my first Western Star tridem log truck, and it left an impression. It has become my favorite brand to play with, logging thousands of miles in both an SFA and an SBA 49X. I had a medical event 7 years ago that left me barely able to walk when I was at my worst in the hospital. I have fought back, working through years of PT and exercises to regain it, so the #NeverBackDown isn't just a slogan for me, it's a mantra for how to break t...Iowa: Gameplay PreviewMay 27, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe hope to make you happy today if you are eager to see more from Iowa. The first gameplay preview from this upcoming map expansion for American Truck Simulator has just dropped, so let's watch it together! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/c6105f465a3102ad10fabf85c937dcd28f1f7eb4.jpg Before we start, keep in mind that this DLC is still not completely finished, so anything you see in the video may be changed before release. In one of our previous blogs, we talked about the Hawkeye State being one of the largest agricultural producing states of the U.S. This is why we selected a route from a feedmill depot near Waterloo to a new depot our teams have developed for this map expansion - an Agricultural Facility - close to Iowa City. Now, without further ado, we hope you will enjoy the gameplay video! So, how did you like what you saw? Make sure to tell us in the comments below!
