Quick Development UpdateNov 22, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHi Everyone, Just a very quick update to let everyone know that we are still alive and kicking! The next release is a BIG one with virtually ALL areas of the game getting polished updated and expanded. I have been regularly uploading images via Twitter, but have neglected posting on here! Twitter: @iENDERi and Youtube There will be a more comprehensive news post before the next release but here's a small collection of media. Some Playtesting footage New Pets! And you can equip two pets at once now. Some Random Screenshots! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/feca5ba98bc4e382b656c25694106e5c932af3bc.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/12a39ff6d56a08713d0b06f8b8e98629da7e5eab.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/bd60a7d7289f9dd80710a7508a953fa906a3b641.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/d2c026a9ffc564fd3b46571b00cbc7dc6c4eee04.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/ec69241b5605afecec4ce4f0a0f8421b67820f16.png Thanks Everyone for All the support! @iENDERi Update 1.24 (Sound Effects)Jun 20, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsBeing one of only two people working on this game has required me to wear many hats over the years. Which is good because I love hats. But one hat that I haven't worn in a long time was the sound effects hat. This is sad because sound effects have such a huge effect on how a game feels. Sound connects the player to the world in a way that only it can. It brings personality to the game world and communicates more to the player in many cases than the visuals alone allowing the player to feel more connected to the world. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/1826aa1550701077d07a19d12a655d7adab5174e.png The content in the game has grown considerably over time and was in dire need of many more sounds. We didn't have enough time to include the sound update in 1.23 so we decided to complete it now before we move on to other things. So I'm very happy to report that we have added a ton of new sounds to many aspects of the game for version 1.24 Sound design is not really my area of expertise however I have attempted to really immerse myself into the process and have worked to try and pick nice quality sounds that enrich the game experience. I also have had a close friend who is learning the sound engineering ropes lending me a hand. The initial results have felt very good and have made the game world feel much richer and more alive, and also much more humorous at times. We have updated many aspects of the sound effects including... Characters Idle Sounds Each character in Adventure Craft has a slot for multiple Idle sounds. This is a collection of sounds that they can make when they are just hanging around, helping the player to become aware of their presence. We had a look at nearly every character and faction and have updated their sounds to give them more personality. So now for example when you are near Punks you will hear them make little Negative "Heh"s or when you are near Special Forces you will hear their radio chatter calling out Bravo! Echo! etc. Cockroaches and spiders hiss and skitter and Lumberjack Mechs rev their chainsaw engines. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/a119e47cdff6d91f6c734e8e54b5ad72ff5496f6.png More dangerous enemies like werewolves have a warning sound slot, so you may hear a howling sound when one is near. Character Attacks We have updated many enemy attacks to have new sounds like slicing sharp blade noises and crunchy and booming impacts to bring extra impact and weight to their attacks. Weapons We have updated the swinging and impact sounds for many weapons so that hitting someone over the head with a pipe sounds different than hitting them over the head with a wooden sword. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/18ff5c6e78c44c2f1206c7c64f6bf2f256d3675d.png And there is more to come. It is still a work in progress so there is plenty of room for further improvement so please leave me any feedback about how the game sounds now so that we can continue to enhance the sound over future updates. Twitter: @iENDERi Old save wont load file fix, and partial sound update!Jun 7, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi Everyone, We have just updated the game with a fix that should resolve an issue where old save games couldn't be loaded. In addition to this, we have been working on a bunch of new sound effects for characters. And checking for missing sounds and filling them all in. This sound update is still a work in progress and will most likely receive a few additional updates over the next couple of days. The sound update will mostly affect animal characters atm, then expanding into all monsters, NPC's, weapons, and attacks. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/68acc0f34c5d9aa257fb507daf3aab01a997d6ba.png The game's music is also muted atm because of the sound work but the music will return in the next update. This sound update is a work in progress so if there are any issues please let us know in the comments section. @iENDERiAdventure Craft 1.2 is Now Available!May 25, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi Everyone! We are happy to announce that the Adventure Craft update 1.2 is now available. We have made some big changes and improvements to the overall game as well as added lots of new free content for you to enjoy. Let’s dive right in. Adjusted Early Game Area We have greatly reduced the difficulty of the spawn area where you begin the game. Allowing new players the chance to get into the game before the difficulty begins to ramp up outside the spawn and beyond. New Dying Mechanic The first big change is an update to the game’s dying mechanic. For a while, I have felt that death is too abrupt and disconcerting. Especially when things are chaotic or it’s nighttime. There are many enemies that are strong enough to kill you instantly which can feel pretty annoying especially if you have healing items in your inventory. So now instead of dying instantly when your character’s health is reduced to zero, you will instead go into the “Dying” status effect. This status effect will cause a Grim Reaper to appear above your head along with a 7-second countdown timer. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/eab6c6789246370b1a6520afe9cdeece664ba2b4.png Enemies will stop attacking you during the effect and you won’t be able to attack until you use a healing item to return some of your health and stop the reaper. This gives you an opportunity to use a healing item from your Hotbar before the reaper ends your life and sends you back to the last bed that you slept in. So now you will have a chance to choose whether or not to continue fighting in a situation or go ahead and die to be sent back to the last bed that you slept in. Note: Dying is different from the Doomed Status Effect which can only be cured by eating a Grim Biscuit Scenario and Event Spawning Overhaul In order to create a more varied and lively game world, we have completely overhauled our event and enemy spawning mechanics for the majority of the Tile Maps in the game. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/5f95a4a40191216f65823fde3263d64090fc2845.png The new system creates a much greater variety of enemy interactions more frequently resulting in much more action and more interesting situations for the player to take advantage of ... or run away from! It also paves the way for us to continuously update content in a way that’s easier for us to enrich the game world for the players and increase the likelihood of players seeing more content. Phantom Dark Vaults Nighttime Update {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/4bc17eb2b51c02ed35956d6dcd6e586d7563029f.jpg The Event Spawning Overhaul also extends to the night with the inclusion of Dark Vaults and Phantoms. During the night you may now encounter Dark Vaults: large gilded crypts sealed by golden chains. Attacking these vaults yields special Dark Vault materials that can be used to make very rare Dark Vault Weapons and Items. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/13353052730b65aad4889096a8e63f0b098eff17.jpg A Dark Vault is similar to a standard Treasure chest. Adventure Craft Wiki Data Spreadsheet This is the spreadsheet that we use to keep track of the data about various elements of the game as we are developing it, so it's full of useful info. We also have an Official Wiki for Adventure Craft on Gamepedia that we started a while back, for anyone who wants to migrate any of the data from the spreadsheet into their much more visually pleasing Wiki Site Format. In other news, Here are a couple images from the Spellbooks that I am currently working on {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/80dd5d4c0717f2f275f5a3dd7530f1e319f9631f.png New Magical items are on the way. Twitter: @iENDERi Small Hotfix and Happy New YearJan 10, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi Everyone, We are back to work on Adventure Craft for 2021! This is just a small update to fix a bug that was adding 10 Boost Damage to the main player character. The main character was meant to be doing 100 hit points of unarmed damage but due to the bug it was doing 1000 extra damage per hit on top of whatever weapon was being wielded. So during the holidays everyone had super human strength! This bug would have affected the game balance in a significant way so we apologize for any inconvenience that this caused. We are looking forward to continuing our work on Adventure Craft this year. We have many new features on the way and some nice surprises! Twitter: @iENDERiNew Content for the end of 2020! Epic Criticals for weapons The majority of weapons now have a chance to land an “Epic Critical” which is a double damage critical hit. Epic critical chance is typically half the chance of whatever the weapons current critical chance is set to. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/046fee8db11a87383d85bb16870ce10327037d15.jpg Wiki Data Spreadsheet The Spreadsheet that contains all the game’s recipes and other data is now available for public viewing. If you have any questions about the game or the new update please feel free to say hello on Twitter @iENDERiDevelopment Update 08/7/2020Aug 6, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHello Everyone, We want to apologize for the lack of information concerning the next update to Adventure Craft. A lot has happened since the last update which has slowed down the already incredibly slow development for this project, but believe it or not, I have indeed worked on the game nearly every day since the last update and there is a substantial amount of new free content still coming by the end of the year. Sorry for not posting regular information here on the Steam page. There have been some really lovely long-standing fans who have been with us from the beginning, many who had paid for the game, who deserve to know what's going on. Those early funds helped keep our heads above water and enabled us to keep the game alive during its initial development. So we apologize to all those folks and thank you for your support. The Future On the bright side of things, I have very recently had some changes in my circumstances that will hopefully facilitate more work being done on the project so that we can finally complete the game's core experience, move the game out of Early Access, and provide more consistent content and information updates. We plan on continuing to enrich the free core Adventure Craft experience until it is something that is worth paying for. Once we achieve this we will then start the process of making the optional paid high level DLC dungeons, the first of which will be free for all existing customers who paid for the game's initial development. The core game will still receive updates and remain free. What's coming in the next update? Here are some images with descriptions of a few of the things that I've been working on that will be in the 1.1 Adventure Craft update. We have spent time updating the artwork on the world to make it more beautiful and to add more visual interest and variety{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/37bb97b0c3706cc9bf333e9debe027f8a465bfbc.png Stone Clan {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/76fe8e25c9fd8f7b792531f0accdff0542288dbe.png There is a new faction of enemies in the world known as the Stone Clan. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/4967a42181923b139189b50d63fa0423188e76f9.png The Stone Clan is an order of Stone Clad Knights that wield powerful stone swords that can be upgraded up to 4 times. The Official Wiki Over the last few weeks, I have been working on establishing the Offical Wiki for Adventure Craft. An official wiki is something that I was initially planning on doing later, but after reading about a player's frustration with the lack of information about the game we decided to go ahead and get the ball rolling. I have never worked on setting up a Wiki before so there was a bit of a learning curve but I think I have the hang of it now. I have started by creating pages with information on the game's numerous items and recipes. From there I will be working on getting all the pages set up for the enemies and characters and so on and so forth. Next, I will add more specific articles detailing more of the games other systems like the scripting of your party members' behavior etc. I have been working on the Wiki full time over the last few weeks but now that it's got a fair amount of content I plan on reducing the overall time I spend on it and move focus back to finishing the game's beta branch so that it can be moved into the main game. The next update Update 1.055 is the next patch that we are working on. Here are the current patch notes on what's coming in this update, which will most likely drop within the next few weeks depending on life. I'll post the full notes when we deploy. Weapons Honey Greatsword Gameplay Add a boarman sniper spawning agent to the borders of the CBoar area Updated art on Brutal Thorn Punk Equipment Added Bear Suit Armor, each piece increases overall attack by one and adds an additional hear Misc Tweaks Updated artwork for Thorn Lord Updated items inside Inn Wardrobes Rainbow object left behind by fairey grenades now despawns after a period Thorny Tentacle monsters now have a 30% chance to drop thorny nuggets on death Updated activity in Thornbull pen tile maps Thornbull Pens now die after a period Added light to honey piles in bear caves Thorny Tentacles will now seek to destroy Badland trees Added loot to Thorn Lords Boarmen will now attempt to protect boarman totems Using pickaxes on boarmen totems now yeild more materials Bears now have a chance to haste when chasing the player If you would like the play the most current beta version.... So far the spreadsheet has complete data pages for Weapons, Food, Materials, and Devices. The next pages to be added to the data spreadsheet will be Equipment, Shields, Grenades, and Enemies If you would like to have a look at the Adventure Craft Wiki Data Spreadsheet you can view it here. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QBOFHFp7Lq2CmBnUZR_C3Ldah8X1Wq9dKi4Eh4NfVbc/edit#gid=1502054798 Note: The Wiki will reflect the most current build of the game which for now is the Beta Test Build. New Game Content Updated Thorn Forests {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/0f1fa219c6b166e38480723d2f8062fce51feeb2.png The Thorn Forests are some of the most dangerous areas in the game world. These tile maps are home to dense swarms of thorny tentacle monsters that can choke escape routes, giant bees that can transform enemies into weird honey mutants, thorn infected machete wielding psychopaths, and other weird plant based stuff that wants you dead. The Thorn Pen saplings, deployed by Blooming Thornbulls, will now grow over time eventually becoming Thornbull pens, giant plant monsters that spawn HUGE swarms of tentacle monsters and Thorn Lords. Updated Thorn Lord minion spawning Thorn Lords can spawn up to 5 thornbutts simultaneously. Thornbutts are small thorny masses that will move towards their prey before suddenly ramming into them doing damage with a 25% chance to poison. When defeated thornbutts now darken indicating that they can no longer move. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/688f037d3d8417463b53e4e13fb495fe0c3cd3d4.png Bear Caves {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/aa18a3ec597b93f2f4e42807302bef23b0d0eab4.png Various biomes now have a chance to spawn a Bear cave. These small caves will spawn a few bears at the entrance during a certain time of the day and can also be freely entered to gather large amounts of honey from the stashes that the bears inside protect. These caves will also provide a way to farm the upcoming Bear Suit armor. Increased Standard Cave Activity Increased overall mob activity in the standard caves making them much more unpredictable to explore. Big game hunters with powerful rifles will hunt and fight with Boars and Boarman Snipers now appear in greater numbers with a higher fire rate and more health. New Enemy: Brutal Boarman {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/29325572/b4cf0009203be60dd64fae65cf7bc34700ec6b11.png The Brutal Boarman patrols the border tile maps of the Colossal Boar. Like the Brutal Punk, Brutal Boarmen wander around rallying nearby boarmen, as well as un-aggroed boars into a roving gang looking for a fight. They wield massive Stone Boar Clubs and their attack can smash a green eyed Friendly Boarman into the dirt killing them instantly. New Weapons Stone Boar Club Farm the Boarman Totems in the Colossal Boar Border to gather the materials needed to craft this powerful new Stone Club. We have been working on this for so long, so it's really good to get it into people's hands and we look forward to working with people on it. Finally! There is a huge amount that has been added and changed, and below you will see the major things listed. They only account for about a third of all the changes, but they are the most important ones from a player's perspective. All in all we hope that the changes make the game a more fun and rewarding experience. We have now deployed the 1.05 update to a Testing Branch so that players can have a chance to play it and test it for bugs before we deploy it into the main game. The patch will stay in testing between 1-2 weeks before it gets added to the main game. If you would like to try the 1.05 Update you simply right click on the Adventure Craft title in your games list and select properties. Then click on the BETAS tab and select the Adventure Craft Testing branch of the game. This will give you access to the testing version of the game without affecting your main game save. To switch back to the normal version just right click on the testing version in your game list and switch it back to NONE in the Beta tab with the drop down menu. Please keep in mind that the 1.05 update is very large and is still a work in progress. It contains many new features, items, and other content that has been internally tested but also contains many elements that are still incomplete or in need of tweaking. Please be sure to report any bugs, crashes or other weird things that you come across in the discussions section of the game's Steam page. We will be checking there daily to address anything that you find. Patch Notes Here's a list of the most significant changes that have been made since the last update. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Players will no longer lose their entire held inventory if they die a second time, instead the players inventory will simply drop where the player died and will stay there until retrieved. Towns The biggest part of this update is the Towns that you can now find in the world. Towns are composed of several tile maps each with a different theme or purpose. You will know that a town is near when you enter the White Knight controlled town border tiles, which are full of bright white stone walls and other White Knight structures. In the town center you will find an Inn where you can spend the night, as well as static item shops that sell both common and unique items. Additionally you will find a Farm, Graveyard, residential area that you can build your own structure on, a Ghetto or Slum area, as well a mysterious mansion. Fishing Ponds There are now several fishing ponds that will appear on the map where you can catch fish or get eaten by the giant fish that live there. Fishing tile maps are indicated...Adventure Craft is now FREE!Jul 10, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsWe are very happy to announce that Adventure Craft is now a Free game on Steam! From this stage forward Adventure Craft will be developed as a Complete Free Core Game, that offers fully optional Paid DLC. Thank you to our Paid Customers We would like to thank all of our initial Paid Customers for helping us get the game to this stage. Your monetary support as well as all of your player feedback has been invaluable to us in forming the game into what it is today. As a way of saying thank you, we are preparing a "Founders Pack DLC" that will be Free for all Paid Customers who bought the game before the price change went into effect. This first DLC will include a selection of Unique Items, and other awesome goodies that are exclusive to the pack. We will give more information about what the Founders Pack will contain over the coming weeks. Note: In the spirit of fairness, the Founders Pack will be made available for purchase for $14.99 USD (the original price of the game) for folks who would also like access to this cool extra stuff and who want to support the game's development. What's Next? The fabled 1.05 update Now that the game is Free, we must prepare the HUGE 1.05 update for release, which will add NPC towns, new recipes, items and Fishing, as well as significant gameplay updates. This update is already mostly complete, but we need to make sure that nothing in it breaks the game in an unexpected way before we release it, so we need to spend a bit more time working on it and then we will release it to a "testing branch" of the game for a week so that anyone who wants to test it can help us find any bugs that might come up. After that week we will move it into the main game. This update is a core game update so it will of course be a Free update for everyone. More details on how you can participate in the testing of the update if you would like to will come soon. A few personal words from the Game's Lead Designer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Adventure Craft has been an amazing journey for me since I initially thought of the concept for the game way back in 2012. As the game's development went though it's ups and downs, it was the many kind words of the people who were playing and enjoying the game that kept me working on it. I was always blown away when I read any of the many super positive things written about the game and it's potential, and spent many nights staying up late watching "Let's Plays". I am so grateful for everything that I have learned about game development and even more so for all the amazing and supportive people that I have met along the way. I won't mention names here but if you are reading this you know who you all are. Thank you. Update on Free to Play Price Change and MonetizationJul 4, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHi, Thanks so much to everyone who responded to our "Fate of Adventure Craft" announcement! I was very touched by all the kind words about our game. It felt really good to read that. We have been communicating with Valve about the change over the past couple of days and we have been approved for Free to Play! We have also been advised that we will indeed be able to reward our existing paid players which I am really excited about. They also advised us on our plan about setting up a subscription model which has informed us on how to move forward with monetization. Here's a rough overview of my plan moving forward. Obviously this is all subject to change, but this should give you a general idea of what's happening in the short term. ------------------------------------------------------------ Deploy Price change on July the 11th. From that point forward, the Core Game will now be offered PERMANENTLY for Free. All content updates to the Core Game will be free. Once the price change goes into effect we will... Finish configuring the 1.05 update and get it ready to deploy. Deploy 1.05 to the testing branch for one week. After the test week Deploy 1.05 to the main game package. Address any issues with 1.05. From this point we would like to release an update every 1-2 weeks to the core game. First to a testing branch for a week of testing, and then moved into the main public game. (You will be able to opt in and test the patch and provide feedback before it gets deployed to the main game if you would like to.) ........................... Monetization Rather than the subscription model... All updates to the core game will remain Free. New recipes, items, Tile Maps, monsters, gameplay refinements etc, will be continually added to the core game to foster its continued evolution. We will periodically release Paid DLC in the form of "End Game Dungeons/Item Packages", the first of which will be automatically Free for existing Paid Players. The End Game Dungeon DLC will be high level "non persistent" worlds that will mainly appeal to people who have put enough time into the base game to have a set of weapons/equipment/items capable of surviving them. (I'll tell you more about how we plan on doing the DLC's and our plans for how they affect the Core game for Free players and Vice Versa as we move forward). If you want insider info on this or have a question follow me on Twitter @iENDERi and I'll answer your questions.
