Big changes and closed betaJul 12, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, Purple here. It's been a long time since there's been an update, and I know many of you have been itching for an update. There's no better way to phrase this, so forgive me for being so blunt: Abalyte is going to enter closed beta. That means not everyone will be able to play the game. People who request access and are granted access will still be able to play Abalyte. Expect the 2D version of Abalyte to be completely over-written by the 3D one around November. That means the current copy of Abalyte, the 2D one, will still be available to play for the next four months. Abalyte is going through changes, it could be for the worse, but it's most likely for the better. Here are some of my plans for the changes: Port Abalyte's entire system from Gamemaker 2 to Unity Change the gameplay from 2D-platformer to Third person RPG Change the game from 2D pixel art to 3D low-poly art style Develop the game with multiplayer already in-place Abalyte will still be an RPG, a rogue-like, and a fantasy dungeon crawler. I hope that many of you will continue to play Abalyte when you receive your respective copy. Personal Thoughts: It definitely feels like a waste for me to throw away nearly three years of work on Game Maker, but after investigating Unity for a while, I found it to be the more suitable game development tool for me. I've also been contemplating whether a 2D-platformer was really the way to go for an RPG dungeon crawler, and I decided that I only made it 2D for the sake of nostalgia regarding Maple Story. However, in order to achieve the true "feel" that I believe Abalyte should have, I think both the port to Unity and the change to 3D is needed. It also means that there won't be a playable game for a period of time, but using Unity, I'm sure that Abalyte will bounce back in a few months. For me, this is the sad ending of 2D Abalyte, and the hopeful beginning of 3D Abalyte. Perhaps in the future I'll put in 2D Abalyte as a fun mini game or easter egg.Looking for team members / helpers!Feb 24, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHey guys, Purple here yet again. Now that I've got a lot of the fundamentals and systems laid out, I'm going to start looking to create more content. The content could come by a lot faster with a few team members and helpers, so now I'm looking out for some team members! Payment, if necessary, can be settled and will come when Abalyte becomes a fully fledged game with a price tag.Build 08 Patch Notes - MAJOR UPDATEFeb 2, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHere it is everyone! The major update that's going to forge a path for even more updates in the future! Additions: - Portals - Levers - New room based gameplay system (This is a big change, one sentence doesn't do enough credit for the system) - Equipping weapons now utilizes the E and Q buttons instead of the menu - New tutorial room - New options room - New save system - Additional dialogue from the final boss - New forest theme from Audio Insurgency, a music producing group! Let's hope they'll be with us for a long way! - You can now find the shopkeeper sitting in his little stall on the right side of the hub. He doesn't sell anything, but he gives some pretty good yet generic advice. Changes: - Removed Main menu - Fixed monitor flickering white when changing from level to level - Dash now no longer gives invulnerability frames (unreliably) - Dash speed boost from 3 to 4.5 - Spawns have a chance to drop a chest (Farming for an optimal setup is now encouraged) Notes: More content coming very soon and fast.Build 07 Patch NotesNov 4, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsFor convenience's sake, I'm going to start calling them builds instead of 0.X.X- and there have been six builds prior to this one Additions: -Blood Bow -Blood Hammer -Blood Knife -Knife animation when stabbing an enemy -Knife passive: Slices the enemies when you dash through them -Spear: Very strong on the tip, very weak on the shaft Changes: -Fixed getting blood orbs when using a normal weapon and holding a blood weapon -Arrows fired by bows are now affected by gravity after a certain range! -Arrows that collide with walls stay Notes: Due to some situations, the shield weapon and two spells were unable to be finished before the end of the weekend. The 0.1 series has been a great time for me to knock out bugs and problems in Abalyte! Changes: -Discord link is now the never-ending discord link -Options menu allows for windowed mode and full screen mode -Attacking keys are now also bounded to left,down, and right keys -Changes to weapon cooldowns! -Knife cooldown: 25 - > 15 milliseconds -Hammer cooldown: 100 -> 50 milliseconds -Sword cooldown: 75 -> 45 milliseconds -No bow changes (Sorry bow users!) -Slingshot cooldown: 75 milliseconds -> 45 milliseconds Notes: 0.2 series will focus on weapons and grand artifacts! Thank you for your patience! This hotfix fixes two bugs that result in softlocks: -Fixed bug where enemies would be knocked out of the stage -Fixed (very prevalent) bug of slimes teleporting/ disappearing Additional additions: -Changed portal to show behind all enemies -Added E key to the controls in the main lobby -Until the tutorial and options button have actual functions, they will be marked with a big red 'X' to show clarification Patch 0.1.2 - 2018/10/16Oct 16, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsThis patch is more of a hotfix than a true patch- but still brings new content! -New level layout with 3 sets of levels -Each set of levels consists of one mob-infested level and is followed by a boss room -In order to progress to the next level, you must clear mobs until you are presented with the power crystal, which has a 1/20 chance to drop from mobs, or dropped when you kill the last mob in the level. -Removed outdated tutorial, control layout included in the main lobby! -Implemented the placement of artifacts, which currently have no function. In the next update, these artifacts will be used to give the player a choice after the player defeats the boss: for each artifact you have, you have one additional choice to choose a grand/legendary item, which each have different and unique effects.
