A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, developed by Stormind Games, successfully conveys the atmospheric dread and central themes of the films. It grapples with pacing issues and occasional gameplay frustrations that ultimately affect its overall impact. Set in the same universe as the films roughly three to four months after Day One takes place, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead immerses players in a post-apocalyptic world where sound attracts deadly creatures. The narrative follows Alex, an asthmatic and pregnant woman, after her boyfriend dies. It’s a real shame that there isn’t a ton of character growth or even change when it comes to Alex’s life. Her asthmatic condition primarily serves as a plot device to heighten the stakes surrounding sound rather than contributing to her growth as a character. The story doesn’t stray far from familiar... Thank you all for diving into the game and sharing your experiences with us! We’re excited to share that a new patch is now live, bringing both PC and console players up to the same version with all the same fixes. This patch addresses several key issues based on your feedback and we’re continuing to monitor all reports through our support site to make the game even better. Visual & Art Fixes Fixed an issue where the lights were turning off even when standing near a barrel at the beginning of the Fire Station. Fixed an issue where the right-side bridge would shrink at the beginning of the level sequence in the Fire Station. Fixed an issue where some visual artifacts were appearing in a puddle in the garage of the Hospital. Fixed an issue where Martin was not stopping in the room with the candles at the Ranch. Fixed an issue where the fire was clipping through the van in the tunnel during the Chase sequence. Fixed an issue where the lamp would disappear from the garden in the Forest. Fixed an issue where Alex's hand would appear floating in the air when climbing down the obstacle near the waterfalls in Trainwreck. Improved look of the train cars in the broken rail area of the Trainwreck level. Fix an issue where there were floating foliage, floating bridge grates, and compenetrating electrical wires at the Trainwreck. Fixed an issue where some leaves in the Lake level were not properly placed on the ground. Touched up the asset model for the air vent grates. Fixed an issue where the sprites had inconsistent animations in the game credits. General Fixes Fixed an issue where subtitles would re-enable during the ending sequence in the Prologue. Fixed an issue where the "Lighting" achievement was not being granted regardless of when Alex reached the chapel at the Hospital. If you have done this previously it should be awarded to you automatically. It’s been incredible watching the reception of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead over the past 24 hours. Thank you so much for playing! We have prepared a hotfix to address some of the issues and feedback we have received so far and continue to evaluate everything that is being sent to our support team. This is rolling out on Steam now, with the bottom two headed to consoles at a later date. Resolved Issues Fixed an issue related to Steam players suffering from a performance drop down to 22 FPS. Fixed an issue where players could acquire an extra key in their inventory in the Campsite level. Quality of Life Added a toggle option in the settings menu called “Chromatic Aberration.” The default is set to off. Aspect Ratio If you are trying to set an aspect ratio that is different from the monitor you are using, like trying to run the game at 1920x1080 on an ultrawide for example, then you will be unable to see settings for this. This is a stylistic feature of the game to ensure that the gameplay experience is consistent for all players, especially when in “Theatrical Mode.” Yellow Paint We’ve seen some players comment that they would prefer to play without the aid of yellow paint hints. Good news! This feature can be disabled by selecting the settings menu > Gameplay > Interface > “Remove Yellow Paints.” PC Recommended Requirements We have created an infographic (below) to outline what your expected settings and performance should be for your set-up. Please take a look if you have been experiencing any performance issues, as adjusting your settings per this chart may help to resolve this issue. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45063969/efb4c71a775cd58e3931d2a5dc4cc9eaae8e00ad.jpg We love watching your gameplay clips!
