The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Facing outrageous haircut prices, Dragon's Dogma 2 players are farming cash by helping pawns become WitchersMar 26, 2024 - VG247Dragon's Dogma 2 can sometimes be a bit like real life - sometimes everyone has the plague, and you never quite have enough money. Unsurprisingly, folks who’re keen not to have to save up their gold every time they want to try out a new hairstyle are already finding ways to quickly earn a fortune. Weirdly, it feels like a lot of the chatter around DD2 since it came out has been linked to finances in some way. I’m mainly talking about the furore surrounding those controversial microtransactions, which was arguably a bit overblown, given that a lot of the stuff affected can be found in decent quantities just by playing the game and modders have quickly stepped up to provide alternatives. Now, however, some players have found a way to use the game’s pawn system a bit like an investment scheme, and apparently it’s pretty lucrative, provided you don’t mind teaching a few hapless helpers how to slay monsters like a Witcher. Yep, someone call Gerry from the Riviera, DD2’s pawn babysitters are coming for his job, and they don’t need any mutations, unless you count Dragonsplague as one. Titled Sirens of The Deep, Doug Cockle will reprise the role of Geralt from The Witcher series video games. A couple of stars from the live-action show will also lend their voices to the film: Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey, who star as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier, respectively. Christina Wren will voice a new character named Essi Daven. “I am super excited to announce my return to the world of The Witcher voicing Geralt of Rivia once again,” Cockle told Netflix. “I’m thrilled to be able to share this next chapter of the White Wolf’s journey with fans of the Witcher universe. CD Projekt wants it to put the games on a Witcher-esque trajectoryNov 1, 2023 - VG247CD Projekt is aiming to try and mirror the incredible transformation seen across its Witcher games with its follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. This is according to CD Projekt Red narrative director Igor Sarzyński, who told PC Gamer that, when it comes to working on Cyberpunk’s sequel, the studio’s collective aim is to emulate the kind of progression that’s visible across the fantasy series that put it on the map. “Consider The Witcher games and how much they changed with each instalment,” said Sarzyński, “We want a similar evolution here.” The developer went on to explain that as CDPR’s first attempt at realising the vision of a new IP — with fresh elements in terms of gameplay, writing and art that marked a bit of a departure from what it had previously pulled off in other titles — the first Cyberpunk game was always going to serve as a bit of a proving ground. Read more The Witcher social media throws Liam Hemsworth under the busJul 5, 2023 - VG247Netflix's season 3 of The Witcher is pushing hard on social media to get people to watch the hottest batch of new episodes. However, in doing so, it looks like new star Liam Hemsworth is taking a back seat to Henry Cavill. Just one look at recent posts from the show's official Twitter account shows a collage of Cavill-centered real-world marketing. These ads, light shows that display Witcher promotion on the side of famous landmarks, point out that Henry Cavill is still featured in the latest season. "Yes, he's still Geralt in season 3," is literally up in lights across the world. This says a lot about the current peculiar place the show has found itself in. Henry Cavill is beloved, and in the role of Geralt, he faithfully brought the character to life and garnered silver screen popularity over the past few years. It's no leap to say that he, alongside co-stars Anya Chalotra, Fraya Allen, and Joey Batey, became core to the appeal of the show. Read more The Witcher Season 3 has a brand-new trailerJun 8, 2023 - VG247Fans of The Witcher’s Netflix adaptation can eat their hearts out this evening, as a new trailer for the upcoming third season of the show has just been revealed at Summer Game Fest. We’ve already seen a brief teaser trailer for the show’s third season, which also gave us the release date. Fans can expect to catch volume one of The Witcher season three on June 29, with volume two of the season dropping on July 27. We’ve only a few weeks to go, so it’s about time we finally got to see a little more of Geralt and his companions. It’s also during the third season in which fans will be finally bidding farewell to Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, and instead welcoming in a fresh new face; Liam Hemsworth. This is to the dismay of many, including myself, but we can only hope that Hemsworth gives the role his all and does Geralt justice. According to the company, combined, the three titles have sold over 75 million copies worldwide. Speaking in a financial call to investors (Eurogamer), the company said now that the upcoming title has a "new framework" in place, development has again commenced. Back in March, CDPR said in a regulatory announcement, Project Sirius was in the process of being retooled after evaluating the scope and commercial potential of the original concept. Apparently, the island White Wolf’s Haven was currently in the midst of festivities when things were interrupted by a mystical vortex. Read more The Witcher Remake will be open-world, according to CDPR reportNov 29, 2022 - VG247CD Projekt Red recently revealed that the much-anticipated The Witcher Remake will be an open-world game as per its financial reports for Q3, 2022. As per the report, CDPR states that The Witcher Remake is a “story-driven, single player open-world RPG - a modern reimagining of 2007’s The Witcher.” This is a slight update on what we first learnt when The Witcher Remake was announced. Back in early October, CDPR happened to unveil a whole host of projects that it intends to work on over the coming years. The Witcher Remake was one of them, alongside a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, a free next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a whole new Witcher game, and an entirely new IP. Read more Netflix's The Witcher series says goodbye to Henry Cavill, with Geralt recast for season fourOct 30, 2022 - VG247To the befuddlement of many, Henry Cavill is no longer playing Geralt in Netflix's Witcher series, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role. The good news (depending on how strongly you feel about this recasting) is that the show will return for a fourth season, though Cavill won't be coming back for it. Netflix announced yesterday (October 29) that the other Hemsworth would be taking over the role, for reasons that aren't exactly clear, though might have something to do with the actor officially coming back as Superman. "My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4," Cavill said in a statement. "As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men." Read more CD Projekt Red unveil codename "Canis Majoris" as The Witcher RemakeOct 26, 2022 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunTo coincide with the game’s 15th anniversary today, CD Projekt Red have announced that The Witcher Remake is currently in the early stages of development. The “full-fledged” remake of 2007’s RPG is being developed from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 and will use the same toolsets that CDPR is creating for their upcoming Witcher trilogy. The studio call the project a “modern reimagining” and say they’re “updating the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it.” Read more The Witcher is getting a full remake in Unreal Engine 5Oct 26, 2022 - VG247The Witcher is being remade in Unreal Engine 5, as had just been revealed by CD Projekt Red on the 15th annivversary of the original game's release. Currently in the early stages of development, the game is being created for the most part by Fool's Theory, a Polish development studio that has worked on a variety of titles such as Divinity Original Sin 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 as support. The game is being created from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5 in alignment with how the next Witcher trilogy will be developed. As such, you can likely expect this remake to look and feel very much like the future of the IP as a whole. In terms of other info, there's scarce amounts to go on other than the work-in-process logo you've already seen above. The Witcher is king of the clunkers when it comes to the series, and isn't very easy to go back to after all these years. This has meant that a big portion of the Witcher narrative has been unexperienced for many, making this remake more warranted than others we've seen in recent months. It’s still early and we want to ensure that the game is created with the utmost care and attention to detail, therefore, while we’re excited to share the news with you, we want to ask you for patience as it will be a while until we start talking about this project in detail. “The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD PROJEKT RED. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD PROJEKT RED. “Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of the people there have been previously involved in The Witcher games. They know the source material well, they know how much gamers have been looking forward to seeing the remake happen, and they know how to make incredible and ambitious games. And although it will take some time before we’re ready to share more about and from the game, I know it’ll be worth the wait.”CD Projekt announces Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and multiple Witcher projects in the worksOct 4, 2022 - VG247CD Projekt announced today in a strategy update for investors that it has a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 in the works along with three Witcher projects and one new IP. This new story, which follows mage Alzur and their companion Lily as they seek out a powerful weapon to end the monster threat once and for all, is purchasable for £7.49.
