Update 7 Patch NotesDec 8, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsUpdate 7 is currently rolling out on all platforms. Here are the patch notes: NEW ONLINE LEAGUE FEATURES: Online presence indicates who is currently online in each of your Online Leagues. Ability to directly challenge an online opponent in any of your leagues. This sends a notification to the opponent who can then accept or decline the challenge. Ability to make your Online League public. The new Public League browser allows anyone to find open, active leagues to join. Filters allow you to find leagues that use specific settings of your choosing. Two new settings that allow you to set a maximum number of players for the league, and to ignore the results of games that end due to a player disconnection. IMPROVEMENTS: Significant changes have been made to AI batting at all Ego levels and ball-strike counts, particularly to reduce AI batters' plate discipline and reduce the likelihood of AI batters making contact on pitches out of the strike zone. The batting contact simulation has been updated. In particular, foul tips are produced in some scenarios that previously resulted in weakly hit fair balls. Tweaked reticle and pitching minigame UI overlays to be more indicative of ball/strike calls. The pitch bend arrows have been adjusted so that the furthest arrow lands directly at the intended pitch target. Jump input will now be ignored when fielding a ground ball or a line drive that can be caught without jumping, and where a jump is likely to result in a failed catch. In Franchise, Season, and Elimination modes, when a playoff series ends early, player Fitness and pitcher stamina now recover an amount relative to the number of games that were not necessary in the series. In Franchise, Season, and Elimination modes, CPU teams better optimize their pitching rotation between games and playoff series. In Franchise mode, CPU teams are now even less eager to overpay for a player via sign and release without a probable or guaranteed playoff spot. In Franchise mode, new trading card poses are generated for all players at the start of the offseason. The championship win cinematic now plays when you win an Elimination tournament. The stadium announcer now announces the new batter even when the new batter cinematic is quickly skipped. AI baserunner aggression has been updated. They are now slightly more aggressive at advancing to 2B, advancing to 3B with 1 out, or scoring with 2 outs. In other cases, they are slightly more conservative. The AI's base stealing strategy has been updated to better judge when and when not to attempt to steal a base. AI baserunners now take a bit more time to react correctly after a ball is hit. AI fielders now take slightly better routes to the ball when playing at high Ego. AI outfielders are now less perfect at playing balls hit high enough off the outfield fence. The AI is now less likely to attempt a diving catch with the pitcher on softly hit balls. AI batters no longer attempt to bunt for a base hit with 2 strikes (but may sti...Free Weekend for Super Mega Baseball 3Oct 7, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsThe full version of Super Mega Baseball 3 is free-to-play this weekend! Here are the patch notes: MAJOR ADDITIONS: Player Career Stats and Historical Season Data in Franchise Mode: New Player Career screen shows a player's season stats from the 10 most recent seasons, and career stats accumulated from the player's entire career (starting from the current season at the time this update is installed). View past season and all-time league leaders in home runs, RBIs, strikeouts, and more accumulated throughout the Franchise playthrough. View season standings and playoff brackets from the 10 most recent seasons. Practice Mode: Play an endless game where you choose to either always bat or always pitch. Pitchers do not tire, and players' Mojo and Fitness do not change during the game. Great way to prepare before being matched up in a Pennant Race or Online League game. IMPROVEMENTS: AI batters are now slightly more affected by the pitcher's velocity and junk skills, and slightly less affected by the power pitch score and pitch location. AI batters are now more prone to being tricked by the break on the pitch, particularly when pitching at low Ego levels. The pitching reticle minigame is now more difficult, particularly at high pitching Ego levels. Following a fielder selection change, the player now has more time to react and control the newly selected fielder before the fielder slows down, particularly at high Ego levels. When a fielder misses a catch with the "!" above their head, there is now text underneath the character explaining the primary reason the catch was missed along with the odds that the catch was missed. Before the pitch is started, you can now queue runners to take off with the pitch delivery by holding R1 while giving steal commands. Using this feature, runners will get a bad jump but will still return safely on a pick-off attempt. Best used on hit & run attempts and full count, 2 out situations. With runners on 1B and 2B, you can now steal with only the runner at 2B by pressing L2. Passed ball and wild pitch rates have been adjusted, particularly to greatly reduce the odds of a missed catch on pitches in or near the strikezone, and on pitches where the reticle minigame ends up fairly close to the intended target. Fielding error odds have been tweaked slightly, particularly to reduce errors on balls that bounce in front of or near the fielder. Fielders with low Fielding skill now miss slightly more jumping, diving, and sliding catches. Ball deflection velocities following a missed catch have been tweaked. Pitchers now see slightly more comebackers get through them when the ball is hit hard enough. The pitcher is now more likely to drop a throw while running to tend a base, while other fielders are slightly less likely to drop a throw while running to tend a base. The pitcher can no longer receive a Mojo boost following a successful sacrifice bunt or sacrifice fly by the opponent. AI baserunners are now slightly more willing to attempt a straight steal of 2B, and slightly less aggress...Update 6 has been submitted to certification! And did we mention PRACTICE MODE?!Mar 8, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsUpdate 6 has officially been submitted to platform certification! We know you have been eagerly awaiting this update, so we’d love to share more info with you while you wait just a tiny bit longer to fire up those Franchises and play. The certification process is out of our hands so we don’t have an ETA for you, but we hope Update 6 will be in your hands very soon. CAREER STATS: View past season and all-time league leaders in home runs, RBIs, strikeouts, and more, accumulated throughout the Franchise playthrough. Go back and view standings and playoff brackets from previous seasons. IMPROVEMENTS: We’ve heard concerns about fielding error odds, so we’ve made some small tweaks and added feedback as to why the fielder dropped the ball and how likely they were to do so. We’re also tweaking retirement odds so players under 30 are far less likely to retire, and players 40+ are more likely to retire. There are other balance changes in areas including AI batting, pitching mini-game difficulty, fielder selection, passed ball and wild pitch rates and the CPU’s Sign & Release decisions in Franchise mode. PRACTICE MODE: Surprise! Play an endless game where you choose to either always bat or always pitch. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37119090/c7d39e869b055a1e3299662c6f00bd0796b81c84.png These are just some key points about the three major components of Update 6 – it’s not an exhaustive list. When the update is pushed out, we’ll post the full patch notes as usual. We’re also working on a post that will share more about Career Stats before the update goes live – so you’ll be hearing from us again soon!Career Stats are almost ready!Feb 22, 2021 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37119090/b3e48c92a2171a6795ba42bfc277350c43883efa.png Career Stats are now in the final stages of internal testing! Once our testing is complete, they’ll be submitted to platform certification as a part of Update 6. The update also includes some other changes and improvements - for example, players in Franchise mode will resign based on how long they’ve been with your team rather than their age. Hang tight for more details - we’ll be sharing more about Career Stats and the rest of the update once it’s been submitted for certification! Hotfix 5A Patch NoteDec 18, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsA hotfix is currently rolling out. Here is the patch note: Issue addressed: Fixed: Frame drops / framerate stuttering occurring on some hardware configs (even if above recommended spec) Update 5 Patch NotesDec 1, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsUpdate 5 is currently rolling out on Steam. Here are the patch notes: ONLINE LEAGUES UPDATES: New settings are now available to both new and existing leagues: - Stadiums: choose to use the home team's home park, or random stadiums each game. - Mojo and Fitness: choose to have Mojo and Fitness carry over from game to game, or reset each game. - Starting pitchers: choose to give users full control over their starting pitchers, use random starters each game, or rotate through the rotation. - Pitcher stamina: choose to have pitcher stamina carry over from game to game, or reset each game. The Auto Ego option is now available for leagues that allow demo/trial players. IMPROVEMENTS: Logo editor customizations can now use up to 32 layers (up from 16). Human-controlled fielders now only wave their hands when tracking a catchable pop fly if the fielder is guaranteed to arrive in time for the catch should the stick be immediately released. Reach tag attempts are now interrupted when pressing a throw-to-base button, allowing a throw to start before the reach tag animation ends. Batters no longer lose Mojo after a successful sacrifice bunt or sacrifice fly. Catcher throws on steal attempts now have reduced speed, particularly for low throwing minigame scores and catchers with low Arm skill, making it easier to steal bases against catchers with weak arms. It is now harder to steal 2B or 3B after the pitcher steps off or performs a pick-off attempt. Baserunners now tire a bit more quickly when changing directions on the basepaths, making it a bit harder to survive a rundown. AI baserunners are now more likely to get picked off when preparing to steal a base. AI baserunners are now less likely to attempt a steal as the defense attempts more pick-offs in the inning. The pitcher will now fail to catch, block, or deflect comebackers that are hit well enough, though pitchers with high Fielding skill are more likely to get a glove on the ball. The ball's change in speed and direction following a missed catch is now less affected by the fielder's velocity. In Franchise, Season, and Elimination modes, players become or stay Juiced less frequently and more randomly. In Franchise, Season, and Elimination modes, players tire less when they see less time in the field, resulting in the DH recovering more Fitness than other players between games. A new "Corners In" infield defensive positioning option has been added. AI infield defensive positioning decisions have been updated. Umpires are now more accurate at calling reach tag outs applied by fielders. Auto fielder selection changes no longer occur for the rest of the play after the switch fielder button is pressed. AI-controlled pitchers now dive at slightly fewer hit balls. In Pennant Race, unlocking a higher quality award in the same category as one you have pinned automatically replaces the pinned award with the new one. In Pennant Race and Online Leagues that use the Auto Ego option, starting Ego values for new player...Update 4 Patch NotesSep 29, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsUpdate 4 is now live. Here are the patch notes: Major Additions: New Online Leagues game mode: - Play against friends on other platforms - Use custom teams (optional) - Uses matchmaking with customizable options and no fixed schedule - Statistics tracked throughout - Available in both the full game and in the demo/trial versions Completely revamped Watch Mode for spectating AI vs AI games - Watch the game and explore the details of the ballparks from dozens of new camera angles - Control the camera direction and zoom for an immersive spectator experience - Use new minimal HUD modes for a relaxed visual experience or for clean screenshots Improvements: The speed and direction of ball deflections off of missed catches by fielders has been tweaked so that the ball continues to travel more in its current direction, and less in the direction that the fielder is moving. Pitchers now drop even more comebackers. A pitch intended to be a pitchout will now register as a pitchout even if the pitcher's aim is slightly off. Further minor improvements to AI bullpen usage have been made. The suggested lineup algorithm / AI-generated lineups have been updated to reduce the likelihood that a big power hitter gets put in the lead-off spot while a more contact-type hitter ends up in the #3 spot. Home run horns have been revised. Pennant Race Ego assignments and Ratings have been adjusted, particularly to increase runs per game for players that were previously at Ego 80 and above. In Pennant Race, the Hub now shows what Ego you will be assigned in your next game. In Pennant Race, the standings can now be refreshed without leaving the Hub. In Pennant Race, the Game History screen now lists the Ego used by each player. In Pennant Race, the randomization algorithm used to pick the starting pitcher slot and the home team has been updated. Various other minor UI improvements and touch-ups have been made. Minor cinematic camera improvements have been made. Various audio improvements have been made, particularly with the sound of the umpires' voice. Issues Addressed: Fixed: In online play, base stealers are allowed to retreat too quickly after giving steal input or after the pitcher steps off, resulting in a "steal spamming" exploit. Fixed: In online play, pressing the swing button before the pitch delivery telegraphs to the batter whether a pitch is on its way, leading to a base stealing exploit. Fixed: Baserunners can be picked off on low throws in the dirt from the pitcher, even when no steal input is given. Fixed: AI outfielders sometimes throw behind runners when they should be throwing ahead of them. Fixed: In Pennant Race, a user can unintentionally be locked into the same team for the next race without being given an opportunity to pick a new team. Fixed: In Pennant Race, player stats can fail to record after a player forfeits the game. Fixed: A Franchise, Season, or Elimination playthrough can become inaccessible / crash the game on entry due to a corrupt mid-game...Update 4 coming Sept 29 with Online Leagues & Watch ModeSep 23, 2020 - Community Announcements=== TL;DR === Update 4 will release on all platforms on September 29th with: * New Online Leagues mode (formerly Custom Pennant Race) for organized, 1v1 cross-platform play against friends. * All new Watch Mode feature for a more immersive AI vs. AI experience. * Adjustments to Pennant Race Ego and Rating for better run-scoring rates, particularly for the highest-rated players. * Important bug fixes and improvements to both online and offline play. ============= We are excited to finally have a date in place for our next update! In terms of developer hours spent, Update 4 is the biggest update in Super Mega Baseball series history. It includes a new game mode, a new way to spectate AI vs. AI games, and a healthy set of bug fixes and improvements throughout the game. Check out our new reveal video for more details about Online Leagues and Watch Mode: Online Leagues By far the biggest new addition to the game is Online Leagues, the mode we formerly referred to as Custom Pennant Race. Online Leagues is a game changer for how we play SMB3 with friends and is available in both the demo/trial versions and the full game. For owners of the full game, you can form a league and invite up to 31 other people on any of the platforms to join you. Game length, season duration, DH rule, Ego, and more can be configured to create as casual or competitive of a league as you choose. Alternatively, you can create a league with default settings that allows demo or trial users to play in your Online League for free - this is a great way to finally convince those stubborn friends to give SMB3 a try! Watch Mode Another new feature coming in Update 4 is a completely revamped Watch Mode for spectating AI vs. AI games. Watch Mode allows you to control the camera direction and zoom while watching the game from dozens of new camera angles. This will give you a more immersive experience while you watch two CPU-controlled teams battle it out in those important season or franchise games. Pennant Race Ego & Rating Adjustments As for existing modes, Pennant Race is receiving some important updates as well. We have adjusted how your Ego is assigned in Pennant Race to improve run-scoring rates, particularly for our highest rated players. Many of you reported having a lot of difficulty scoring runs at the higher Ego levels, resulting in many long, scoreless extra-inning games. Our data confirms that runs could be very hard to come by, especially at Ego levels in the 80s or 90s. When Update 4 launches, expect to have your assigned Ego adjusted, which you can now see in Pennant Race Hub. It will now be much harder to ever reach Ego 90 or above. You will also notice that your Rating will have gone down due in part to this change. However, your relative ranking among the Pennant Race population will remain the same - if your Rating was higher than your friend's Rating before the update, then that will remain true after the update. In addition, your Ego may change more from game to game i...Update 3 Patch NotesJun 25, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsUpdate 3 is now live. Here are the patch notes: Improvements: Baserunners now delay for a small amount of time on swing contact with less than 2 outs, allowing more time to defend against line drive double plays and making it slightly easier to put runners out on ground balls in the infield. Passed ball rates have been revamped: - Passed ball rates have been reduced on pitches in and directly above the strike zone. - Passed ball / wild pitch rates have been increased on balls in the dirt or very far from the strike zone, particularly when the pitch location is far from the initial target. Further improvements have been made to base stealing in online play to shorten the window of time between when the pitcher starts the pitching minigame, and when the pitcher starts their stretch delivery animation. AI bullpen usage has been improved, particularly to have the AI be more willing to pull the current pitcher sooner rather than later. AI pick-off and pitchout rates are now reduced. AI baserunners are now more susceptible to being picked off. The Mojo penalty that pitchers receive for a failed pick-off attempt has been significantly reduced. D-Pad buttons can now be used to make throws in the field (useful after stepping off during an early steal attempt). In online play, chat can now be accessed during the post game. In online play, extra pitching time is no longer awarded following a pick-off attempt. It is now harder to steal 3B and home. It is now much harder to steal home on a double steal play (by first stealing with a runner at 1B and then sending the runner at 3B home after the catcher throws to 2B). It is now slightly harder to steal 2B when playing at a high baserunning Ego, and slightly easier to steal 2B when playing at a low baserunning Ego. It is now harder to successfully steal a base when starting a steal after the pitcher starts a step off or pick-off attempt. Infielders are now less likely to dig throws out of the dirt from the catcher during stolen base attempts. Pitchers now drop comebackers more frequently. A pitcher who is injured during play can now be replaced before facing the minimum 3 batters. AI batters now rely more heavily on the power swing mechanic, producing more swings & misses and less softly hit foul balls while also generating more power on balls put in play. AI batters' aggression is now more varied during a game, leading to the AI swinging more often in some at-bats than others. Bunting is now a bit easier, both for AI and human batters - a perfectly aligned reticle on the pitch location will now result in a slightly downward bunted ball rather than slightly upward. Fielder running dive distances have been adjusted to help prevent fielders from diving past a hit ball. AI is now less aggressive when it comes to making fielding substitutions when ahead late in a game. Batters are now less likely to be injured after being hit by a pitch, and are more likely to receive a significantly larger Mojo increase instead. Fi...Update 2D Patch NotesJun 5, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsAn update is currently rolling out. Reduced lead-off sizes in some situations with less than 2 outs to help prevent line drive double plays.
