Dragon Ball, Elden Ring publisher is putting $130 million into an "IP metaverse"Feb 8, 2022 - PCGamesNBandai Namco has unveiled plans to invest ¥15.0 billion - roughly $130 million - into creating an intellectual property metaverse, which certainly is a flashy array of corporate buzzwords. The project is a key part of the publisher's mid-term plan for the next three years and aims to accomplish three goals: connect with fans through intellectual properties, increase the value of those brands while doing so, and strengthen the company's position in various parts of the world as a result (thanks, VGC). Bandai Namco wants to develop a metaverse for each IP as a new framework intended for connecting fans. "In this IP metaverse, we are anticipating virtual spaces that will enable customers to enjoy a wide range of entertainment on an IP axis, as well as frameworks that leverage Bandai Namco's distinctive strengths to fuse physical products and venues with digital elements." Once these communities are established, the publisher hopes to build "deep, broad, multifaceted connections" that continue for the long haul. It's February 2022. You'll still be able to pick up physical copies of the console versions, obviously, but for PC players this is going to be your last chance ever to pick up the anime game or any of its additional content. Jump Force will be delisted from Steam and digital stores for PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch on February 7 at 5pm PST / 8pm EST, or February 8 at 1am GMT. That's less than 24 hours away as this post goes live, so if you're reading this and want to pick the game up, you'll want to head to Steam as quickly as you can. DLC will also be delisted at this time. If you buy it, you will continue to have access to the game and any DLC you've purchased after Jump Force is delisted. Today, Bandai Namco has announced that you'll no longer be able to purchase Jump Force digitally or get any of its DLC as of February 2022, and much of the game's online services will be shut down the following August. Across Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch, Jump Force will be delisted on February 7 at 5pm PST / 8pm EST, ot February 8 at 1am GMT. At the same time, all DLC characters will be delisted, including everyone from Seto Kaiba to Giorno Giovanna. You will still be able to play the game and use any DLC you've previously purchased even after it's all delisted. On August 24, online services will be shut down. You'll still be able to get into normal, non-ranked PvP battles, but according to the announcement, pretty much everything else is going: logging into the multiplayer lobby, online events, clan functions, viewing the Notice Board, viewing the leaderboards, accepting Rewards from the Reward Counter, in-game store, premium shop, and online ranked match options will all be removed. After dataminers got access to fully playable versions of upcoming DLC characters, Bandai Namco has confirmed that those roster members are indeed the next additions to the game - but one of them, at least, isn't finished yet. Yoruichi Shihoin from Bleach and Giorno Giovanna from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure were both added to the PC game files for Jump Force earlier this month. They weren't selectable without modification, but dataminers soon did the work to play as them. Both characters appeared to be basically finished, though some elements of Giorno in particular looked a bit weak, including his ultimate. "We would like to clarify that since DLC character 'Giorno Giovanna' is still under development, the final version of this character may differ from what was shared on social media platforms," Bandai Namco says in a tweet.
