Euro Truck Simulator 2

Nordic Horizons: KristiansundJul 5, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsOn the western coast of Norway, you will find the city of Kristiansund. Let's take a look at how our map designers are recreating this beautiful town for the upcoming Nordic Horizons map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2!The landscape of this city is really unique as it is situated on four different islands, which makes it stand out. While it is not one of the largest metropolitan hubs in Scandinavia, with over 24,000 citizens, it has a lot to offer and should not be missed.Let's start with a bit of trivia. Kristiansund isn't just a feast for the eyes - it's also a hotspot for food lovers. The city's history is deeply tied to the sea, particularly through the production of klippfisk - split, salted cod traditionally dried on coastal rocks. This iconic dish is so important to the region that it has its own museum and even an annual festival in Kristiansund. But the culinary delights don't stop there - the city also boasts some award-winning cheeses, including a blue cheese that's been crowned the best in the world! Now, back to what you can expect while hauling cargo through the area. As the city is located on an island, you can get there either from the west through the Atlanterhavstunnelen (Atlantic Ocean Tunnel), which is part of the Norwegian County Road 64, or from the south via the Omsundbrua (Omsund Bridge). When in Kristiansund, keep an eye out for the Kirkelandet Church, widely regarded as Norway's first truly modern church. Consecrated in 1964, it's often hailed as the country's most daring piece of church architecture. Naturally, our map and asset teams made sure to include this striking structure. The city is also full of colorful houses, typical of Scandinavian architecture.Regarding industries, there will be a number of depots that truckers can deliver cargo to or from, such as a car dealer, a warehouse, a waste transfer station, and the local airport, also faithfully recreated to represent its real-world counterpart. If you liked this preview, make sure to add this map expansion to your Steam Wishlist! Safe travels!Euro Truck Simulator 2: 1.55 Update ReleaseJul 3, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe are excited to share with you that the 1.55 Update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now released and available on Steam! Let's take a look at all the features you will encounter in this update.First of all, we would like to thank everyone in our #BestCommunityEver who took part in the Open Beta phase and helped us by reporting bugs on our forums. It really made it much easier for us to fine-tune the update and make it ready for the full release. Driving Academy - Truck Driving Proficiency This new Driving Academy module, called Truck Driving Proficiency, will introduce a set of much more challenging scenarios, which will test even the most skilled drivers to the limit. For this new module and set of scenarios, we will also introduce a new reward system. The most important thing is still to precisely complete a scenario by driving along the designated path and avoiding any collisions. Players will also be able to achieve up to 3 collectable stars in this module, which can be earned by meeting additional conditions such as only using the interior camera, limiting gear shifts between drive and reverse, or completing the scenario in the set time. To really test your skills, you won't find any pre-recorded video tutorials, and you will have to use all the knowledge we taught you in our first module of Driving Academy. We've also prepared new, exciting rewards that players can use on the same profile in the base game! As you may know, finishing the first module grants a blue traffic cone cabin accessory and a customizable Driving Academy truck paint job. Completing all Truck Driving Proficiency scenarios unlocks an orange traffic cone accessory, while earning 3 stars in every scenario adds a matching trailer paint job and a golden traffic cone, giving your truck and trailer the full Driving Academy look.Asynchronous LoadingWe have been hard at work implementing a major overhaul in the way our game loads and processes data, a new system we call Asynchronous Loading. This system is designed to improve the loading process by ensuring that the game and loading screens remain uninterrupted while assets are loaded in the background. The primary benefit here is the mitigation of stuttering, resulting in a smoother experience overall. We'd like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who shared their feedback during both the Experimental and Open Beta phases. Your input played a key role in helping us refine this system, and we're excited to share that Asynchronous Loading is now fully implemented with the release of the 1.55 update! FH Tuning Pack DLC UpdateThe FH Tuning Pack DLC will now be fully compatible with the Volvo FH Series 6 as well, so you'll be able to customize every Volvo FH truck with a wide range of tuning parts. But that's not all, as we are also improving several current components, introducing new customization options, along with paintable parts. You will be able to pick the front badge plate, rear fender top, front mask, and front grill...SCS On The Road: Volvo Experience Center VlogJun 27, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe're headed to the Home of Volvo! In our latest episode of our SCS On The Road series, we journey to Gothenburg, Sweden, to visit the impressive Volvo Experience Centre, and get hands-on with three iconic trucks from Volvo's modern lineup. Join Oscar, our Director of Global Partnerships, along with members of the SCS Vehicle and Sound Teams, as they set out from our offices in Prague, Czechia, to Sweden. There, they had the opportunity to get up close, and even behind the wheel, of the Volvo FH Electric, Volvo FH16 780, and Volvo FH I-Save, capturing everything from detailed photographic references to sound recordings for use in our projects. We hope this episode offers an engaging behind-the-scenes look at how our team works to faithfully recreate these mighty machines in-game. The team were also invited to explore the newly opened World of Volvo, a museum and experience space celebrating both Volvo Cars and Volvo Trucks. If you’d like a closer look at that visit, don’t miss our dedicated SCS On The Road: World of Volvo episode, which we released a little while ago. We’d like to thank our friends at Volvo for their warm hospitality and support during this visit. Be sure to check out the full video below, and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe if you've enjoyed our SCS On The Road series! Until next time, keep on truckin’!Scandinavia Refresh: AarhusJun 24, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsAs part of the Project Scandinavia Refresh for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we’re excited to introduce a brand-new addition to the map: the city of Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city! Our talented teams have been hard at work bringing this fresh location to life, and today we're happy to share a look at their progress. Known as the City of Smiles, Aarhus will be accessible to drivers travelling along the E45 motorway, with two major highway junctions leading into the city. Aarhus itself features a blend of modern infrastructure and thriving industry, making it a must-visit destination for truckers! One of the major landmarks in our recreation of Aarhus is Dokk1, a striking multi-purpose library and cultural hub located on the harborfront. It is the largest public library in Scandinavia and was named Public Library of the Year in 2016. Nearby, you’ll also spot the Havnearbejdernes Klub Århus, a historic waterfront building that once served as a social space for dock workers. An industry we couldn’t leave out is the Port of Aarhus, Denmark’s largest container port, responsible for handling more than 50% of the country’s container traffic. Consistently ranked among the most productive container terminals in Europe for crane moves per hour and overall berth efficiency, it plays a vital role in national logistics and supports a strong local economy. We're sure drivers will find plenty of job offers here! Surrounding the port are numerous industrial sites, large and small, including a chemical factory, which players will be able to deliver to and from. Be sure to brush up on your ADR skills before heading in! Our team has also included several cultural and architectural highlights to give the city a distinct identity. Drivers can come across sculptures such as “Historiske Spor” by Danish artist Jens Galschiøt, as well as two unique art murals that bring a splash of local character to the streets. While exploring, you might also catch glimpses of other distant landmarks such as the International Student Centre, Domen Aarhus, Aarhus City Hall (with its tower visible on the skyline), and even the spire of Aarhus Cathedral. In the heart of the city, players will also find the Aarhus Bus Station. This central hub has been carefully recreated with attention to detail and will eventually play a role in the recently announced 'Project Coaches' module. Whether you're delivering goods or preparing to transport passengers, Aarhus should have something for everyone! We’re happy to bring this much-requested addition to the Scandinavia DLC as part of the ongoing refresh project, and we look forward to sharing more from this development in the future. We always appreciate your support and feedback and until next time, keep on truckin’! Nordic Horizons: Road NetworkJun 20, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsThere's something uniquely captivating about the open roads of the north - the dramatic coastlines, winding mountain passes, and the quiet charm of remote towns. Today, we would like to show you some of the roads in development for the Nordic Horizons DLC, and where they will take you!The European route E6 begins in southern Sweden before crossing into Norway, where it becomes one of the country’s most important north–south highways. It runs the entire length of the Land of the Midnight Sun, all the way to North Cape, the northernmost point in Europe accessible by car.About halfway along the route, truckers will pass through the Nordlandsporten gate. Further north, the journey continues across the 300-meter-long Kåfjordbrua bridge. Running like a spine along the eastern coast of Sweden, the European route E4 stretches from the south all the way up to the city of Haparanda on the Finnish border. It's one of the country's most vital routes, passing through bustling cities, dense forests, and long stretches of open countryside.Drivers will also cross the beautifully recreated Högakustenbron, one of Sweden's longest suspension bridges, standing high above the Ångerman River, and the Sundsvall Bridge, curving across the water just outside the city center.Cutting through the heart of Finland from south to north, the European route E75 begins in the capital, Helsinki, and winds its way deep into the Arctic. It takes drivers through ever-changing landscapes - from the forested hills around Jyväskylä, known for its lakes and lively university town atmosphere, to the quiet, rugged beauty of Ivalo, above the Arctic Circle. We hope we got you excited to cruise along the Nordic Horizons' road network. If we did, make sure to add this map expansion to your Steam Wishlist! During our visit to SOLUTRANS last year (a major transport and logistics expo), our friends at Renault Trucks kindly invited us on a special tour of their Engine Plant, which we’re excited to share with you today! Join Nemiro, our PR & Marketing Manager, and Patrice Berger-Perrin from Renault Trucks' Corporate Communications team as we begin with a visit to their historic museum, located in one of the company’s oldest buildings, designed and constructed in 1916. The museum showcases the rich timeline of Renault, highlighting the vehicles and innovations that have shaped the brand for over a century. Following the museum visit, the tour continues into the heart of the production line, where we explore how Renault Truck engines (and others) are built, from the initial stages of assembly to the final quality checks. Along the way, Patrice shares valuable insights into the workforce, the assembly process, the structure of the production lines, and the technology used to create each and every engine. A big thank you to the Renault Trucks team for the warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to share this fascinating look into their operations and history with our #BestCommunityEver. That's because players have been asking for coaches in ETS2 for years, even going as far as to mod them in themselves instead of waiting. Now, SCS has finally confirmed that coaches are in development, and they're definitely a game changer. Read the rest of the story... Project Coaches is now officially in development, marking the start of a brand-new driving experience within Euro Truck Simulator 2. This new addition will offer players a whole new way to explore and work in the ETS2 world. Instead of hauling cargo, you’ll be stepping into the role of a coach driver. While we’re still early in the development process, many elements are still evolving behind the scenes. We've already begun laying the foundation, from creating several coach models with characteristic handling to developing a network of bus terminals across the map (which many of you have noticed for a long time now). We're even reworking some older coach station prefabs from the ground up to better fit this new gameplay. If you're interested in learning more about how this idea came to life and where it's headed, we highly recommend watching our latest vidcast, featuring Pavel, Nemiro, Dominik, and Jarda as they discuss the project in more detail. And don’t worry, our work on trucks, map expansions, and the core ETS2 content isn’t going anywhere. A dedicated team is handling Project Coaches, allowing our ongoing development plans for the game to continue at full speed. We’re really looking forward to showing you more as this project takes shape. It’s something we’ve wanted to explore for quite some time, and we hope it opens the door to new kinds of experiences within the ETS2 universe. While in the real world these are two distinct municipalities, in ETS2 they will appear together under the single in-game name of Tornio due to scale limitations. However, players can expect to see and experience defining elements from both sides of this shared region. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/1965e169fcacd4e04ae50f51da1044b70b5fa4ab.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/dc0dadab8a707d9f3305d087689b2e1e589d9525.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/20c3f15b3671aa2008df1687a02196fa9555cecf.jpg When travelling through these cities, you’ll be able to drive across a bridge that connects Finland and Sweden, which also offers views of the river and the town plaza. Not far from this bridge, players will also encounter a special landmark, appropriately named the “Engagement Rings”, a sculpture positioned on a small roundabout. This artwork symbolizes the unity between the two towns and stands as a tribute to their ongoing cooperation and shared identity. It is one of three small roundabouts in the area that we’ve recreated to reflect the local road network. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/e5acb8260c9956338dcea18effd9f16cdb6cac28.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/13687986991c66ebc53c03c26f608cc7736c29d5.jpg Looking for work? To the south, drivers can travel to a large industrial zone that includes a steelworks facility, a river port depot, and a wind farm! Across the border in the Haparanda-inspired part of town, players will find a large Ika depot to deliver to and from. So no matter which city you're in, there'll be no shortage of job contracts. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/1f41147c7d1a8e20da78bbea0d6011da80d21094.jpg Beyond the roads and depots, this part of the map also comes with a bit of charm and trivia. Tornio and Haparanda sit in different time zones, with Finland an hour ahead of Sweden. This has led to fun cultural quirks, such as people crossing the border on New Year’s Eve to celebrate midnight twice, once in Finland, then again an hour later in Sweden, just a short walk away. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/562f02122fb45ddfbbf99a2a4e2de60e4a874817.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4419325/301031a127c512c956c5a9b04877fd20018d9aae.jpg We hope you enjoyed this look at Tornio and Haparanda, an we look forward to you exploring them both for yourself in the future. Although it is a little early for that, as this project is still a work in progress, we are happy to show you a glimpse of the work our map designers have done so far. Today, we would like to share our work on the Port of Rotterdam! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/7d4a52d1a7d9b59f90b590811efc9b2fde0904fc.jpg The port is located in the second-largest city of the Netherlands, and from its beginnings as a fishing port in the 15th century, it turned into the biggest seaport in Europe! The area it covers is impressive in itself - over 40 kilometres long and 10 kilometres wide. The port accommodates around 130,000 river ships and approximately 30,000 oceangoing ships every year. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/f894fc1a52a0cbb894b40a4edf32e83c6d2f8d41.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/b76f8f619ef255dc32dab3554af900a9e3ac5373.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/4cae2b579a1c15cd38884863d1054c9924758e37.jpg In 2022, the port handled 467 million tons of freight. And this is where you come in, because you will be tasked with transporting it from there to all over Europe! Truckers will be able to drive to the container port, the refinery, and the general logistics area. And if you're transporting a load from Rotterdam to the UK or vice versa, you'll also find ferry services conveniently available right at the port. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/fa35117e0a17980945487e6dca9fa60fd8acedfb.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/33016591fff3048c36d05800744ce54cd1bcb19f.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/4964fe960da91d8034d1677d8a6d220dd13f6655.jpg The whole area will captivate you because of its unique infrastructure filled with lifting bridges, tunnels under canals, and a complex road network. Our map designers recreated some of its landmarks such as the Thomassentunnel, Calandbrug bridge, Harmsenbrug bridge, and the ferry terminal at Europort. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/2e7d2cf31ae3e93c0b363dfd9285fac462fd9208.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/f04ab65d56d6d5baac20b03892ddf2f31409e7e7.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/c64b976c850e9aa1b6ee1bc6a38919cee9aeab76.jpg "It's a really gigantic area, over 40 kilometres long. So we are hoping that we have managed to capture it sufficiently in our scale," says the lead of the Benelux Rework Project, Honza. We look forward to sharing more news about this project in the future, but please keep in mind it is still a work in progress, so we dare not give you even an estimate of when it may be released. Until then, be sure to keep up to date with the latest updates by following us on Twitter, Facebook, BlueSky, YouTube, and Instagram, and by subscribing to our newsletter! Until next time, we wish you safe travels. https://store.steampowered.com/app/227300/Euro_Truck_Simulator_2/Project Scandinavia Refresh: Road NetworkMay 9, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsEarlier this year, we announced our Scandinavia Refresh project for Euro Truck Simulator 2, aiming to bring major improvements to one of our earliest DLCs. Since then, we’ve shared a Meet the Team blog to introduce the workforce behind the project, but today, we’re excited to share with you a look at some of the road networks we’ve been working on! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/43a299e816c48b174aee476d5712cfa2e447c730.jpg Before we get into the details, please keep in mind that everything you see here is still very much a work in progress and are subject to change. That said, let’s have a closer look at some of the refreshed road networks, shall we? When the original Scandinavia DLC was first created, most of its junctions were built using the same prefabs, meaning that many of the intersections players drove through felt very similar. For the Refresh, we decided to take a much more detailed approach; all the old prefabs have been removed, and in their place, we’ve built custom-made junctions based on real-life layouts. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/5b13e3c95d6bf8e82ab31531737e630b2bfbfd32.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/4c9644363b3f0d27914889385d74eb6d1dbac86d.jpg A lot of this incredible work was led by our externist Maarten (known in the community as Mandelsoft), whose expertise and passion for road design made a big difference across the refreshed areas. First stop: Denmark! Our team has been hard at work refreshing the road network here. One major area of change is the E20 and E45 junction, which has been completely rebuilt. In reality, this junction, located near the city of Kolding, consists of three different junctions spread about 8 km apart. However, to better fit the scale of our map, our team has reimagined it as one large, triangular interchange. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/c6c7e84372d8ecfac874c2c27f5d621a200fe0ea.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/8564fa768e2524b54d77cac190e3fac1f02fe10c.jpg Moving north, drivers can travel on the impressive Nørresund junction near Aalborg, which has been recreated on an almost 1:1 scale! We’ve also included the gas station and truck stop, which is located along the E45 between Aalborg and Aarhus. Whilst we’re still working on in-game branding, we are sure this will become a popular stop for truckers. Over at the Germany-Denmark border, drivers will find a reworked border crossing that now includes proper border control setups, matching the details of their real life counterparts. We have also created two new inland routes, Road 16 and 26, which connect through the town of Viborg where you can find a new gas station too! Finally, the iconic Oddesund drawbridge has also been fully reworked, including a working bridge lift and detailed surrounding landscape. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/0981d02c007049d002ae3db50fa800a60c028bfe.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4036972/42d4a531188b71b24914b7dd6b0b193a9666bd62.jpg Next stop, Sweden! This region has also seen significant improvements, particularly around the city of Gothenburg. ...Nordic Horizons: AndenesMay 6, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsReady for a trip up north?
