As many of you know, we have spent the last year hard at work on our second unannounced title thanks to your support of our studio. However, we fell in love with the Steam Deck over the holidays and felt strongly that Dreamscaper is the perfect game for the device. Therefore, we are thrilled to announce that we have also been secretly revisiting Dreamscaper in order to improve the performance, usability and readability of our game specifically for the Steam Deck. That is correct: Dreamscaper is now officially a Verified Steam Deck game. We hope that you enjoy this new update and please let us know if you encounter any new issues related to these changes so that we can hotfix them ASAP. Love, Rob, Ian & PaulAutosave Race Condition Hotfix (1.1.6.0)Feb 4, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsIt was discovered that a session's save progress could be lost thanks to a race condition between our asynchronous level streaming and the new asynchronous autosaving. This issue has been resolved. Please let us know if you happen to encounter any additional issues! - Rob, Paul & IanEngine Upgrade & Optimizations (1.1.5.0)Jan 11, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHappy New Year everyone! As many of you know, as of 1.1 we now consider the current version of Dreamscaper as the final definitive experience, but we will continue to maintain stability and performance for our players. The primary purpose of this patch (and the bulk of the work) is to upgrade our version of Unreal Engine in order to make Dreamscaper even easier to maintain going forward. Additionally, we have made a few high-priority / low-risk fixes and improvements: Auto-saving has been made asynchronous. Players with slower hard drives should now experience less hitching throughout the game. Fixed an issue where Interactables could be triggered when menus (like fast travel) were dismissed, resulting in weird broken game states. Minor translation, graphical & collision fixes. However, the list of what we want to do is so long that it will take at least a couple of weeks to complete. Therefore we picked a few of the most popular QoL improvements, resolved all of the (known) crashes in our game, and bundled them together this week. QoL Improvements: By popular demand, players can now choose to opt out of the Discord prompt that appears when exiting the game. Saves are now backed up at the start of every floor so runs can now be salvaged in the event of a crash or hardware failure. While still not officially supported, ultrawide aspect ratios no longer cut the bottom or top of the play area in dreams. Crash Fixes: Fix for the crashes that could occur on the 6th floor when traveling between rooms. Fix for the crash that can occur between floors when swapping Influences. Fix for the crashes that were occurring in the 3rd boss fight. Bug Fixes: Fixed soft-locks and other weird issues caused by bosses and players dying within moments of each other. Fixed out-of-bound enemies spawning in the 6th floor. Hopefully this will tide you over until our larger QoL update that should arrive in the next couple of weeks. Of course if new critical issues or regressions arise, we will continue to release smaller hotfixes to keep everything stable. Thank you everyone for your input and keen eyes! Cheers, Rob, Ian & Paul1.0 Stability Patch #1 (1.0.3.3)Aug 9, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsWhat an exciting few days! Cheers, Rob, Ian & PaulBeautiful, surreal roguelike Dreamscaper has left Early AccessAug 6, 2021 - PCGamesNDreamscaper might have hit on the best use of roguelike game mechanics in recent memory by having them replicate the unpredictable, and at times incoherent, layouts of dreams. After a year in Early Access on Steam, Dreamscaper has now launched on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. As we noted back when it was first announced, in Dreamscaper you play as a young woman named Cassidy, and you'll split your time between the waking world and your disturbing dreams. The latter comprise a series of procedurally generated 'dungeons,' formed from Cassidy's own experiences and the places she remembers visiting throughout her life. You'll have to battle monsters and bosses, find keys and bombs to open blocked passages, solve puzzles, and pick up new gear and skills to use, and runs end when Cassidy's health reaches zero. Rather than dying, she wakes up with a start back in her bedroom. From here, she'll venture out into the waking world, where her conversations with the people she encounters and the relationships she builds with them will give her increased strength to confront her nightmares when she goes back to sleep.
