Update 1.4: New Playable Character, Custom Outfits & More!Jun 6, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsAfter a successful Public Beta Test we are now ready to roll out Update 1.4 for DEVOUR. It brings you new playable character April, as well as 3 new custom outfits. New Character: April Join us in a huge welcome to April, our latest character in the growing DEVOUR squad. Please read below for more details on all of the changes. Batteries DEVOUR was designed to be a difficult game; due to the condensed length of each playthrough, we felt it was important to offer a challenging experience to players. However, now that DEVOUR has grown in popularity, we are noticing that the game can be a little too punishing for some players at times. Especially in Nightmare mode! With that, we're releasing the new Batteries item as an optional game mechanic. Batteries can be used to instantly recharge your UV flashlight, as well as giving you a bonus amount of charge across all the difficulty modes. Check below the specifics. Batteries will only spawn on the map if enabled by the host. You can pick up and drop Batteries just like any other item. To consume a Battery, press the R key. Once consumed, the UV is fully recharged, with a bonus amount of charge. (Normal: 160%, Hard: 100%, Nightmare: 60%) Bonus UV flashlight charge is indicated with an orange colour and does not regenerate. Batteries will respawn on the map after being consumed. There are a maximum number of batteries available in the game world at one time, including those held in players' hands but not yet consumed. (Normal: 4, Hard: 3, Nightmare: 2). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37243634/d73c4332183c40a4468804c330dea0712f2ef07a.png Revive improvements If you've played DEVOUR, you've probably experienced a slighty janky behaviour when reviving. With this update, we completely reworked the revive logic to iron out some of these bugs. What's next? We know that most of you are interested to find out when DEVOUR's next map will release. Our aim is to release it before Halloween 2021. It will be our most ambitious map yet, and we will definitely share more details with you in the near future! As always, please keep in mind that we are a small team and creating new maps takes a huge amount of work. We're also working on some other features which we want to release in the coming weeks. These include: New playable cult member 'April'. New character outfits (separate purchase) Farmhouse full audio redesign 1.3.0 Changelog Added Dutch and Indonesian language settings. Added Credits to the main menu. Added a new Mute Jump Scares audio setting. Fix for voice chat sometimes not working in lobbies. Displays a status message in the chat section when another player picks up a key. Fix for a hole in the world under the stairs near the Asylum fireplace. AI now correctly paths on the Asylum ritual area platform. Fixed a couple of spots on the Asylum map where Molly could not reach players. Molly no longer renders red eyes constantly in Nightmare mode. Improvements made to both Farmhouse and Asylum environments to prevent being pushed through some walls when player collisions is turned on. Within the disturbing rat-infested halls of a barbaric, hidden asylum you'll experience the electrifying thrill of being hunted by the demonically possessed fan-favourite Molly Jackson, as well as scores of deranged inmates. Our top priority in creating The Asylum was to get exciting new content to you as soon as possible. We decided not to change too many gameplay mechanics in comparison to our first map, The Farmhouse. However, The Asylum has a drastically different visual style, greatly increased graphics quality (including motion captured animations!) and it also includes a new creepy and immersive audio experience thanks to our new regular team member Steve Brooks. New Character: Kai We'd like to introduce you to our new, playable character Kai. Molly's waiting. 1.2 Changelog In addition to the new features described above, we have made a bunch of bug fixes and improvements to the overall game. Custom server names have been removed. The player's Steam name is now used automatically. Performance improvements to The Farmhouse, especially when running on Very Low settings. Animals run less predictably when fleeing. Animals will give up on seeking food if they are no longer able to make a path to it. Removes lean-forward animation for when interacting with something in first person. Fixes to how Hay snaps to the terrain when dropped. Demons now banishable during spawn. Demons will now align to the stairs better. Slightly more blood on the Nightmare robe. Anna will ignore people standing behind the drive-way fence. Anna can no longer be held by standing on the tree trunk in the front yard. Anna will more aggressively knockout players who are standing on something raised above her but within a reachable distance. Changes When reviving a player, the other player will also see the revive circle icon Goats left near the altar will wonder back towards the house Demons should no longer try to grab another player when already close to a player A random of 3 different fail endings is picked instead of picking one based on number of goats burned You can now burn demons with UV faster if multiple players focus them The KO achievement should now be awarded reliably Cultists no longer have horns in the endings Fixed an issue where sometimes the flashlight would be stuck on UV color after flickering
