Cyberpunk 2077 Becomes Steam’s Biggest Singleplayer Launch Ever with Over 1 Million Concurrent Players

CD Projekt’s New RPG Doubled the Previous Records Held by Terraria and Fallout 4

December 10, 2020 by

We knew CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be big based on early viewer counts, but with over 1 million players on its first day, the futuristic RPG crushed almost every record on Steam and has lived up to the hype.

For the past 5 years, Steam’s biggest singleplayer launch record was held by Bethesda’s Fallout 4 with a peak of 472k players. Earlier this year, Terraria just barely topped Fallout with 485k players.

Easily doubling the previous record held by singleplayer games, Cyberpunk 2077’s peak of 1 million players put it at #1 on Steam today, even topping Steam’s three biggest multiplayer games Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Cyberpunk 2077 also peaked with over 1 million concurrent viewers on Twitch and had 10x more players than CDPR’s previous biggest game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which peaked with 100k players during a Steam sale earlier this year.
