Cyberpunk 2077

Still haven't gotten round to Cyberpunk 2077? You can try it out for free very soon, but not for longMar 25, 2024 - VG247If everything you've heard about Cyberpunk 2077 over the years has you uncertain about it, an upcoming free trial can let you try it out without financial regrets. It would be pretty understandable if you've been waiting for the right time to play Cyberpunk. We all know how bad a launch it has, we don't need to get into that here, but it also released more than three years ago, meaning a whole bunch of other good games have come out since then. So, even if you wanted to try it out, maybe you couldn't justify the purchase (I can fully appreciate that in a stacked year like 2023, and also just because of how expensive games are now). Well, if you can manage to get yourself away from Dragon's Dogma 2 this weekend, CD Projekt Red is offering a free trial, no strings attached. The trail will be available on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and offers up to five hours of playtime. You also don't need a subscription of any kind, so don't worry if you aren't a PlayStation Plus or Game Pass subscriber, it's available to all. However, it's not around for all that long. You'll be able to start the demo this Thursday, March 28, at 8am PT/ 3pm GMT, and it will be available until March 31, 11:59pm PT/ April 1, 7:59am BST (the clocks change for us over in the EU this coming Sunday, in case any Americans are confused by the time zone designation change). Read more Ever wondered why Cyberpunk 2077's side quests are so good? Apparently all it takes is a lot of rejectionMar 24, 2024 - VG247Cyberpunk 2077 has plenty of good side quests, but perhaps unsurprisingly, the road to get there is paved with a whole lot of rejections. Earlier this week, Cyberpunk 2077 lead quest designer Paweł Sasko spoke with PC Gamer at GDC, where he shared what it took to make the side quests as good as they are. Turns out, all you need to do is reject a whole bunch of them. "A good designer has an acceptance ratio of their ideas of between five to 10%," Sasko said. "If someone has 10%, this is probably one of the best people we have in the team." Obviously that means a whole lot of pitching has to be done, as even 10 pitches would result in only one side quest being developed. Sasko went on to explain that part of weeding out the bad ideas at CD Projekt Red is by simply having quest designers offer all of their ideas, no matter the quality - that way, the best ones will stand out even more. "So what I do with our designers, I'm like, okay here's the list of genres. Here's a list of the themes that I want you to work with—list of topics. Write me pitches. And then they write, yeah, five, 10, 20 a day. Basically, an excellent pitch is like four sentences of like: That's the pitch." Read more How are CD Projekt's side quests so good? Cyberpunk quest designer says they reject 'over 90%' of their pitchesMar 23, 2024 - PC GamerCD Projekt Red's two biggest RPG hits, The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, are both known for big main quests and engaging characters, but more than anything you'll hear people consistently bring up the little adventures they have between other stories. In an interview with PC Gamer at GDC this past week, Cyberpunk 2077 lead quest designer Pawel Sasko said that's mostly because they're thinking of lots of ideas and only using the best ones... In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's great. One of the most calamitous launches in videogame history finally made good after a bevy of updates and the meaty Phantom Liberty expansion, a journey that's had some of us at PC Gamer asking if the game was actually just in a kind of warped early access for three years. Given that Baldur's Gate 3, our Game of the Year for 2023, had a long (and formal) early access period, we asked Phantom Liberty quest director Paweł Sasko at GDC if Cyberpunk might have benefited from the same thing... For those that love some Keanu, which you kind of have to or you're at risk of violating the rules of the internet, a new Cyberpunk mod is defintely worth checking out. While a quick update to the PC version of the game designed to help fix some misbehaving mouse buttons temporarily caused some modding strife eariler this week, all the core mods a lot of your load order relies on have now been updated, so things should pretty much be back to normal. We might be in for more of that if CD Projekt's devs come across any more litle things they'd really like to add to Night City, but for now, you're free to make your own fun by adding your own pet actor to all of your flats. Cyberpunk modder Deceptious, who's also recently turned V into an art collector in pretty interesting fashion, has just released their latest work, a mod called ‘Here's Johnny’. What does it do? Well, in the base game, Silverhand only usually spawns in interactable form outside of cutscenes in one of the game's aparments - V's original digs in Megabuilding H10. CD Projekt Red is no stranger to tough decisions in its games, but the fork in Phantom Liberty's road is a truly tough one. And hey, CDPR says that was the whole point, and one that built off the studio's other great Sophie's choice moment: Choosing who you'll side with in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. But you might've noticed that a lot of the post-launch patches were substantially less crunchy. A fully-functioning metro system, better romances—in other words, flavour and fluff... It’s pretty tiny and only affected the PC version of the game, but unfortunately it’s been made noteworthy for one reason. It’s messed with a lot of people’s load orders by necessitating updates to some of the game’s most widely used mods. Now, before you go and start moaning at some folks who’re probably busy working on making Cyberpunk’s sequel as good as it can be or quietly concocting ways to add new features to the original in a way that their bosses will deem easy enough to allow, this is far from the end of the world. Updates messing with mods is just a fact of life, and things should be back to normal pretty quickly. It is, however, a bit funny that this has happened over misbehaving mouse buttons. So, what’s happened? Well, CD Projekt support tweeted that the studio’s released a PC-only update for Cyberpunk today. “It fixes the crash that occurred when actions were assigned to side buttons on Razer mice,” the studio revealed, adding: “The update won't change the version of the game visible in the main menu but it could affect mods.” Read more Steam Global Top Sellers for week of 12 Mar — 19 March 2024Mar 19, 2024 - SteamDB * HELLDIVERS™ 2; * Dragon's Dogma 2; * Steam Deck; * Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Siege; * Baldur's Gate 3; * Dead by Daylight; * Cyberpunk 2077; * EA SPORTS FC™ 24; * Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III; * Red Dead Redemption 2; * excluding free to play games View top 100 on SteamDBYou'll soon be able to play GOG games away from your PC through Amazon LunaMar 18, 2024 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunWhile cloud gaming is very much not at a point where I want it to be the main way I play games, if I ever will, I do appreciate having the convenience as an option. Being able to play a game away from my PC can be handy. So it's neat that GOG have announced they're teaming up with Amazon to make select GOG games playable through the Amazon Luna cloud gaming platform "soon". Sure, I might be tempted to take a nice stroll through Night City while slouching about with my laptop that absolutely cannot run Cyberpunk 2077. Well, that’s still the case, as the reason there’s still some stuff being added in via the latest updates is simply that the devs can’t resist working on it. Yup, the little tweaks and additions that’ve continued to pop up in Night City, despite the studio’s focus Cyberpunk-wise having seemingly shifted to its sequel, Project Orion, is due to folks just not being able to say to themselves ‘nah, it doesn’t need that’. Hey, if we’re gonna get some cool little reasons to keep dipping back into the game, who are we to complain? As part of an interview with Game File that also saw him discuss whether CD Projekt has a shot at repeating what it did with the Phantom Liberty expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 game director Gabe Amatangelo also touched on the studio’s inability to stop doing things with the game. First of all, he re-emphasised that it’s definitely done with the first entry in the series now. Sorted. Finished. Clocking out. That metro system, which Amatangelo said came together after his team pitched him a plan to get it done in efficient fashion, was the last hurrah. Read more Cyberpunk 2077's director reckons pulling off something like Phantom Liberty again is "very achievable"Mar 12, 2024 - VG247Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion was very good, so good in fact, that it ended up popping up in some GOTY debates despite being, you know, a DLC. That’s a pretty high bar to try and match, but the game’s director reckons that’s something that CD Projekt is definitely capable of. Even if a few sneaky additions are still finding their way into the original game, a lot of the focus has begun to shift to its sequel, codenamed Project Orion, with work having kicked off in earnest at CD Projekt on that game earlier this year. We already knew that the studio has pretty high expectations for it, and Gabe Amatangelo seems to reckon it has a good chance of at least matching Phantom Liberty. Speaking to Game File’s Stephen Totilo, Amatangelo - who became Cyberpunk 2077’s game director in May 2021 and therefore played a key role in its turnaround following a well-documented rocky release - said that he thinks pulling off something like Phantom Liberty again is “very achievable” for the studio. Why does he believe that? A hidden picture of Cyberpunk 2077's devs has just been discovered in-game, naturally it's near a giant burgerMar 8, 2024 - VG247Psst, did you know that the Cyberpunk 2077’s devs had added a fresh little secret to the game alongside one of its recent updates? Well, CD Projekt did just that, and to see it, you’ll have to get up close and personal with a giant burger. While it’s fun knowing that work has kicked off at CD Projekt on the game’s highly-anticipated sequel, even if some of the studio’s other projects are still shrouded in mystery, it’s still going to be a good while until any of them arrive. So, you can hardly blame one player for having stumbled across this secret by (checks notes) taking in the views from atop a fast food joint. The joint in question is Tom’s Diner, the eatery where you meet up with Takemura early on in the base game’s main story - you know, not long after all of that relic stuff goes down. As YouTuber Ian Ilano TV has spotted (thanks, GamesRadar), following the game’s big 2.1 update, if you clamber up on the roof of this fine establishment, you can encounter a fun little easter egg involving a picture of some CD Projekt devs. Read more Patch 2.12Feb 29, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsPatch 2.12 for Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty is live. Cyberpunk 2077's latest must-have mod lets you become an art collector, because mercs can be cultured tooFeb 19, 2024 - VG247If you’ve long believed that the one thing missing from Cyberpunk 2077 is the chance for V to embrace their true calling as an art snob, rather than just living in a flat full of scruffy Samurai posters, then you’re in luck thanks to a new mod. While it’s fun knowing that work has kicked off at CD Projekt on the game’s highly-anticipated sequel, even if some of the studio’s other projects are still shrouded in mystery, it’s still going to be a good while until any of them arrive. So, in the meantime, searching Night City for pretty paintings to put up in your apartments seems like it’d be a nice hobby. ‘Artistic’ is a wonderfully simple name for a mod about collecting art, which is the latest work to come from prolific Cyberpunk modder Deceptious, who’s enlisted some help from a few real-life artists to bring their vision to life. What is that vision, you ask? Well, as they explain the mod’s description: “V can now choose, display, and enjoy art in their apartment(s)!” Read more Witcher developer's new IP is "definitely NOT a cosmic horror in feudal Japan", in case you were wonderingFeb 19, 2024 - VG247Bad news, fans of interesting things, it looks like the mysterious new IP in the works at The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 studio CD Projekt isn’t a cosmic horror game set in feudal Japan. It’s a very specific option to rule out, but that’s what co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has done. While there’s been some buzz around Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel - codenamed Project Orion - recently, thanks to CD Projekt officially acknowledging that development has kicked off for it and sharing news of some additions to the team working on it, things have remained quite quiet on the Project Hadar front. Now, though, we’ve had an update on what the game won’t be, just in case you were hyped up for one very specific idea. In response to some fan speculation about what Hadar might involve - via a tweet that happened to mention cosmic horror and feudal Japan as separate ideas - CD Projekt Michał Nowakowski has shot down the idea of it being those two things welded together in some fashion. “ can only tell it’s definitely NOT a cosmic horror in feudal Japan ;),” he said, adding: “Time will come, we will spill the beans. Worry not.” Read more Hogwarts Legacy, Alan Wake 2 и Cyberpunk 2077 вошли в число самых популярных игр в Epic Games Store за 2023 годFeb 16, 2024 - Gamemag.ruВ Epic Games Store подвели итоги 2023 года. Fallout's co-creator likes mods because they can help solve dumb Twitter arguments, and he's totally rightFeb 15, 2024 - VG247Tim Cain, one of the developers behind the original Fallout and a consultant on The Outer Worlds 2, has outlined how he feels about mods in a recent YouTube video, and one of the big positives he alludes to is their potential to serve as an alternative or solution to annoying back-and-forths about features and mechanics in video games. If you’re modding a game, odds are some of the first works you’ll grab - assuming they’re on offer - will be ones that revamp certain systems within it to better match what you want from the experience. For some people, it’s turning Fallout 4 into a survival game, for me it’s turning everything into Fallout New Vegas, complete with perk and skill systems that mirror that game. As it turns out, Fallout co-creator Tim Cain’s a big fan of these kinds of mods, because they can actually help developers think about things people might want them to do with or add to their games without just being someone declaring ‘do this’ on the internet. Read more The Witcher 3 Now Has a Higher Daily Concurrent Player Peak Than Cyberpunk 2077 on SteamFeb 18, 2021 - GitHypCD Projekt Red's launch of Cyberpunk 2077 made history when it became the first singleplayer game to break 1 million concurrent players on Steam back in December. But after a record-breaking start, performance issues and bugs quickly halted Cyberpunk's hype train, resulting in the game losing 79% of its players in the first month. Now, two months after its release, Cyberpunk 2077 is seeing its player counts dip below CDPR's six-year-old RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. After falling from its #1 spot on Steam, this week Cyberpunk 2077 peaked at #29 with The Witcher 3 jumping ahead to #27… and despite maintaining Mostly Positive reviews, CDPR's new IP keeps losing players -- now down 96% since launch. In the past 48-hours, Cyberpunk 2077 peaked with just 27k concurrent players on Steam -- 20% less than The Witcher 3's peak of 34k players over the same time frame. Even last week's Lunar New Year sale on Steam (which cut $10 off Cyberpunk's $60 price) didn't have a positive impact on the game's declining player base who seem to have run out of things to do in Night City or are waiting for major bug fixes, new content, or multiplayer.Cyberpunk 2077's Player Base Has Declined 3x Faster Than The Witcher 3’s Launch on SteamJan 4, 2021 - GitHypSince the divisive launch of Cyberpunk 2077 last month, CD Projekt Red's new futuristic RPG was pulled from the PlayStation Store with both Microsoft and Sony offering full refunds – something we've never seen happen to a triple-A game. However, without the same performance issues that ruined its launch on consoles, Cyberpunk 2077 has done much better on PC, debuting at #1 on Steam with over 1 million players and maintaining Mostly Positive feedback from over 300k player reviews. Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 hasn't been able to maintain its player base on Steam. And when comparing the new IP to CDPR's previous biggest game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the dev/publisher could be in even more trouble. When Cyberpunk 2077 launched a little over 3 weeks ago, it became the first singleplayer game ever to break 1 million concurrent players on Steam. But over this past weekend, Cyberpunk continued its decline, struggling to peak at 225k players. While that 79% drop in players is worrying, most singleplayer games typically lose around the same amount of players, if not even more, after their first month on Steam. Open-world games like Cyberpunk are usually the exception, and compared to The Witcher 3, CDPR's new digital playground certainly isn't doing as well at keeping players interested in coming back for more. Although CDPR's previous hit only peaked with 92k players during its launch back in May 2015, The Witcher 3 was still able to retain over half its player base with a peak of 55k players online a month later. It took 3 whole months before Witcher 3 lost more than 79% of its players on Steam. At the start of 2020, hype for Cyberpunk and a sale helped Witcher 3 break its own all-time peak record with 103k concurrent players on Steam. One month later, it again only lost 40% of its players. One year later, and it still hasn't lost more than 74% of its player base since peaking in January. Even more recently, The Witcher 3's player base has started to increase again due to another sale and players likely returning to say, "¡Hola!" to Geralt of Rivia after their buggy trip to Night City. CDPR has a proven track record of fixing their games on PC post-launch, and one of the biggest reasons Cyberpunk 2077 still maintains a positive average score on Steam is because in many ways the retail version of the game already looks better than the game's reveal back in 2018. Cyberpunk 2077's player counts are sure to spike again as more bugs are fixed and when the game goes on sale -- we've already seen it happen numerous times in the past with Witcher games. But with the developer now having to focus on trying to fix the last-gen console versions, we're probably going to have to wait even longer for new content and multiplayer to help revive the player base.Cyberpunk 2077 Becomes Steam’s Biggest Singleplayer Launch Ever with Over 1 Million Concurrent PlayersDec 10, 2020 - GitHypWe knew CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be big based on early viewer counts, but with over 1 million players on its first day, the futuristic RPG crushed almost every record on Steam and has lived up to the hype. For the past 5 years, Steam’s biggest singleplayer launch record was held by Bethesda’s Fallout 4 with a peak of 472k players. Earlier this year, Terraria just barely topped Fallout with 485k players. Easily doubling the previous record held by singleplayer games, Cyberpunk 2077’s peak of 1 million players put it at #1 on Steam today, even topping Steam’s three biggest multiplayer games Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Cyberpunk 2077 also peaked with over 1 million concurrent viewers on Twitch and had 10x more players than CDPR's previous biggest game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which peaked with 100k players during a Steam sale earlier this year.Almost Half a Million Viewers Tuned in to CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Reveal Live on TwitchAug 28, 2018 - GitHypWith CD Projekt Red only showing gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 to the media behind-closed-doors at E3 and Gamescom this year, gamers have been dying to get a first look at what's next from the developer of The Witcher and Gwent. Thankfully, CDPR hosted a mysterious stream on Twitch earlier today entitled “DATA TRANSMISSION IN PROGRESS_” and after 9 hours of cryptic code running on the screen, the devs finally revealed what everyone has been wanting years to see: 48-minutes of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay. CDPR’s official stream on Twitch saw a peak of 288k viewers -- while there were a total of 459k concurrent viewers watching when factoring in restreams -- making Cyberpunk 2077 the most watched game on Twitch yesterday. And so far, just under 100k viewers have watched the VOD on CDPR’s official Twitch channel and another 2.6 million views have been racked up on the official YouTube video. But Cyberpunk’s reveal wasn’t just the most watched game on Twitch yesterday topping Fortnite’s peak of 305k viewers… it was also the most watched stream for a newly released or upcoming game this year, doubling the peaks of new games such as God of War (283k), Sea of Thieves (259k), and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s (204k) first look. Still with no release date for Cyberpunk 2077; now, we’ll just have to wait and see if Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 can top CDPR’s stream when it releases in just two more months on October 28, 2018. Considering Cyberpunk 2077 is looking at a 2019 release and that many of Twitch's top streamers will likely all be playing the new open world game from Rockstar on Day 1, RDR2 has a better shot than any other game of topping CDPR's stream as the most watched on Twitch by the end of this year.
