Retiring Clicker Heroes 2Mar 13, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsTo our Clicker Heroes 2 community, we've made the difficult decision to remove the game from sale on Steam. The Adobe Flash ecosystem, which our game heavily relied on, has all but disappeared, making it impossible for us to obtain the SDK needed for newer builds. As many of you know, the game has not received an update in quite some time, and the original team is no longer with us. These challenges, combined with numerous technical hurdles, have left us without a viable path towards a version 1.0 that we'd be satisfied with. We're truly sorry for any disappointment this causes and hope, over time, to make things right for those of you who were looking forward to more. Today we’re releasing a major update to Clicker Heroes 2 which introduces many new mechanics. One of the major changes is that we’ve separated the game into two difficulty settings, so that we no longer have to worry about casual players getting stuck whenever we're trying to balance the game for the players who are heavily optimizing, or about optimal play degenerating into something that isn't fun because of concessions we had to make for casual players to be able to progress. By adding these difficulty modes we think we’ve found a balance for what will be enjoyable for both types of players and we’ve been able to remove Empyrean Motes and Ancient Shards, two unpopular mechanics that we previously had to keep around because of the enormous power differences between different players. Because of this many of the existing features in the game needed to be completely reworked. Patch notes -Added Difficulty Modes Casual Mode: For when you want a fun, smooth experience without worrying about whether the decisions you make are mathematically optimal. Difficult Mode: For when you want a challenging experience where your ability to progress is based entirely on how well you play. -Cid’s skill tree has been completely replaced and functions differently. You now get all of the most important abilities for a given build with the first point you spend. -Forge cores now drop from bosses instead of rubies. -Forge cores can be spent to craft and upgrade Artifacts, which have replaced Ethereal items. -Difficulty/Player power rebalance. -Item costs and damage increased. -Kuma buff has been removed. -Empyrean Motes have been removed, you can now transcend whenever you want for full hero soul rewards, once you have completed system eight. -Hero soul costs and rewards adjusted to better reward pushing to higher systems. -Automator now persists through Transcension. -Challenges temporarily disabled as we work to get them updated. -Added a currency tab to the miscellaneous panel where you can see all of your currencies, with tool-tips on how you get them and what they do. -Added a save conversion tab for converting a difficult save to casual. Which makes a copy of your save first in case you want to come back to it later. -Added a Crafting Panel for spending your Forge Cores to craft and Upgrade Artifacts. -Performance improvements. -Bug Fixes. Save Migration for this update Upon logging in your save will be adjusted to accommodate the significant game play changes. If you've transcended previously: Your character will be transcended and all of your Transcension perks will be reset, but you will be awarded Hero Souls based on the highest Star System you have even completed. Helpful Adventurer skill tree planners and Automators will be reset because of the significant skill tree and skill changes. Over the last several months we've been working on a major overhaul of the game based on your feedback. Today however, we're announcing the experimental where those of you who are willing to give us feedback can come try it out. Cid's Skill Tree has been completely redesigned.With your first skill point you now select one of four specializations, unlocking all of the core skills and features for that build. This locks you into that build's quadrant of the skill tree until you ascend, so the nodes available to you each ascension will depend on which specialization you chose for that ascension. Ethereal Items have been replaced with Artifacts, which grant much larger damage bonuses and are crafted from Forge Cores dropped by bosses. You can think of them like your normal items in terms of how important they will be for you to make progress, but unlike normal items they survive between worlds. Major performance improvements everywhere, but especially for certain Cid builds during offline progress and for players with slow RAM. Some of these might cause new errors in calculations that previously worked correctly, so please let me know if any of the math seems to be off in game. Known issues currently Do not purchase Ethereal Items from the ruby shop, it could mess up your save. Keep confirmation pop-ups enabled on the skill tree or you might have trouble purchasing nodes sometimes. How to participate in the experimental Restart Steam. Today we’ve got a new update for you with some exciting new changes. Skill Tree Planner The Skill Tree Planner is a new automation and planning tool unlocked after your first Transcension. The tool allows you to plan out your skill tree and will automatically purchase the nodes you have selected along the path once you earn a skill point. You can save multiple plans and use whichever one you find best for your current ascension and you can also Import and Export your tree to share with others. One World Exhaustion Challenge In this challenge clicks regenerate 2 energy but gives a stack of exhaustion. You are stuck with a maximum of 20 energy with no way to increase it. Clickstorm has been replaced with Autoattackstorm and Energize has been replaced with Managize. Critstorm has been replaced by Improved Overflow which allows Manacrit to hit up to 5 additional enemies. Goldenclicks has been replaced by Pay Day which you earn stacks of by killing monsters with Big Clicks and consume the stacks by killing a monster with Huge Clicks. Click Torrent has been replaced by Reinvigorate which gives clicks a chance to remove all exhaust based on a percentage of your haste. All 4 corners of the tree are separated from the center and you have one node unlocked in the middle of each section. The times to beat for this challenge are: Gold: Under 20 minutes Silver: Under 30 minutes Bronze: Under 40 minutes Transcension/Empyrean Mote changes The rates at which you gain Hero Souls and Empyrean Motes have been changed significantly. You will now gain fewer Hero Souls per world but more Empyrean Motes total. Under the old system, each Mote appeared in the ruby shop one day after the Mote before it. With these changes you will acquire the Mote automatically (no more needing to check the ruby shop) and each Mote will take less time to earn than the Mote before it. The first Mote of a Transcension takes somewhere around 8 hours, and the last Mote takes fewer than 10 minutes, with the amount of time per Mote scaling linearly between those two. As a result, when you log in for the first time after the update the number of Souls you will gain by immediately Transcending will be lower than it was before the patch if you are currently below your Mote cap. If you were at fewer than 10 Motes before the update, you will catch back up to what you had pretty quickly, and will reach 60 Motes in the new system at roughly the same time you would have reached 10 in the old system and won't actually have lost anything overall. Players who already had Mote caps well above 10 will find that cap scaling has been changed as well and they will not be able to reach the same number of effective Hero Souls per Transcension as they could before when waiting for the cap. The length of a Mote capped Transcension will be significantly shorter than it was previously, but you will also not be able to reach as high of a Hero Soul multiplier as you could pre-update. Your character will start off stopped and have the center of the Skill tree automatically unlocked as well as 20 levels you can choose to spend on whatever you want. Experience gain has been greatly increased and by the end of the world, you should have about 110 levels. The amount of stats each node gives has been adjusted with Transcendence perks and you will have the Transcendence panel available to see what those changes are. We’ve got another update for you today that should address some of the issues with the Wizard and changes some functionality. Transmutation has been removed and exchange now levels up items as well as purchasing them. Symbiosis now gives and consumes the proper amount of stacks. Fixed a bug where some traits on the Wizard were not persisting through ascension. Fixed a bug where a single Synergy was working for all 3 elements. Fixed a bug on the Wizard where clicks and auto attacks could do deal more damage than they were intended to. Energy gained/removed tooltip now rounds down to avoid very large numbers. Improved offline progress processing time. Testing was primarily done on the Wizard and depending on the build there was around a 10-25% improvement. Cid should have a similar improvement. Clicker Heroes 2 0.13 - Transcension Improvements and Character Balance ChangesJun 4, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHey Heroes, We heard the feedback on Transcension and we’ve made some changes to improve the experience. Wizard’s stats were a little too crazy so we toned them down a bit and brought Cid’s up some to hopefully bring the characters closer together. Transcension changes Empyrean Mote purchase cooldown reduced to 24 hours. Transcending no longer increases the cooldown for your next Empyrean Mote. When you Transcend your pending Hero Souls get multiplied by the number of Empyrean Motes you have up to a cap of 10 Empyrean Motes. As you Transcend this cap will gradually increase. Pending Hero Soul drops from worlds have been reduced. *Offline Progress time limit has been increased to 24.5 hours. Wizard Synergy has been replaced with Symbiosis in the skill tree. Example: Ice and Lightning Symbiosis: Ice spells give 3 Lightning Symbiosis stacks and Lightning spells give 3 Ice Symbiosis stacks. All spells consume Symbiosis stacks, but if they are the appropriate spell type your spell damage will be increased by 50%. Stacks. Synergy is now available as a Transcension perk. Circuit has changed to make your Rank 7-9 Lightning spells have a chance to strike additional times every 0.1 seconds for 1 second. Corrosion has been changed to increase the damage dealt to burning monsters when hit by a specific spell. Circuit, Shatter, and Explosion are now flammable and are no longer upgradeable (any hero souls spent on upgrades will be refunded) Cid All storm variants now replace any other storm you have. Autoattackstorm now doubles autoattack damage while active and it's attacks generate 1 extra energy. Clicktorrent no longer has a limited duration. Jerators Enchantment now causes your critical strikes from auto attacks to restore mana and energy and the internal cooldown has been removed. Synchrony now increases energy gained from Auto attacks while Autoattackstorm is active. Cid now has Limitless Haste by default and the Limitless Haste node has been replaced with something new. Discharge can now crit and it’s maximum range has been doubled. General Achievements have now been enabled on Steam. Offline Progress time limit has been increased to 24.5 hours. Transcension panel now shows the mote cap per Transcension. Optimized stat calculations by caching stat values. Volume should no longer jump to 100% during offline progress. Purchasing nodes should no longer click on nodes underneath the purchase button. Lines connecting purchased nodes are now thicker. Fixed level graph lines disappearing when context is lost. Fixed damage numbers disappearing when context is lost. Fixed several crashes from lost context. Fixed an issue where Ethereal items occasionally failed to get created and could crash the game. Fixed an issue where loading the final boss of a world could crash the game. Fixed an issue where you could spend 1 extra skill point than you had. Fixed “No Pawns” Achievement. Fixed an issue with Cid’s buff bar failing to load properly when switching from the Wizard. Clicker Heroes 2 - Transcendence Update is now Live!May 14, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsAscension We’ve removed Gilding and replaced it with Ascending. Forced skill tree resets no longer exist and you can choose when to reset your skill tree. However, unlike with gilding, most of the stats you previously unlocked in the Skill tree will be kept and unlocking them again will give an additional bonus. Transcendence Transcension is an additional reset mechanic that allows you to earn hero souls that you can use to unlock special perks that augment existing skills or increase the value that nodes in the skill tree provide whether it’s individual nodes or an entire set of nodes for a specific stat. Wizard Skill tree changes Due to the removal of Gilding and the introduction of Ascension we’ve had to re-balance all of the nodes on the Wizard. In doing so we’ve made it so that skill tree nodes of the same type no longer increase in value as you get further out in the tree. This was done to prevent the feeling that you need to stay in an ascension for as long as possible to get the most value out of skill tree purchases. ​Haste and Flash changes on the Wizard As some of you may know, there were some issues with haste and the way the Runecorder worked before. We’ve decided to remove haste from items on the Wizard and have changed the functionality of the Flash trait. Instead of Flash increasing the cast speed of skills we’ve now made it so that Flash gives a chance to cast the spell again instantaneously which will also have a chance to burn, chain, shatter, explode, etc. To compensate for the haste and flash removal, we’ve also reduced the cast time of all spells. ​Runecorder changes The Runecorder has been significantly improved and instead of needing to get all your spells into one Runecording we’ve added the ability to chain multiple Runecordings together. By default, it will now perform each action once and work its way down the playlist, but we’ve also added the ability to selectively repeat each recording as many times as you’d like. However, there is a cap of 20 Runecordings per playlist and you’ll still need to make some longer recordings if you want to have a more complex playlist. Item purchasing Unlocking the Runecorder now grants a spell that can be used to purchase items. Skill tree Randomization Similar to World Traits, we felt that with Ascension skill tree randomization no longer made sense on the Wizard and we have decided to remove it. Cid Cid’s skills and stats now scale linearly instead of exponentially. Clickstorm and the clickstorm variants no longer increase their speed over time. All “hastened” nodes have been removed and replaced with Auto Attack Damage nodes. World traits have been removed. Discharge now deals damage based on the amount of energy spent and your auto attack damage. Added Managize = 0 stone. Added Multiclick = 0 stone. Fixed a bug where the Ruby shop gems could crash the game. Added a search option to the Automator panel for Gems and Stones. There were some issues with migrating saves in the last update so we wanted to make sure we got a fix out for that as soon as possible. In the meantime we also fixed a number of other issues. Here’s a full list of the changes this patch. Fixed an issue where the code for old Ethereal items wasn’t completely removed and was causing negative stats/traits on migrated saves. Made the first 2 worlds easier. Hiding the UI should now persist through environments. Improved Offline Progress calculation time on the Wizard. Save migration popup now appears after Offline Progress and sticks around. Also now works when loading a different save through the menu. Input key popup for Cid skin now accepts pasting with CTRL+V. Fixed most decimal precision issues. Added an icon for Exchange. Added a confirmation for Transcending. Added a confirmation for restoring from a backup. There's a new update out on Experimental with quite a few changes. Wizard Unlocking the Runecorder now comes with a spell that allows you to purchase items. (may not apply until your next ascension) The Skill tree has been adjusted slightly to put cost reduction on more optional paths. Cost reduction no longer has diminishing returns. Energon cube no longer scales with level, but lasts for 18 seconds. Burn now combines multiple ticks of burn from separate spells to improve performance. Wizard now starts with 300 Mana, but can no longer get Mana or Energy ethereal items. Circuit now applies burn. Fixed an issue where fire was getting more damage from Lightning and Fire damage nodes than what was intended. Zap should no longer crash the game in certain circumstances. Cid New Automator tree. New Transcension Perk: Automatic Automation (Start each Transcension with a full copy of the Automator tree) General New Stats panel. Added four new unique soundtracks for the Astral World. Experimental update - Transcendence, Wizard, Astral World, and Achievements.Apr 6, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsTranscendence In our last experimental update we introduced Ascension and in this update we’re introducing Transcension which is an additional reset mechanic that allows you to earn hero souls that you can use to unlock special perks that augment existing skills or increase the value that nodes in the skill tree provide whether it’s individual nodes or an entire set of nodes for a specific stat. You can also now migrate your saves over from live and depending on how far you got, you may be able to Transcend already and try it out. Wizard The Wizard wasn’t available in the last update since we weren’t quite ready for Ascension. We’ve since fully implemented Ascension on the Wizard and have also made significant changes that you should be aware of. Skill tree changes Due to the removal of gilding and the introduction of Ascension we’ve had to rebalance all of the nodes and in doing so we’ve made it so that skill tree nodes of the same type no longer increase in value as you get further out in the tree. This was done to prevent the feeling that you need to stay in an ascension for as long as possible to get the most value out of skill tree purchases. ​Haste and Flash changes As some of you may know, there were some issues with haste and the way the Runecorder worked before. We’ve decided to remove haste from items on the Wizard and have changed the functionality of the Flash trait. Instead of Flash increasing the cast speed of skills we’ve now made it so that Flash gives a chance to cast the spell again instantaneously which will also have a chance to burn, chain, shatter, explode, etc. To compensate for the haste and flash removal, we’ve also reduced the cast time of all spells. ​Runecorder changes The Runecorder has been significantly improved and instead of needing to get all your spells into one Runecording we’ve added the ability to chain multiple Runecordings together. By default, it will now perform each action once and work its way down the playlist, but we’ve also added the ability to selectively repeat each recording as many times as you’d like. However, there is a cap of 20 Runecordings per playlist and you’ll still need to make some longer recordings if you want to have a more complex playlist. Skill tree Randomization Similar to World Traits, we felt that with Ascension skill tree randomization no longer made sense on the Wizard and we have decided to remove it. General New Star System UI The world select panel has been drastically reworked to display the total number of worlds in a Star System and to show your progression through a Star System. Astral World Along with the new Star System UI and the introduction of Ascension, we’ve decided to add a new world that only shows up for the last world of every Star System. The Astral world is at the center of every system and contains a variety of unique monsters and a special world boss. We just released another update to the experimental version of Clicker Heroes 2 that reintroduces Ethereal items and fixes some of the remaining balance issues with the game. We've also changed the format we use for different versions of the game to be closer to what we use internally. Patch notes * Ethereal items have been reworked and now ignore the Skill tree and just give a flat stat bonus. * Reduced Ethereal item reward from first time world completions to 1. * Fixed mini boss display issues with less mobs per zone. * Reduced the difficulty of the first two worlds by increasing the item efficiency there. * Unspent skill points should actually now persist through ascensions. * Doubled boss health. * Reduced default Crit damage. * Huge Click Discount based on Huge Click no longer scales exponentially with traits. * Reduced the amount the item cost reduction nodes give. * Mana crit cooldown and Mana cost increased. * Quick reload and Limitless big clicks no longer persist through ascension.
