This epic adventure of a ruthless bounty hunter on the trail of the West’s most notorious outlaws captured the attention of millions of gamers worldwide. To celebrate, Techland is bringing the western style to Dying Light 2 Stay Human. During the Undead or Alive event starting 31st of May 16:00 CEST until 7th of June 16:00 CEST, players will need to keep their aim sharp and nerves cool to dispense legendary justice with the help of a Gunslinger-themed Boomstick AKA Mean-ass gun. That's big and welcome news for those of us who have spent months longingly watching videos and gifs of Rockstar's open-world cowboy RPG. That's still about a month away, though, but if your trigger fingers are already itching there are a bunch of good western games to tide you over while you want. You might not find animals you can realistically skin in this list, or long monologues from gruff men on horseback, but you'll still find plenty of fun interpretations of a western setting. Below, we've collected some games and mods that you impatient cowpokes are sure to enjoy. West of Loathing One of the funniest games in years on PC, and indeed the recipient of our Comedy GOTY award of 2017, West of Loathing is a clever spin on traditional RPGs whether you're interested in a western setting or not. The tone is set when the game asks you to choose from three classes: Snake Oiler, Cowpuncher, or Beanslinger. This is a world that features goblins and skeletons, so it's probably not quite as true to the Old West as Red Dead is. Nonetheless, it's absolutely full of genuinely good jokes to discover—taking a curious approach in picking apart its environments and talking to strangers is always rewarded.  12 is Better Than 6 This awkwardly-named top-down shooter might remind you of Hotline Miami, with more of a focus on ammo conservation, careful shooting, and stealth. You have to raise your gun with the right mouse button then fire with the left, then hit 'r' when you want to reload. If you're out of bullets, you can chance it with a knife by popping out from behind cover. The rhythm of the combat captures that feeling of a Wild West duel gone south, where everyone's firing at each other at once in a saloon or a barn. Its pretty black, white, and red colour palette also makes it look like someone meticulously brought its world to life on a notepad in biro.  Hunt: Showdown "The sun is setting on the Wild West," is how Crytek describes the setting of Hunt: Showdown, which is part survival game, part competitive FPS and more of a horror-themed game than it is a western. The designs of the bounty hunter characters and weapons, though, are pretty appealing if you enjoy this sort of backdrop, and don't mind an infusion of supernatural enemies like giant spiders and zombies in 1800s Louisianna. Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood The original Call of Juarez is alright, too, but we’ll recommend the sequel, Bound in Blood if you only plan to play one. (Just don’t make the one you play The Cartel . That one was bad.) Call of Juarez is no Red Dead, but the straightforward 2009 action game isn’t chopped liver, either. The graphics are worn, but if you like games like Medal of Honor: Allied Assault then your 10 bucks won’t go to waste here. It’s simple—move to...Techland Call of Juarez: Gunslinger teasing targets Red Dead Redemption 2Oct 8, 2018 - EurogamerTechland's cowboy game Call of Juarez: Gunslinger could be about to make a comeback - of some kind. First came an image of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger on the series official Facebook page, along with the provocative slogan "legends never die"; and then, moments ago, a short video appeared with a message for Rockstar's upcoming cowboy mega-blockbuster Red Dead Redemption 2. "Silas Greaves has something to say to Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang," said the trailer blurb. Read more… A message for Arthur MorganOct 8, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsSilas Greaves has something to say to Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. https://youtu.be/cW6hKnYc7HcTechland acquires Call of Juarez: Gunslinger from Ubisoft, restores it to SteamApr 30, 2018 - PC GamerThe 2013 Wild West FPS Call of Juarez: Gunslinger was removed from Steam (and Xbox Live and PlayStation Network) at the end of March. Now it's back, and flying the flag of Techland Publishing, a division of developer Techland, which has acquired the game from original publisher Ubisoft.  "We would like to thank Ubisoft for its incredible work publishing the Call of Juarez games," Techland Publishing CPO Adam Lasoń said. "We’ll continue the great efforts of Ubisoft and support the fans of the Call of Juarez universe in the same dutiful and passionate way."  Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, an "homage" to tales of the Old West, is actually quite good, but I think it suffered somewhat for coming on the heels of Call of Juarez: The Cartel, an interesting attempt to bring the series into the modern day that was really not good: "Brutal and boring," as we said in our 35/100 review. That's the sort of negative impression that tends to hang in the air for awhile. The status of the Call of Juarez series overall isn't entirely clear. The Techland Publishing statement refers specifically to Gunslinger; the Steam listing for the original Call of Juarez also lists Techland as the publisher, but its direct sequel, Bound in Blood, still bears the Ubisoft nameplate. (The Cartel is nowhere to be seen, which is probably for the best.)    It's also not clear what Techland has in mind for the future of the franchise: "Passionate" support for the game is laudable, but Gunslinger is five years old and not exactly a runaway blockbuster. I've reached out to Techland to ask about its longer-term plans, and will update if I receive a reply: In the meantime, if you'd like to try your hand at slinging some guns, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is on sale on Steam for $10/£7/€8 until May 4.  Daily Deal - Call of Juarez Gunslinger, 75% OffSep 10, 2015 - AnnouncementToday's Deal: Save 75% on Call of Juarez® Gunslinger!* Look for the deals each day on the front page of Steam.
