Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Sledgehammer co-founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey have left the studioFeb 20, 2018 - PC GamerGlen Schofield and Michael Condrey, both formerly of the now-defunct EA outfit Visceral Games, co-founded Sledgehammer Games in 2009. The studio quickly built a name for itself working in Activision's Call of Duty universe, first as co-developer (with Infinity Ward) on Modern Warfare 3, and then in the lead on Advanced Warfare and WWII. But now they've both moved on to other things: Activision confirmed with Kotaku today that they have left the studio, although they will remain with the publisher in new roles.  "Following the incredible success of Call of Duty: WWII, Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey have decided to transition from their duties at Sledgehammer Games to new executive duties inside Activision. We thank Glen and Michael for their tremendous body of work on Call of Duty and look forward to continuing to collaborate with them in their new roles," Activision said.    "These changes have created an opportunity to elevate one of the key leaders at the studio, Aaron Halon, to lead Sledgehammer Games. Aaron is a founding member of Sledgehammer Games and the natural fit to lead the team. He has over 20 years of industry experience and has played an instrumental role throughout the studio’s history. We congratulate Aaron and are thrilled about the future of Sledgehammer Games, which we believe has even bigger days ahead."  It's a move that might spark hazy memories of Vince Zampella and Jason West's split from Infinity Ward in 2010, but this breakup, while obviously representing a dramatic change for Sledgehammer, is my all appearances perfectly amicable. In fact, Schofield and Condrey both thanked Activision in separate statements for the opportunity to found and lead Sledgehammer, and referenced new projects they're involved with at the company.  "Activision has offered me the opportunity to focus my energy on something I’m very passionate about, exploring new game ideas for the company," Schofield said. "It’s something I just couldn’t pass up."  "I’m proud of what we accomplished together, it has been the greatest experience of my professional life. I am looking forward to starting a new chapter of my career with Activision," Condrey said. Alas, what the next chapter and new ideas will entail remains a mystery for now. Donald Trump claimed to have sold fictional Call of Duty jets to NorwayJan 11, 2018 - PC GamerUS President Donald Trump held a joint news conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg yesterday at the White House. During the event, as reported by the Washington Post (via Vice), he enthused about the delivery of US F-52 fighter jets to Norway, a deal that he said was actually unfolding ahead of schedule.    "In November we started delivering the first F-52 and F-35 fighter jets. We have a total of 52, and they've delivered a number of them already, a little ahead of schedule," Trump said. "It's a $10 billion order. Norway also invests about one-third of its sovereign wealth fund in American businesses, supporting hundreds of thousands of American jobs. They're very big investors in our stock market, and therefore the Prime Minister thanked me very much."    There's only one problem with that statement: If you want to know anything about the F-52—speed, armaments, operational ceiling, that sort of thing—you have to hit up the Call of Duty Wiki, because it's not actually a real plane. It only exists in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and in the minds of those who have played it.  Trump appears to be reading directly from a script when he talks about the deal for the non-existent fighter, so it's possible that he misread—although he clearly makes no effort to correct himself—or that the script itself was somehow wrong. I suppose it's also technically possible that the F-52 is such a super-secret new fighter that we've never heard of it before now, although I'm not convinced that Norway would be the number-one market for that kind of tech. Or maybe the claim was drive by something else entirely, perhaps somehow related to his overall competence and suitability for the job.  That said, he was partly right. Norway has ordered 40 of the much-troubled F-35 fighters and has another 12 lined up, and has so far taken delivery of ten of them. It's purely speculation, but I'd guess that that's the source of the flub: 52 fighters, F-52, they're practically the same thing anyway. Right? This is what Norway's new fighters would look like in action, if, you know, they actually existed.  Have You Played Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare?Mar 8, 2017 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunHave You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time. You are Kevin Spacey’s surrogate son. Look at those eyes, focused with paternalistic concern. He is placing a hand warmly upon your robot arm, the robot arm he gave you along with robot legs and probably robot other things. It’s a shame, really. It’s a shame you’ll have to kill him later. This is Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. … Call Of Fruity: Aubergine WarfareFeb 12, 2016 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunThis morning I have been documenting a fruit and vegetable market in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. I think I was supposed to be rescuing a president or something but the shiny fruit looked more interesting. I don’t mean that as a sick burn or anything. I just got distracted by some nice fruit. … Get to know this year s Golden Joysticks esports iconsOct 12, 2015 - PC GamerThere s only a week left to make sure the world knows your favourite personality in esports. Voting for the Golden Joysticks award for eSports Icon in association with Gfinity ends this Friday. PC fans have the pick of the litter as only one console game gets a look in on the nominee list, and there are players (and casters) from CS:GO, LoL, Dota 2 and Smite contending for the top spot. Head over to the site to cast your ballot, or read on below if you re undecided on who deserves the prize at the full award ceremony on October 30. Remember to vote! Not only will you enjoy the raw power of unfiltered democracy, but you ll also get a copy of BioShock Infinite for 1/$1/ 1. Dota 2: Suma1L Syed "Suma1L" Hassan wowed the world in August by capping off a truly remarkable debut year in Dota 2 with his hand in claiming the Aegis of Champions at TI5. The 15-year-old Pakistani national had a rough start at his first LAN in January, but whispers of stage fright soon faded to cries of savant. The Evil Geniuses mid player is best known for his Storm Spirit, a hero he was playing in the final game of TI5 as team-mates ppd and Universe pulled off the Six Million Dollar Echo Slam. Though his supports got the lasting glory, Suma1L often carried his team from behind on their way to the final. Here's an early example of his dominance from the TI5 group stages. Smite: MlcSt3alth Another reigning champion, Brett MlcSt3alth Felley was part of the Cognitive Prime team who won the Smite World Championships at the start of the year. Since then, not much has changed other than the team name as Cloud9 picked up the American rulers. MlcSt3alth still excels in the midlane, with an enviable synergy with his Jungler Andinster, and still puts his team in winning positions. In previous lives, St3alth could be found playing TF2, Tribes: Ascend and occasionally commentating on Call of Duty games. None of which proved as lucrative as literally playing god. Here's a roundup of his best moments from the first SWC: Hearthstone: Forsen Sebastian "Forsen" Fors has set himself apart from most Hearthstone players as a combination streaming and co-casting talent too. His multi-faceted approach to Blizzard s card game sees him turn up in almost as many places as his legion of faithful FORSENBOYS, the viewers of his chaotic streams. Despite being one of the best Miracle Rogue players in the world, he rarely places highly in Premier tournaments, a side-effect of his personal opinion of never being lucky. Perhaps your votes can change that outlook. Have a montage. Hearthstone: Reynad Andrey "Reynad" Yanyuk is the owner of Tempo Storm, the Hearthstone team he also plays under. Among his contributions to the community are conceiving and hosting the first ever Arena-style tournament, and popularising decks such as ZooLock and Aggro Warrior. Like Forsen, Reynad has also found more luck casting than playing as he was on the talent list for last weekend s Americas Championship. That said, he wa...Weekend Deal - Call of Duty Franchise, up to 67% off!Sep 17, 2015 - AnnouncementSave up to 67% on Call of Duty games as part of this week's Weekend Deal*! It concludes the Advanced Warfare zombie saga that's put stars Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, Jon Bernthal, Bruce Campbell and John Malkovich through increasingly silly versions of zombie hell. In this one the zombies wear exoskeletons and can rocket boost up to your position. They have other "enhanced abilities" too, but that's unlikely to save them from the new Trident Reflected Energy Weapon, which looks like it's been beamed in straight from Unreal Tournament. In a good way. Reckoning is out today on consoles, and there will probably be the usual month-long wait for it to arrive on PC. This is the final fling for Advanced Warfare, but series fans can look forward to Black Ops 3, which has its own very strange zombie mode featuring Jeff Goldblum and Ron Perlman. The Call of Duty series rankedJul 29, 2015 - PC GamerCall of Duty: Advanced Warfare 'Reckoning' DLC traileredJul 28, 2015 - PC GamerThe marketing men are chanting "Blops!" The Call of Duty fans are chanting "Blops!" Everybody, everywhere is chanting "Blops!"  But despite the next Call of Duty being only four few months away, Advanced Warfare isn't quite ready to be tossed aside. There's one more DLC pack due, bringing four new maps and the conclusion of the Exo Zombies story. You'll find a trailer and run-down of the maps below. Overload: Enjoy the grand view of downtown New Baghdad from this exotic compound, complete with fountains, gardens and decorative plasma lamps. The map s multiple levels and long perimeter site-lines highlight medium to long-range combat and firing a shot at the lamps will send enemies flying in a burst of energy. Quarantine: Following a deadly viral outbreak, the island has been converted into a biological testing centre. This medium sized map s tight corners dial up the speed and open areas combine to allow for any style of gameplay. Activate the map-based scorestreak to unleash a devastating ship-fired missile strike. Fracture: Discover what secrets are locked in the ice in this arctic excavation site. Take refuge behind wind turbines and heavy equipment through large combat areas cradled on the shelf of a glacier. Stay alert as the timed event cracks the ice sheet, sending one lane sinking to the depths. Swarm: Reconstruction is underway in Seoul, South Korea, congesting narrow corridors of this small to medium sized map with vehicles and equipment. Take position in war-scarred storefronts that provide plenty of cover over the streets or flank the enemy through close quarter interiors in the centre of the map. They're always such aggressive verbs, aren't they. You'll never find a Call of Duty map called "Chat," or "Relax," or "Frolic". The Reckoning DLC is out on August 4 for the Xboxes, with the PC version arriving a few weeks later. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 'Reckoning' map pack will be its lastJul 27, 2015 - PC GamerThe season for major blockbuster video game releases is fast approaching. You can tell, because here's news of the final Call of Duty DLC pack for the year. To neatly tie off Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare before Black Ops 3 arrives, the Reckoning DLC pack will release some time "soon" with four new maps. That's the trailer above. All maps are built around the Exo Grapple mechanic, though if you'd prefer not to play in matches with that feature you still can. Meanwhile, the final chapter in the "Exo Zombies saga" will feature in the form of Descent, which stars the likes of Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, John Malkovich and Bruce Campbell.  Details on the four multiplayer player maps are below. Reckoning releases next month for Xbox (due to a timed exclusivity agreement) but it'll be out on PC some time after.
