Production-minded Astroneers can create fresh toys via the Small Printer using Scrap and other resources. It is curious that shipping containers keep crash-landing on planets in the Sylva System around this time each year... what’s going on with EXO’s logistics department? Must be a weird glitch in their subroutines. Maybe that explains the weird containers ERROR//LU-C1D filtration at 63% HelpHelpHelp that have been reported on Sylva, Desolo, and Calidor. This curious contraption seems to be an evolution on EXO’s recreational line of enrichment items, ingeniously augmented with a gyro-stabilized control platform in its interior. While simplistic in its appearance, the Gravity Globe harnesses some of EXO’s most advanced technologies, allowing it to roll against gravity (within reason), and even perform small ‘hops’ to clear minor obstacles. Just like the more primitive Recreational Spheres, the Gravity Globe is an ideal enrichment activity for all Astroneers (and other sentient beings, where appropriate). Gravity Globes can sometimes be found on EXO wreckage: most commonly on abandoned spaceports, but occasionally attached to derelict rover chassis (for what purpose remains unknown). They can additionally be acquired via the Trade Platform. Trade Platform: 8x Astronium Shredding Output: 1x Scrap Power Draw: Portable Smelter A new, rare crafting item has been added to boost refinement of valuable resources. This small item is extremely versatile and can be used to process nuggets on-the-go in your Backpack, to bootstrap a new base, or as part of an intricate automated production network. Portable smelters can sometimes be found on EXO wreckage while exploring or can be acquired via the Trade Platform. Trade Platform: 8x Astronium Shredding Output: 2x Scrap Power Draw: 2 Power per second Curious Items Something... new... has been observed appearing in Abandoned Backpacks found across planets in the Sylva System. It’s unclear exactly what has caused these objects to manifest; further information and experimentation are needed. Caution is advised when interacting with LRD Behavior New Emote – Dizzy A new emote - “Dizzy” - has been added to the core game. This emote can be unlocked by which can certainly make an Astroneer become dizzy! Store - New Items Available Now! New Suit: Galastro Suit New Mask: Mecha Snail New Palette: Toasty New Emote: Greet the Dawn EXO F.A.R.M. It’s time again to gather hard-working Astroneers and band together for EXO Dynamics in the Fuel Acquisition, Renewal & Maintenance event! Sturdysquash are in season and can be farmed in bulk to be processed in Cauldrangea plants. Ship off the products to EXO for points and rewards! Find Wild Sturdysquash that can be harvested for their seeds on Sylva, Calidor, or Atrox; use these seeds to grow offspring that yield Sturdysquash Samples Each of the featured planets have a unique variety of Wild Sturdysquash which yield different quantities of seeds Sturdysquash Samples can be placed in Medium and Large Resource Canisters to keep your farms tidy Locate Cauldrangea plants on Sylva, Calidor, or Atrox – but beware of the hazards that tend to grow nearby! Use the Cauldrangeas to produce one of three types of biofuel. Compass navpoints appear to indicate nearby Cauldrangea. The Rails System brings a new mode of transportation to Astroneer that excels at efficiency and convenience. Place rail posts to build out your rail lines, and then board the new railway vehicles for a hands-free transit experience. And unlike other vehicles, railway vehicles can travel autonomously, perfect for extending the reach of your automation network. But that’s not all: rail lines themselves carry both oxygen and power, making them an excellent way to connect together distant bases and excavation sites like never before! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10546736/9dbeaeb4a8448d40fc8ed26796f6f42c5d61e013.png Railway Vehicles The Catalog has been updated with two new vehicles custom-built for the Rails System. Railway vehicles can be used individually or chained together into trains up to six vehicles long. Just make sure you have enough power to run them; each vehicle in a train increases its power draw! Fortunately, the Catalog has also been updated with a range of railway items for building out the rail network of your dreams. Rail Posts (Standard & Tall) The backbone of every rail line. This will not retroactively unlock items whose achievements were already completed, so players will either need to complete the required actions again, or contact player support for help. Controller Fixed a bug where players using a controller could not close the Qbit store menu (this did not affect Switch players) Snails Fixed a bug where Enoki’s (Atrox Snail) buff would get removed when the player sits in any seat Fixed the issue where a resource nugget could get stuck in the Xenobiology Lab Slotting a seed on top of Enoki’s terrarium no longer causes the buff to stack, giving players super speed and jump height Crashes Fixed various crashes: , , , Dedicated Servers Fixed an issue where compass navpoints were not properly showing up on servers. This could still happen occasionally, but should be less frequent, and can be worked around by restarting the server. Audio Reverb has been restored to cavern layers on all platforms, except for Switch, where this is intentionally disabled for performance reasons. Localization Fixed a bug in the Astropedia on the Sylva page where the Japanese translation for power would extend past the bounds of the box Fixed an inconsistency in Dutch, where two different words were being used as the translation for Compound Fixed an incorrect translation for the gas canisters in Spanish New Japanese translation for “Steel” Updated Japanese translation for general Platform description Fixed an inconsistency in the French translation for “packager” Fixed an issue in Japanese where the Medium Shredder had the incorrect value for power usage Fixed a bug where “Visit the Unidentified Satellite” was missing all non-English translations in the mission log Fixed a bug where there was an incorrect translation in Dutch on the Glacio planet tooltip in the solar system view. This translation error was giving players bad info about power sources on Glacio. The following is still a known issue as of version 1.23.132.0: For Steam players: There were a number of crashes related to players who had a mod loader installed. Astroneer doesn’t support mods, so if you are having persistent crash issues, make sure you disable any installed mods. This shouldn’t impact players without mods so if you are crashing don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]! Clients cannot interact with oxygenator on the Xenobiology lab when it’s packaged. This can be worked around by 1. Hosts interacting with the packaged item (if not on a server) 2. Using an auto-arm to remove the packaged item or 3. Using a proximity repeater to open the packaged item Xenobiology UpdateJan 13, 2022 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10546736/9d7b01f9ff7688993eeaeb64d8610b20b9412756.pngFeature Updates Galastropods “Space Snails” are now a part of the universe of Astroneer. Event Grab your fellow Astroneers and use your expertise to assist EXO Dynamics in the Fuel Acquisition, Renewal & Maintenance event! Seasonal Sturdysquash have sprouted in the solar system and it’s up to you to cultivate and harvest them. Combine their valuable produce inside unique Cauldrangea plants to create valuable biofuel to send to EXO. Cauldrangea can be interacted with to cycle through their current biofuel recipe for production. Each of the featured planets have a unique variety of Cauldrangea with different production speeds. Different biofuels can be produced using different ingredients; the rarer the ingredients, the more the produced biofuel is worth: Squasholine: 15 Points Sturdysquash Samples Attapetrol: 35 Points Sturdysquash Samples + Mutant Spiny Attactus Seeds Noxothane: 50 Points Sturdysquash Samples + Mutant Elegant Spewflower Seeds EXO Dynamics rewards biofuel contributions with: 800 Points – Biofuel Throwback Bundle Contains cosmetics rewarded from previous years: Hat: ”Hallowed Helm” Visor: ”Spooky” Visor: ”Pumpkin” Visor: ”Endless” Palette: ”Spooky” 2400 Points – Emote: ”Giddyup” 5600 Points – Cosmetic T4 Shelter Throwback: “PUM-KN Shelter” 8000 Points – Hat: ”Honest Living” Useful incremental rewards are included along the way to bolster your harvesting capabilities. Proximity Repeater A new activation item is available in the Catalog. Unlike other sensors and repeaters, the Proximity Repeater activates all items within its radius instead of requiring the use off segment pins. This makes it great for quick automation setups, or in cases where wired connections aren’t practical, such as planting seeds, scanning research items, or bulk packaging and...Someone got Space Invaders playable in AstroneerSep 5, 2021 - PCGamesNDespite being basically space-Minecraft, it feels like we hear about people making crazy things in Minecraft a lot more than Astroneer. Now one talented creator has addressed this imbalance by building a giant, functioning, playable Space Invaders cabinet in the game - complete with score and multiple increasing difficulty levels. Streamer and computer engineering student Tyler Hill has completed his 'Astro Invaders' project by making a fully functional Space Invaders arcade machine within Astroneer. You can check it out working on his YouTube here or in the tweet below, and if you've got the game Tyler provides a save file so players can try it out themselves. There are switches to up the difficulty, reset the machine and the scoreboard - oh yes, there's a working scoreboard too - and the ability to move the little Space Invaders spaceship and shoot the descending aliens. It won't quite be troubling Taito, but it's still a ridiculously impressive achievement - and even more so once Tyler lifts the hood and shows how he did it. Read the rest of the story... This hotfix is right on the edge of a hotfix and an update, as we are including some changes to the Jet Powered update that should help make sure the update is working as intended. Updates and Tuning Increased likelihood of getting 2 or 3 EXO chips from an EXO Cache Dynamite can now spawn on wrecked rovers and platform POIs Increased server bandwidth limits, which should result in improved connection and load times on dedicated servers Improved terrain performance on dedicated servers Hoverboard and VTOL now appear in the catalog with the explainer that Mission completion is required to unlock them Updated some of the mission description text to make objective requirements clearer While we really like EXO Chips, especially because they add some gameplay for Dynamite, we also want to make sure that people don't feel like their hard work opening caches was not yielding enough of a reward. The tuning changes should make sure that you should be receiving more chips more often. EXO Chips are just another new resource, but with a different way of obtaining them! Also, while we didn't talk about this in the initial update, we are exploring ways we can add more options for obtaining chips for those Astroneers who really don't want to leave their bases. More on that soon! Bugs The following are still known issues as of version 1.20.274.0: There may still be some instances where mission objects don’t spawn on Vesania or Desolo, however in these cases the mission objectives should auto-complete to avoid being unable to complete the mission. There are a few item and resource tooltips in the tutorial that are missing translations for non-English languages The following bugs have been fixed as of version 1.20.274.0: Vehicle Missions Vehicle Data Recorders and EXO Caches can now be blown up by dynamite that is not directly attached to it Players whose Data Recorders and MATs fail to spawn should now have their objective auto-complete to unstick their mission progress Updated some of the mission description text to make objective requirements clearer Miscellaneous Fixed a bug where objects would not be destroyed by dynamite if detonated with more than one piece of dynamite attached Fixed a bug in the hologram tooltips for Wolframite and Titanite, which incorrectly stated they were produced by a smelting furnace Fixed a spelling error in English in the mission objective for the “Through the Looking Glass” mission Fixed a bug where several mission descriptions and objectives were missing their non-English translations Fixed some resource translation errors across several languages VTOL Fixed an issue with the VTOL where the camera would clip through when landing on a non-terrain surface Fixed a bug where the VFX on the VTOL thrusters were slightly misaligned while flying Fixed the VTOL tooltip to be more centered on the VTOL object The VTOL can no longer take off when not on a planet Starting Medium printers n...Astroneer now lets you kickflip across planets on hoverboardsJun 23, 2021 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunI might have to return to Astroneer. I played it a lot when it was first released, but drifted away like George Clooney in the movie Gravity. What’s grabbing my attention now, a whole two years after the initial release? They just added hoverboards in a new update. I will now return to it, also like George Clooney in the movie Gravity, but without the terrible twist.
