Following the release of the Arcade Playlists, we saw a lot of feedback about the desire to more meaningfully influence the Extra Modes in these slots. And while we understand some players want their favorite modes in the game permanently, it’s important that we balance the number of active modes to ensure high quality matches and reasonable matchmaking times. Today we’re excited to introduce the new Dueling Arcade Playlist system to help address the above feedback. This new system allows the community to keep a favorite mode in the game almost indefinitely! Like before, there are two Arcade Playlists that rotate through existing Extra Modes. With the new system, the most popular mode after a week will remain available the next week, while the less popular one will cycle out and return at a later date. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9036925/7956dac1527ea264a66e979691e4c9aa513a6cfd.jpg If the two Extra Modes are generally unpopular on a given week, we’ll replace both the next week with Extra Modes we expect will be more exciting to the community. What if there’s an LTM active? The LTM will replace one of the Arcade Playlist slots and the dueling Arcade Playlists system will be paused. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9036925/32dbb58feaaae7c97aaf3b7c9ab81b25baa2f4c7.jpg The first two Extra Modes in this new system are Speed Demon and Rocket Labs Medley. We hope this system helps you get more play time with your favorite modes! -- THAT’S NOT ALL - SEASON 13 SEASON RUSH STARTS SOON! In addition, we have changed the design that previously allowed players to play ranked if they were partied with an individual above the minimum level requirement. Now, no player below the level threshold (20) will be able to enter the ranked experience. Party leaders with a member below the level threshold will see their playlist locked and will need to queue in the Casual Playlist. Updated Minimum Level Messaging - To convey these new restrictions, players will see new messaging in Rocket League when queuing for the Competitive Playlist. While solo (not in a party) the new messaging will read: “You must be Level 20 or higher.” While in a party, the new messaging will read: “All party members must be Level 20 or higher.” These messages will be displayed to any player who is below Level 20 / any party leader in a party with someone who is below Level 20.DISABLING “LEAVE TOURNAMENT” BUTTON AT END OF MATCH In order to prevent players from receiving negative consequences, such as temporary bans from tournaments/matchmaking, or losing earned tournament rewards, we will now grey out/disable the “Leave Tournament'' button at the 0:00 gameplay mark of Tournament matches. This will ensure your rewards are earned and all data is properly populated so you can jump right into your next match.NEW CONTENTMANDALORIAN MAYHEM LIMITED TIME EVENT Unlock new items by completing Mandalorian Mayhem Event Challenges. Tomorrow’s game update adds a new anti-smurfing measure: a higher Competitive Minimum Level Requirement. The update also refreshes the Esports Shop for the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2024 Season. Read on for more details! -- NEW MINIMUM LEVEL FOR THE COMPETITIVE PLAYLIST We’ve seen a lot of community chatter lately around allowing players to bypass the minimum level required to play in the Competitive Playlist by partying up with other players. Smurfing is something that we know is frustrating, so we wanted to share a bit of the design philosophy behind that original decision and why we are making some changes in tomorrow’s update. The Competitive Minimum Level Requirement was introduced when Rocket League became playable for free in 2020 and was meant to serve a couple of purposes. While we wanted to make it more difficult to smurf, one of the main goals was to make sure that new players were not blocked from playing with friends. The Casual experience back then was rife with early quitting and was considered by many as a less enjoyable experience. We therefore made the decision to let players experience Rocket League in the best way possible at that time, with friends in the Competitive Playlist. At that time we also started making changes to the Casual Playlist, with the goal of making it an equally enjoyable experience to Competitive play. We now feel we’ve reached that goal, and because of that, our thinking has changed around the need to allow players to bypass the Competitive Minimum Level Requirement. In tomorrow’s update, the Competitive Minimum Level Requirement will be raised from Level 10 to Level 20, and now every player in a Party will need to be Level 20 or higher in order to queue for the Competitive Playlist. These changes are some of several gameplay improvements we are working on this year to minimize behavior that can lead to unfair matches. -- ESPORTS SHOP 2024 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9036925/effc0d6c7b46508901fc38e421b376200d0839e4.jpg With the official RLCS broadcasts beginning last weekend and continuing this weekend on February 9 for Europe, there’s no better time to grab new team gear! Fortnite and Rocket League crash together to form Rocket Racing - launching tomorrowDec 7, 2023 - VG247A new game experience is coming to Fortnite, this time featuring some of that high octane football you know and love from Rocket League. You can jump in and play Rocket Racing inside Fortnite starting tomorrow, December 9 2023. The trailer itself - shown off at The Game Awards - is a cinematic one. So we don't know exacly how it'll play. But, judging from the LEGO Fortnite release we all jumped into today, it'll probably be quite distinct from the base game. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long to play it. It all looks like Tim Sweeny's metaverse push is seriously in-action. This was first put out there in 2022 when Sony invested heavily in the idea, and recently they doubled down on that recently too. It's a real shame that at the same time, folks from the Epic Games suffered from layoffs earlier this year. Yes, that Eminem. The guy who was very cheeky and popular in the late 90s and early 2000s, and has remained kind of cheeky and popular ever since. He can still do a decent tease though, as the grandmothers of the world have found out. Following a bunch of speculation that Mr Nem might be participating in the event or at least receiving his own in-game skin, the rapper has shared a teaser for his arrival in Fortnite on Twitter. In the short clip, we get a nice shot of the Earth that soon zooms in on a family’s television, which is soon emblazoned with the Fortnite logo followed by a backwards letter E. We wanted to give you an early look at some incoming changes to Rocket League's Play Menu next Season. To start, the Play Menu is getting a facelift for the first time since Rocket League became playable for free in 2020. Featuring a new squared-off design, each submenu will have a streamlined layout which will help old and new players alike navigate through the Play Menu easier and more quickly. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9036925/8e7fc2c6cc37934107bc76b67ce32227a6c4d054.jpg Not final version - for illustration only. Along with a fresh look, we are changing where some Online Playlists and other modes live in the new Play Menu. We are combining Competitive Playlists and Extra Modes Playlists into one new Competitive card, which allows you to queue for up to six different Competitive Playlists at once. Fulfilling a long-standing community request, you will finally be able to queue for modes like 3v3 Standard and 2v2 Hoops at the same time. As part of this consolidation, we are going to alternate between Competitive Snow Day and Dropshot each Season. Next Season will feature Competitive Snow Day, the one after that will include Competitive Dropshot, and so on. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9036925/e0658c715a06ff3aba1524d55904503cce6224cc.jpgNot final version - for illustration only. Big changes are coming to the Casual card as well, including two new Arcade Playlists. These will rotate weekly through Extra Modes like Heatseeker, Spike Rush, Rocket Labs modes, and more! Dropshot and Snow Day will also appear in the Arcade rotation whenever one is not an active Competitive Playlist, so expect to see Dropshot pop up next Season. Along with these new Playlists, 4v4 Chaos is evolving into a new Big Party Playlist, rotating weekly between 4v4 Chaos and Knockout. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9036925/0e6a7732ea4b58965b45537a506fd5a5633ce4c7.jpgNot final version - for illustration only. Exhibition Mode, Season Mode, and Workshop Maps will now live in their own Play Offline card, and the new Private Match card contains both Private Match and LAN Match options. Training has all the same options you know and love, just with an updated look. Finally, we’re making a few additional quality-of-life changes to the Play Menu: You can join an existing Private Match directly from Training or an Offline Match. Load and launch a different Workshop map when in a Workshop map already. When in a party, you can now see your Rank even when you are not the Party Leader. While this covers what you should expect alongside the next Season, we’re not quite done with changes and additions to the Play Menu. Our goal in the first few months of 2024 is to give you even more influence over the modes that appear in the Arcade Playlist, which we’ll talk about more in the new year. Along with new, different ways to play, we’re actively working on other quality-of-life improvements that touch on important community-driven topics, includin...Season Rush Returns to Rocket LeagueNov 20, 2023 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/9036925/d5ee5ea2efdad3b2ca5fec6006cb6c5422d67a21.png Season 12 has entered the home stretch, and Season Rush is back to help you unlock whatever Rocket Pass Tiers remain between you and your goals for the end of the Season! Now Rocket League is free-to-play, just where you play it has changed since its launch back in 2015. Rocket League was removed from the Steam store in 2020, but there are still various ways to play it through Steam depending on when you purchased or downloaded the game. Rocket League is now a Epic Games exclusive and you can only download it for free through the Epic Games Store by either visiting the store directly or via the Rocket League website, which directs you to the Epic Games Store. But positive word-of-mouth resulted in the game quickly exploding in popularity. And by the end of its first month on Steam, Rocket League saw its playerbase spike up to an average of 12.8k players per hour. Since then, Rocket League has shown no signs of slowing down with the playerbase continuing to increase. And now, Rocket League is celebrating its second year on Steam with a current average of 39k players per hour – a number that’s twenty times the game’s debut playerbase and that keeps it in Steam’s daily top 10 most played list. [caption id="attachment_276892" align="aligncenter" width="800"] Rocket League's Average Players per Hour via GitHyp[/caption] Most recently, the developers at Psyonix discounted Rocket League by 40% during the Steam Summer Sale -- reducing the price from $19.99 to $11.99 -- which they've done multiple times since the game's release. However, it was actually the dev’s big Year 2 update featuring a new map, Rick and Morty content, and the first-ever double drop-rate weekend that resulted in a 28% increase in players right after the sale. Rocket League’s constant updates and lack of competition are two of the biggest factors attributed to its player gains. Aside from Psyonix’s own previous game on PlayStation 3, 2008’s Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, there’s nothing quite like Rocket League to challenge it and steal away players. And until there is, Rocket League’s playerbase is on track to continue increasing on Steam with the devs already announcing tons of new content on the way.
