Despite the imminent release of Far Cry 6, its predecessor Far Cry 5 continues to impress with its fan-created offerings - making it even more annoying that Far Cry 6 won't ship with a level editor. Despite the limited tools available to map creators in Far Cry Arcade, there are some fantastic remakes available - including the likes of Counter-Strike and Hotline Miami. The remakes of Project IGI and IGI 2 were made by user gregorpl123, otherwise known as GregorOnline on YouTube (thanks, DSOGaming). They completely remade all 14 missions of Project IGI and all 19 missions of the sequel in Far Cry 5, and they're all freely available to play by just going into Far Cry Arcade and searching for "IGI". After confirming the levels had been pulled, creator Krollywood said a few days ago he intended to "change some details like names and re-upload them as soon as possible," and it seems that's now happened. Krollywood confirmed in a Reddit comment that the levels have been reuploaded to Far Cry 5's arcade mode under the name "Golden Cry". To find them on PS4 you'll need to search for the creator name "Perfect-Dark1982", and on PC the creator name is "Graslu00". Krollywood spent two and a half years recreating the 18 GoldenEye 007 levels in Far Cry 5's level editor, and you can hear a little about how he did it in the video below: Read more Finally, someone put a Greggs in Far Cry 5Jun 28, 2021 - PC GamerFighting pseudo-religious cultists is hungry work, especially when Montana lacks a ready supply of cheap sausage rolls. Original story: A Far Cry fan spent three years and around 1,400 hours completely remaking Nintendo 64 classic GoldenEye using Far Cry 5's Arcade map editor - only to have Ubisoft delete it as soon as it was complete, thanks to "copyright infringement claims" from rights holder MGM. YouTuber Krollywood painstakingly recreated GoldenEye - still the greatest James Bond game and one of the best FPS games of all time - within Far Cry 5 and had basically finished it, barring the two bonus levels, only to find them gone earlier this week. In a statement by Ubisoft (thanks Kotaku), the publisher explained that the maps "have been removed due to copyright infringement claims from a right holder" - meaning MGM, who somehow found out about the remake (thanks Kotaku... kidding). (more…) Far Cry 5’s Launch Crushes Previous Entries in the Series with Over 5 Times the Players on SteamApr 6, 2018 - GitHypOver the past few years, things haven't looked great for the Far Cry franchise. Switching the story and setting from futuristic to modern to even prehistoric...  it didn't seem like there was anything Ubisoft could do to bring back as many players as 2012's Far Cry 3. But the developer’s choice this year to leave behind the franchise’s signature exotic locals and come to good ‘ol America has resulted in the Far Cry series once again exploding in popularity. Far Cry 5's launch on Steam wasn't just the biggest Far Cry launch ever with a peak of 92k concurrent players, but also the second biggest launch ever for a Ubisoft game. This year's latest in series absolutely crushed every other Far Cry game bringing in over five times the number of players on Steam. Last year's Far Cry: Primal only saw a peak of 14.7k players -- which was down from Far Cry 4’s 17k concurrent players in 2014. And Far Cry 4 was already down 26% from Far Cry 3’s peak of 23k players. [caption id="attachment_343163" align="aligncenter" width="770"] Far Cry 5's Peak Concurrent Players on Steam via GitHyp[/caption] Far Cry 5’s 92k players also easily topped For Honor’s 71k players last year on Steam... but, FC5 was just as far away from topping Ubisoft’s biggest launch ever, The Division, and its 114k players on Steam back in 2016. Another huge contributor to the game’s success has been its popularity on Twitch. Far Cry: Primal had an impressive peak of 73k concurrent viewers and ranked in at #3 on Twitch. Far Cry 5 again crushed that number with a peak of 250k concurrent viewers, taking the #1 spot on Twitch on its launch day. Aside from Rainbow Six: Siege, Ubisoft's games tend to have a short shelf life after huge launches. Far Cry 5's hype on Twitch has already died down, but is still in Steam’s top 10 most played list, and its combination of co-op and return of the popular map editor should keep the player base from dropping off as quickly as past games in the series.
