This chapter, we wanted to further explore the styles of the Zingarans and the mercenaries at their employ - so today, let’s take a look at some Zingaran themed rewards included in Age of War - Chapter 4’s Battle Pass!   {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/632de48f77fdd769bc0dbc7be28fb6735759ee24.jpg ZINGARAN MERCENARY Zingarans are a refined, complex people, and we wanted to reflect the sophistication with which their nobility would adorn sellswords and soldiers. Zingara’s frequent contact with the pirates of the Barachan Isles would also influence their armor and clothing, adding a maritime appearance on top of the pomp. https://global.discourse-cdn.com/funcom/original/3X/1/4/147d55a88c7e34e648692e3685db2c20e15091ae.gif A GOOD BOY ON GUARD Along with their navy, the Zingarans were also renowned for their swordsmanship - specifically, in the art of fencing! You’ll be able to obtain a Zingaran Rapier as a one-hand sword variant, and even a special weapon emote later on! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/063038ed83595ab342168c8fd9327602781e21e9.jpg The Zingaran Mercenary Guard Dog, inspired by the real-world Spanish Mastiff, is an excellent lad and also a pet you can earn from the Battle Pass! We’ll see you on the Sacred Hunt. Age of War - Chapter 4: Hotfix News & MoreApr 5, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings Exiles! Age of War - Chapter 4 is well underway, and we've been busy delving into your comments and thoughts from the update! We'd like to take a moment to share some info around the release, clarify some things, and give you a heads-up on what's immediately ahead: Amended Patch Notes There were some additional changes to stamina regen, crafting balance, and Official Server harvest rates introduced in Chapter 4 that were not included in the patch notes on release. We've updated the patch notes to reflect these changes. You can find the updated notes HERE. An Upcoming Hotfix! We are currently preparing a hotfix with the *aim* of releasing later next week. - the following hot issues are among those to be addressed: Return of the the custom item split window A better solution for items not being able to be moved consistently within or between inventory containers Right click once again consumes items Selecting Items on the radial wheel will provide item information Using torches and bindings while mounted Additional tweaks for Fatalities Bearer Thrall HP changes reverted *(for now)* As soon as we have more details on the contents and release date for the hotfix, we'll let you know. Thank you for your continued feedback! Battle Pass In Chapter 4, we revamped the way you earn XP and progress through your Battle Pass. Unfortunately, precise details of this revamp were not properly communicated to you, and we apologize for any confusion or panic caused in the opening days of the update. Here's how Battle Pass XP now works, in a bit more detail: Every week, three (3) Challenges are rotated in. Challenges each always grant 2500 XP upon completion. Defeating NPC foes grants XP per kill, varying between types of enemies. Harmless creatures like prey animals grant minuscule amounts of XP, while tougher foes like World Bosses grant significantly more; up to 100 XP per kill. Manually crafting items in benches grants some XP. You do not gain XP from crafting "basic" items from your inventory such as twine, toches, repair hammers, and the like. You also do not gain XP from automated crafting stations such as Furnaces. Crafting Epic items grants more XP than crafting normal items. Harvesting resources provides a small amount of XP. The amount remains the same regardless of what you harvest. The amount of XP required to progress a level in your Battle Pass has not changed (1000 XP) We know these are significant changes to how Battle Pass progression works, so we're keeping a close eye on this. Known Issues We're currently aware of and investigating reports of the following: Dying of “Falling through the world” in certain specific locations Occasionally logging in with your character partially inside foundations UI Text may be difficult to read on large displays Occasional performance ‘hitch’ on consoles when navigating menus Followers do not engage ambushers from the Sacred Hunt Client crashes in specific areas on Isle of Siptah We sincerely appreciate t...Age of War – Chapter 4 is here. Chapter 3 is reaching its conclusion soon, so today we wanted to go over some things the intrepid exile may want to keep stock of before Chapter 4 releases on April 2nd! That’s tomorrow! You’ll be facing Jhebbal Sag’s Chosen, clashing steel against new foes in Purges, spilling blood with Fatalities, and even progress your Battle Pass more naturally. Let’s dive in: BE YOU HUNTER OR PREY? The Sacred Hunt is a new limited-time event featuring the beast-god Jhebbal Sag and his champions. You can learn more about this event and the challenges you’ll face HERE! One thing you’ll need to keep in mind is some of this new content is accessed from *after* the Siege of al-Merayah – if you haven’t stormed the fortress yet, we suggest completing that encounter before Chapter 4 releases so you can experience the new event as it unfolds. Don’t worry – al-Merayah and its fortress are not going anywhere and will remain in place after Chapter 3 ends. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/9285cb3a64cb9adba9c9c9611c1a0431c50f422e.jpg BLOODIER PURGES The Stygian Legion, not to be outdone by exiled rabble, have bolstered their Purges with fearsome sorcery and shadowy subterfuge. Clans guarding high-value coffers now must contend with new threats such as exploding golems, raining meteors, and thieves sneaking about! If you and your allies plan to take on the upper echelons of the Legion’s might, plan accordingly and augment your defenses, like with the new Ballista! If you’re filling your base out with guards, Chapter 4 also introduces revamp commands for all your Followers, making fighting alongside them easier than ever. Unleash Savage Fatalities and Take on Expanded Purges in Chapter 4!Mar 25, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings Exiles, With only a few days to go before Age of War – Chapter 4 digs its claws into you, we want to give you a deep dive into everything we’re bringing to the game. Last week, we covered the new Sacred Hunt Event, and today, we have a feast of different features and improvements to show you. Let's dig in. Fatalities If there is glory in gore, you will find it in Chapter 4. In this feature inspired by the Fatalities in Age of Conan, you will be able to finish off enemy human NPCs with spectacularly savage kill moves; one for each of the melee weapon types in the game. When an attack would otherwise kill your foe, there is a chance that they will instead enter a dazed state. If you perform a starting attack (not mid-combo) on them during this brief period, you will perform a Fatality, and be awarded with a chunk of health and stamina, along with a temporary damage buff. Three details are worth emphasizing. First, if you don’t perform the finisher, the enemy will fall dead at the end of their dazed state; second, while performing a Fatality, you are immune to damage; and third, Fatalities only work on enemy human NPCs, not beasts, monsters, or players. Go forth and slay, Exiles. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/04b4efd31a7ad49b2069a53d9f91ed99f78b002e.png Expanded Purges When we introduced the revamped Purges in Chapter 2, we fully intended to build upon those foundations later. In Chapter 4, we’re adding a new defensive ballista, and several new types of enemies. Thieves: Have invisibility, can unlock your doors, and go straight for your treasure horde. Golems: A sorcerer summons two kinds of golems. Axe-wielding golems will focus on killing defenders, while the jarhead golems will use their mauls to bring down your fortifications and explode a few seconds after death, dealing damage to everything around them. Sorcerer: This powerful sorcerer will stand outside your base and perform a ritual to bring down meteors upon your base. You must leave the safety of your defenses and slay the sorcerer, before the meteors can do too much damage. Stygian Champion: This hulking warrior is not to be taken lightly, and will be clearly visible by the formation of his retinue of guards. Ballista: This new siege weapon is controlled manually by the player and fires powerful bolts that penetrate through enemies. Line up a good shot and annihilate your attackers. The ballista can also fire ammunition which is good at taking down player-built structures. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/aa3e5366cf1334f34608b3bb5509ac37c39af70f.png Inventory and Follower Quality of Life Commanding followers is easier than ever in Chapter 4. Rather than setting follower behavior through a radial wheel, you can now do it through a single menu when you interact with your follower, and with more granularity than before. Importantly, these choices will not be wiped. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/2fa26600a55fe2b21bc6680d48ccf9997ee4a2ad.png The radial wheel still exists but is only used for i...Answer the Call of the Wilds in Age of War – Chapter 4.Mar 20, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings Exiles, With a great snarling and snapping of teeth, Age of War – Chapter 4 approaches. When it arrives on April 2, keep your back to the wall, and scan the moonlit land for movement. In the Sacred Hunt, the roles of predator and prey are only revealed when blood has already soaked the earth. In today’s feature blog, we will explore the Sacred Hunt Event, how to take part in it, the awards that await, and the terrifying beast that stirs at the heart of it all. Will you prove yourself a match for Jhebbal Sag’s Champions? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/01782858b2aec5f9d622cbd9cb697a49af1082c6.jpg A New Camp Once the update has arrived and night has fallen, the hunt begins. In the wilds at night, Werehyenas are ambushing lone travelers. Meet them with iron and steel. Should you survive, make sure to loot their bodies, as they may have a map on them with clues to your next destination. Alternatively, you may see a mysterious light in the sky. Follow it, and you will find the camp of Jhebbal Sag. Here you will meet the Bloody Tongue of Jhebbal Sag, a priest of the Lord of Beasts, who will tell you more about her patron and his Sacred Hunt. When Stygia, in their arrogance and avarice, trampled across the wilds to invade the Exiled Lands, the wilds took note. Now, Jhebbal Sag has called for a Sacred Hunt, and woe betide anyone who gets in its way. Beneath the ruins of al-Merayah, a cave has been discovered. There, you may discover more hints at what Stygia disturbed. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/141436b3f8ad993caa0434f115e67637183eee82.png Speaking to the Bloody Tongue of Jhebbal Sag, you can choose to opt out of the Sacred Hunt, and should you wish to return to it, you can do that too, at any point. Opting out of the Sacred Hunt will prevent you from being ambushed at night, but as you will see, the hunt avails the survivor. Werehyenas you slay will drop fangs which you can take to the camp vendor to purchase a wide range of new cosmetic recipes, including but not limited to the Throne of Jhebbal Sag, the Statue of Jhebbal the Skull Warhammer, various wall paints, and even a Werehyena Hunter Companion. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/2b9d36e21a21a1cb37858e4c5bd688a56e67ea64.jpg Challenge the Champions Should you wish to gain the favor of Jhebbal Sag, you must hunt his champions. These formidable beasts, branded by Jhebbal Sag, are spread across the land, and must be summoned with special lures. The lures can be acquired from the camp vendor with fangs. Armor has no place in these savage struggles of will. Shed it and adorn yourself in the ritual war paint of Jhebbal Sag. Weapons, on the other hand, are permitted. Defeating a single Champion will not impress Jhebbal Sag. Your goal is to best them all, and with a prize collected from each, you will bike ready to face the final Champion. The journey to its lair will require travel not by land but by spirit. The Bloody Tongue of Jhebbal Sag will give you the details on how to walk this path. This new event brings a new story, hub location, great enemies to fell, and more. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/5b3e34a06a62bad9c4452e17da4770ee515bef1f.jpg Expanded Purges – More and more eyes, filled with avarice, turn to your home, bringing new kinds of threats, including foul sorcerers, lock-picking thieves, and more. As the threats amass outside your walls, your defenses rise to meet them with the new ballista. Fatalities – Brutality returns to Conan Exiles! Finish off dazed enemies in a variety of gloriously gory cinematic animations. Dismemberment is not optional. Improved Battle Pass Progression – Based on community feedback, we are improving how Battle Pass experience is earned. Firstly, there will be fewer challenges, but they will be bigger and more involved. On top of these bigger chunks of XP, you will progress at a steady rate from most activities you perform while playing, to avoid the feeling that you need to play a certain way to progress. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/e4a9f57e35d0fd1fc2bc587e4ae4f30626b05e75.jpg Discover more in our Livestream On March 8, at 17:00 CET / 11:00 ET, Join Associate Game Director Dennis Douthett and Lead Community Managers Andy Benditt and Nicole Rasner as they show off some of the new features in Chapter 4. Your ongoing support drives our efforts to develop fresh content for the game. Let’s look back at the year’s highlights and some of the hurdles we’re determined to overcome. Five Years of Adventure 2023 was a big deal here as we celebrated the 5th Launch Anniversary of Conan Exiles on May 8. This marked half a decade since we’ve been developing content and playing this game together. Our journey, including our Steam Early Access launch, now spans over six years – a testament to the game’s enduring appeal and your continued support. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/e84d0c20e5446796f2b9857997cb45b81796dc13.png Switching to the Age system back in 2022 was a huge decision, and this past year has shown the advantages of constant releases and a regular cadence. In 2023, we wrapped up Age of Sorcery with its 3rd chapter and released Age of War – Chapter 1 along with its 2nd and 3rd Chapters. You’ve tested your skills against Kurak as well as the Stygian Legion, and you’ve expanded your settlements with Clan Hoards, Emblems, and now Taverns. You’ve bolstered your defenses with Golems and guard stations so you could withstand the full wrath of revamped Purges, and even took the fight to the enemy in the Siege of al-Merayah. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/6642f9d86083d43d07f672641a4cb73507461695.jpg This amount of content, coupled with updates to existing core features like Combat and the Journey System, has all been possible to develop and add to the game for free thanks to the Age and Chapter system. This community’s creativity and passion were remarkable in 2023, and the team appreciates all you do immensely. We’re thrilled to roll out our new Creator Program and would like to thank our amazing content creators who joined up and made videos, guides, streams, and communities that shape the Exiled Lands. The Mystic Masterpieces Art Contest and Yogtoberfest Halloween Screenshot Contest showcased some amazing talent, and we’re constantly in awe of all the spirit and dedication of our modding community. You’re all an inspiration! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/0cb53a54af6ad9da9740177b055131b298630bb2.png{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/b4cd2682326c8bf531f76b3ed95e85466e9165f7.png Despite these successes, we faced some challenges as well. We recognize that some of our releases have not been as smooth as we would like and affected your experience. Recently, the launch of Age of War Chapter 3 was hampered by some significant issues that needed urgent attention. This is not acceptable, and we are implementing steps to ensure each update meets your expectations, such as managing scope more effectively and improved testing procedures. As we continue the journey into 2024, our commitment to you is as strong as ever: For one, performance and optimization is a constant focus, and we are committed to...Age of War Chapter 3 Hotfix 2 Patch Notes (2024.01.16)Jan 16, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsNew hotfix available (2024.01.16) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/13ff756f427def811bf89fc682362d5e0a5cab80.png Removed a method for creating floating ceilings Addressed several undermesh locations and a method for travel from undermesh bases {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/b4ede603391e3ce4446808f53354fa510fa06080.png New server setting: BuildingValidationEnabled (true/false) - false by default Setting this to “true” will upon server startup destroy any building piece with no stability Note to server admins: consider carefully whether to turn this on or not, and perhaps testing locally first, as constructions made before more recent bug fixes might be impacted {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/54314719660efb1d8d9ebe334142171d11442d1e.png Yamatai Floor Pillow is now located in the “Decorative” category in the construction hammer menu to avoid confusion about functionality Armor display stands now correctly show the armors’ dyed looks Armor display stands no longer turn partially invisible upon loading Female armor display stand once again reflects gravity Vanir Chieftain Hammer now displays correctly on a display rack {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/c05619994e13248e2e75506a754c65d6a6f6655d.png Dead Leg and The Glasser now correctly requires an improved workbench (or better) to be crafted {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/671783fe896e5ab7848b2bbfec41a8c7541bc226.png Jhebbal Sag is no longer invulnerable to projectile attacks {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/4f04899a067694dbdf54c5155e5f4e06b29d609e.png Camels can now be placed in stables Prisoners rescued from cages on Isle of Siptah will no longer be ungrateful and just walk away Thralls now consistently turn to face their enemies before taking a swing at them Thralls assigned to bar stools (and other less important objects) now return to their correct position after a bar fight (and other less important activities) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/7417502b5f022da16d522a63e2be678cc61383fe.png Purge Demolishers have been toned down {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/52256dde1a1dc29d6b71e937e5d1628fe52a8969.png The Siege of al-Merayah Fixed a condition where the siege would not reset properly Resets no longer keeps additional surviving defenders around for next time Vanquishing Commander Bak-Nimlot now provides less XP Commander Bak-Nimlot is now always audible over other sounds Added a short delay on the final fanfareVoidforge weapons no longer disappear from corpses on Isle of Siptah Purge bases will no longer spawn outside the Curse Wall The “Craft a trap” journey step now resolves when placing a trap using the construction hammer Fixed visual on Corsair Cutlass basket-hilt when viewed from a bit farther away {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25298994/0c33cb2bc777175c2985a854fede5474bc0d4124.png Data Collection Policy prompt will now open in a browser if Steam Overlay is disabled Setting for auto-facing on attack removed as it was no longer used Conan Exiles is Back in Steam’s Top 10 Most Played Games After Almost Losing its Entire Player Base in Early AccessMay 18, 2018 - GitHypThe early access debut of Conan Exiles was one of the most successful launches of 2017. Yet, after its first month, the hot new survival game saw a huge decline in its player base on Steam. With a peak of 53k concurrent players that placed Conan as the #6 most played game on Steam at the time, everything seemed great for Funcom’s new open world multiplayer title back in February 2017. But negative feedback from players told a different story. And by July 2017, it seemed that Exiles would be the latest in a long line of survival games that simply wouldn’t be able to survive on Steam with a peak of only 3k players left. [caption id="attachment_350873" align="aligncenter" width="770"] Conan Exiles' Peak Concurrent Players on Steam via GitHyp[/caption] Most games that lose 95% of their players in such a short time span aren’t ever able to recover even half of their player base ever again – even when going free-to-play. Yet, last week's official launch of Conan Exiles at $39.99 has almost completely revived the game with its population back to a peak of 49k concurrent players. Conan’s successful comeback is due in large part to the developer’s commitment to improving the game. When it debuted on Steam, feedback from players was Mixed with many complaining that the $29.99 game was unplayable in its current state. Since coming out of early access last week with a $10 higher price tag, reviews from players have changed to Mostly Positive -- placing it back in Steam's top 10 most played. Although players are still reporting numerous bugs (as is usually the case with most open world games), Conan Exiles’ time in early access has been time well spent and a great example of how to do early access right. The player base isn’t likely to explode like PUBG and Fornite, but it’s sure to retain players for a much longer period now that it’s off to a more stable second start.Conan Exiles Has A Huge First Week In Early AccessFeb 8, 2017 - GitHypWith little staying power in the MMO arena over the past two decades, Norwegian developer Funcom’s decision to revamp the Conan franchise with a focus on survival mechanics is paying off big time. Conan Exiles has become Funcom’s biggest hit yet by scaling down the server sizes and scaling up the combat, base-building, and adult content. Last week, Conan Exiles entered early access on PC for $29.99 and Twitch viewers flocked to the channels of streamers who played the visually-impressive new open world game. Viewers couldn’t get enough of the gameplay and hilarious character builder that featured both male and female endowment sliders and genital physics – a feature which Twitch continues to allow to go completely uncensored. As a result, Conan Exiles peaked at #1 on Twitch with 170,892 viewers. And while the viewer counts have dropped off over the past week, the audience has still been high enough to keep Conan in Twitch’s daily top 10. [caption id="attachment_239826" align="aligncenter" width="771"] Conan Exile's Viewer Count per Hour on Twitch via GitHyp[/caption] In its first week in early access on Steam, Conan Exiles peaked at 53,174 concurrent players and held on to an average daily high of 37,608 players -- an impressive number for an early access game -- which placed Conan as high as #6 on Steam and has kept the game in Steam’s top 10 most played games. Although the game continues to rank high in terms of player counts, the user reviews on Steam have been mixed... but that hasn't stopped Conan Exiles’ playerbase from increasing by 18% since launching -- going from an average of 22,658 players per hour last Tuesday to 27,611 pph yesterday. Oddly, we saw a similar upward trend with Steam’s most popular multiplayer survival game, ARK: Survival Evolved, where despite mostly negative reviews, the game’s playerbase increased by 23% over the course of just one month back in September. ARK's early access launched in June 2015 with a peak of 63k players and currently sits in Steam's top 3 most played games after a recent sale that slashed its price by 67%. [caption id="attachment_239825" align="aligncenter" width="771"] Conan Exiles' Player Count per Hour on Steam via GitHyp[/caption] Funcom’s recent success comes at the expense of 24 years of trial and error. Back in 2001, their sci-fi MMO, Anarchy Online, couldn’t compete with the fantasy-themed hit, EverQuest. While their 2008 follow-up attempt at fantasy, Age of Conan, also struggled to find a fanbase and currently only manages to break 100 concurrent players each hour on Steam. The developer’s more recent second attempt at sci-fi, The Secret World, only averages around 360 players per hour after launching in 2012. And their last MMO, Lego Minifigures Online, shut down only one year after its launch in 2015. With all their experience making multiplayer games, Funcom should have all the tools to keep the hype train running… but there are already serious server problems which the developer has publicly addressed. With competitor ARK: Survival Evolved still in early access and still pushing out paid DLC and still seeing an increase in players, it’ll be interesting to see if Funcom follows the same format and if Conan Exiles can manage to retain its current booming playerbase.
