Call of Duty: WWII

What graphics card do I need for HDR and what PC games support it?Oct 30, 2019 - Rock, Paper, Shotgun HDR on PC hasn’t improved much in 2019. Despite there being more HDR gaming monitors than ever before, the very s for HDR continue to be quite expensive compared to non-HDR monitors, and the situation around Windows 10 support for it is still a bit of a mess. However, provided you’re willing to fight through all that, then the next step on your path to high dynamic range glory is to get an HDR compatible graphics card. Below, you’ll find a complete list of all the Nvidia and AMD graphics cards that have built-in support for HDR, as well as everything you need to know about getting one that also supports Nvidia and AMD’s own HDR standards, G-Sync Ultimate and FreeSync 2. I’ve also put together a list of all the PC games that support HDR as well, so you know exactly which PC games you can start playing in high dynamic range. It’s arguably the best deal of the day, though, as Humble have just announced the early unlocks for their next Humble Monthly bundle: Call of Duty: WWII, the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy. That’s seven games, all for just $12. You’ll need to be a Humble Monthly subscriber to get them, of course, but if you’re not you can join up right now for just $12 a month. As Casey Viner and Shane Gaskill’s little dispute came to a head, Viner recruited veteran swatter Tyler Bariss to swat Gaskill – who had conveniently provided his own address to do so. Gaskill, of course, sent an old address. When police came to investigate Bariss’s false report of a shooting and kidnapping, it wasn’t Gaskill they found but 28-year-old father Andrew Finch. An officer shot Finch, claiming he thought he was reaching for a gun. He died. Bariss was sentenced to 20 years behind bars in March, and now Viner is headed to prison. Melbourne developer Alayna Cole announced the news on Twitter yesterday, confirming she will start work this coming Monday in her role as a producer. While it's the first public mention of the studio's existence, listings on LinkedIn suggest recruitment started as far back as three years ago. This advertisement for a software engineer dates that far back, while the Sledgehammer Games website currently lists five vacancies for the Melbourne branch. Australia used to be home to several big studios belonging to major publishers, including the likes of 2K Australia and THQ. While the indie scene flourishes, Sledgehammer joins EA's Firemonkeys as one of the two sole operating entities connected to the big end of town.  Sledgehammer is responsible for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warfare and WWII. No word yet on what Sledgehammer will be working on locally, but I've reached out to Activision for comment. Court gives 20 years in prison for swatting death spark by CoD matchApr 1, 2019 - Rock, Paper, Shotgun A Kansas court has sentenced a man to 20 years in prison on charges related to swatting, including one incident which started with a $1.50 ( 1.15) bet on a Call Of Duty: WWII match and ended with the police shooting an innocent person dead. Swatting is the not-very-funny prank of phoning emergency services with fake threats so cops bust into the prankee’s house, typically when they’re streaming so the pranker can watch and chortle away. With America’s ha-ha-hilariously militarised police, that brings a fair chance they’ll be killed too. The US legal system has seemed slow to respond to swatting so it’s good to see them recognise how serious it is. Continuing his tour of big American publishers, 2K say Condrey “will build and lead a new development team to work on an unannounced project.” It is weird to see 2K opening a studio after shutting down so many in recent years, and that does make me doubt its long-term chances, but hey, we’ll see. (more…) The 100 best-selling games on Steam in 2018 so farJul 6, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunWe’ve just passed the half-way point of 2018, so Ian Gatekeeper and all his fabulously wealthy chums over at Valve have revealed which hundred games have sold best on Steam over the past six months. It’s a list dominated by pre-2018 names, to be frank, a great many of which you’ll be expected, but there are a few surprises in there. 2018 releases Jurassic World Evolution, Far Cry 5 Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Warhammer: Vermintide II are wearing some spectacular money-hats, for example, while the relatively lesser-known likes of Raft, Eco and Deep Rock Galactic have made themselves heard above the din of triple-A marketing budgets. (more…) Call of Duty: WW2 s Liberty Strike is very loud and dumbJul 3, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunIt’s very nearly Explosion Day in America, so that means that every online shooter is doing its best to bludgeon us senseless with loud guns and louder outfits. Call of Duty: WW2 is no exception, but accompanying the Liberty Strike event‘s obligatory and garish red/white/blue-painted weaponry and outfits is a juicy little cherry of daftness on top. While Call of Duty isn’t my usual cup of shootybang tea, I love the sound of this week’s time-limited playmode, available now until July 9th – Wanderlust Mosh Pit – as it seems delightfully stupid. (more…) Call of Duty: WWII - Game Update July 2 (PC)Jul 2, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHey PC community, Thanks for being patient while we prepared the latest game update for you all. NEW Weapons: ZK-383, De Lisle, AVS-36, and Push Dagger NEW Content: Weapon Camos, Weapon Charms, Helmets, etc. NEW Community Challenge: 260 Million Multiplayer Match Wins! NEW Ranked Play Season 5 is now live! Keep an eye out for top 100 rewards from Season 4. NEW Division: CAVALRY - The Cavalry is an objective-focused Division that leads the way forward to victory. This new Division wields the Cavalry Shield, which offers protection against enemy attacks. The Cavalry Division also has improved objective capabilities, which include capturing Domination flags faster, planting bombs in S&D quicker, and swiftly building and destroying walls in War Mode. To make this the true team-play Division, the Cavalry also gets more score from objectives, and every two assists equal a kill. Lastly, the Cavalry can get back to the objective quicker (and ram enemies on the way) by entering a Shield Charge while sprinting. When used expertly, the Cavalry can change the tide of battle and get that tank across the line. See below for more details on what “improved objective capabilities” entails. NEW Basic Training: Escalation - If you love rushing with an SMG, then the Escalation Basic Training was made for you. After each kill, you can aim down sights twice as fast for a short period. This allows you to snap on to targets and take them down in rapid succession. Double Kills with Escalation instantly refill your magazine, so that you can keep slaying the opposition. NEW Basic Training: Wanderlust - The new Wanderlust Basic Training is similar to personal Gun Game. Each life, you respawn with a new random gun (which has up to 6 attachments). And pressing TRIANGLE or Y (weapon switch) will provide a new weapon. This unusual Basic Training makes each life feel unique as you use whatever weaponry is available. NEW Basic Training: Specialist - When equipped, Specialist allows you to select 3 Basic Trainings to earn instead of Scorestreaks. At 200, 400, and 600 score, you unlock each Basic Training. And at 800 score, you are granted all Basic Trainings in the game. Progress resets on death, so stay alert. Specialist allows skilled players to feel the power of having multiple Basic Trainings at once. Infected mode continues! Find it in the Party Games tab. And if you looked at the 'mostly negative' reviews for Call of Duty WWII’s open beta on Steam (which have now been removed), things looked even worse for the franchise this year. But early player counts for the beta allowed us to predict that the franchise was due for a big comeback. And sure enough, now that the game has officially launched, we can see that WWII has helped return Call of Duty as one of the most played games on Steam. Debuting at #8 on Steam’s most played, WWII’s multiplayer saw a peak of 56k players over its launch weekend. Combined with the singleplayer numbers, WWII peaked with an impressive total of 76k players. That’s a 395% increase when compared to 2016’s disappointing Infinite Warfare – the last title in the series which only brought in a peak of 15k players. [caption id="attachment_302027" align="aligncenter" width="786"] Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer Players per Hour on Steam via GitHyp[/caption] An even more impressive statistic is that WWII’s player base on Steam is the highest for the Call of Duty franchise since 2012’s Black Ops II. The second installment in the Black Ops series had a peak of 70k players for the multiplayer and 99k when combined with singleplayer and zombies five years ago on PC. With the numbers dropping year after year since Black Ops II, putting boots back on the ground was clearly a step in the right direction for Activision who is trying to bring the franchise back to its former glory. But how many more World War-based games will it be before gamers start getting fatigued once again? Fans getting tired of historic and modern military shooters was what lead to the developers at Treyarch switching to the futuristic genre with Black Ops II. But after that, the player base never recovered with followups such as Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Black Ops III, and Infinite Warfare. Now, Sledgehammer Games has successfully taken gamers back to the franchise’s historic roots, but retaining the player base next year certainly won’t be an easy task for Treyarch as the devs try to find the right balance between old and new.Call of Duty: WWII’s Beta Had Over 5 Times the Number of Concurrent Players Infinite Warfare Had Last Year on SteamOct 2, 2017 - GitHypLast year's Infinite Warfare was a clear indicator that the popular Call of Duty franchise was finally losing its grip on the first-person shooter market after losing 76% of its player base on Steam since the launch of Black Ops III in 2015, With newcomers like PUBG bringing in over 1 million concurrent players and COD's numbers the lowest in years, the series has been dire need of a change for some time. This year, Activision’s choice to return Call of Duty back to its boots on the ground roots seems to have sparked some interest among PC gamers again. Over the weekend, Call of Duty: WWII’s free open beta debuted on Steam with a peak of 84k players – a 460% increase in players when compared to Infinite Warfare’s launch weekend peak of 15k players. WWII’s beta also topped the much more well-received, Black Ops III, and its peak of 63k players back in 2015. [caption id="attachment_294533" align="aligncenter" width="770"] Call of Duty: WWII Beta Players per Hour on Steam via GitHyp[/caption] With the beta coming to a close and WWII set for launch in one month, we’re now left to speculate where the player base will go from here. While free betas do tend to bring in more players then retail launches, debuting at #4 on Steam’s list of most played games is certainly a sign that players haven’t lost interest in the Call of Duty series yet. But although the player count numbers are looking much better for Activision, it’s worth noting that despite being one of the most popular games on Steam over the weekend, WWII’s beta received Mostly Negative reviews from users. Player counts also dropped from Friday’s average of 54k players per hour down to 48k on Saturday and 34k on Sunday. Still, even with negative reviews and a good amount of players not planning on returning after the beta, Call of Duty is in a much better position now than it was last November and is set for a solid launch next month that should be on par with Black Ops III.
